Why are some phones speaker louder than others - Wing, P4350 Herald Upgrading

i have the same wing as my buddy, but his phone speaker when on either playing music or phone call is much more louder, has more bass than mine, is there a reason 4 this? whats the best way to improve speaker phone quality. and secondly which rom so far 4 u provides that in terms of speaker improvement. your input are highly welcome.

For the playing music part, do you guys play the same file? It could be the encoding and decoding process that different files have diffierent output levels. So test again with the same file. For the phone call, make a call (to your voice mail mabe), then turn up the volume while you're on the call. It's weird that this can only access when you're on a call. Hope this help

Have you checked to make sure the volume on the actual media player is turned up? The WMP's volume is usually on like 70% from default or something like that.

I bought my girlfriend a wing and her speaker's sound is a lot better than mine. And I've tried the same exact video and audio files.

increase speaker sound

is it possible to overclock/tune the audio settings and increase the sound that comes out from the speakers???
I hate the tilt speaker, its so quiet that i always miss my calls. Plus my headphones are louder not on my ear than playing music from the speaker.
mehh???
Can't do the phone for you, but get a player with pre-amp capability in the equaliser - like GSPlayer, or TCMP
G.
just tried gsplayer, its not loud either...
is there anyway to make the speaker louder for mp3's??? :/ atleast for the ring tone.
Download your ringtones from your pda to your pc and open them with an audio edit program (like audition or ...). Raise the volume and save it.
Put them on your pda
think you should go to a doctor
i had to decrease the speaker to 50% cause it was much to loud.
there will be no software-way to increase, cause it is limited to avoid hardware-problems with the speaker. try to open your kaiser and do some electonic-work
bye andré
Are you complaining about the ring tone volume? or the music volume?
If so then do the following using your computer:
1. Save the Ring Tones or the Music Files onto your Computer.
2. click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder/
3. On the Sound recorder, click File/Open/ ( open the Ring Tones you saved earlier or the music files)
4. Increase the volume and then save the file. You can re-record the saved file with another 25% volume increase.

Not offense meant, I'm talking from a professional point of view: go to a ENT specialist to check on your hearing capabilities. Especially if you're young, you may have damage from various club visits, etc.
If you're older, you may have had ISSHL without even noticing it.
Seriously: I'm 42 and the HTC TyTN II is VERY loud at the max volume setting(s), so you definetely have to check out your hearing capabilities. Even if you think you hear very well, it is possible that you hear only certain frequencies very well and others not.
Just a friendly advice, you don't have to agree.
the phone has its speaker on the rear side, which is sucks!
but then they couldnt place the speaker grills on the front either for sake of looks
i (and i am sure almost everybody) keep the phone with the lcd facing up so the speaker gets blocked and the sounds are muffled.
my nokia has its speaker on the top (not front) which sounds awesome even when in pant pockets..
seriously i think uk3 is fine..lol..nothing wrong with his ears
Take a look at your sound profile.
I was having the same problem until i checked that and noticed that it defaults at sound 40% ring 40%
knocked it up to 100% and all is well now
the sound for the default ringtone... (Ring Windows Mobile) is VERY loud when volume is at max. BUT the ringtone of the mp3 that i put into the /my documents/my ringtones are very low and unable to hear them when i have the phone in my pocket. I notice about a 50% in volume change.
This goes with the windows media/audio manager. It plays really low. My hearing is fine im only 18 lol

Not sure where or if it even exist on a default settings (i've got the 02 version of the Kaiser i.e the strealth) but i've got SPB phone suite installed so there is a icon on my today screen which I can just tap and set various profiles to ring and notification settings (set to 100% ring and 100% vibrate, 40% ring and vibrate, just vibrate etc.)
But as a test I did a hard reset (backed up everything with sprite backup first) and then played the default ringtone and it was very quiet , restored from my backup which had spb phone suite installed and the volume increased a lot
Hello folks ... actually my problem with Kaiser is different, as my speakers work so fine with both ring tones and music ... but my problem is with the ring back tone (RBT) which is the ringing tone you hear till the other party picks up the call ... I can barely know whether it's dialing or not ... anyone can give me the registry key/value to enhance this.
TIA
HI dude, try the SRS WOW HD app.
It works on my Kaiser
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355496&highlight=srs_wowhd_arm
The volume of the actual mp3 doesnt matter. I rerendered a mp3 to 20db more than it was.. and it still played the same volume on the phone... Is it just that the speaker of the kaiser is crappy?
Can anyone suggest agood custom setting
If u could clcik a Picture captuer & post it
Would help alot

Speaker quality

I received my O2 Ignito (their version of the Diamond) yesterday and am generally impressed, even with the stock ROM. However, despite hearing that the speaker volume was a little low I wasn't prepared for how bad mine is. I have upgraded from a Moto V3i and the lowest setting on the Moto is louder and clearer that the highest setting on the Ignito. When I listen closely as I adjust the volume using the keys on the side the sound is distorted at all levels and the 80% level is louder than the 100%, which seems to clip.
Are they all this bad or do some lucky ones have well-performing speakers with decent volume and a clean sound?
Well, my speaker is working just perfect. Clear sound, and i usally use it at 40-60%. Otherwise its too loud for me. But thats subjective. I know there are some sound comparison videos on Youtube. Maybe u check them out to see if you have a bad speaker.
IMO, the Diamond's speaker system is its weakest point. It has about the worst audio quality that I have encountered with any phone. My Diamond comes with 1.93 ROM and I have used the Schaps Adv Config tweaks. Sound level is still low and quality remains awful. Maybe I am missing something?
My speaker is low too. It also distorts slightly. I wouldn't say it bothers me though...
my speaker is low too .. actually as low as the Se w880i ... sincerly i cant use the speaker, i miss that from my touch
Same for me - speaker to low. All patches I've applied have not changed anything on the internal-speaker volume.
4 out of 5 replies to say the speaker volume is too low. Not looking good. Are we all deaf or are those that are happy with their speaker not bothering to reply? There are plenty of people that are happy with their Diamond so is that despite the poor speaker volume in most cases?
It seems to me that in developing an all-singing, all-dancing handset HTC have forgotten that it is also a phone and you can't answer the phone if you can't hear it ring
I have to say my ringtone volume is quite loud and mp3 playback is also quite loud, the only problem i have with the sound is the lack of bass and a little bit of distortion on the highest volume setting.
Same here - I am happy with the speaker/ringtone volume - distortion on the highest level is a problem.
My complaint would be the loud speaker during a call. It's almost non-existent and not useable - at all.
I also find the loudspeaker a little quite, but after the mod I read here about putting a small bit of clear tape over the speaker and put the back cover back on, it made big improvement to the sound quality and for me was a little louder
Indigo speaker level
I have had my Indigo from o2 for just over a couple of weeks, overall ringtone volume is ok, & volume during a call also exceptable although not as loud as my previous XDA Orbit. When on hands free the volume level is low, when used hands free in car callers are hardly audible, i have tomtom 6 installed and the volume level from the speaker then is fantastic, i can even lower it from the highest level, this suggests to be that there must be a registry tweak that can be applied as the speaker can produce a good volume level with third party software. Does anyone know of an edit to increase the speaker volume level when in hands free mode?
o2 XDA INDIGO
Rom 1.93.206.3WWE 8/7/08
Radio 1.00.25.05
Protocol 52.29.25.12H
Third party sofware ontop of o2 standard fare;
Tomtom6
Advanced config Manager
Total Commander ce
Stopwatch
Ariel battery
1-Calc Lite
Well, _all_ phones will produce distortion at highest level, the companies don´t care. They want it that way... High volume, lowprice speakers.
The ringtone/message alert volumes are fine and quite loud but on the MP3 player its very low, which is a disappointment as I dont want to always have to use headphones to listen to songs.
I do find the speaker poor.
I often don't hear the SMS alert, and it's not easy to listen to a call in a noisy place. My previous XDA Orbit was much better.
Is there a "fix", or do we just live with it?
There is a fix somewhere on here.

You should possibly check to see if your Audio Booster settings is switched on (you will find this in the Programs menu). Please note that your headset will be needed when trying to enable or disable the Equalizer. When disabled the sound is vastly improved.
t-mobile mda compyct IV
quality is just poor. volume is low but ok IMHO
Take a look at this:

I have the U.S. version of Diamond and I find the earpiece speaker to be very good. I've had quite a few phones to compare to. External speaker is a different story though.

I have troubles with speaker on XDA Diamond

Okay guys, hello to all!
I have the same problem as SergeyBE told here:2-3 month ago I got installed "IncreaseVol.cab", it's was better sound during the call, but twoo weeks ago it's beginning rattling and noising. Now I can hear just durring the call just if I push the button "Speaker", if I play mp3, it's sounds like it have to be.
So my speaker (which one when I listening to someone during the call) so it blowed up Yeah, there is noise and really bad bad sound But that speaker which is for when phone is ringing or listening to the music works fine after the boost! Now my phone is repairing but I want to increase a ring volume and volume when listening to the music (or watching video) without increasing volume parametres for the speaker which is working during the call!
So can anyone help me here? Does anybody here have original audiopara3 file with increased only Ring volume and Multimedia volume? or can somebody here make it for me? thanks a lot in advance
so nobody here can help me?!!
really maybe you know what parameters do I need to change for boosting only ring speaker?
I think i have the same problem. After playing with some roms, especially the udk syrius HD rom (beta 4 and 5) wich boost the volume - i now have troubles with the speaker during a phone call.
The strange thing is:
- they hear me fine; so the mic is not the problem.
- if i use a bluetooth carkit, the reception is fine. No noise in the call.
- if i play music or watch youtube, the speakers are fine.
- but if i make a call, i get noise to a terrible extend that i can hardly understand what the other site is talking about.
yeah the same and I had - so you need only to change the speaker
but I don't now what to do now - I don;t want to blow my speaker again, so I wanna just an audiopara3 file to boost ring volume and that is all
If you are talking about German O2 Xda Daimond (like mine), I had the same problem after month of usage - my speaker first started cracking and then sound disappered at all. I got it fixed under warranty, they replaced it. Looks like it is some sort of hardware flaw.
so after this case you have changed again your audiopara3 file and now the sound is boosted yeah? during the call and when the phone rings?
I called HTC and they said it needs repair. By now the speaker looks totally broken.
Nice thing is that UPS picked up the phone at my house.
what is UPS?

easy... highly modded audiopara3.cvs can broke (partially) the small speaker membrane... it's not a issue of the modded file itself... but the membrane is very thin so a too high volume can make damages on long run
okay so how I know there is 2 speakers in Diamond - 1. External - for listening to the music, watching videos, when the phone rings
2. Internal, when you are listening to somebody during the call
so I want to know how to increase in audiopara3 parametres only for increasing external speaker, when the phone rings
is it possible?

X1 has 3 Speakers !??

Hey Guys
I found out something interesting. I downloaded this freeware audio routing software for using the earpiece for sip softwares like skype which normally send their autput audio through the loudspeaker and not the normal speaker for calls.
http://www.teksoftco.com/storage/download.php?product=audioroute_ppc
now the interesting thing is that this software has 3 possible speaker choices
one is the internal the other the external and speakerphone that when is activated u hear music from xperia in a greeat quality and really high volume. It sound like stereo speakers. I am really wondering how many speakers has xperia? and why normally the music doesnt come out like this but in a very low quality. ???
suggestions welcome

Most likely two...the ear piece speaker and the speaker phone speaker.
I don't think there's an internal speaker like on the Ipod Nano.
so, your'e saying that you found a way to enhance the inside speaker??
Cool !
For as far as i heard, there is a mono speaker built in, and there where plans to make it stereo..
I just gave this a try, it does produce sound from the ear piece speaker on one of the settings and while it is a much better quality sound it is far too quiet to make a difference or to listen to, you actually need to put the phone to your ear to hear it.
Shame, I was hoping it would flesh out the poor sounding loudspeaker

I also had my xperia taken apart and couldn't see any other speakers. you can't always trust a software. if its programmed to say there are three speakers it will say there are three. also you have to look with which phones it is compatible

ok now try this
leave a song playing and from the software change from earpiece to speaker phone (The order is VERY important) so first put the audio to play in ur earpiece(first icon) then put it into the speakerphone (last icon) and u will hear a very loud music in a good quality. then if u change to the second icon u will hear the normal very low quality.
there is a huuuge difference

Ok, will give it a try later, so in theory it will be playing from both the ear piece and the loudspeaker, with the ear piece giving it a bit more oomph.
Will this work with the ring tone too???
This could be the final piece of the puzzle to make my Xperia perfect

this app is very bad...can't shut it down, speaker on and stuck there.
edit: okay, to shut it down you have to press the first icon and the little bar below is for moving it around.
the last icon did play with both speakers on. there is no 3rd speaker. first icon for the earpiece, second icon for speakerphone, and last icon for both. IT DOESN'T MAKE A BIG DIFF. Can you hear the earpiece loud? NO...

Strange ... for me it does ... but u have to pass from the earpiece (first icon) to the last icon ... and another icon will appear telling that speakerphone is ON and during this time the music is really much louder and in a much better quality.
like i said...the last icon is playing with both earpiece and speaker on. that's it.
Would the incall volume of the ear piece speaker make a difference...mind is set to the lowest so maybe when the sound is played through the ear piece that's why it's quiet.
What incall volume are you guys phones set too
carefull, you can burst your earpiece speaker with this.

Agreed, but there are only two speakers. Earpiece and mono loudspeaker.
The HTC Touch Pro2 has 3 speakers.
actually im thinking there might be three ... the one which is mono might have 2 speakers inside one low quality for music and ringtones and another good quality for loudspeaker during calls ... and is activated only when using loudspeaker during a call ... (u will see the same icon and notification that speakerphone is active)
but i really like the sound ... is like my laptop

Low call volume

Speakers are great for music or gaming but in call volume is quiet. both the speaker phone and the earpiece volume are too quiet for my liking. Is there any way to make them louder?
im also searching for solution...incall volume is so low
Really nothing? Earpiece and speaker phone call volume is so quiet when listening to Media or gaming it has the loudest most robust speakers of anything I've ever used. Is there a build.prop file I can change?
Mixer_paths! It's that. But which one? Somebody help!
So here's the fix-
Edit your build.prop file line "ro.audio.vibra.ring.vol.idx=5" I changed mine to 8 and reset.
Either the test call I made to my wife was wonky and really loud or volume is greatly increased. Actually had to turn volume down.

Also, I'm assuming this survives a reboot, correct?

Yeah sorry didn't reply back definitely isn't the fix. Not sure why none of the developers here haven't chimed in on this. Fantastic speakers but they're so limited specifically for phone calls. Wtf.
has anyone found a fix for this? call volume is very low.
NOTE: speakers work fine in playing music, videos and playing games.
I have the same issue and I have been checking this thread from time to time to see if anyone had posted a possible fix for this. I hope someone knows how to fix this low call volume.
