Remote Shutdown PC - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hi, I have tried searching, but cant think of any other terms to include to find what i want.
Is there a way of installing something (preferably small) on my pc, aswell as my phone, and be able to remote shutdown my pc wherever i am, through my data connection if possible ?
Realised it would be handy, as I just finished a 10 hour shift, and forgot i had left my pc on for no reason. The only way i knew was when i signed into msn on my phone and saw my pc's msn account was online.

I use the website logmein.com
It's really easy and you can access your PC from your PDA. You can run programs on your PC, although it won't display that well (if at all) on your phone. And you can easily shutdown your PC from wherever you are.
It installs a program on your PC and then you just have to go to logmein.com on your phone. I'm not sure exactly what it installs on your phone but from my knowledge it's small.
Hope this answers your question.

enable telnet on your computer and telnet to it then shutdown -s

You can use remote desktop from your phone when setup.

What is so special about the video, can you post the link? If your on your home network on wifi you can remote to your pc or connect thru the data connection if you have a public box.
-McMex
See this link for how to enable remote desktop on your PC, how to setup your router/firewall to allow it to connect to the outside world and DDNS services for name resolution. I've briefly read through it and have confirmed it provides all that you'd need to set up Windows XP to allow remote desktop connectivity from any device (RDP capable phone, Linux, PC, Mac, etc.)
If you need specific help for Vista, I'm sure Google will give you what you need, if you change my search parameters "remote desktop firewall" to include 'Vista'. I still think the link given above will still be of use, Vista or not...
Hope this helps!
there a reason you dont want to use the free edition of logmein.com ?
Im d/l'ing log me in right now. Thanks man appreciate it
can you tell me what setting you have on your tilt. So i can use the screen space on my phone to the max without making it look weird.

Does such a program exist?

I have serched high and low. I was wondering if there was anyway to get Microsoft Access onto my Fuze. I have a biz that runs on Access, it would be helpful if i could have it with me at all times instead of having to carry a laptop everywhere i go.
I don't think such a program exists. I'm assuming that your Access stuff is a full application with forms, etc? You can probably use something like this --> http://www.handster.com/programs.php?id=2906&for=Pocket PC mdb to update the tables, but I can't see it running reports, etc.
If you have a decent data plan, then one option is to run Remote Desktop to a PC back at base running the Access Application. I've got a Virtual Machine on my server which I can access from my Touch Pro. I can run any app I want on there, and as long as I don't try to do anything stupid (like play a video), then it works fine. This is the only way I could see your Access application working on your TP.
Cheers,
Steve.

I believe the client is built into the Fuze. If you have a custom ROM, just do a search. Several threads have the cab to install it on the Fuze. It has also been built into Windows since at least XP. You have to be a local admin or in the remote users group to Remote Desktop or RDP to your desktop.

help installing Remote Desktop Manager (RDM)

ok i didnt seach threads extensively but i figured this was an easy question to answer.
i downloaded RDM and installed the cab onto my phone. on the program i have the options for:computer, user, password, and domain. Is there a part two of the app to run on my computer?
im trying to connect to a computer running windows 2000.
You will need do enable Remote Desktop on your PC. Here is a link how to do it:

Is your computer running Windows 2000 Professional or Server?
Professional does not support remote desktop/terminal services connections.
Server needs to be enabled in Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components. It will be called Terminal Services and somewhere along the way you will be asked what mode to install it in. Be sure to choose remote administration mode, not application mode.
ok the link you gave was for windows xp? does that make a difference?
i think i have windows 2000 pro. its deff not a server. i managed to get
a program called remote desktop 2.0 to access my computer by opening ports, however this program views the desktop in full color and is very laggy and slugish.
RDM aside is there any really good remote desktop program to use? i if you could help me set it up i would really appreciate it.
ive used logmein in the past, however this is like a six step process and i would prefer something simpler like a program.

HTC Network Plugin

Plz i really need help with this
For Some reason i cant get the files to show up when i browser it
It detects my computer but when i try to expand it nothing?
Any help
What exactly are you trying to do. It is not very clear.
Im just trying to get The network plugin to work
Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
1) You need to have the phone connected somehow to your Local Network/Router (i.e. wifi).
2) Make sure you have file and printer sharing enabled on the desktop computer you are trying to connect to. I assume you are using Windows and NOT a Linux Operating System with Samba.
3) Make sure you are sharing at least 1 folder on your desktop computer.
4) Make sure the firewall on your Windows computer is configured properly to allow file sharing.

[Q] Broken display (touch sensitive sensors), Any way to get back my data from phone?

I have an HTC touch diamond, and my display is broken (phone is working, and screen also, but it cant sense/ "read" any touch). So i cant calibrate the screen, and because of that i cant do anything, but i really like to get my personal data (contacts, etc. ) from my phone. Are there any solutions to this problem? any software or some way to get back my data via pc?
Problem solved
I finally manage to solve the problem.
In case if somone else face the same situation i make a lil summary of what i did.
I always used a PIMbackup to backup my personal data (contacts, messages), but i use the binary backup, what is set by default and that's why i just cant extract the pib file from my phone (because in binary mode there are just a lot of NUL and other crap when u extract it- it makes a pbc file, and when u open it with notepad++/excel u cant get anything what makes sense)
So..
I connected my phone with a pc via activesync, and copied the last backup (.pib) file to my pc. <
then downloaded and installed Microsoft Device Emulator 3 from -download.microsoft.com/download/8/7/c/87c1f761-6deb-4cf4-90e5-65363f7bb7da/vs_emulator.exe
And then downloaded and installed windows mobile 6 professional images from- download.microsoft.com/download/0/1/2/012bfbba-9fe5-4e68-86c9-d434446d97dd/0409/Windows%20Mobile%206%20Professional%20Images%20(USA).msi[/url]
I dont know why, but u have to re-run Windows Mobile 6 Professional Images (USA).msi again and click repair. (at first time when u install it, it somehow skip some files or smth). And u may also get some visual studio error, but click ok.
Next, click Start -> Programs -> Windows Mobile 6 SDK -> Stand Alone Emulator Images -> USB English -> Professional
Then u can use wm in ur pc like a virtual machine. Then i just set the storage card location in phone to my pc-s Desktop. Downloaded PIM backup to my pc and open it with emulator , then select my pib file and restore it to my virtual windows mobile device. And then i was managed to view my contacs, but i make a new backup with emulator, but at this time i un-checked the binary backup box and set the backuplocation to storage card (what was my pc-s desktop).
Now when i have a new .pib file in my deskopt (without binary mode) i extract it with rar and get a .csc file, what u can open with notepad or excel, i profer notpad and check a word wrap. It's still a lot of crap, but u can find ur contacts and numbers.
And if u know some c/c++ u can make some lil program to get rid of that other crap u dont want in that file.
Maybe it's not the best and the easiest way to get back ur contacts, but thats the only way i was able to do that.
Another solution
10n days ago I've had problems with my phone so I detached the display to understand if the problem is in it. Well it wasn't but I had to work with the phone with no display.
Another solution
10n days ago I've had problems with my phone so I detached the display to understand if the problem is in it. Well it wasn't but I had to work with the phone with no display.
And here is how I did it.
1. Find with Google and install "MotionApps mDesktop" on your PC.
2. Connect your phone to the PC with ActiveSync.
2.1 When it ask how to connect your phone with ActiveSync, USB disk if you don't do anything your phone automatically connects with ActiveSync.
3. Start mDesktop and click connect in the upper right corner if it doesn't connect automatically.
4. Once connected on left side there are tabs- SMS,Contacts,Screen and others-whatever you want to see.
5. Click on the "Screen" tab and you will see your phone screen.
6. Click on that screen with your mouse to do what ever you want to do - you have complete control over your phone.
That's it.
I hope this info is useful.
actually i'm not so sure does it work what u said, bcuz i used MyMobiler with what i should also controll my device screen via pc, but it doesn't work.
I think that maybe it works if phone is fully set up, i mean that my screen isn't calibrated. Maybe that was the problem why i cant use remote desktop, maybe not. Dunno..
Just to be sure I just tried it- you have to be able to calibrate your phone from your phone. I guess that it will be no problem if the touch screen is ok even if the lcd is not.
Can you help me pls. So my screen in broken, both touck and lcd so i can't do the alignment. I have win7 on my pc so i've tried both ways but none of them it's working.
