anybody using opera on tmobile (USA) tzones plan? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

hey guys, i have the 5.99 plan and was wondering if anybody is using opera (any variation) if you can please state which opera your using and if you had to do any special modifications, thanks
omar

I remember using my Tmobile Dash with the 5.99 plan and setup the proxy for it before I swithced to the $19.99 plan for good(can't remember the address of the proxy but I believe it's easy to find on google). I used newest version of opera mini with tzones plan. It worked about 70% of the time. Google Maps also works when the proxy works. So I think same would apply to the Tilt/Kaiser too.
Plus side of the tzones+proxy:
+Cheap
+Useable most of the time
+Tzone's wap site is sometimes useful for finding movie times and stuff...
Down side of the tzone+proxy:
-Unreliable (sometimes when you need it most it would not work)
-Slow (half the speed of tmo-total internet plan)
-Don't work with a lot of games that use socket when phone is used as modem (like world of warcraft, the game works on the tmo-total internet plan, though ping is horrible)

hey, your right on some of your info, however:
1- speed is exactly the same. i asked a lot, and everybody said that they're the same speed. i eventually tried it myself, switched to the $20 plan, and used it for a month, and got the same exact speeds on my tilt as the 5.99 plan.
2- i had similar reliability with both, never had an issue.
my question is to those who use some type of opera on the kaiser, which type do u use?

I see, can't help ya on that one. Assume Total Internet = T-Zones, I use both newest version of opera mobile and opera mini downloaded from opera website, no prob so far. On Sleuth 3.0 and HardSPL 3.28 by JockyW

and are you using the 5.99 tzones or the $20 total internet?

fine nine nine only a fool would pay more

I use the Opera 9.5 build 1128 or something that i found here on xda. i use the 5.99 Tzones plan and it works great. You don't have to modify opera itself, just setup the proxy and it works great. I wouldn't pay more.

I'm a fool, I guess... But I do go travel around airports and stop by starbucks often, the HotSpot is absolutely essential... five nine nine can't get you that

hey, just fyi, tmobile and starbucks have terminated their agreement over the hotspot at their locations. i think at&t now controls those hotspots..

opera 4.1

Kasier On US T-mobile

Hi, I am new to this forum.
I have a question, I just got my Kasier a weeks ago.... before I have a T-Mobile Wing
I try to set up my phone to use the T-Zone
I can get it work, but I cannot get the IM thing working though the T-Zone.
I do install the Agile Messenger & IM+ both of them only can use it on the wifi when i at home...... any way i can use those program when i use t-zone?
I only pay 5 dollars per month......for the T-zone.
ANy info or suggestion will be help.....
As far as I know, T-zones only allows you to use certain ports. Now the IM client might be using other ports that are blocked. For more information on what ports are enabled or not, go here: http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/T-Mobile_Data
- TKN
If you want to use AIM, in IM+ change the AIM port to 110. Then IM+ should work over T-Zones.

good, free, rss reader that works on proxy internet?

hey guys, looking for a free rss reader that works through a proxy internet; (using tmobile usa tzones plan). any ideas? thanks
omar
I've been using Hubdog, it's pretty good but is still a beta so there are some things it could improve upon. Don't know about the proxy internet: I'd say fire it up and see what happens.
hey thanks, but it doesnt work on my tilt. tells me i need to install .net compact framework 2.0 or lower. i think i have the new 3.0 (3.5?)
Is it hubdog 2.0? That's what I'm running with no problem, never got asked about installing .net.

I don't know if this is a bug, but check if My Album works for you. If not, tell me.
Works on Dash
Thanks for the release! I have it working on ricky's 6.1 for Dash. Haven't fully tested, but I can get to account info, and services. Thanks.
Is this for the clean 6.1 or the beta 6.1?
(does it matter?)
edit:
Hmmm. I've already put t-zones on my clean 6.1. lol
Muncheese, it should work on all smartphones, even though I said it's for the 6.1 DEV rom.
Everything works, except I can't access any of the pictures on my album.
hey guys, new here! thanks for the t-zones cab. i needed it ever since i went 6.1 on my shadow. i was wondering if you have a cab for the myfaves.exe. i dont want to upgrade to the tmo 6.1 with all those bugs in it still. i really just need the myfaves
Great Work
I just Manually set up T-Zones. You can still access internet with T-Zones too by the way. Its a bit slower than regular internet. but hey for 5.99 a month its the cheapest on the market and google maps works fine with it. the only catch is damn MS Live is a pain for some reason the app doesnt want to use the wap connection i think there may be a registry hack for this fix will search around.
can't connect to the internet
Thanx!! great work!!
when reacently flashed my phone i was able to connect very easy and fast, but i tried a public network and didn't worked i thougt it was a trouble from the public network, once i got to my home it was not able to connect either, i try to change the type of encryption and still the same, only gets to work on a no encryption network.
Thanx again for your time.
Hey,
This version of T-Zones only works when your connected to T-Mobile's network. Also I can no longer provide support, as I don't have my shadow any longer.
Wanna remove tzone after usin...
Hey
Thanks for the application works like chic but now i wish to take it offf my T mobile Shadow so kindly help as i don;t see it in remove programs list..

Another AIM program that uses sms

Hey everyone, I have an ATT Tilt with windows 6.1. I have unlimited txt. I would like to use aim on my tilt, the only thing is that it dosent show all my buddys. Ive been googling for a program to install that still uses SMS and not data. So i came here to see if anyone knows one that is like the Oz one that comes preinstalled.
Thanks Steve
you can download the new aim mobile http://mobile.aol.com/aolproducts/aim-for-windows-mobile or get octrotalk (no visuals, use aim, yahoo, msn). you need a gmail account though to use octrotalk...you can even use gchat on it too. works well and doesnt use to much memory

Looking at the web site, it shows:
"*U.S. only. AOL Mobile services may require a wireless data plan and charges from your wireless carrier may apply. Not all AOL Mobile services are available on all wireless carriers or on all wireless devices. Check with your wireless carrier to confirm that product use is consistent with your carrier's Terms of Service."
why would you have a phone like this and NOT have data?
he could be like me and used to only have a razr but his lovely gf bought him a kaiser =]
as for the official aim program ,it uses data/wifi. i am also in search for an aim program that uses text instead of data ( data disocnnects too much where i work).
?? blackberry?
texters are for blackberrys! hehe i had a blackberry for 5 years! now i got the Tilt and never going back specialy with 6.1 a big improvment better than my last try for a windows mobile phone witch was a 8525 with 6.0 rom
data is 40 dollars. also the best messanger is www.beejive.com
its in alpha stage but, it works 100% and they wont bring it out of alpha stage. I dont not know why... cuz its a great program

change orange uk to Aussie 3 network

How can I change my HTC Touch pro 2 phone from it's designated orange UK network to the Aussie 3 Network so that I can access my3 and 3 planet apps.
The phone does work ok with the Aussie 3 sim card.
Will I need to update the Rom or upgrade the firmware ?
If yes where can I find the downloads to do this ?
I'm a bit of a novice so if you can keep the info in simple terms please
cheers

the problem you have is that 3 don't sell the TP2, so support from them will be limited/non-existent. Are 'my3' and accessed via the web browser or are they icons you click on?

That wouldnt be necessery as the handset is already unlocked.
Firstly i would install Hard SPL
Secondly i would start looking for either a standard HTC ROM or Custom ROM to remove the Orange branding, this should make things easier. With 3 AUS not selling the TP2 getting into my 3 may be awquard and i cannot help you there.

AFAIK you can access it via the browser, i know that my Orange UK stuff is accessible via the browser so i dont see why it should be an issue on 3, especially when in the UK a lot of GSM handsets are connected on 3 and can access everything.

Nope that aint true, all I did was call 3 and customer service will put you through to the internet tech support people. I told them I have a TP2, and they sent me all the settings by sms so I can use my 2 gig data plan, surf the my3 website, send and receive mms. If this doesnt work for whatever reason, pm me and I'll try get the settings for you.
As a side note, 3's data plans dont include free use of skype and msn messenger for the TP2 because the phone wont support it :S

How does the phone not support it? Palringo is a mutli-protocol IM client I use with the TP2. I also used it with my old Hermes. It does MSN, AIM, ICQ, and a ton of others. Also, there is a Skype application for Windows Mobile that is made by Skype, Inc. You can download it via their website at www.skype.com. And Palringo at www.palringo.com.
Many of these providers have 'custom' apps that they imbed into their shipped ROMS. As there is no shipped ROM from 3 AUS for the TP2, you might be pushing **** up hill. Of course they will support the device as a handset as it runs all the right frequencies etc. There's probably a proxy involved as well - that's how Telstra do it anyway for their apps like Foxtel.

That is true of what seems to be all providers with regards to the custom embedded apps, but to say that it isn't compatible with a program, is going a bit far. As for the proxy, AT&T here in the US uses one too, if I remember correctly.

What I meant was, on my 2 gig data plan, if I was to use a nokia phone for example, the data used for communicating with msn messenger and skype is not taken from the 2 gigs because there is unlimited free use of it since 3 have their own software which the user must download off their websites. There isnt such software available for windows mobile from 3, so data use for skype and msn on a win mob phone would take away from the 2 gig plan.
This is rediculous! It should be included, how hard is it for them to make a win mob version for their customers, the operating systems shouldn't affect compatability.

sorry, I wasn't saying the handset isn't compatible, but rather that it might be difficult to get what is required from the network provider, esp if it is an app.
hopefully carpkernel will be able to get to what he needs through a browser, thus removing the need for any custom telco provided app.

Ah yeah. T-Mobile in the US has a similar thing. The IM app they use, uses your text messaging as opposed to data. Thank goodness here we have unlimited data, so no need to worry about limits.

"Reasonable price" are two words that cannot be used in a sentence to describe Aussie carries for data plans. We dont even have unlimited internet plans for HOME cable and adsl 2, without the provider capping our speeds after reaching 60 gigs on most plans... how backwards are we.

The free minutes that 3 (Aus) provide are only available if you use their custom skype client which uses a dialup-gateway for access to skype network.
EDIT: I did post a whole lot of info about using iSkoot to connect to 3skype but it seems that 3 have now thwarted that so it is hopeless. You can (apparently) still use one of the java clients intended for other phones but I cannot confirm this (the old LG Shine jad I have doesn't run on my JBlend java and even if it did it would suck without any touch support or D-pad)
Thanks for your help everyone all sorted...Found the info on the Aussie 3 website. Not exactly the easiest info to find on their site but its just a simple case of putting in your mobile number on the 3 site and they supply a code. They send you a message and you type in the code and the settings are changed Automatically. Planet 3 settings are also sent to the phone so that I can use my pre paid plan. For anyone who has had the same problem cut and paste the link http://www.three.com.au/care and follow the instructions. Thanks again much appreciated.
glad it worked out for you
Thanks for posting that info, am on the 3 network too and this worked for me.
Just received my Touch Pro 2 today from an Australian online store, but I note phone has a Singapore 240V adapter and am downloading the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Singapore section of HTC after punching in the SN. Won't let me download the WM 6.5 upgrade from the Aussie Download area.
I must admit with this non aussie ROM the reception is better than my old touch pro. Carpkernel do you have access to the aussie WM 6.5 upgrade via your SN on the HTC website?
