Accelerometer Software - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello all!
it's my first post, so i hope i gonna make all correct...
Im looking for a water-level software (not sure if it's the right word in english). I think with the accelerometer it would be possible to develop a tool that make possible to use the diamond as a water-level (for measuring if a surface or a wall is in level or how much degrees have a surface etc...). I've looked around and used google, but i didn't find something like that (have also searched if there is a tool like that for the iphone).
Did someone know if there exist such a software? or is there someone, who can develop this? im sure, this would be a great idea for a tool !

Something like this......

yes right!
if I knew how I would do it, i would develope it by myself... but i have no idea how to develope such a tool

some comments...
The diamond's back is not that flat and it rocks when u tap the two sides of the screen. So it might not be a good idea to use it as a leveling meter... even if it works...

Despite the non-flat back on the Diamond, I have found that it actually sits at an even keel quite stabl-y... If you press down on one side it won't stay even, but if you just set it down, it stays quite even. You can even test/confirm that with the accelerometer game it has built-in.

Software like that exists for iphone. Its called would you beleive it iLevel
It should be possible to do.

Brilliant idea!
Oh the T-Mobile and O2 versions are flat.
I wonder if anyone else can think of other useful accelerometer based software, apart from games.
How about a G force meter similar to the ones found in Nissan Skylines and as visual displays during an F1 race!

hi all,
i've seen this accelerometer based application for nokia n95, nokmote , develpped by a french phone forum member http://dailymotion.alice.it/video/x3f4o8_nokmote_tech......
hope someone can do the same for wm devices with built in accelerometer

Nice application...hopefully someone could port it to WM.

Better yet (more useful) would be an Inclinometer... like this one on a K850

Bump!
This thread needs reviving, come on developers, let’s see some funky accelerometer based apps. There is a potential customer base of what 3 or 4 million?

I have not tested it, but this is a java app that uses accelerometer enabled devices as an inclinometer. If you just want to test.... (i'm a total newbee on this scene, my phone has just arrived)

thats great! how abt a force meter like those u see on F1 cars like someone mentioned before? sure would be cool to measure lateral, acceleration and braking forces...better yet...it would be cool if it can measure 1/4 mile and 0-60 times..and horsepower if u input the weight of the car? I think theres something like that called car meter for nokia phones...can some genius out there do something like that?

well, just a very simple and a little bit imprecise spirit-level/water-level...
just unzip the attached zip file and put the SpiritLevel.exe on the Diamond, then execute it
edit: now with sound feedback (can be switched on/off via menu)
There is a newer version in post #18

I really like the idea of this being combined with GPS tracking, I could then see where I am accelerating/braking the hardest, which roads and corners etc. Could be VERY usefull on a track day!
Now, if only I could link it to the data in my onboard computers ......
(thats almost worth learning to programing WM for)

a little bit better performance for the spirit level, when sound is enabled.
so now it s fun enough to play with it. can maybe also used to see numerical how much the g-sensor should be calibrated.
edit: bow there is an option in the menu with which s short vibration can enabled, when the x or y axis is at 0 °

Thanks fxxxxxx!
Great tool.
Cheers!

and any solution for calibrate the device , using this way? i've read many thread about g-sensor calibrating problem. i've this problem . i've made a test with a real inclinometer and i can see 3° in horizontal axi and 11° in vertical axis. but it's not a software issue because it's always the same values. for me the calibrating is bad for my diamond.
(and my english to, sorry ^^)

But if you have installed any of the cooked ROMS using hard SPL, you have already said goodbye to your warranty anyway. So what is the difference ?
Olipro has described a method to revert to original ROM and SPL...just for those "warranty" issues. I'm sure I've read it into one of the Diamond ROM section topics, so there's no problem with that. But for this operation (described here to improve the sound), you have no return...though, I do believe it'll improving the sound a lot...but also it'll help to get a lot of dust inside your phone
Warranty? I would have thought you would just replace the cover with a new one should the need arise.... Anyway a somewhat interesting post, although the issue of dust and whatever else getting inside the phone has kind of turned me off unfortunately. Thanks for sharing.
i wont!
I wont do that to my phone!!

of course it works, and of course its louder
all ur doing is removing some of the shielding and case... is it really that hard to work out?
Warranty is now voided, and u will now have loads of **** in ur phone. congratulations.
I never listen to music/radio without my headphones... I have no doubt that it can improve the overall sound but... it's kinda barbaric + it leaves enough space for more dust and stuff... hope it works for you guys!
This looks nice, i bet the part with the 3 holes in the case it's not that necessary. Can someone who did this leave some feedback ?
While I'm sure this works I'm still not convinced that this is the only solution for the ****ty loudspeaker.
I know there is the audio something tweak which helps a bit, but for instances, some alerts such as my alarm (alarm 5) and my "you got message" alerts are shockingly loud, like scary loud.
But then you get the in call loudspeaker and the video playback which are whisper quiet. Frustrates the hell out of me
I'll do this once my Diamond is out of warranty.
If you are worried ab out dust getting in, just glue some kind of filter to the inside of the holes, such as womens stocking or fine mesh...it's not difficult
I'll do it to, after 1 year and 11 months )

sadly not anymore. There was once an app called MUSICID by Shazam for windows mobile but sadly this doesnt work well with diamond due to the VGA screen. There is no music identification software for the diamond at present and isnt likely to be. Developers just dont seem to be interested in developing for windows mobile anymore, everything is going to symbian or iphone. Sign of the times im afraid and a particular beef of mine..
heh, thanks for that dose of doom & gloom, bane. but seriously, it's a good idea to port this, i wonder if one of the developers isn't thinking up something right now...

I think this is the same app I mentioned originally that doesnt work well with Diamond's VGA screen. However id like to test to make sure. Is anyone subscribed to that forum, can you grab the file? I tried to register there but recieved no verification email.
**EDIT** Here it is, but not tested yet
nope it doesnt work. Same display errors.
Where there ever be a solution for Shazam on windows mobile? *sigh*
iT WORKS BUT, it isnt well with Diamond's VGA screen !l
Familiar songs will identified without objections !
[Q]Any one know any program for HTC like Track ID?
Hi, does anyone know where I can find a program like TrackID (from Sony Ericsson) and I also seen this function available for Iphone which allows you record for few seconds and will find the song name via the net. I would love to have this program for HTC, i think is very handy. Thank you!
Hmm
Search for MusicID it is available
Do a search for MusicID. I had it for a while and it worked fine on QVGA. Not sure about VGA compatibility though.
This has been discussed before many times, esp by myself! I consider the issue as testament to the fact that support for windows mobile is dwindling to the iPhone.
There used to be a MusicID software for windows mobile by Shazam - unfortunately its designed for WM Smartphone edition (meaning no touch response) and hardware keys, secondly it doesnt display well at all on HTC Diamonds VGA screen.
To date there is NO Music Identification software for high end (VGA) Windows Mobile Devices. There is a demand but Shazam do not see Windows Mobile as a viable platform.

Accelerometer on Xperia X1

Is there ANY possibility that the Xperia X1 has a hidden accelerometer in it? As it was HTC who manufactured it and as HTC loves to hide some cool features of some devices, do you think X1 has an accelerometer hiden in it?
And IF it has... how can we discover it? Any ways or only if HTC or Sony tell us?
Thanks in advance!
hasn't someone disassembled the X1?
Im pretty sure they didn't find an accelerometer
I've seen a video of Xperia getting dismantled, Havn't seen anything that looks like a Accelerometer.
Does someone have a screenshot how the hardware supose to look like?

i've tried all the usual accelerometer drivers and tweaks and they don't work so I presume there's not one.
Is there a hardware dump utility like lspci that we can run to see what's there?

I dont know if it has a g sensor or not but if it does it is well hidden. I thought the X1 only had A-GPS too until i found a program that unlocks the real FULL GPS so it might still be possible.
Maybe you will have to go for the X2 if you really need the accelerometer

Huh? There's still speculation about the X1 having an accelerometer?? Thought that's like history already.
thats easy.
just let it drop from like 2 meters height. if it accellerates then it should have an basic accelerometer. if it drops at constant speed then it doesnt.
if it doesnt drop at all then it should have an hooverometer.
i would test it for you but i am currently at a spacestation right now and the test would show up "hooverometer" all the time.
if it drops to the ground you should hear a noise. if it is a loud and clear "CLANK!" then it has definitely an accelerometer. if it is a relatively soft "clank!" then it doesnt have one. its probably very hard to distinguish between "CLANK!" and "clank!". i suggest you record the noise and upload it here to have another poll!
even if there is nothing mentioned in the white-paper and not a single driver available and no sign of an application whatsoever ... this conspiracy should be solved once and for all. also there is still the "tv-out issue" to solve. yesterday my x1 was floating near my tv and the tv-screen did still show a picture!!!
good luck,

Would be pretty funny if they had hidden a g-sensor in it just for fun...
If there was a hidden iphone in my x1 I would start crying.
It has an accelerometer. It's found right next to the extra RAM and the TV-Out port, all three are clearly labelled if you care to open your X1 and find out. The best part? They're all activated simply by pushing a little pixie shaped button near the bottom of the handset's interior.

A dev could have a bit of fun with that. Add an accelerometer, hide it and don't tell anyone. Then patch the device 6 months down the line with an update that makes the screen switch off whenever the phone is moving and switch on whenever it's stationary.
Worth the lolz? The guys in charge of the repairs/complaints departments would likely say no.

Yeah, you can chop, sample, mix, effects, and just about anything else you can do with a full sized drum machine. I know this is an extremely complex app, so chances are, we're SOL. but here's to wishful thinkin!!!
Yes this could be good, plug your TP into a mixer, brings a whole new capability to the device.
I also think though, that to port such an app would be an enormous task.
+1 on wishful thinking

I think it's safe to say we can go ahead & close this thread. It's not getting too much interest, so i'm assuming it's either damn near impossible to port, or none of the dev's are really willing to give it a shot. Hopefully someone will drop a similar program from WM.

no my friend... while these are all nice apps, they are NOT beat maker. None of the afore mentioned apps have a full functioning drum machine built into it. Not to mention, NONE of the apps allow for 3rd party plug-ins like Pro-Tools export, rewire, t-racks, etc. Beat Maker is the real deal. I'm seriously debating buying a iTouch SIMPLY for this app!!
Maybe you should contact the maker of the App and see if he would port it himself. Maybe he's already making a WM version to sell on the Windows Marketplace.
For the record, I would also be willing to pay to get a port of this app.

Wouldn't the fact that Raphaels do not have a capacitive touchscreen really hinder this Apps original functionality/awesomeness?
Our touch screens are resistive, and are thus incapable of multitouch like an iphone or g1 for example. (I have seen a demo of multitouch on a supposedly resistive screen around on the nets, but never seen a resistive device with multitouch capabilities released) http://www.engadget.com/2009/02/19/stantums-mind-blowing-multitouch-interface-on-video/ here's the vid
Just a thought, hope your dreams aren't too dashed.
no need to multitap and such.. we just gotta contact the maker of beatmaker and see if hes brewing a version for WM6.1 platforms!
so is this thing ported yet?
Omniano the Band, is the closest thing to date. The other would be Little Snazzy Drummer, which has a free Lite version as well as a paid version. Neither of these are quite as complex as the app. you mentioned, though I find them both very usable and entertaining.

[Game] Touch Drummer - Demo

Hey everyone. I posted a while back about my previous app, "Goonchie Blunch" but nobody really commented. It got almost 2,000 downloads. I redesigned it all with new graphics and sounds. It's really cool now! It's a new app, so I renamed it "Touch Drummer - Demo". I'd love it if some of you could get it and let me know what you think! It should be under Games > Just In, relatively close to the top.

Recent updates added new animated menus, "techno" sounds, support for all screen sizes, and runs on Cupcake 1.5 too now. I'm getting a lot of feedback now, since there have been almost 5,000 downloads of "Touch Drummer", and I think I'm gonna try to add some really cool features like creating custom loops and multitouch, then make that version cost around $2, whadayathink?

Thanks dude! The more time I have to work on it, the faster it will be. At the current state, there are a lot of png images that can take some time to switch on older phones. But the audio is pretty fast because the clips are ogg format.
I'm working on a version with multitouch support, since all the reviews have asked for it. I've got an HTC Incredible I can test on. But more importantly, I'm recognizing a multitouch on our old screens and I'll see if I can't play a new sound when you hit another drum, even if you don't release the first finger yet. That will probably be ready in a week if it works well.

Multitouch
So I'm really close to having multitouch work 100% (just for this app) on our devices. The problem I finally hit was there is no difference in the values I'm getting if you a) touch once, then remove and touch somewhere else simultaneously, or b) touch once and hold, and then touch somewhere else (multitouch). I can't think of a way to differentiate the two types of touches and it's the last piece of the puzzle. Usually when you lift up that first finger you get a certain code back, but when you press somewhere else quick enough the code does not come up! Any programmers or someone with an idea can help me?

Would be cool if this could work on WinMo 6.5 or other devices. I love my HTC HD2 lol

That's alright. I'll have to do some updating of that title on the market (actually I just did update it to 1.03, but Touch Drummer is the version that allows really quick clicking on our devices), and I'll just tell people to search for the new version with more features will be called "Touch Drummer." Thanks a lot egzthunder!
EDIT: Touch Drummer - Demo is uploaded to the market.
New version, supports our small screens now, and even Cupcake. Updated first post with the newest apk.
So, our devices can do multitouch? Or at least, a hack up job?

Yes it's a hack job, the way I implemented it. When you first press twice I can recognize both fingers almost accurately. But if you try to move them there's no way of telling which one you are moving.
This was in the post earlier but I must have deleted it. The multi-touch was acting up because of the nature of the program and its quick presses. I took it out because most of the devices running my app are capacitive screens anyway. But if you wanted to see it, I could write up a simple demo app that would show a "1" under the first finger and a "2" under the next finger. It's an implementation that works, but I just don't have a good use for it in my app.
