Outlook 2007 & Activesync Major Headache - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Ok probably asked loads but had a search and couldn't seem to find anything that matched my problem,
I have a kaiser tilt and i use outlook 2007 i have got all my outlook contacts and appointments on the pc but when i connect the device it syncs the files and stuff but not my contacts or appointments. But it does sync from the phone as in i made a test contact and a test appointment on my phone connected the phone and bam it was there in outlook. But going from pc to phone is another matter and its driving me insane anyone care to offer wise words ?
Little Update it now syncs the appointments made on both the phone and the computer but still only copies contacts from the phone to outlook and won't go from computer to phone on the contacts part which is driving me up the wall and yes the box for contacts is ticked on the sync list .

sorry if this seems a little silly
but have you checked active syc settings?
making sure your contacts and calender are checked?

Yeah, check settings on the phone to make sure contacts are being pushed over, also do you have an exchange acct set up with a separate outlook sync account? If so you'll only be able to sync contacts from one source, not both.

USB to PC Connections
Do you have USB to PC in Connections checked. Sometimes either checking it or unchecking will solve sync problems.

Yep i have in sync and outlook and on the phone all seems fine, little update i have now installed Outlook 03 and its working fine.Must be a dodgy issue with activ and Outlook but i now have another problem but just with outlook i can't get rid of the old email account from 07 its just like (says my email were you click and it expands ) but it wnt expend and says how to remove it when you go to remove it its not available to remove kinda like a glitch i spose any ideas ?

Have you (on your phone) done, Start/Programs/Activesync (depending on ROM might be elsewhere)/Menu/Choose what to sync? This needs to be done w/ the phone currently un-synced!

I have Outlook 03 installed along with Office 07

well... you should stay with outlook 03 with office 03 or outlook 07 with office 07. having outlook 03 and office 07 will cause you problems in the long run as outlook 03uses word 03 as its editor (unless u use outlooks lame editor), all office apps in general are closely tied to one another and will cause problems later down the road if you mismatch versions. your best bet is to stick with either the whole suite of office 03 or the whole suite of office 07.
as for your problem, are you using the activesync cd from the box that came with your phone? i do believe the tilt came out before 07 which means you proably have an older version of activesync. you can download the newest version of activesync from microsoft's website (as far as i know, 07 was written completely different from 03 so activesync may not be handling syncing correctly). also, since 07 is relatively new, make sure you get all your updates when you install office 07

Please Help!! Cannot sync with outlook 2007

Im having problems syncing my wing with outlook 2007. I never had this problem when using outlook 2003. It would go through the whole sync process, but nothing will sync except notes. No contacts, calender or tasks. Im using active sync 4.5 . I get the support code 8007000e which says my device doesnst have enough memory to sync?? Ive never had this problem before.
Well the herald does have a memory problem, and Ii have seen quite a few ROMS with memory leaks also, (multiple instances of phone opened for example) seems like the obvious that you should edit your pagepool to allow for more program memory if you have not done so already.
yah my pagepool is at 6 right now. I dont understand why its happening now and was fine before i installed outlook 07
Is outlook installed on a XP machine or on a vista ?
outlook is installed on a xp machine
my friend is running outlook 2007 on a vista pc, i have never heard him talk about this problem ...
I had to run an 8mb page pool for active sync to work ok with my exchange server. Even after a soft reset it complained about memory when it was set to a 6mb page pool.
I actually found out the problem. Apparently theres a problem with activesync where you cant have notes with your appointments. Doesnt make sense but once i deleted my appointment that had a note attached it worked fine. Weird???

Hmm, weird. I've never had the problem and I use Office 2007 with XP, but then again I don't have any appointments with notes on them. When I get back to work (shortly) I will add a note to a calendar appointment and see if I can duplicate the problem.
**** ok, tried this. I added notes on the appointment itself and had no issues. Did you mean you 'attached' a note to the appointment? Or just added notes in the provided spots on the appointments?

ActiveSync Question

Hi, this might not belong in this forum but hopefully my question can be answered quickly.
I have all my contacts in Outlook 2003, and ActiveSync is set up to sync contacts, but when my Tilt and computer sync, the contacts from my outlook don't go onto my Tilt. Conversely, I made a contact on my Tilt and synced, and I could not find it in my Outlook.
How do I get the contacts from my Outlook 2003 onto my Tilt?

If you are having problems with Outlook sync, I would suggest this if no-one else comes up with an alternative.
Make sure you have the latest A-sync (4.5xxx) installed.
Back up your phone with SPB or something similar if you can.
Delete the Activesync association in 'Activesync' on your device and then go through the process of setting it up again when you connect to your PC/laptop.
Once this is done, select 'Replace all data on device...' which will give a CLEAN sync and will put all data from your PC/laptop back on your device.
I tried that, and it didn't seem to work. The phone sync's fine, but nothing goes onto the phone. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
OK, one last thought.. If you have tried this before, your PC may be holding the association name.
Before you connect the phone, Open Activesync on the PC, go to 'File' 'Delete Mobile device' and remove all references...
May work?
I tried both.
I flashed to the HTC rom from the Tilt rom. Looks like I'll be flashing back to Tilt to see if that's the problem.

Really wierd?? you cant sync at all??
It SAYS it's all synced, but the contacts are not on my phone.
edit: Looks like it wasn't the rom's fault. The Tilt rom also won't sync my contacts.
same problem with AS
same here
since i upgrade my xda iis to pdaviet wm6. i just select the contact to be synchronize. in AS its show syncronize 150 contact, when i put my device on the cradle.
but when its done. nothing seem to be copied
i try to add 1 contact manualy in my device and sync, it copied to outlook. so the opposite, when i add contact in my outlook, it copied to my device contact. but not the rest ...
i havent try with other rom nor other ver outlook
i use winXP SP2 with ms outlook 2007. my xda on pdaviet 5.80.02 WWE, ROM date 12/06/07
any sugest would be helpful
regards
I had the same problem with activesync saying it had copied over over contacts but nothing appeared (using outlook 2007 by the way).
So i plugged it into another laptop that had outlook 2007 installed and it synced no problem over activesync
So i guessed that there was some sort of courruption or error on my main desktop pc.
Fixed the whole problem by installing the latest office service pack.
Syncs perfectly now
sync problem with tilt
I had a problem sync'ing the tilt- xp/pro and office 07
I finally found out there were other versions of office on the machine, and apparently it didnt know where to point to outlook.
Uninstalled previous versions of office, cleaned the registry, and like magic, it worked fine.
Many hours spent finding this out. Had help from Mr. Bean.
I hope this helps.

wm6 outlook 2003 contact sync issues

this is driving me nuts... first off the specs:
phone:
t-mobile wing
windows mobile 6 pro ce 5.2.1235 build 17740.0.2.0
factory settings (just got done clearing back to defaults)
computer:
xp pro 64 bit
outlook 2003
outlook connector synced to hotmail account
active sync 4.5
now the problem:
outlook has total control over my contacts... when i make changes to contacts in my phone, they get erased by the outlook contacts when i resync my phone to my computer... basically, if i want to have a number changed in my phone, i have to do it in outlook and sync it...
when i try to go to the sync settings, the option to change the direction is grayed out and i can't change anything... otherwise i would have my phone sync to my computer and not the other way around...
i have removed all partnerships, uninstalled and reinstalled outlook and active sync, defaulted my phone back to day 1, etc etc etc... how do i get this setting back from the dead???
thanks in advance,
bennie

I have seen others with a similar issue around here, I would run a quick search for their issue threads to see if they got a resolution, cant remember for sure myself.
Also might try the T-Mobile Wing forum as they migth have a more specific solution to the phone, but I dont think its the phone itself I think its windows being flakey again

Try sync the other way around. push the sync button on your mobile device. Not the sync button on your pc.
That should work

Diamond2 changing my birthdays and holidays

Has anyone else seen this, when i look on the phone calendar all the birthdays and bank holidays have been brought forward a day. Xmas day now the 24th Boxing day the 25th. I'm now scared to use activesync in case it then changes everything in outlook.
My guess is that this has to do with different time-zones. In march several appointments shifted one hour on my old device. Damn you MS!
If you're scared about your PC Outlook, back your database up before connecting the D2. It's a .pst file in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
This problem ?
http://liveside.net/main/archive/2009/04/22/windows-live-calendar-update.aspx
All my birthdays and holliday in the contacts of my diamond 2 are shown a day to early aswell. In Exchange my weddingday is 26 september 2007 but in my phone it says 25 september 2007. This happens with all birthdays and holidays. Hope someone find a fix soon. Date and time settings on my phone are the same as my exchange 2007. And outlook 2007 displays them correct aswell.
I don't think it is a D2 issue because I used to get that problem on my cruise. I decided it was something to do with syncing the data with either google calendar or activesync.
i think that is has to do with regionals settings. My topaz did the same and i changed the regional settings and the time zone, deleted the pim file and i syncronized again. The problem solved.
How to delete the PIM file? Or should I just setup exchange active sync all over again?

All i did to fix this was delete my activesync settings on the phone. Make sure all the birthdays and holidays were correct in outlook. Some were, some had been changed then re-enterd my server details details. Its been OK since.
Reconfigured active sync and all seems well now. Thanks.

[Q] HTC HD7 Outlook synchronization not possible

HTC HD7 with WM7 - there is no provision to synchronise with microsoft outlook using Activesync or Windows Mobile Device Centre.
Alternate way of using Exchange Activesync does look complicated
Please address the issue
This has been Answered
There are some workarounds & a 3rd party app, the solutions have been posted and can be easily found with a simple search (here is a hint, CompanionLink for outlook, Windows Live Connector, Gmail Sync). This is a very hot issue and I suspect there will be more solutions forthcomming
Cheers

My Milage
I tried the Hotmail connector, I had some issues, it seemed to have problems dealing with more than 250 contacts. I am using the Demo version of CompanionLink and syncing to my gmail acct and that is working very nicely.

I followed method two from the two ways to sync and worked just fine. I kind of like getting away from Outlook anyway. Hotmail/Windows Live is great since it can used through any computer contected to the internet to update contacts, phone numbers, etc. But I could see if this is an issue if you primarily use Outlook.

The problem I have is my company isn't running Exchange so for me to get my calendar and contacts I need a way to sync with Outlook.
I've tried Hotmail Connector and it works well for a one time sync but if you have a lot of changes to your calendar I have to make the changes in Outlook and Hotmail.
I refuse to pay $40 for something that should work out of the box.

Unfortunately, both are cloud solutions, which are unacceptable to me for both security and privacy.
If the WM7 device were seen as an external storage device (apparently doable via the registry), does anyone know whether this could faciliate a direct USB sync with Outlook 2010 32-bit?
Both solutions are OK for a one off copy of Calender & Contacts but do not perform a true contniuous Sync with Outlook and do not handle TASKS

if you are not ready to play with the cloud, I don't think wp7 is for you. They seem very serious about making the cloud an integral part of the OS going forward.

no microsoft myphone. All syncing goes through your live email address (like hotmail). For me, I had all my contact info on gmail because of playing on android with my hd2.
1. Logged into hotmail
2. clicked on import contacts under the contacts view
3. Clicked on gmail and followed the instructions
Took about 10 minutes.
For outlook I'm pretty sure you can do something similar, though I think you might need outlook connector from the marketplace to bridge it over from outlook to hotmail. You will only have to do this once, but then I guess your outlook will not be a syncable acct on you phone.
Just looked on my hotmail and it says to export your outlook contacts to a file that you can then upload to hotmail.
I'm a Windows Mobile User for 2 years now (SE Xperia X1) and loved the way I can sync it with outlook.
I have all my contacts (approx 500) in outlook and also use the calendar (+5000 items)
I've spent some time in the past to get the info on my contacts straight and I'm very disappointed about the lack of synchronisation options between WP7 and outlook.
Why does everything needs to be cloud-based.
I don't sync every day, but neither use outlook on everyday basis.
I never experienced syncing problems on either calender/notes/contacts or mail.
I have read something about features that will be added in the near future into WP7 and hope that local outlook synchronisation is one of them.
Hi guys,
I`m new to WM7 and i`m trying t sync my contacts as well. I don`t use Outlook and idon`t have an account. Is there any other way to get my contacts on te phone?
Thanks
So the windows 7 software allows syncing to google calender, email and contacts?
I'm stunned that there is no native support for Outlook synchronization with Exchange - this is old school and what I consider a core component of any smartphone I purchase.
I've just bought a HD7 assuming it would have this functionality (why would I check for this on a Windows phone, next I'll need to check the thing makes calls), guess I'm going to have to sell it on.
There maybe Third party solutions but I can't imagine they're ever going to work as well as a direct sync with the Exchange server in my office, giving Contacts, Tasks, Calendar Items, etc.
Absolutely gutted.
B
Of course there's native support.
If you have an exchange server, you have ZERO to worry about.
The issue is people who use Outlook for Pop and Imap. Or people who just use it for tasks and contacts. Without a Hotmail Connector, there is no way to interface with Outlook like the old school Active Sync did.
Again though, If you have Exchange, it works exactly like it does on any other platform, if not better. The only thing lacking right now is Tasks.
Jimbonics,
I could kiss you. My wife wouldn't like it (and neither would you most likely, I'm stubbly)
I've been reading phone forums, reviews and specs for what seems like months trying to choose the right phone (offline voice command via bluetooth is essential for me but Android doesn't do it and other devices have flaky support) so I skim read this thread: my bad.
Thanks for making my day.
