Diamond Charging Time - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

hello,
I´ve experienced a long-time charging with my diamond device: this is my 3rd charged and it started at 14.30 and it´s more than 22.10 hours and still one little-gap to be fully charged. Is this normal??? It´s been charged with the 3G (HSDPA) on, and using vodafone real mail connected (HSDPA connection opened to receive emails), but I remember my treo 750v it only took 2 hours or 3 as maximum to be fully charged. WHat do you think about this???
thanks

Perhaps, your charger battery has a problem, like for exemple, it does not deliver enough power. Did you try with another one or charge it with your PC ?

The USB cable does probably NOT provide quite enough energy to compensate for the connections you've switched on. If you have your WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS (one or combination) on, it even drains the battery quicker.
Let's say your phone requires 100mAh to run using the open connections and the USB delivers between 80-120mAh. Of course this is an example with random numbers... just to explain what I mean.
So either the power consumption of your phone is higher than the power the USB can give: this leaves the phone discharging slowly. Or the phone is being charged, but very slowly.
Conclusion: Better use the 230V charger!

As I explained... USB doesn't give much juice. If the device uses more energy than the USB can give (or almost the same) charging takes very long.
Simply use the 230V charger, and see how fast that goes! I guarantee that works.

Just as a sidenote, usb gives 500mAh.

This charging time is the first one that i´ve charged the diamond while the real mail of vodafone (HSDPA connection was always on to get push mail) so i suppose this can affect at charging velocity don´t you think?¿?
but instead of that, it´s really amazing how slow was the charging bc i´ve also a treo 750v and never remember to be so slow even with the push mail on...

So you think that the first charge was not done correctly cause of the push-mail and his power need, right ?
Usualy, I leave my device off 12h during the first charge.

hello,i am going to change my diamond this afternoon.at first it comes with some battery, what do u recommend me?make a full charge bf any kind of use or use till the battery run out of power?

i have the same problem. Full charging takes more than 10 hours, no matter if i use USB or the charging device...if i turn the phone completely off, it doesn´t charge at all.

Why do you need a HSDPA Connection (Mails), when you charge via USB? Not possible to use ActiveSync for Internetaccess?

Can you use someone else's battery to try. Your battery may have just died, some do from time to time.
mmm
I'm not sure, but I don't think it's a battery death problem.
When I turn off it, I CAN CHARGE IT with pc.
I've noticed that if it's turned on, no charge.
If it's turned off, from 15% is now 36% of charge.
WHY???
So if you leave the phone turned off and connected to the PC for a few hours does the battery recharge to 100% and then the orange light change to green? If you then turn the phone on does the light still go out after a couple of minutes? The current draw will be lower when the battery is 100% charged (as it will be when charging while the phone is off). Some PC's can be flakey with high current draw devices on the USB port.
In the situation you described when the light goes off, will the phone still remain connected via Active Sync (or Vista equivalent)? I'm trying to weed out whether the USB connection has anything to do with it. As for those mains chargers, my one (which came with the PPC) worked about 4 times and the first time I had to recharge the PPC from a totally flat battery it died about 3 seconds into the charge. There was a loud click from the charger and it's light extinguished so I dont have much faith in the mark 2 chargers supplied to UK customers. I'm currently waiting on a different warranty replacement - hopefully like the original type with interchangable 'head' to suit different countries.
now it's not fully recharged, but I've just now turned on the phone and the % is growing.
I've always recharged my phone via pc because I left it connected to my pc at work every day during the working day.
only sometime I recharge it via wall plug at home.
dunno why but from yesterday the wall plug works 2 (or less) minutes and the pc is not anymore able to charge the phone.
now, with all the phone switched off (so, also activesync connection closed), the pc can recharge it.
ARGH

Do you use a other AC loader.... use only the org. AC loader !!!!
Install batt. status and take a look... you must wait a few min. before the batt is charged.

Hey I have the same problem... I am on the original HTC Rom.
All of a sudden today the batt is not charging on the wall socket or the PC USB cable.
There is no light whatsoever, The active sync is also not connecting.
I have hard resetted even then the same problem, I am guessing it is a hardware & not a software problem coz I didnt install any new prog/app since last time I charged.
Now I have removed the Batt, will reattach and check in about 15 mins lets hope it works...
Shall update soon.

Nope, Removing the battery and waited for 30 mins reconnected the batt still not working.
Nor is my kaiser charging while the phone is switched off.
The problem is notof the USB port coz the USB headphones are working fine..
I got a battery problem as well. Problem started 3 days ago (20/12-07)
My problem is that the battery drains to fast.. disconnected it around 02:00 when I was of to bed, (battery 100%) but when I woke up again around 09:00 the phone was dead. Thats only 7 hours.. and in standby mode!
I'm on the original HTC UK ROM and I have only installd a couple programs like the Kaiser Tweak, Handysafe, Wififofum, Sprite backup, Citrix client, puTTY, PocketRAR, Total Commander, TCPMP, Flash player, PK NewWarningColorBatteryClean3G, HTC GPRSmonitor.
So I'm guessing one of these programs drains the battery even when the phone in on sleep.... the ones I installed since 20/12-07 is PocketRAR, TCPMP, Flash player, PK NewWarningColorBatteryClean3G.
Has anyone had battery problems after installing these..
Any help is appreciated.
it is a hardware problem
when I hold the cable of the charger and push it against the usb port it does charge. when I stop pushing it stops charging.

Stop USB charge

Hello,

You could take your USB cord, strip a section of it, and snip the ground

Charging batteries, which are not fully drained, can cause them to become worn out too soon. Also disconnecting the cable without the batteries to be fully charged can also support the premature ageing of the batteries. Usaly its no problem if it happens once in a while, but its the sum of occurrances that makes the battery to grow old real fast.
By "worn out" and "aged", I mean it loses capacity.
This question may sound stupid, but where can I find the relating registry?
You need Total Commander to edit your registry. But beware that if you edit something thats not right, you can destroy your phone.
Physically the battery will be charged all the same though also indication will not work. It is checked up.
Simple:
Just go to
Start Up
Settings
Click on Power icon
click on Advanced tab
.uncheck When device is turned on, so not charge the battery when connected to the PC.
That's all.
1. Connect to usb not completely charged device
2. Remember current percent of a charge of the accumulator
3. In 15-20 minutes reload the device
4. The percent of a charge becomes above, than was before experiment.
?!?

thanks. that'll be good for using GPS in the car and not having enough juice!
you just need to be aware that depending on the curretnt your car usb port thing can put out it is possible that you can't charge the battery as fast as you're consuming from it. so you'd just be extending battery life but not making it last as long as it's plugged in.
depending on the output of the USB charger that is being used in the car, you may be ok. I noticed that when I had TomTom running with GPS and the backlight turned up, battery status was reporting around 270 ma being drawn from the battery, so as long as that is accurate, and the charger can put out more than that, then you should be ok.
Thanks guys. Its quite likely the consumption will be at a rate higher than charging. I'll have to do some tests

My X1 has no power (pls help)

HELP!
Last night, i've been using internet thru my x1. Before I slept, my battery is full charge. Until i woke up this morning, i found out that my x1 was off. So I press the power button but there's no power at all. I tried to charge it but it seems that it also didn't charge the battery (no blinking lights on 4 sides corner of unit). I tried to soft reset even hard reset but still no power. What will I do? Is there a possibility that my x1 can fix? How? Do I need to reprogram the unit? Anyway, i didn't upgrade the system of my unit that's why I have no idea why my x1 dont have power.
PLS HELP ME!
I want to bring back my beloved X1 to its normal.
I know the mean of what you say,but my English is so-so,so I can't express well....if the power is empty, you have to charge the battery by this........
what if its still not working if I use that kind of charger? is there any other way?
Sorry I don't know, but I have to say, when I bought the X1,the seller tolds me the WM system have to use this kind charger to charge for 5 minutes when the power is empty...and then you can use the line charger...
but as far as i remember, the last time that i used my x1, it was full charge before i slept last night. but when i woke up, my unit was totally off. how come that the battery was drain?
I don't have the problem like this.....sorry....or it is the battery's problem??
hey...can you understand what I say?My English is not good,haha...sorry
Oh...is 2:15 AM in China,too late,I have to sleep now,see you tomorrow..haha...
How old is the battery.
It life span maybe over and it will lose the charge rapidly.
Use the included wall charger to charge your X1 for a few hours. Then it will start again.
Battery age should not be the problem here, the X1 is not THAT old.
Sent from my XPEROID using XDA App

u probably have left on the wifi, which drains the battery like hell, that is why you have the problem.
I have no other charger than the usb one and when that happened to me I left my x1 for 30min to max 2 hrs charging and it is now working again.
I have had this issue more than once and trust me there is no issue at all for me, so dont dispair.

i didn't use wifi that night. actually my x1 was connected to my laptop thru usb because i was transfering songs from my laptop to x1. then i tried to open my facebook thru x1 while my phone connected to laptop. then i disconnect my x1 because i will shut down my laptop. on the next day when i woke up, my x1 was totally off. i tried to hard reset but it didn't boot. by the way, my laptop was connected to internet broadband.
Do you think that is the reason why my x1 got that kind of problem?
One night i had same problem. but next day i discovered that power option of my X1 sets on: "Turn off device if not used for(on external power): not selected"
and apparently power consumption of my x1 was greater than charging by USB!
there is only on way to solve your problem! Direct Battery Charging!!
you cant charge your phone by wall charger! you must charge the battery directly with power supply.

[Q] tytn ii battery issue

hi guys,
when i power on my kaiser (with the stock rom) and the phone gets to the welcome screen i can hear a dead battery sound and the phone powers itself off. tried hard reset, flashing a new rom, changing radio, buying a new battery, charging battery using charger wires..nothing seems to work . If i flash a new rom like wm 6.5 the phone shows me radio version, protocol version and rom version ( R G D ), the light dim's and the phone shuts down.
when i connect the charger a yellow led turns on..i left the phone charging for one whole day but the light is still yellow
any solutions? thanx in advance
go look for the exe file called powerdetect.exe this is a small program listed in the TytN II service manual that is used to check the battrey health. I suspect the batt needs to be replaced.
the battery is ok. i've tried with several batteries and the result is the same
What charger are you using? Motorola v9 charger wont do. I had similar power off issue when starting up a unused unit. Only able to charge with original charger 5v 1000ma. OR try charging it through the PC USB port. If you have a notebook, just leave it in sleep mode for overnight charging
I've got a similar problem but usually when i make or accept calls the phone switches off
My phone is a Kaiser 130 which runs on 5 volts but the battery i got with it (bought it on ebay) is Kais 160 which runs at 3.7 volts???? Also the mains charger i got with phone is a 5v.
I just did a power test using the program below till the battery was dead and then plugged into my laptop to recharge and within 2 mins battery is up to 72%???
can anyone who has a Kaiser 130 from new tell me the original battery voltage and code please

every kaiser has a 3.7 volts battery..are you sure the phone turns off when you make or receive a call? My guess is that only the screen turns off (sleep mode - same as pressing the red button) because your ear can touch the screen and acces random menus etc

That´s the problem
are you sure? ..'cause i spent a lot of money on a new original battery later to find out that the problem isn't from my battery..don't want to do the same with the flex cable..i found one around 40 €
which flex cable are you talking about? Do you have a second unit that you can do a part swap to see if it is actually the cable issue?

the main flex cable, which connect the two parts. Unfortunately i don't have a second unit..
Hi Giany,
had a battery problem not the same as yours by the sounds of it but solved it by installing the orange shipped rom which comes with radio.
might be worth a try.
good luck

already tried with no result. thanks for the answer
I have the same issue... .-(
The phone just switches off completely with any hint of longer usage (phone call longer than 1 min or so, garmin mobile xt barely makes to searching of satellites). I use original stock ROM.
Unused (no phone calls) it can last for two days. I have tested it with brand new/unused prepaid sim.
I took it to authorized HTC service center, but unfortunately they do not support it any more due to lack of parts.
Anybody else have this issue? Or clue to what might be wrong. I really love this phone…

ok..so i disconnected the flex cable from the mainboard and I connected the speaker and the battery. I powered on the phone, waited for like 30 seconds and i heard the dead battery sound..could it be a short-circuit on the mainboard or this is normal?

Hi,
I have the same problem. Do you know how to fix it?
Tks,
Tonny
Same / Similar Problem
I have the same (or at least quite similar) problem here. Only with me, I think it's the micro USB port that needs changing. There is two visible cracks which maybe stopping the flow of electricity.
When I plug it into a charger, either wall or to my PC, it turns on fine, and can stay on aslong as it's plugged in. (sort of makes it like a desktop then, doesn't it ). The problem is that it doesn't charge.
I am using ahmed fikry's 6.5 Kaiser ROM but do not seem to have had any problem with it so far. I also run Ubuntu and Android through HaRet.
replacing the flex cable worked for me..i found one at about 30€. Hope this helps
