Diamond and Touch Pro out on O2 UK when? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I have called them a few times and they have nothing on their product sheet for either of them. Does anyone have any other info to hand?

Can't tell you for the UK, but today the "O2 XDA Diamond" and the "O2 XDA Diamond Pro" variant was announced in Germany.
The "XDA Diamond" is already in stock, the "XDA Diamond Pro" is announced for late summer 2008 in Germany.
I guess the release date in the UK should not differ that much.

I am waiting for the O2 variant as well.
So far as I can tell it does not have the "diamond" back, which I think looks a bit rubbish!
Also, O2 have bundled Co-pilot SatNav with the O2 Orbits i and ii so I hope they will do similar with the XDA Diamond

I have ordered an unbranded one to replace my Tytn II. Don't wanna wait for O2 UK to release it, I did that with my Tytn II and they were far to slow. It was months after they released it in Germany. By the time I got it I felt like it wasn't new anymore. I'll get the Touch Pro as soon at it is released now, which will be middle of August - start of September.

don't know about O2, but the HTC branded Pro should be out sometime next month.
UK, Italy and Netherlands are supposed to get it first according to HTC helpline.

I know this iss an old thead but its out now on on my desk.

Will T-Mobile have the Kaiser?

I've heard AT&T will on Sept 3rd or 26th.. but what about T-Mobile?
T-mobile in Germany have released a pdf showing the MDA varioIII. Beta testers have been using a Kaiser locked to T-mobile. So I think it is safe to assume it will be released on T-mobile, the question is when and with what level handset subsidy?
I was told by my local T-Mobile store that it is expected late Sept.
T-Mob UK will have the Vario III (Kaiser) late Sept @ £280 upgrade price according the lady I spoke to yesterday. I've not seen anything firm on T-Mob US.
Gordon
so what is the deal? is the USA one going to work with 3G? or are they using different freq/bands etc...
would i have to get it from tmobile? or could i get it say from ebay?
or maybe those from Germany on ebay

Seems kinda expensive. I hope that price is for a 12 month contract renewal on T-Mobiles cheapest tariff.

Good question - what tariff that price applies to, as it seems quite expensive? I've paid £80 last year for new MDA Vario II with Flext25+WnW price plan, so I expect to get Vario III as an upgrade later on January 2008 for not more than £100 with the same plan...

Just spoke to T-Mobile UK about an upgrade, at first the girl a spoke to "had no information about the Vario III" once she realised that I knew a lot about it she then "found an email" with some information about it.
she was reluctant to give me information but i managed to get out of her that is was due out "early September", she said this could mean anything, and that the price in the email did say £280.
i Said that that was quite a lot and she said that from past experience the true price will be lower and once you take you tariff into consideration it should bring that down..... here's hoping!!!! :-D
TyTN II / T-Mobile
Today they officially announced the TyTN II for early October.
Ironic, really. The first network to confirm they're getting it (however unofficially, it's been "known" for a while now) are the last to release it.
Update I just received a few minutes ago from T-Mobile Germany:
HTC Kaiser aka MDA Vario III will be available END of October.
Yipee cant wait!

Cant wait, cant wait!, Me upgrade is due around October, so fingers crossed they have it (minus delays), i might actually go for the Tytn II rather than the ameo. Ive had the mda vario, now on hermes and find the form factor excellent.
Please dont let me down, T-mobile uk!
I know, just read the press release, October!!! my Wizard has been playing up for months now and has finally died.
I've been waiting for the Kaiser for what seems like years, you cant beat T's web n' walk, but I'm seriously considering just buying the sim free HTC version and taking the £15 discount on my tariff for not taking a phone upgrade. also i don't like what T-Mobile have done with the styling.
any clues on what Vodkafone or Orange have done with there versions or are they being released as HTC branded?

Is that £15 discount off the bill actually a real deal? Does it concern *every* customer who is not willing to take new phone, or just selected ones? Can someone confirm it?
If it's real and for everyone, I will seriously consider buying HTC-branded version and then take that discount on my renewal due January.
And me too. My T-mob 12-month contract (on Hermes) has finished last month.
£15 discount means a lot for a whole year.
When i check my online account it's just there under the upgrade and renewals section...
Just noticed though, it is £15 off for 12 months, but an 18 month contract, but still that £180 over the year, and if T-Mob are going to charge £280 for the Vario III if you buy the HTC version for around £500 there isn't that much difference e.g. £280+£180=£460 for the extra £40 i think i would prefer the unbranded HTC one.
Unbranded HTC vs T-Mobile
I would seriously you suggest you rethink that, T-mobile replaced my mda Vario II Twice, no questions asked, try getting that sort of service from HTC..thet repair it and that takes months...
Conclusion:Always buy from your carrier if you can, they have an ineterest in keeping you happy.

very good point, thanks for the advice.
I'm in down in London today on business and have just found a shop that has a demo Kaiser in store. just had a bit of a play with it.
Got really mixed emotions about it now, I've been waiting for it for months and once I had it in my hands it was like "hmm, its ok" didn't really get that wow factor I was expecting.
the funny thing is, a few weeks ago when i first held the Touch i did get that wow. so now I'm questioning my self, do i NEED the qwerty, or should i wait for the Touch II

Kaiser on UK Networks?

Does anyone know when the Kaiser is going to be released on one of the UK networks as a subsidized device? My old Magician is getting REALLY long in the tooth now, and I can't afford £480 right now...
Scancom have it as pre-order for Orange Business, but doesn't give any dates...
I can't afford £480 either, but i just ordered one last night lol
I think it should be available on T-Mobile by the end of the month maybe? (As the MDA Vario III i'd imagine).
I'd hazard a guess that it'll be out on Orange maybe by the end of the year?
Problem is the design of the MDA Vario III looks really ugly (tacky silver finish) compared to HTC's original version of the Tytn II

Another reason why i chose the HTC over the T-Mobile variant

Confused i am

hi all
I am a bit confused ( dont take much these days) is the HTC TYTN II the Kaiser, as they look very similar and when i google it thats what i find..
also as anyone got one recently from t-mobile as i am due a upgrade and how much did they pay for it.
Cheers for the help
Neel
Yes the Kaiser was renamed the TyTN II. Not sure about your second question.
HTC Kaiser / HTC TyTn II / T-Mobile Vario III = all the same thing
(except the Vario looks cheap and nasty)
T-Mobile is a worldwide company and people from across that world read this forum. Which T-mobile are you talking about?
I'm referring to the UK variant.

Sorry, that wasn't directed at you, but at the OP.
i am in the UK
As far as I know Kaiser is/was the name given by HTC during the development of the device. It is now sold as the HTC Tytn II. TMobile UK are selling/will be selling this as the MDAvario III. Vodaphone UK will also carry this device as V165 or something similar. All of these devices are manufactured by HTC. Most providers will have their own customised ROM installed. Currently we are unable to CID unlock these devices and so we are stuck with default provider ROMs. Eventually I am sure Pof or some other genius on here will work out how to CID unlock them and then the fun begins with our own customised ROMs.
Yep they are all Kaisers = generic name for all of them
TyTn II is the one sold under the HTC name and then as said above you have all the other variants as well.

HTC Diamond on 02

Hi, Really cant wait to upgrade my phone to the diamond (currently have the orbit) My contract is up for renewal now.
Does anyone have any idea of when 02 will release it? I havr rang them and they have no idea, but they did the same for the orbit 2, she said she had never heard of it and it was in the 02 shops a few days later.
Which country?
The german O2 homepage says June 2008.
TDO
As far as I'm aware, it's coming out in June. However, all of the O2 XDA Diamond news seems to be coming from Germany...
i would think all the UK operators will release at the same time - thoughts are currently around 1st July

ETA on O2?

has anyone got any information about when the Diamond will be released on O2?
This may have been answered else were but I could not find it.....
Thanks for any light you guys can shed on this.
Search on o2 site O2 Xda Diamond
Last week in July according to O2. XDA Mantel, then the Ignito with is the Touch Pro on the 12th August.

A gentleman rang me up earlier today about it and unfortunately I haven't got any information on that.
We normally get information on new releases a month before they are launched and we dont have anything on that.
I suggest you call up in a few weeks time.

Just call O2 and if they say they have not go any info ask them to check their sheets. I did and she told me everything. She did not have any info other than name and date though.
Just spoke to o2 Staff accounts, the XDA Mantle due by the end of July is the HTC P6500 and the XDA Ignito is the Diamond (not pro) and due on the 12 august
As I suspected!
Thanks

Spoke with O2 yesterday
The Diamond is coming. It is due to be release Late august but in O2 terms he reckons this could be early september. This is apparently due to some un-named network (Orange) getting the rights to sell to consumers exclusivly
If you must have the phone the only place currently to get it is Orange but i would touch there network with a Barge pole
Cheers

Oh dear. Things are not looking to good for an august release.......
I got my Diamond ( from O2 Germany ) on 5 of July.
I was one of the first to get it (Premium Custumer)
Ghostrider
i phoned o2 3 days ago to enquire, they said end of september, into october. They have phoned me 15 times now in two days, guess they think thats how to retain customers. Needless to say, I signed up with orange
I would have rather had the Diamond on O2 and the iPhone on Orange!!!
