Sky remote record by mobile - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Anyone got this working on the Diamond. Working fine on my old SE W850 - dont know where to start with the Diamond

I'd like this too.
Can only think about doing it via web browser

I use the k800 version and remaP my left and right hardkeys to act as softkeys but the text is tiny!

How do you download the K800 version of Sky Remote?
Sky doesn't let you chose a particular phone during online setup.

Sky By Mobile Java App
Here's the Java app download.
http://mobile.sky.com/SBM/SonyE_novid/SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar
All I got to do now is try to remap hardkeys!
Got AE Button Plus, but a bit scared of all it can do.
Can Ericsson68 tell us how he remapped hard keys?
Is running TF3D, cos that seems to overwrite hard key functions when run?

Just got round to trying this.
How do i run the file as .jar files are not assosiated with any apprication?

Put .jar file on Diamond first using activesync.
Then run Jblend first and install and run java apps or .jar files from there.
I still can't get it to logon yet.

Have you looked at
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=35
I know that people have had problems. You might find the answer there.

Hi
I used AE button and then remapped the left and right ring keys to long presses = left and right soft keys. I never do long presses on the left and right ring keys so this made sense to me.
Prepare to need a magnifying glass when you do get logged in though. And from experience put your password in before the user name. For some reason doing it the other way around often crashes it.

Ok! Got application working - am able to enter password and user name.
Have tried remaping keys, but dont understand how or why. Could you go through it step by step.
Have a copy of AE Button Plus installed.
Thanks

Another jar file
This one allows the soft keys to work but doesn't actually manage to login for me.
I attach the file for you to try.

Solution!
trice1921 and colthekid worked this solution out at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=507152 for the Touch HD / Blackstone. It works for the Diamond as well. I'll copy the solution here and hope the mods don't mind.
The java file is here http://mobile.sky.com/SBM/SonyE_novid/SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar
The HasKeyboard reg key is important and you will need to disable the volume control in S2U2 if you use it. Enjoy!
Firstly, follow the instructions in the original article posted by gears ie. register on the web for sky mobile and download and install the java software and SkyMobile_SonyWithoutTv.jar file.
Also register for "Remote Record" via your Sky+ box (instructions on the Sky.com website)
Next, as the HD does not have a hardware keyboard, we need to "spoof" the OS into thinking the HD does have one. This is done in one key in the
registry (which I found completely by accident while looking for a different one!).
Goto... "HKCU/Software/Microsoft/Shell" and change the value of "HasKeyboard" to 1
Soft Reset the phone.
We will then need to map some of the buttons to give us up/down/left/right, Enter and Left/Right Soft keys. As NickMilner suggests above, i use "AE Button Plus" and my mapping instructions assume that's what you will use. (the program does cost but i don't know of any other one that provides double, triple and long press options for each key and appears to work well enough in free/trial mode anyway!)
Map the following in AE Button Plus
Volume Up button: Single press - Volume Up
Double press - Press Up Arrow
Triple press - Press Left Arrow
Long press - Press Left Soft Key
Volume Down Button: Single press - Volume Down
Double press - Press Down Arrow
Triple press - Press Right Arrow
Long press - Press Right Soft Key
Green Phone Button: Single Press - Press Green Button
Double Press - Press Enter
I would have liked to use the Red Phone button, but whatever selection i made, the red button always acted as an "Exit" button in the java app, so I went with the above. It's a bit complicated I know with all those double and triple presses, but IT WORKS and i've soon got used to it. I'm sure you could chose your own combination of presses, but the above ones work.
Well, there you go, see if it works for you (I Bl**dy hope so...this has taken me ages to write!!)

Changing Inbox<->Sent<->Del.Items w/o stylus

I am looking for a solution to change between Inbox/Sent/Deleted/Outbox/Drafts in messaging accounts (SMS, POP3,MMS) without using a sytlus.
Changing accounts is OK! with messaging button ot Dpad buttons and I can easily close with smartskey or just by pressing red button but I couldn't find a way to change folders in accounts by using buttons.
Especially when I am driving so hard to tap with my finger because the account comes up where you left it (it's normal but still if you can't use stylus it's a headache).
This is not exactly a short cut but it works for me
In the mail/SMS/mms etc Account
Press the Right Softkey
Press Dpad Up twice
Press Dpad Right
Press Dpad Center
I remember it as: Menu Up Up Right Enter
Then you can move around your folders
Once you get used to the key combo its quite quick to do
Hope this helps
Jules
Yes of course it's
Menu\Go To\Folders
I looked for an one time pres thing. Thanx anyway. Maybe if it's possible to make that function map to a button it'll be solved
you can map it to a key using vito button mapper since they got macro. but i stopped using vito ever since aebutton plus came out. however that shortcut key menu up up right center is quite useful. easy to remember. actually its menu up up center center would work too. easier to remember it as MUUCC. hahaha.
thnx
will try

Remapping the two small keyboard buttons

There are two small buttons (each marked with a small horizontal line) on the keyboard. The left is over the letters R and T. It is assigned to the "Send" button for email. The trouble is that it is very easy to hit by accident when typing R or T, and then the email flies off prematurely! The right one is assigned to the Menu and if you hit it by accident, it is easy to correct (just hit the OK button). Is there a way of remapping these two buttons? Except for this issue, the email with Kaiser is perfect. Does the AT&T Tilt have the same problem?
See my thread here. Those are the same as the softkeys on the font keypad (so remapping one remaps the other). I ended up using AE Button Plus to remap those (and other keys) to other functions, which I like because of the additional functionality that can be assigned to double clicks, triple clicks, etc. But if you just want to remap it to something else, check that thread for some alternatives.

Err... I don't think this addresses the problem the OP has. I too suffer from this problem (must be big fingers!).
When using Outlook the soft keys change function so remapping the Today Calendar softkey, for example, doesn't help.
Anyone else got a solution to this problem, I'm fed up with sending half-finished e-mails!
I haven't played with AE Button Plus, but if you can assign "No Action" to a button (which some of the add-ons let you do) and do that for the messaging app specifically, then that would be a solution to the problem of large fingers/thumbs. The you could remap one of the FN keys you never use to the context menu or send...

As PerfAlbion pointed out, you can just remap them to nothing. I remapped these keys, not because of the problem with the keyboard, but simply because I never used them since it's just as easy to use the touch screen. But if you want to maintain the softkey functionality on those buttons, use AE button to map a single press to nothing, and a double-click (or even a click-hold) to the softkey function. You would then still be able to use them for their original purpose, but they wouldn't be as easy to accidentally activate.

I'm sorry, I must be missing something obvious here.
Any of the soft button remappers will NOT work on application-specific softkeys - AE ButtonPlus specifically says this in it's FAQ. Remapping the "send" key is application-specific - it only becomes the Send key when you launch Outlook. So how did you manage to re-map this key?

The distinction is between remapping the softkey, or remapping the hardkey that correlates to the softkey. What the remappers can't do is change the function of the softkey... if, for example, Outlook is coded to make the left softkey the send key, you can't change that. That's programmed in to Outlook. But what you CAN change is whether or not the hard button that corresponds to the left softkey is recognized as the left softkey. For example, I've remapped the single press of the hard keys that correspond to the L & R softkeys to copy and paste, respectively. If I open Outlook, the soft softkey (the button on the touchscreen) is still going to be send. But my hard button is no longer mapped to be a softkey, it's mapped to be copy.
I used all the programs from the thread that you pointed out, including the cab file that was mentioned. This allowed me to change the left front soft key but does not affect the assignment of the left keyboard soft key as "Reply" when in email mode and with the keyboard slided out. Is there a way to change the left soft key assignment only for the email (eliminate the reply option) or just inactivate the left soft key altogether? I have installed the SoftKey applet form your thread in my Settings.
I sent my reply to one of the earlier messages wihout having read all the answers that came after it....I was out of the office for a couple of hours..my apologies. I will find the AE button plus and give it a try, but is there any registry solution? they usually work the best.
I downloaded and used the AE Button Plus, and it worked! I set it to double press and that did the trick. The program is very good by the way, the only one that allows multiple pressing options, etc. Many thanks!
I have benefited from this thread!
Thanks everybody.
Adequate description on the issue provided, and adequate solutions and then a follow up post.
A really appealing solution would be to isolate the keyboard softkeys from the front ones. I tried the double press method but it turned out to be incredibly annoying and I'm not sure that constant annoyance is outweighed by an accidental softkey hit on the keyboard. What I'd like to do is disable the keyboard softkeys while leaving the front ones completely intact on a single press.
I find it surprising that you even need to use the softkeys, period. I came to the Kaiser from a Smartphone edition phone (no touchscreen), which I had for for over two years. So I was completely accustomed to using the smartkeys. Yet, surprisingly, once I got the Kaiser, I found myself immediately and instinctually accessing their functionality from the touchscreen rather than the hard buttons. Perhaps because the hard buttons aren't directly under the screen like they were on my smartphone, so the tie betwee the label and the button wasn't as obvious as it was on the smartphone.

Thank you, AE Button Plus worked great. I just deactivated the "Left Softkey" and now I don't have to take care of that damned button anymore.

I've been using touchscreen pocket pc's for a while and no such instinct has kicked in.
so no one has an answer besides installing that AE button plus prog on the phone?
try removing the actual key. i wouldn't try it but it may work.
I'm really glad I found this thread, I keep sending half written and blank sms messages because of the left soft and keep doing weird things because of the right one. It's gonna cost me a fortune in text messages so I'm gonna go try that prog mentioned.
It would be better for a solution more specific to the application but this is certainly better than nothing!
the best solution I can think of is:
- remove the sender name whilst creating email.
if you accidently hit send it will prompt for sender info. when you are ready to send, simply insert the contact details in and all is well.
hope this helps some of you

I think we have a WINNER SOLUTION

Where can I get a cab for the "end key long press" program?

I have searched the forums long and wide for it and I cannot find it. Is it simly cooked into roms as an oem package or is there an actual cab we can install for those that are using prebuilt roms?
look here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356192
read the first post. I think you will have to create the Long_End.lnk and assigned it to EndKey.exe
this may also be of interest

i'm pretty sure you didn't try the advanced google search. Please use that next time. Searching endkey cab on there gave me a bunch of searches on this thread.

Here you go...
long press delay
is there a way to change the durations of long press?
I think it takes too long for along press end key and long press power keys to work.
I can't seem to find the registry entry where to change.
Any help is appreciated.
thanks

I actually think he wants "long press power key". That is the one that is cooked into numerous roms. If you search for long press end key, or HTC end key, you will find plenty of threads. Long press power key is a different story.
Edit: Ok I think I was wrong. Long press power key is by Schaps. He wants the long press end key mapped to the red end call button. If you install it normally, which is what you get 10000 threads on if you search, it installs it to the right soft key.

All you have to do for any of the long or short keys is change the .lnk shorcut name to Long_Power.lnk or Short_Power.lnk or Long_Send.lnk or Short_Send.lnk or Long_End.lnk or Short_End.lnk, etc. etc. etc.
If you rename or create a shortcut name as above & point it to the program you want to run & then place it in the \Windows directory it will work.
You don't need a cab, or any configuration tool.
I know something much better:
AE Button Plus http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php, you can give any button a long press function of even a double/triple click function.
You can use it for free.
I use the Internet buttons double click for toggling bluetooth, the Email buttons double click for toggling WiFi, the left softkeys press+hold for devicelock and the enter keys press+hold for AltTab.
You know you can do all of that without adding a few more mb's to your system & another startup app. AE Button works don't get me wrong, but it's not for me since I can accomplish everything it does already from the registry. (The keyboard driver contains all kinds of neat shortcuts you can use, you only have to disassemble it to see). It's great for a novice though.
There is another easy way to configure this. (No need to install HTC End Key)
Install Schaps Advanced Config.
Then go to Menu, Key Mapping and choose what you want for Long Press Send Key, End Key and Power Key.

Wow - I've been using Advanced Config for ages (consider it essential) but had no idea it handled key mapping. Good to know.
I just tried it on my problem though and it's a no-go. My problem is that HTC End Key is cooked into the ROM I'm using and neither remapping through Advanced Config nor manually adding a shortcut (in this case ArkSwitch.lnk renamed as Long_End.lnk) works - the stupid HTC End Key programme just pops its ugly head up instead offering me a handful of useless options I can't change.
Any ideas? I'm using a 6.5.x ROM so HTC Task Manager doesn't work and ArkSwitch doesn't always open when clicking the title bar, due to the notification drop down, and I need quick access to a task manager.
Btw I use my phone's GPS for work a lot (in landscape mode) so Long_Send is already mapped to Rotate Screen.
Can anybody help?

Help: Want to remap hard button

Hi all,
Anyone can help to remap the hard button??
I want to change the Home key to Alt-tab, and the Back key change to OK/Close (1 press for ok and long press for real close the application). I have tried AE button plus, but not function very well.
Attached is the Alt-tab s/w i have used.
Don't know why HTC put a Home and Back key in WM pro device
Thank you very much,
did you reset the device after you changed the settings?
yes, but still doesn't work
There's a software called Hbutton. You might wanna try it.
Just tried Hbutton, but it doesn't work on diamond.........
Awww.. now how am I gonna survive on the diamond without Hbutton?!
There's another software called SmartSkeys (or something oike that) Not sure of it'll work.
Anyone got any suggestions on which software to use to map diamond buttons to many functionalities?
This one works on Diamond: AE Button Plus.
To my understanding from testing AEButton on the Diamond, I have realized that:
The HOME key cannot be remapped.
The Back key is essentially a "WIN" key. You can create a new button and remap the Back key. HOWEVER, the shortcuts DOES NOT WORK when you are at today screen. So here is what I do, I remapped the Back key single click to "Escape". double click to close program, long click to close all programs.
Thats the only logical thing i can think about using the back button due to the limitations.
Any ideas?
Escape = ok/close ?
With AEB Plus I managed to map "action long" to "task manager", but the setting doesn't seem to survive a soft reset.
Problem with TouchFLO 3D.
Disable TouchFLO 3D, you might map home/ok button by mappingware.
Setting -> Personal -> Today -> Items
Use SortInchKey, if you enable TouchFLO, you might map VolUp/VolDown/Ok(exclude Today screen) buttons.
Tried AE Button Plus 2.6.3, the "ok" button in AE Button Plus list can refer to back key, my setting is press 1 to minimize, long press to close current application. However, AE Button Plus can't handle the Home button. I already sent a request to them, hope their next version can sort it out.
I'm posting here to find this later. I use AEB on all my devices and want a Diamond. Hopefully it gets "worked out".

Yes, the mappings worked when TouchFLO was disabled. But when TouchFLO was enabled again, the mappings then didn't work.
Can someone please help me?
I use a golf GPS/Scoring program on my diamond (mobile golf scorer) and on it there is an option to use hardware button to turn display on/off, this keeps the gps active permantly. Its mapped in the program as 'button c' which from what i can tell should be the 'right hardware button' on a usual ppc.
I'm trying to map it as 'back button' using AEBPlus but it will only work on the main diamond screen or 'today' screen. I've tried mapping it to various buttons on the diamond but When i start the golf program it does not work.
Has anyone any ideas? I need to remap a button that will turn the display off no matter what i'm running.
Thanks again
I'd love to change the function of the "Back Button" aswell,
it has been annoying me since the first day I got it.
HButton seemed very promising, but sadly, it doesn't work.
Do hardware keys also have a registry number like the softkeys?
Like 112/113 for the softkeys?
Wondering anyone will use "Home" and "Back" button regularly....Maybe u guys can share your experience on how to smartly use this 2 buttons as I don't have any idea.........
Hello everyone!
This topic is very actual especially on all russian forums (hpc.ru 4pda.ru 4pda.info). Did anyone overcomed this difficulty with remapping hardware buttons? I tryed AEButton Plus but I was unsuccessfull in remapping the dimaond's "back" button - is there any one who did it? Please share the experience - it would be very very usefull to remap this button and to bind it to launching Dynamo3 task manager.
Thanks in advance.
ILya.
None of the programs named here work correctly on the Diamond, including AE Buttons Plus.
However, these buttons CAN be mapped. I know that because the capacitive buttons tester program can detect and show that you pressed these buttons. While this program is active, if you press the home key, it shows that you pressed the home key, but you don't go to the home screen. So it's possible, but only HTC knows how. We need their API's.

the silly part on the htc side is to have 3 of 4 hw buttons do almost the same - if you are in an application, pressing home, back or hang-up button will act as "escape". am i wrong?
for one thing, it would be at least useful to have an "ok" button.
the ideal setup for me would be to use the "go to the tf3d home tab" function of the home key by pressing the "hang-up" button and use the home key as "ok"...

looking for a simple button reconfigurator

Hello,
i'm looking for a replacement for AEBplus
I only need a few simple things:
left and right button - should rotate my screen, like it does when i open the keypad
ok button - task manager (or today screen from where i could start the taskmanager)
ok button (long press) - start an application
end call (long press) - lock the device (the you need to enter your password kind of lock)
What program other that AEB can do that and wont use as much CPU resources as AEB does?
you can just go to settings>buttons and assign either keft or right soft key to screen rotate, easiest way IMO
No i cant..there is only the left and right softkey button. Nothing else..and i could not setup a long press this way.

x1ButtonMapper, already tried that?
cheers
I use AEButon Plus on my X1a and I am thrilled with it. It doesn't have much (if any) negative effect on performance on mine.
Have you tried it on the X1?
Also for End Key there is a program called "Long Press End Key" I think. It is nice, and cooked into a lot of ROMs.

I guess i could use mortscript for rotation, long press is obviously possible.
But what do i use as fast taskmanager? Can i start the built in taskmanager as application? And what can i use to password lock my device?
Edit: seems i loose the TAB key with X1ButtonMapper and the EndCall button isnt inclueded...thats bad
Is there a way to change some of the keys directly in the registry?

advanced config - menu (button) - more settings - key mappings
Mobile Magic doenst support the buttons i need. No longpress for End and no support for the OK button at all..that was the first program i tried.
To bad the options for the End key are grey in Advanced Conifg.
X1BC should allow for a lot more options than mx X1ButtonMapper. I think there is also a second application from the same author called X1BH or something. Check that out.
X1ButtonMapper is pretty lightweight actually. The most overhead involved will be by calling the script functionality but that is done asynchronous, meaning that X1ButtonMapper doesn't wait for the called application or script to finish - it just launches it.
I didn't remap the red and green phone buttons because they can't be easily remapped and I think they are central buttons which should keep their original functionality. I think remapping them will cause more bugs than you will gain functionality. With X1ButtonMapper you already gain enough options for the remaining keys (each with short and long press) which should be enough for most applications. You can also reassign the missing FN+key combos on the keyboard.
I did use the Tab key as Ctrl substitude because I think Tab is not important for Windows Mobile. It is substituted in most dialogs with the right/left keys so use these. You can get the original Tab function when pressing FN+Tab for the few situations where you really need it.
I am using X1ButtonMapper for a long time now and havn't had any stability issues - maybe that's the trade off for having less features.
X1Button manager somehow didnt react to my OK key. I allready have a standalone taskmanager mortscript could run but Ok didnt do anythink. Longpress of the softkeys to rotate the screen worked nicely though.
Longpress delay is a little longer than im used to but that not a big problem.
The longpress of the End key has allready a keylock function as standard setting (wich i find totally stupid because i turn the device of with the switch on top). There must be a registry setting that i could alter so it would run the password lock instead.
I will check into X1BC...
X1BC works thank you...and i like it much more than X1BM because i can setup everything to my likings, longpress timing, vibration on/off and wether i want a Control key replacement.
I could even use the panel key to lock my device if reprogramming of the end key button is not possible.
Does anyone know wich program i have to run to password lock my device? Maybe its possbile with mortscript..i should check that...
