Free C.I.D. unlocking........ - MDA Compact II Software Upgrading

Fisrt things first, all creidts goes to the makers of the software/roms i used for this.
Ok now the fun part, bit's needed
1. sd card (i used a 256)
2. 3 volt power supply
3. A charmer unit
4. Usb cable
5. Button's wizard rom
(link http://rapidshare.com/files/136347847/Wizard_Button_Rom.exe.html )
6. Old T-mobile rom
(link http://rapidshare.com/files/136343979/t-mobile_1.12.rar.html )
7. Wizard Service tool
Here we go then, download the button rom and install (make sure you have the sd card in),now after the install the PHONE WILL NOT BOOT OR START, don't worry this is where you need the 3 volt power supply, take the battey out of the phone, look at the battey pin's from top to bottom you have 6 pin's,this is how to get the phone to bootloader.
PINS
1 nothing
2 + 3V
3 + 3V
4 -
5 -
6 nothing
Put the wires on the right pins but DO NOT power phone up yet, plug the usb cable in,hold the camera button in and now power up the phone via the mains 3 volt power supply, give it a second or 2 and you should be in bootloader mood.
Still with me here people?
Now install the T-mobile rom 1.12, after that has install and phone has rebooted remove the wires from the pins and put the battery in,start up phone (notice the screen is in landcape),let it do all the setting up and reboot, once's it's restarted, open wizard service tools, run the Enab RAPI+Unsigned Apps then run the CID action button, choose the unlock CID option, let it do it's thing and unlock the C.I.D.
Restart the phone and check that the phone is C.I.D. unlocked (it will be but just in case).
Put the phone in bootloader mood again and update to the latest T-mobile rom (can't find the link for that at the mo) and there you go,phone updated to the latest rom and C.I.D. unlocked.
All of this is done at your own risk, so don't blame me if you brick your phone or smash it to bits,I have tested this on 2 Charmer units both were on IPL/SPL 3.08 when i stated.
Best of luck people, any problems feel free to post here.

I'm really amazed someone actually felt the need to do this. Nice. Kudos to whoever came up with this.

All started when i brought a dead unit, got it going via the pin's,loaded the old t-mobile rom (should have unlocked it then)but then upgraded to the latest rom, after doing some reading and a weeks worth of rom testing i got it work, saved me £20 and can write roms when every i want now, also found a few more thing out but thats for another time.

new update won't allow active sync -can't update rom

MDA has a charge sign at the bottom but its not even plugged in at the USB, the charge is also "unknown." When I updated the rom it didn't include the GSM ROM...
Now it won't recognize with active sync on the computer, so I can't just change the rom. any other way to get to USB MODE or use a SD card to update the T Mobile ROM. The CID is Unlocked for upgrades maybe there will be hope...
oh no... what can I do?

Need some help
Same happened to me. To fix it:
.- If battery is drained, organize first a battery that has at least 50% power left. Best is fully-charged battery.
.- Switch your phone into so-called bootloader mode (press and hold "Camera" button while powering your phone or reseting it with stylus).
.- In bootloader mode phone can establish a connection with PC via USB. Re-flash then with a ROM image. I suggest to use CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE if possible
I suspect that the described problem might be caused by not successfully finalized CID unlock before flashing. Hope that above guidelines are helpful.

The above procedure works perfectly.. I had the same issue, in my case sometimes the phone doesn't power on, or even charge!!. The case is simple. Mostly just CID unlocking the phone isn't all. The IPL/SPL figures remain at 1.xx which is not compatible with the 2.26 upgrades currently available. Basically it is always better to upgrade the rom using a provider upgrade, which would upgrade all i.e. both IPL/SPL and OS. in my case starting up was an issue so i go straight into bootloader mode by holding down the camera button whilst switching the device on. Connect the device to the computer. and flash as normal.

Please help, my Cingular 8125 does not power up

Urgent helps needed!
So i bricked my Cingular 8125!
I just wanted to upgrade my ROM to the newest AKU 3.2 from Faria.
I did ungrade and errors arised as i described above.
I was told that the fone hadn't been CID unlocked.
I did as what described in lowikiz
-downgrade the rom,
-run enablerapi.cab on my device
-run lowikiz 0.2b
-choose CID unlock
Restarted the fone, what i saw was:
IPL 1.01
SPL 2.25
GSM 2.47.11
OS 3.0.0
There're only two things fulfill me,that's GSM and the OS.I wanted the
IPL and SPL should be 2.26 or later version.
What i did then :
-Downgrade again (hoping that i forgot to SIM unlock)
-run enablerapi on my device
-run lowikiz 0.2b
-choose unlock
And when the fone restart.
What i saw was:
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
GSM 1.x.x
OS 1.05.x
when the installation completed, i upgraded the ROM again to AKU3.2
everything went smoothly until it finished. The fone restarted and what i saw was:
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
<blank, no GSM version, couldnt believe that>
OS 3.0.0.0
the device kept running until the installation completed.
It restarted again and stopped running. What i can see now is just
nice background and blinking (waited for nearly 15 mins but no futher responses)
IPL 1.01
SPL 1.01
OS 3.0.0.0
It couldn't get further.
I think i bricked my Cingular 8125.
So could you helpers, experienced users help me with that?
Can i fix it?Or can HTC fix it?
Thank you very much!
mod edit;
the title has been changed as you did not have a bricked phone...if you ever brick you phone belive me,,,u cant restore it at home.
regards
faria
It's not bricked. As long as you can go into bootloader mode, and flash it with Cingular clean ROM you should be fine..
Have you ever read the note from faria? He said NOT to upgrade to AKU 3.2 without IPL/SPL version 2.xx.
You can try to take out you're SIM card, go to the boot screen by pushing the cam button and the on button and flash it again with te original ROM.
Good luck
Sorry for my bad English
or you can try it this way: link
just go into bootloader (camera button + soft reset) and flash that 1.5 ROM, which is able to downgrade.
and then
!Do !NOT! install any 2.x ROM (like farias ) for the 1.x bootloader (ipl/spl)!
before it you could flash any official 2.x ROM ;-)

Thanks
Thank you friends for all those things.
Things seem to get worse, I couldn't even turn the fone on.I had full charge of batt. before upgrading .After that "accident", i left the fone alone for one night, when i woke up in the morning, tried to turn on the fone but i failed.Tried to enter bootloader mode but failed. The fone now becomes a brick.
-Do you friends know how to revive my fone?
-Do you know where can i have it revived?
Thanks for all!
Leave the battery out for few days, then try again after full charge in BL mode.
TIA

------------------Thank you very much almozaffar and friends! But how can i full charge the batt. in BL mode?I just have the wall charger as included in the box, a USB cable. What i need in BL mode?
I find no red LED(indicating that the fone's being charge)when i connect the fone with my wall charger as well as with the USB cable.I realise that the batt. gets hot but i'm not sure if it's charged.
Best regards
Someone just told me to remove the batt. for about 2,3 days then recharge, i'm not sure if that works but i'll try.Thank you!
Same problem here!
I have a Cingular 8125, I tried to update it to MDA with IPL/SPL 2.26. I was successfully flashed it. After it turn on, everything work fine, so I turned it off, so that I can inside my sim card. After I inside my simcard, my phone is now can never turn on again. I tried and tried again, there was no used. I plug in the power to the phone, there is no power. When I unplug the power, I see a flash from the screen, or after I remove the battery I see a flash from the screen. I have no idea what it is doing, but i can't turn the power back on. Can some please please help me!
Thanks,
Bricked fone huh? No way!!!
After researching the Wizard, i know how to revive it and do not have to spend a cent!Anyone interested? Please PM me!I'll post later when i have time the whole procedure.
@unknown84: I send u file on how to revive your fone.
How to revive your 8125.
Friends,
First remove your main battery, then plug and unplug the wall charger connecting to your fone, if the RED LED and your Fone screen flash then you can revive your fone(at least it works with my fone, wish you good luck!)
Read these lines carefully before you proceed to the procudure. That really works with my phone(i'm not sure if it works with your fone but i wish you good luck)
*Preparation:
1.Charge the main batt. for 2 hours long.
2.Remove your main batt., charge without the main batt. for 1 minute.
3.Plug and unplug the wall charger for at least 3 times ( main batt. removed) (you'll find that your fone keep flashing, both LED and your Fone screen, by doing this i hope it'll help with waking up the backup batt.)
4.Download the official Cingular 8125 ROM version 2.25(you can find it everywhere)
-Three ways to enter bootloader mode:
a.Hold firmly CAM + Power until Bootloader Mode appears
b.Hold firmly Voice Dial,Rec Button + Power until Bootloader Mode appears
c.Hold firmly CAM + Voice Rec + Power ........
*Procedures to followremember to remove your main batt. before doing hereafter)
1. Hold simultaneously 3 buttons : the CAMERA button, The Voice Recording Button, and the Power button.(or follow one of three ways to enter bootloader mode listed above)
If this doesnt work, do that again by holding those buttons, plug and unplug the wall charger and still keep holding those buttons
(as PLUG and UNPLUG the wall charger, you'll see the Red LED and the screen FLASH, i guess it's the way to WAKE our backup batt UP)
2. Hold those buttons will start the bootloader mode.
3.When your fone's already in the bootloader mode, put the main batt. in
(I'm sure u know what u'll do next if u can start the bootloader mode!!)
4.Unplug your wall charger
5.Plug in the USB cabble connecting to your PC.
6. Start flashing with your 2.25 ROM.
Note: When your fone's in its bootloader mode you can find out if u have a G3 or G4 chipset easily by
looking up at its IPL and SPL. G3 comes with x.xx( ex: 2.25)in both IPL and SPL.G4 comes with x.xx.001 in both IPL and SPL.
If u have a G3 chipset, do as i told u above. If u have a G4 chipset, just download the official ROM for your G4.
Good luck and don't flash again without reading carefully!

Thank you too :-D
I have brick
Could you please write for how long did you repeat the steps that you described, before getting BL screen.
THX
Still bricked
It certainly doesn’t work for me. Screen & led flash when taking out usb plug without battery, but that all.
simmilar problem
My HTC Wizard is having simmilar problems but even following these directions, I still cannot revive it.
I know my battery is almost full because when it died it was full. I don't know anyone else with a Wizard so I can't charge it, and this may be where the problem lies: Weather or not the battery is in my phone, whenever I connect wall power, it displays the message "Press send to restore...." and will not charge
When I plug/unplug the wall power with the battery removed, my screen does flash along with the red LED, but only once when I pull the power. Following the directions I have removed the battery and I'm plugging in the wall power jack in an attempt to enter bootloader screen. But just like every time, about three to four seconds after I plug it into the wall, the phone posts the "Press Send to restore factory, blah, blah blah". I don't know if this is part of the problem but it might be.
I've tried almost everything i found on forums, and what I can think of but still to no avail. I can't get my Wizard to enter bootloader mode. I've also tried every method to enter bootloader mode that I could find :/
any suggestions?

After upgrading with superrom 1.1 pda reboots

Heyy,
I just installed the superrom only after reboot the pda is hanging or rebooting continusly.
Have a MDA vario.
Can someone help me how i can set the original back because active sync is not working anymore
Thanks.................
1) Why did you start a new thread?
2) I've posted this 3 times in the last 24 hours in various threads.
Last time:
Get the phone turned off (pulle the battery if you have to). Plug in the USB cable. Now hold the camera button while you turn on the phone and you should get to the "rainbow" screen. At this point you should be able to flash a rom like the T-Mobile 2.26 Ship, or somesuch. Key is, go down to a good base ROM. Then move up to Faria 3.3 or whatever.

Wizard keeps restarting

I hope someone can help here or point me to a post with steps to fix this.
I decided to do a ROM update on 8125 like device (Does not say Cingular or HTC etc. on the cover) But when started said QTek.
I installed the T-Mobile ROM update MDA_software_update_226102_22610105_022511.exe
Now the device starts then shuts down and then strats again then shuts down again. Sometime it makes it all the way to the start menu but most of the time it restarts during booting.
When it does make it to the start menu. The device reboots with in 30 seconds of clicking here and there.
Thanks,
You may be using the update not for your ROM...
Try to hard reset your device by pressing CommManager+VoiceCommand+reset (Release reset while still holding the other two buttons), then press Call button when prompted.
I have tried that many times but no help.
Phone boots
IPL 2.26
SPL 2.26
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2
Windows Mobile
Reboots
Phone seems to me stuck in loop.
If I take out the battery
Give it a little rest.
Then it boots like normal but as soon as you click here and there the phone auto reboots.
Thanks,
I think you better try if the phone still reboot if it is in bootloader mode (Camera + reset). If so, then it is a hardware fault and software repair should not make any change.
If it stays in bootloader mode without reboot, then maybe the updater placed a bad ROM dump in your flash. Visit the unlocking forum, view the unlocking sticky and follow the instruction to use Button's 1.05 ROM to unlock CID, then flash another ROM.
No phone is not in a boot mode.
I did install the boot 1.05
CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe
Then install the
MDA_software_update_226102_22610105_022511.exe
But the phone just keeps rebooting.
Does anyone from where I can download and install the
early release of Cingular 8125.
Thanks,
CUSTOM__RUU_Wizard_1050412_WWE_101_11210_WWE.exe
This ROM is used for CID unlock only, it is NOT a Cingular stock ROM, and you should upgrade to other ROM for day-to-day use because the IPL and SPL is far too old.
Read the how to flash a rom sticky, then read all of the stickies you can find about how to flash a ROM. Read the wiki.
Read, read, read. All of the instructions are available - you just need to take some time and read them.

This may help, the exact same thing happened to me with my touch pro, I thought it was corrupt rom or somthing, however after looking into every aspect of this and trying everything I found the fault. It was my left hand battery pin in the back of the phone, it was bent at a lower angle to its two other friends. I carfully levelled them all out and raised them slightly and the phone was instantly cured. Try it I hope it sorts you out.
I would also suspect a bad battery issue. If you have not recently messed with the pins, I would right off suspect the battery. You must be ultra careful when bending any pins. I would first replace the battery. I had a battery that was up to 100% then dropped right off to 0 as soon as I attempted to make a call. Also it is common for the chargers to go bad. I had a wall charger that actually seemed to drain the battery overnight. I replace it with the battery and problem solved. Try batteries plus it is a chain store and they will have your battery and charger. Good luck. And one last thing try and charge with a wall charger or usb most of the time. It is much better on your battery then a car charger.

I Need help im a noob

hi guys i got a mda vario v t-mobile (htc tp2) dutch version i think because im from the dutch ehhehe. anyways im gettin trouble with install a other rom or updating this version...i know t-mobile rom sucks so i really wanna get this one off because the new roms rule the whole manila thingy clock thingy and stuff.. can anyone help me?
ye i forgot 2 tell that when i try 2 install the flash it gives me a error (260) its saying that i got connection problems but i think that might be wrong because i already tryed it out on a different pc... and i know i have 2 shut down my anti-virus programme
on my htc i get a warning(this package is not intended for your device type!! high chance of bricking!!! exiting now
I'm not sure what you're trying to flash, but check out the sticky threads. If you want a ROM other than that specifically designed for your device, your first step is HardSPL. Check out the sticky HardSPL thread, and if you have problems with it, then post in that thread.
well im trying 2 flash(hard-spl) my device HTC TOUCH PRO2(T-MOBILE VERSION VARIO V) i already downloaded the right rom for my device its the ENERGYROM FOR HTC PRO2. but when im trying 2 flash it with the hard-spl it says a error (260)(this package is not intended for your device type!! high chance of bricking!!! exiting now. and when im trying 2 install the ENERGY ROM for my device it stays on 0% of installing:S
tnx anyways
The fact that the ROM flash is staying at 0% is because you haven't got HardSPL. You need to get HardSPL on first.
I wonder if HardSPL can't handle the MDA Vario V ? What model number does it say it is, if you take out the battery, something like "RHODxxx" where the "xxx" is three digits, near where the serial number is ?
You really should post this in the HardSPL thread though.
ye thats why came with the hard-spl later on and even than it wont install the hard-spl. it says RHOD100
thank you for your support
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Connect USB with the PC (on the back on PC if not laptop)

Erm, that's not going to work if HardSPL is bombing out with a "wrong device" error. But this discussion is going on in the HardSPL thread too.
May be you are not using the correct version of HardSPL? There are the CDMA and GSM versions. You should check which one your phone needs. Hope that helps
ye im using the correct hard-spl from the gsm thread.
ow ye
btw when i bootloader under the RHOD100 is writtin SPL-087.0000 that means theres already hard spl installed?
Please stop posting your questions in two places at once ? The HardSPL thread is the right place for your questions on HardSPL
please post your questions about hardspl in the appropriate thread, thread closed.
