AT&T Tile Screen issues - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I broke the digitizer on my 8925 about two weeks ago. The screen has displayed properly, I just lost the touch screen functions. I purchased a new digitizer and replaced it with no problems. Once I rebooted the phone I have nothing but a white screen and no screen functions. I am using trueconnect and can see that the output from the phone is working properly. I rechecked all connections and they are fine. I have tried to reflash the phone with no avail. i either get a connection error or a user error code. Please advise

The main times I've seen reports of white screen after a digitizer/LCD replacement is either the ribbon connector is loose (you really have to snap them in all the way), the ribbon cable is bad or the wrong screen was installed (I belive there is more that one part number that fits but not all work).

Run-over Tilt repaired LCD scree but still not working properly...

Hello all.
So, long story as short as possible:
My Tilt got run over, LCD screen was busted but I could still make and receive calls by sliding it open, hitting the call button and using the keyboard to dial and 'enter' to connect.
I was also still able to connect to the phone via bluetooth from my mac, as well as syncing it on my PC partition.
Eventually, I think I hit too many random buttons and turned the phone off or something as I could no longer get it to dial out this way. I was always getting the flashing green and blue lights though.
After some research (and un-won auctions on eBay) I decided to see if popping in a new LCD screen would fix my situation.
I installed the new LCD last night, and the machine is almost back to living, however, I now have the current problems:
When the phone boots into 'normal' mode, the screen is display is very truncated. It doesn't display the full HTC updated today screen and won't respond to touch. It says 'no service' but wi-fi seems to connect. If I slide it open, the keyboard lights up but doesn't respond, neither do the front keys. Also, I get only a solid orange light in the upper left LED.
If I boot the phone into 'Safe Mode' it responds to touch, connects to the AT&T network, connects to Wi-Fi, etc. The front keys still do not do anything, and when I slide it open the keyboard does not light up or respond. Also, I get both the green light in the upper right and blue in the upper left.
Another thing, when I slide the phone open and closed there's a slight ripple in the middle of the phone like something is 'pressing' on it from the back.
Sorry for the novel. Any help is appreciated. I'm considering 'clearing storage' and returning it to factory settings or flashing the ROM. I've taken it apart and put it together like four times now, checking, double checking and triple checking connections.
Thanks!
Sounds like one of the headers isnt fully seated in the display region. IIRC there are two that I had to deal with with my 10min LCD swap routine
Yeah, I think you're basically describing symptoms of having put the phone back together wrong except that it's interesting it responds in this 'Safe Mode' and interesting that it would happen after four retries
It's probably going to need a hard reset then! You might want to check nothing has been bent, warped mountings/plastic could be the cause of the screen ripple issue.
Were there any active components on the touch film for the display? (Assuming you have replaced that too with the LCD, or that they're one whole unit) if that is the case, they may be different, newer revisions? Really grasping at straws there though; at the end of the day, the poor phone has been mauled by a wheel... best of luck!!
Thanks for the thoughts! I guess I could try and break it down again. As far as I could tell, everything looked like the phone in the disassembly directions; nothing appeared unduly bent or mangled.
"Sounds like one of the headers isnt fully seated in the display region."
I'll google it, but what 'headers' are we talking about? The small metal bits that seem to touch the upper outside edge of the LCD screen?
Would an improperly seated header cause the other symptoms? Unresponsive other buttons (keyboard, front keys) and connectivity issues with the network?

I got a new LCD and digitizer (is that what you mean by other active components?).
Thanks again!!

Any cable that attaches to the circuit boards, re-seat every one you can find. One faulty connection can cause a lot of problems. I have a similar problem with a button on my PSP but im to lazy to fix it.

white screen after fixed touch screen :(

Hi, i'v got a problem. I tried change my digitizer and, when im done, now lcd doesn't work, because it is still white...:/ What can i do now? any solutions?
Thanks a lot
Check your connections. Pull apart and re-seat everything to ensure everything is hooked up good.
everything is fine :/ still white screen
Perhaps you zapped or damaged the LCD when you were working on it...
You could try replacing the LCD too -- but at this point I think I would send it to the professionals
HTC repair or someone like PPCTechs
Don't know if the screen set up is still the same. But when I replaced the screen on my Universal the wiring for the touchscreen was stuck down onto the lcd wiring, as they both shared common earths. Maybe worth a check before spending more cash?
i have the same problem, the screen was working fine before i replaced the new digitilizer and now its just white but i can hear the tablet playing so it must be the screen.i checked all the wiring 4 times now! any idear???
:crying:
Slide the phone open and apply some pressure near where the angle of the opening is (back of the LCD below the SIM, where there is a bar). I had the same issue and this fixed it.

Touch faulty

Hi,
the other day I dropped my Kaiser on its screen and it cracked . I ordered a new one and fitted it from a guide on youtube. Everything seems to work fine except the screen is totally unresponsive to touch. I guess this just means its nackered - something broke inside, but seeing as the new screen had a new touch part built into it and everything else still works, I thought I'd ask if anyone had any suggestions on the off chance.
Thanks
If you're certain there was also a digitizer, check the connection. I haven't done a Kaiser screen, but I had to reseat the ribbons on my Excalibur more than once before everything kicked off.

Backlight problem after replacement

Hello everyone,
I have got one problem... I broke digitizer of my HTC Desire 500. So I order new one and to be sure, also LCD screen. I replaced, and...
After turning on, everything works fine. Digitizer works properly, screen shows normal picture. But after few minutes - restarts (I don't remember well) backlight of my screen goes down and now it have no backlight at all. I rebooted phone many times, I remounted screen and digitizer to be sure that connections are fine - but no results. I restored factory settings of phone with no effect too. :/
Please help, what happend? What could be the source of problem? I don't want to order new sceen if it could beak too ;/ I read other threats about coil problem in other HTC, but I cannot find any coil in my Desire's motherboard (maybe it is hidden under plate that covers CPU and other parts). I performed tests of light sensor and it works fine. Buttons lights fine too. The problem refers only to LCD screen, and backlight doesn't respond during test.
Anyone help?
same situation
Hello kowal_luki,
I'm just in the same bad situation.
After a bad fall of the phone the screen broke so I ordered a new one for replacing it.
Opening the phone I noticed that also the LCD (and not only the external screen) was broke so had to order also the LCD.
As precaution tried to power-on my device without a complete assembly and everything seemed to be fine, so I decided to glue the LCD to the outer screen (the touch screen) with a LOCA TP-2500 glue.
Then I re-assembled it up: at first the image was a little bit disturbed but the back-light was working; after few second the back-light turned off. I checked the cable, after that the image went perfect but the back-light still dead.
Did you find a solution for this -still not explanable- problem?

Problem after screen replacement

I've got a replacement screen that my friend had in his house. Mine was broken (both the display and the digitizer, the latter was acting very weird). I did the replacement myself, and when I was finally done, I noticed something. The Touch Screen wasn't working (I could see the image but no input was recognized). I tried opening it and checking every single cable to see if there was anything wrong, but there was nothing looking broken or out of place. When I was going to test it, I noticed another very weird thing. It actually works if I keep the back of the phone off (not the back interchangable cover, I mean the back of the phone that is screwed in place). The problem is that this phone has a very annoying design that makes it so the Wi-Fi, Speakers, Camera and some other stuff don't function well with the back plate off, speacially the Wi-Fi.
I trully have no idea what is happening or what is causing the problem with the touch screen, and have no idea why the back plate makes the screen act funny. Can someone please help me figure this out?
Perhaps something in the digitizer's flex cable is shorting with the back panel. Try putting a layer of electrical tape between the flex cable and the back panel.
