Youtube working with HTC streaming media - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hi all,
This is my first post but I hope it will help. Also, beeing french, it might be crawling with mistakes.
I've been looking around for a way to have youtube working on my Kaiser. Here is what I wanted :
- possibility to launch youtube videos from the m.youtube.com site
- possibility to watch TV (from the SFR portal page)
- using HTC streaming media to play the videos
Here is what I did not want :
- using youtubeplay (which is a great app but I like to be able to search or to play specific videos)
- using the TCPMP plugin (for no specific reason except the I was deadlocked on using HTC streaming media)
My config is :
- HTC Kaiser
- ROM : ROMeOS v4.1 with some tweaks for french (keyboard mainly)
- SFR Illymithics (France)
After several unsuccesfull atempts (despite searching the forum), I finally found a solution.
First, I installed the HTC diamond streaming player found in this forum (thx P1Tater for posting it). Appart form updating the app to a newer version, I did not change the fact that I couldn't play videos. The error message was always the same : "error connecting".
Second, I added the following REG key :
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StreamingDShow]
"OpenOriginalUDPPorts"=dword:00000001
Videos are now working perfectly.
For the record, I did not find the solution. A friend of mine had the same problem with his Diamond. He found a cab version of HTC streaming media which seemed to work. I tried it on my Kaiser and except for the VGA interface, videos did work perfectly. I then compared this app with the one listed above and I found 2 differences :
- the above reg key
- a newer version of Emz3GPStreamingFilter.dll
The new DLL did not seem to improve anything so I just droped it.
Since the Diamond working cab was sent to me by email, I don't want to post it here 'cause I do not know where it's from. It's called Tom's HTC diamond streaming media (or something similar) if you wish to look for it.
Well I hope this help.

Thanks for your feedback but.... the m.youtube.com already works fine with the french shipped rom, isn't it ?

I don't know about the French shipped Rom. If you mean the WM6.1 FRA found here, it did not work for me. I did not try going back to the the SFR ROM which is still in WM6. i tried several other Roms (French or others) found here but had the same issue. What's your Rom based on ? Any preferences on the existing roms ?

Thanks for your post. I am facing the same problem ...
the registry key that you mention, how did you find it?

Nice, I'm going to have to try this out. I keep getting the "connecting" issue.

for your first post this is good work and another way of getting youtube to work for people.
-youtube player works great
-skyfire as well
add your tweak to the list (although I haven't tested it yet I acknowledge you and your friends discovery)

Well, as I explained, after trying several version of the streaming media app, I finally stumbled upon one that actually worked. Since it wes for VGA, I had to find what difference there was to other streaming media app.
I do not know what this reg key means or even does. I just point out that whithout it I could not get youtube video working.

Well, I know youtube player works. However, you can only see predefined feeds (or maybe you have another version of the player)
I do not know about Skyfire but it says you have to be in the US to get it so I ll have to wait for the first official release.

Thanx alot!!

Maybe the solution
I had that problem to.
it wasn't even possible to connect with messenger .
what i did was..!!
I have disabled the proxy using of my g/3g/HSDPA connection and it works fine with streaming media on my tytn2 kaiser..!
I hope this will solve your problem..
How To;
1 go to start
2 Go to settings
3 choose tab connections
4 click on connetions.
5 modify excisting connections
6 choose tab proxysettings and disable the using of the proxyserver
I hope this will solve your problem..
Let it know if it solves your problem too..!!

I screwed htc media...
I think I screwed htc streaming media.
I have an XDA Orbit II with htc streaming media 2.2 (built 1026.711) pre-installed. I could open Youtube videos from Explorer with no problems.
I installed flash player 2.1, real-player and TCMP as I was playing with Opera 9.5 (as many of you…)
The result is that htc streaming media (using Explorer) is not associated with youtube videos anymore. I have removed all other players form the ppc but it still doesn’t work. Every time I click on a video I just see the opening bar for 1sec and that’s it.
I tried to re-install htc media I found in the post but It doesn’t work (installation unsuccessful).
Does anybody know how to configure the htc again?
I went in the reg but I don’t know the keys to change.
Please help

I'm very thanks for you

I've downloaded HTC diamond streaming player from the link and added the registry but still won't play after showing Buffering activity for 7 secs.
Help please....

Great! Thank you very much for this registry key:

Thanks.

My reg key is ok, but i can't stream video from youtube app and m.youtube.com

streaming media not working on tilt

I can't seem to get htc streaming media to work on my tilt
I've intalled clean ROMs. then put the streaming media files over. this usually ended up with a sdkcerts type error when running the exe, and the javascript and flash out of date in PIE.
I then flashed shaps full ROM which has streaming media installed already.
this lets me load up the streaming media exe just fine. haven't tried opening anything in that yet. no untrusted error. but PIE still gives me the javascript and flash error and no video. I've grabbed sdkcerts.cab from duttys repository, and still nothing.
has anyone got this runing on a tilt yet?
does anyone have any ideas on how to get it running or what I need to do short of buying a TyTN?

1. I've explained why S.M. doesn't run on some ROM's in my article in the first bullet of the "UPDATE (06/29/2007)" section at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=2045&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

youtube.com is working with i.e. and tcpmp

Other people with the same ROM have it running fine with no changes. I did a hard reset with this rom and it still gives me the javascript error
just for a test, I followed the links in your article and tried installing the available links and it still doesnt work.
So far, the people that have said that it's running fine for them are TyTNs, not tilts. but with the same ROM as I am running. So something about my phone being a Tilt is making this not run.

I've got tcpmp running great with ytpocket. I consider myself a bit of an expert on it now hahha.
What I dont have running is htc streaming media on my Tilt. and I havent seen anyone post that they do have it running on a tilt, regardless of rom.
The reason that I want this is for non youtube sites.
This (not work safe, but fully clothed) video, for example, plays just fine on my friends TyTN, but wont play on my Tilt
http://www.livevideo.com/media/playvideo_fs.aspx?fs=1&cid=80F6C6492B334402A9F98361628D06C5
Will that one play on your phone? in PIE?
you could also use www.veohgopckt.com and www.ytpocket.com to stream them to tcpmp.all you need to do is install the FlashVideo plugin.
try these cabs... this is all you should need to install to get the "real" youtube to work

YOUTUBE is not working on HTC TYTN II anymore....

Hi All,
I have been using YOUTUBE on my HTC TYTN II since last two months through FlashVideoBundle.CAB and TCMP and it was working flawlessly until I checked yesterday.
Now I am not able to see any videos on www.ytpocket.com and moreover when I go to main www.youtube.com and click on a video and say either save or play it shows me error message “youtube swf args not found”.
Please help me to sort out this problem.
Thanks.

Are you sure it will not screw any existing applications as i was able to stream youtube before and apart from youtube i am still able to stream videos from other websites like goggle videos, VEOH videos, DIVX STAGE6 videos etc...
It is just a concern.....
Thanks for your help
Not sure about that, guess you'll just have to try and find out.
Just out of curiosity, how do you stream vids from stage6? Is there a plugin or a certain player for that?

I use TCMP and FlashVideoBundle for Stage 6, Just you need to associate divx files with TCMP.
Just as additional information, in the event that someone had the same problem as me.
I had problems through wifi where it failed to connect.
The phone had defaulted to trying to connect through "My ISP" in the streaming media app options. To get it working through wifi, just change the option to connect through "The Internet" and it goes for the wifi rather than the phone network (which I have disabled with Modaco".
I just tried m.youtube.com and everything works as usual. I use HTC Streaming Media, it intergrates with browser perfectly. You can find a cab floating somewhere on the forum.
Sorry to hijack the thread man, but I thought it might be better not to open a new one for a very similar problem.
I had to hard reset my device yesterday and then I've installed everything back.
Now youtube doesn't work as it is supposed to. When I'm watching a stream in landscape mode and I want to see it full screen, it rotates back to portrait.
Before the hard reset it was working just fine. What could it be?
Thanks.
The ROMeOS Rom works very well with YouTube. If you want to try it here it is, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406346. It as actually a very good, stable, and fast Rom. It is on the Lite side and an excellent base to add just what you want in your Rom.
hey guys, ive been reading ur treads and everything. i got all necesarry files on my phone to play youtube videos. but, when i enter any of the youtube pages u gave links to. and wanna open a film to se it. i get this message could not find the network.(the film always open in the phones media player)
can this be the problem? i dunno how to fix it. so a little help would be great

You Tube Viewing

I have searched the site and found a bunch of threads on viewing you tube vids, however there are so many post edits etc. that I can't follow which .cab etc we are supposed to be using.
I have downloaded that TCMP and the new version of flashget but still no luck.
Can someone that has a tilt please post what they are using and if it works on this thread - many thanks!!!!
I simply go the mobile version of you tube (m.ca.youtube.com). When I click on a video link the HTC Streaming application (which came with my Kaiser) starts up and plays the video. That simple.
Two notes, however;
1) Over my WiFi connection I need to configure my wifi router to put my Kaiser in the "DMZ - Demilitarized Zone" so as to allow full access to the internet. Otherwise the RTSP streaming fails and the HTC Streaming application complains about an inability to access the connection.
2) Streaming doesn't work over GPRS for me. This is most likely due to my cell phone carrier not allowing full internet access (much like when I don't have my WiFi router configured to put my Kaiser in the DMZ).
To use the "proper" YouTube, as opposed to the mobile version, you need these two .cabs:

I have both of these intstalled with duttys rom ver 4 and I still get the "failed to find network" error in streaming media when using 3g att or wifi. I used to have no problem streaming vids (besides it being really slow and chopy) over att when I was using an older duttys touchflo 6 for att.
I searched too but all I found was some blurbs about youtube changing addressed and wifi in DMZ mode (which neither seemed to apply)
but I am a tard so who knows...

ah, try using internet explorer
Follow these steps & pay attention...
Dude, Seriously...You may have read the thread, but you really need to pay attention to what you read. FLASHGET??? FLASH LITE??? Both of these have NO IMPACT on playing flash video.
What you need is:
(A) TCPMP either .72 or .81 (You said you have)
(B) FlasVideoBundle
Instal This:
http://rapidshare.com/files/87945596/FlashVideoBundle.CAB
After installing, make sure that the following files were all copied to the TCPMP root directory (i.e. For .72 \Programs\TCPMP or \Storage Card\Programs\TCPMP or for .81 \Programs\TCPMP\Player):
DiagVL.exe
DisableVL.exe
flvffmpeg.plg
flvsplitter.plg
MenuToggle.exe
VideoLoader.dll
These files must be in the TCPMP directory! It should do it automatically if you use .72. However, for .81 you must copy the files by hand.
After insuring the files have been coppied to the right directory, then launch TCPMP & go to preferences & set the file associations for the flash video, i.e. flv)
Note: without the current version of FlashBundle Youtube will no longer work. I have attached the most current version to the link above.
AND YES, you must use either PIE or (OPERA Mobile 8.65 (NOT MINI) with the macromedia flash player 7).

Dude, excuse the hell out of me...when neither the TCPMP and flashvideo bundle worked - someone suggested flash lite so I installed that as well...I don't think I EVER read where you couldn't use opera mini - thank you to you guys for pointing that out. I will try what you just posted, thanks for taking the time to help someone who obviously "didn't pay attention to what I read"
I can provide some insight, although I really new at this. I installed both cabs and can view all youtube videos through a portal site called ytpocket.com, using the search field at the top. This does not address the larger issue of how to play streaming flash videos from other websites. Specifically, on real youtube, I get the error message "youtube swf args not found" and the title bar of the error message is "VideoLoader." I have no idea what this means.
I also can't get the m.youtube.com site to play videos becuase the Real Player doesn't recognize 3gp files, and my attempts to associate these files with TCMP have apparently failed.
Hope this helps and hope someone smarter than me can solve these two problems! Thanks all.

HTC Streaming Media V2.20 b217.821 CAB for T-Mobile streaming TV

Hello,
I tested 5 different HTC Streaming CAB installers found on this Website. Are al in no luck for playing the TV streams provided by the Dutch T-MObile provider.
- STreaming Media Cab extraced from Diamond Rom V3.00 (nothing, also no m.youtube.com)
- Cab for version 2.1. install OK, TV streaming doesn't work, http://m.youtube.com does!
- Another device (work) has a HTC Tytn 6.1. Rom, with a Streaming Media player HTC version V2.20. I'm unable to extract the CAB installer from it
So I'm in search of a Media Streaming CAB file V2.20 b217.821 (Dutch or English) doesn't mather, prefer English! Perhaps another V2.20 bXXXX will work aswell, only Cab I found are V2.1 bXXXX

Hello,
What is the problem you have with the player ? If it is a connexion error, I had the same issue with youtube. I posted a solution that worked for me here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417005&highlight=youtube
It might help you out.
Still no luck...
I added the registry entry, wo any luck. M.youtube.com is working except the T-mobile TV streams. They start, butt after 7 seconds (cache time) it stops, during 7 seconds no vid and no sound. I also tried the HTC Diamond Streaming client V3.00 bXXXX it gives an error "Server or data time out; tap Play to reconnect"
Another kaiser with V2.20 bXXXX is working, so i search a Cab which installs V2.20 bXXXX
Regards Tom
Are you aware of the fact that it is only working if you have web 'n walk PLUS?? 15 euro's instead of 10 (-ish)

What rom are you running??
Can be an issues as I had problems with streams in an earlier Hyperdragon rom - but the new is perfect.
just downloaded the t-mobile update for the kaiser, works flawless...streaming media 2.20 build 1816.4030 is added to the tmob image.
I think there is a special program for playing youtube clips
I forgot its name now, sorry
Hello all,
I pay for the 15 Euro version, I want to use my own custom Rom. I checked with my own sim in another HTC Kaiser devices, TV is working.
I do not want to use the T-Mobile firmware i Just wondered if someone has a Cab installer vor version 2.20. bxxxx because that's the version which seems to be working!
Best Regards, Tom
Same problem here, I'm using a custom rom, and can't get TV to work.
I'm also paying for the 15 euro version. Really good downlink speed.
I would advise you to not try the patch from the dutch T-Mobile site. Althought it not intended for the Kaiser I tried it, now Streaming Media will not start.

Still cant get youtube to work...

Yes, I've searched and searched, this forum and others and can't seem to get this to work. I've installed the Flash Bundle and TCPMP, in the same place and neither IE or Opera 9 will stream even youtube mobile videos. What am I doing wrong?
BTW, stock ATT tilt WM 6.1
Thanks
Google youtube play
its an awesome program that allows you to play videos as well as save them and convert them into audio files which is pretty sweet for ringtones
haha
Oh and if you really want it browser style try skyfires new browser
opera mobile 9.5 is still in beta and does not currently support video
Or flash the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM. It is the STREAMING MEDIA PLAYER integrated and works without additional configuration even through Pocket IE.
download skyfire browser and you should be able to view youtube videos with no probs or any video

I flashed the latest official HTC WM6.1 ROM as soon as it was released from AT&T a couple months ago, and still nothing (not PIE not Opera, not Iris) will stream video for me except Skyfire.
Just a quick question... did you do a soft reset?
If so and it still doesn't work then unistall your tcpmp and flashbundle.
I was having the same problems until I installed this combination of cabs.
1 TCPMP-0.72RC1-ARM-PPC-recomp-03.CAB

Obviously, install to the same location, soft reset and let the videos begin. To see applicable websites go to start\programs\video sites.html

a solution if you're willing to pay a bit
I used TCPMP with the flash bundle with no problem for WM 6.0, but started having trouble with the 6.1 version as well. My solution... go with the upgraded version of TCPMP (CorePlayer). Yes, you have to pay for it, but it can allow for direct search/play of Youtube videos. It's also a pretty fanfreakintastic media player. It's going to cost you about 30 clams, but for me, it's well worth it. I've been playing videos and music with it nonstop since WM 6.1 came out without any problems. No crashing, no excessive pauses, nada.
