Tilt Camera won't save pictures - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

don't use the camera often, but recently, I found when taking a picture, all is normal, good scene on screen, autofocus, etc and when I shoot the picture, it does not save. Running a Tilt, stock ROM, and have tried various camera/album combinations trying to find one that works. Currently with Navadi version 5. Interestingly enough, I can take video and it works well, just will not save still photos. Camera program sees my storage card, everything seems normal, except no photo file after snapping the shot. I am out of ideas.

i think it is saving them to the dcim folder on ur sd card

Nope, nothing there. It does not even go through the usual motions of freezing the frame for a second while saving. I have scoured the phone and card and find nothing.

Fire up schaps advanced config, check the "Save location" under "Camera" and "Default storage locatin for images" under "Locations".
By combining the two you should be able to find it. I left the DCIM option on once and took me ages to find the photo, but it was in a DCIM folder on my storage card, somewhere...
Also,
Use total commander or resco file explorer to search for the files. *.jpg for example

Thanks, already tried all of that, seems there is either a software or hardware issue with saving pictures. I am beginning to believe it is a hardware issue, although a curious one indeed. I am pretty good with these devices and this one has me stumped, never lost to a computer yet, though. If it is a hardware issue, maybe tough to fix.

I have a similar problem: taking pictures works fine and it saves them in the correct folder on my storage card, as I set it in Advanced Config.
But whenever I take a GPS photo, I can't find the pictures anywhere. Are GPS photos being saved somewhere else I don't know about? If so, does anyone know which folder they're saved to? If not, has anyone else had this particular problem?

The GPS photos are stored in \My Documents\My POI (or \Storage Card\My Documents\My POI if you've chosen to store your pictures on your SD card).

I've had similar issues with mine (also running the stock AT&T ROM). What I've found is that the "press halfway to autofocus, but all the way to take the picture" thing often makes me believe that I've taken the picture, when I haven't. If I am more careful about pushing the button in all the way, it'll take the photo and save it.

Yes, I actually found out about the same time you posted this reply.
Thanks for your help!

Possibly related issue: My tilt camera will save fine to device storage, but if I tell it to save to the SD card, I get nothing. If I catch the photo while it is displayed for review, and click the mail button, I can send it in an email. Even stranger, if I take a jpeg, and copy/paste it to the DCIM folder, it never appears, but I can write to other parts of the card fine.
I think this is a software problem, not hardware.
EDIT:
Found solution on another thread. Camera dosen't like folders created already on the card, so to solve, just delete the DCIM folder, and restart camera.

My Kaiser is freaking me out

Ok. This is weird. I've been using my phone to tether these past 2 days. Racked in about 800mb of usage.
Heres the weird part:
I was going to show my friend a picture and I opened up my photos. I only had about 10 pictures in there to begin with but when I opened it I had over 100 pictures. They were pictures of parts of sites I had visited while tethering. I had a picture of Chumley EX's Avatar the one with the little kitten in the bag, had pictures of banners from websites, pictures of random people from myspace, they all appear to be little GIF images. I manually deleted them but when I go to view pictures I have empty spaces with a Circle with a slash through it. Like a stop smoking sign. What's wrong?
By the way when I click on the blank spot where a picture is supposed to be (the stop smoking circle looking icon) it says "Unable to open this type of "JPEG" file. On some others I get " Cannot delete '0' The file is in use"
Update***
I fixed it. How did I do it you may ask? By default pictures are stored in memory at in the DCIM-100MEDIA folder. I copied allt he pictures in the 100MEDIA folder. (those weird pictures were no where to be found in there by the way). I copied them in the my documents folder on device memory. After verifying my pictures copied successfully I deleted the DCIM folder on sD card and created a new DCIM folder with a folder called 100MEDIA in it. I copied all my pictures back in the sD and voila problem solved. Kind of freaky how it saved pictures from sites I visited while tethering. Asa precautuion I'm going to move all info from sD card and reformat it.

Camera & Photo Location

Hi all,
I was trying to find a solution to the problem which I would like to solve but couldn't therefore decided to ask you guys.
First, I would like to automatically save camera photos in my extern memory which is done in Camera settings. However, if I want to save into a specific location within the extern memory, how do I do that? It saves photos in My Documents by default?
Second, how do I set HTC Album to automatically look in that folder rather than selecting the folder each time I start the album?
Hope there is a solution for that

...QUOTE]
I have same problem, new pictures was saved to my documents folder, not my documents\my pictures. Solution found by mistake was to open camera from start->programs->camera and take photo, after that camera saved pictures in correct location (My Pictures, can be edited with register HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\p...) even when camera was strated via touchflo3d

not working
I tried your solution but didn't work!
However, after a research on the net, I found the followings:
In registry; change
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\AppDefSettings\Image\SaveFolder\My Pictures
to e.g.
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\AppDefSettings\Image\SaveFolder\Camera Photos
and soft reset! but still, it save images to My Documents!!!

You must change the registry for each camera function, P1 to P10
and change the following registery key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\P9]
"SaveFolder"="\\Intern geheugen\\My Documents\\Mijn video's"
The SaveFolder is a String Value and you have to type it like: \External memory\My Documents\My pictures
So without the 2 backslashes !!!!

How to move files received via BT

Hello, I have got a question. When I receive photos via BT I can, without any problems find them in file explorer. But how can I move them in such a way, to be able to see them in photo gallery in Touchflow?
Regards, fck.
move to Internal Storage/My Documents/My Pictures
Obvious really isn't it?!?!
Obvious as hell. The point is, in my case it's not working.
Regards, fck.
May I ask which ROM do you use? as this can be ROM dependent
May I suggest a couple of programs that may help
1) HTC4_Inbox A program that saves BT transferred files to storage card Start -> Settings -> Connections -> OBEX Inbox to choose where u want to recieve files.
2) Advance Config 3.3 a useful tool that allows you to specify the mapping of folders like;
My Documents
My Videos
Etc
I am using the Aztor x2 Ultimate. I am familiar to Advanced config application, I am using it for battery saving features. The problem is, why no photos are beeing displayed in the photo album although they are in correct location.
Hi,
All i'm doing is copying images to my \\internal storage\my documents\my pictures and they always appear right away in Tf3d.
What is the path you have for your images?

question: photo save location.

i tried alot of things also registery editing trying to get my photo save location out of my documents.
i want my photos to save them to internal storage/PICTURES.
now i always get them into internal storage/my documents/my pictures.
after some register editing i managed to get them into internal storage/my documents.
but how to just get them into the root map of internal storage and then the folder /PICTURES.
thank you for answers

X1 Vanishing Files in Micro SD Card

Gang,
I believe I've found a thread that describes a problem similar to mine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=552826
It talked about the camera folder messing up. But in that thread, at least they can still see the files, but having the wrong file sizes. Mine just vanishes.
Here is what I'm experiencing right now. I took about 10 pictures sequentially, was able to view them via Resco Photo Viewer (This has been my pic viewer ever since). Then after a few days when I wanted to show them to a friend, the contents in my \DCIM\100XPRIA\ folder in the SD card were all wiped out clean! Another thing I noticed is that every time I go into this folder, it takes a while before I get control of my phone again (around 10 seconds after), after that, it shows me nothing. I tried taking pictures again, the camera app was complaining about not being able to take the picture. The next thing I did was to rename the DCIM folder to "DCIM Temp", then created another DCIM folder. I was able to take pictures again, and guess what, all the missing pictures reappeared in "DCIM Temp"! I was able to open the pictures again. But again after a few days, the new pictures in DCIM\100XPRIA have gone missing. I tried the folder renaming technique again but it didn't work anymore. I couldn't take pictures again. The next thing I did was to change the "Save To" option of the Camera App to save to phone instead of memory card. I was able to take pictures, was able to open the pictures via Resco Photo Viewer, but then when I transferred the pictures to the SD card, again I couldn't open the picture. I was thinking it might be a faulty SD card, but how come only pictures that were taken by the X1 camera have this problem? All of my documents can be opened, pictures from other sources can also be opened, videos etc. Only the X1 camera pictures have multiple problems (either vanishing or can't be opened).
I currently have an R3A ROM, with a 16GB Sandisk micro SD card. I never take the SD card out, I always use the supplied USB cable to connect the X1 to my computer as a flash drive. I first noticed this problem when I still had R2A. But I never thought of it as a camera problem, because I just thought the SD card got corrupted when one time I pulled the USB cable from my PC too quickly, and got that "delayed write failure" balloon message from Vista. The symptoms I've experienced that time was the phone being unresponsive for 10secs when I try to go into some folders (like the DCIM folder I have explained at the start of this post). That prompted me to reformat the SD card and took the opportunity to upgrade to R3A. Right now when I step back and try to remember those affected folders in the SD Card (when still in R2A), I seem to recall all of them having at least 1 file that came from the camera app, like:
\DCIM\100XPRIA
\My Documents\My Pictures\Family
\My Documents\My Pictures\Gadgets
.
.
All the pictures the camera took go straight to \DCIM\100XPRIA, I then rename some of them and transfer to these other folders.
Does the X1 camera app have problems creating its output files? If yes, is there a patch or 'new' ROM I can install to get rid of this problem? I really hope someone can help me.
Thanks for your time.
Any takers? I hope somebody has experienced this problem and can guide me through, thanks!
I haven't heard or experienced this problem yet. I think you should try formatting the card again after you backup. Then before reloading the files, test to see if the same thing happens to your pictures.
