I just thought that I would pass this along but I can't remember where I found it. You can get a Tilt for FREE* through HTC website. It's actually $250 with rebates and instant savings that bring it down to FREE* but that is only with a new service plan and that excludes contract extensions as well.

I hate mail-in rebates, especially since they always take 6-10 weeks to arrive, and now they are almost always as a VISA bucks card or some such (not $$CASH$$).
If you are going to offer rebates, then just offer them at checkout - get rid of these damnawful mail-in schemes (or at the very least set it up so you get them in a timely 3-5 business days or such).

They make more money if they do they mail in scheme. Some people just won't get off their backsides to do the extra work to get the rebate.
But I agree with the whole checkout thing.

Mail in rebate is a bit fishy , but hey , put some work and its a good deal.
compare to straight from AT&T , $150 , also with 2 years contract, for a refurbished phone ( 90 days warranty ) . This is a better deal.
@p1 , no luck finding a new tilt yet ? check your local craigslist . unlike the myth I find craigslist is a good place to buy not so popular phone like TilT.
Pretty sure the cost is $99 for refurbs from AT&T now, I just got mine last Friday... Really loving this thing, sorry to hear about your's P1, I remember taking my Clie UX50 swimming with me in Mexico... That was a serious bummer, hope you get a new tilt soon...

How can I get the Tilt for around $350? I don't know anyone at a store. Has anyone ever bought a phone as a "new" customer and then cancelled the service right away? What fees are payed and how exactly is this done?

You can cancel the service, but seeing as how you will have a new contract they will charge you the cancel fee. If you cannot wait then you need to purchase the phone at whatever price they give you. Personally, I'm on a family plan and will be using the upgrade credit from another line to get the phone @ $299.

Cmon you don't get what you pay for with phones, -its a big game. Were all paying different prices for the same product.
I got screwed out of 200 bucks on an iphone for my wife because of 48 hrs.
We didn't create the game, the phone companies create the game were just trying to play it. if they just offered it for a price thats one thing, but there are 10 different ways to get this thing at a different price.
easiest way is someone else said, ad a phone an a family plan and reduce the other line to minimum. you ad 10 bucks a month to the bill and get the incentive. Basically your financing the incentive as you will pay 240$ over 2 years with the add on plan.
one thing you can do is to register for a business license and get a sellers permit then you can buy it from manufacturer at cost. just a thought...

I do have a connection at a cingular store and one thing I learned is that they really only need about 6 months into the 2 year to upgrade you. I have never waited for upgrading. You have to be connected though which means go talk to a rep and make a friend and then bring a red bull in the next time as a peace offering
That's not all you need. Good luck getting the manufacturer to give you a good price on one unit.
The best prices are usually for corporate customers, and by corporate I don't mean "business license", I mean "big company that buys MANY phones and service contracts". Basically the best price you can get is a matter of luck and who you know - There are usually no extra tricks available. Either you're eligible for certain deals or you're not.

You might find brand new tilt at ebay for around $370. (Sim locked though.) It is not easy to find though. I watched a few of them. The cheapest I watched was $365 for a brand new tilt sim locked.
You can easily unlocked yourself.

You could wait for one of AT&T's sales to buy it at $250.00 with a $100.00 rebate. Then call AT&T and if you get a nice representative, ask if they will process the rebate for you; which, if they do, may take the shape of a 'courtesy credit', bringing you down to $150.00. Then, fill out the rebate form, mail it in, and wait. Once you get the rebate, the phone will have been $50.00.
I've been looking for a good deal on a tilt for a while. It doesn't even have to be a still but just a good price. On AT&T site its not that good of a dea plus the fact I have to renew my contract which I'm only 2 months away from being out of.
Listen, all you have to do is go to amazon.com. They will sell you the phone for 200 dollars! All you have to do is either sign up for a two year contract with att or renew your contract. Also you cant break your contract or change your service package for 6 months. I did it and I have a very nice tilt....Filled with a whole bunch of stuff. It would be filled with more if people would response a little faster on this damn forum.
I upgraded from my old razr to a tilt and i got it straight up for $185 with no data plan or anything from the cingular store.
I have noticed that if you go to www.letstalk.com and select AT&T Cells Phones (scroll to the bottom) and select the AT&T Tilt - they have it for $99.99 after rebate. Has anyone used this website before? This appears to be about $200 cheaper than we got it for at the AT&T store. I've still got 24 days or so to return it to the store if I so choose. Any idea on if this is a better deal or am I missing something strange that they do?

I purchased from them twice. Once many years ago with a Sidekick 2. I never got my rebates. Its what they count on to make a profit. I dont think Id ever do the mail in rebates again. Plus theres specific plans to keep the phone at that price. Its not likely to be $40 +$20 data.
And the other time was an unlocked Nokia E70-2 that I purchased at full price. So thats not really relivant. I would never purchase

I had to fight with wirefly for over a year to get mine. They use excuses like "rebate form not filled out correctly" or "not sent in the correct timeframe". At one point, I was calling them daily. They are counting on you just giving up. Document EVERYTHING if you try it and be set for a big long fight. On the plus side, after finally getting the rebates from them, there was a class action suit and they accidentally sent me a bonus $150

since the tilt came out.
$250 a 2 year contract (369 one year..something like that) no rebate forms,pda plan required....what so ever.
some guys at ny.. times square tried to tell me that the att tilt simply wouldn't work without a pda plan therefore i must or i needed to add it to the two year plan/contract. As far as i know they dont advertise it though, but i couldnt even find it through their website..... -

Can someone explain what the big deal is with getting the phone for $250 with no contract? What good does that do? So you can use the phone on a no commitment, either prepaid or pay-as-you go plan? If you go that route you are going to pay considerably more than if you signed up for a 2 year contract, so it doesn't really make sense financially.
I can get the premier discount through my university, but why when newegg has it for $150 with a 2 year contract, free shipping, no tax?? That's exactly what I did.
The only advantage I can see for buying it through premier is if you are trying to upgrade your phone in the middle of your contract. Other than that, newegg still has the best deal. Period. If I am misunderstanding something please explain.

thx for the link, but yeah that deal wouldnt benefit me in the long run becuz i have a GF data plan(19.99=unlmt internet 1500txt 50mms). Contract upgrades wouldve shifted me to a 44.99 plan! So I think i did good!

I wanted to do this too, as I felt it wasn't worth the price I paid ($400)
However, AT&T at least allows you to return the phone under the 30 days and replace it with the refurbished model - at only $150.00.
I really liked the phone, it's just with the graphics problem it wasn't worth the heavy price...but the new availability of refurbs let me keep this phone at a slick price.
Just thought I'd let you all know for a potential exchange! My refurb works great, and still a 1 year warranty!

I just hope your wife doesn't fet the one I turned in within the 30 day period. (I traded for another new one in early December - No refurbs available at that time) Anyway it got to the point that people couldn't hear me unless I soft reset the phone right before I called.
I guess a reflash would probably fix that, but I just switched it out for a new one. The cover over the media card slot was quite worn because I wasn't able to get craptive sync working right at the beginning and to get stuff on the media card I was having to take the card out repeatedly and putting it into a USB adapter.

I just ordered 2 refurb 8925s earlier today (to replace the 8125s my wife and I have used for the past 2 years). I decided to start reading the kaiser forum this afternoon in anticipation...
Total was under $400 for both (shipping included)...mine actually qualified for an additional $50 off ($149 for mine; $199 for hers) and a waived activation fee.
We will see if it was a good deal.

OK, unless you already have a contract with AT&T or are doing a family plan....
beware of those internet deals. they require you to keep the PDA data plan for 6 months in order to keep that price. If you dont, you could get billed for the Tilt's full price.

They don't bill you for it, they deny you the rebate... usually places like that have 2 rebates setup. one that you file immediately, and they mail the rebate after you've had active service for 30 days, and the second is not issued until you have had service for like 6 months.

I was about to put this up on ebay but then I suddenly decided to offer it up on here since it is this place that helped me get it up and running with a good ROM in the first place.
I have used this tilt for less than a week. I have never dropped it and there are no scratches. I used it for the BB connect and when it comes to BB nothing does it better than an actual BB. while the Tilt is better than the BB in every other way... I realized that I never use anything else the phone offers.
anyway... I can provide pictures if you want. I just need to take a couple good ones (attached ones I took with iPhone are all blurry).
I have all of the original packaging. I also have a new never opened 3-in-1 2gb Micro SD card (Sandisk) and Car Charger (ATT Branded) to go with it.
Im not looking for any specific price... just make me a reasonable offer.
