ringtones for text messages - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

does anyone have any program to convert mp3s to where u can use them as text alerts. i have a wing if it matters. Thanks in advance

I have the MP3's I want to use as ringtones in the main folder of my SD card and then the Wing automatically sees it and I just add it. Stock ROM, nothing different.

ya i can use them as ring tones for calls but not as incoming text messages

I have found that you can use mp3s as Text Message alerts if they are placed in the storage card\my documents folder rather than the storage card\my documents\my ringtones folder
I still have not been able to use them as alarm sounds without putting them as wav files in the main Windows folder which I don't care to do. But for system alert sounds, this seems to work

that worked thank u very much

Dont know why but i always put the wanted track in windows. not to smart huh? thanks for the easy fix!

i also have this problem
so more NO SMS tones just blinking at round buttons
now i have found out all sms tones are located in "\Windows\" folder and alle ringtones are located in the "\My Documents\Rings\" how can i change these to folders to my "Internal Storage" ?, do any one have any idears? then please share with the rest of us .
just copy the ringtones in internal storage/my documents.
1.you''ll save precious memery on the device.
2.you'll never have to wait for /windows to load (lots of manilla files) if you want to delete/change one of them.
3.after a hard reset or flash you'll still have all of them ready to use!
btw, i am writing this for the third time so...search before u start a new thread!
Thank you verry mutch, that location can that be changed in the registry ? to something like "\Internal Storage\My Documents\Tones\" is that posible ?

Ringtones in Internal Storage?

hey everyone just got a quick question,
I have a lot or ringtones and putting them in My RingTone folder and activesync document takes up a lot of the phone's memory.
Since internal storage has the most space, is it possible for me to create a RingTone folder under Internal Storage and the phone still be able to recognize the ringtones and shows up when i'm changing the tones under notification?
Or i need to change the code in the phone so it can read from internal storage to pick up the ringtones?
Thanks
nvm i got it working.. but it shows up under Music tap now.. o wells
Just put your ringtones here:
\Internal Storage\My Documents
The tones will appear for selection in any settings menu.

Generally, you can put ringtones any where and your device will automatically include them in various applications. i.e. Ringtones, Music, MMS, etc.

SMS / text message notification sound

When I go to the settings to change the incoming text message notification there's a list of sounds to choose from (like "alert1" "alertglass" stuff like that). I tried looking through the file explorer but couldn't find this folder, I was wondering if anyone knows where it is so I can put some of my own sounds in there to use as notifications? Thanks.
all the files are in \Windows. they are system files so you will need to tell explorer to show all files so you can see them. if you want to add more sounds just drop the file into \Windows.
they have to be wav format too don't believe mp3 works
i have been able to use wma and wav file for notification.
p.s. put ringtones in \My Documents\My Ringtones\
I managed to use my own sounds in the events and messages alerts, loading them in Application Data\Sounds

put your WAV files in \My Device\Windows folder and it will show up in the drop down list...
Put your sound files here:
\Application Data\Sounds
thanks so much guys.
Or on the root of the Storage Card, putting it anywhere else on the storage card it wont show up as a choice.

Custom text tone

Hey all,
I have had an Xperia for about 6 months now and one thing that i have been unable to do is set a custom text tone. For some reason it will only let me select from the default tones. I would be grateful if somebody could guide me to a way round this so i can set my own text tone.
Cheers in advance for any help offered.

Where is your mp3 song? it must be in the root directory of the SD Card or inside Xperia "My documents" folder.
Then you should be able to select it on settings --> personal --> phone
ive wanted a custom text tone aswel but without luck as yet
try out with wav files rather then mp3 ones
not sure if it support mp3 for old basic pda functions such
as notifications it may only be for ring tones it support mp3

No, it does support mp3 for notifications. I currently have an mp3 for new sms.
it does support mp3 tones.
For text tones you have to put it into the Windows directory folder.
For call tones you have to put it into the My Documents>My ringtones folder.
where is the windows folder you have to put it into? sorry im new to all this
open your file explorer.. go up until u are at My Device. there you can see windows folder, open it and paste the mp3s or audio file(s) that you want them to appear in the text tone setting..
lol cheers that was well easy
