Accidently ending calls - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hey, I'm having some technical problems with my TyTN/Kaiser. Most times I'm in a voice call I will have the phone against my cheek like all people do, but the problem is that when I move around slighty or whatever the end button is being pressed on the touch screen by my cheek.
This is so annoying and I've read through the manual and couldn't find anything to disable touch screen in a call, so now I come to you folk
Is there any way to lock touch screen only (not buttons) in a call?

A_Cs S2U2 has some of this functionality.

My Tilt allows me to do a quick-press of the power button while on a call. That turns off my screen, but still allows me to end a call with the "hard" end button.

you could use advance config/kaiser tweak to enable fast sleep when in call that turns the screen off while still keeping it unlocked so the buttons work after a few seconds..... otherwise press the power button quickly as soon as you have made the call/answered the phone

Cool, this sounds alright, but when you say turns the screen off but keeps it unlocked, does that mean the end button is still pressable on the screen?
I can't believe nobody has this problem.. happens to me almost every call.

When the screen goes off, either by time-out or quick press of the power button, the screen "buttons" are not enabled.
You can end the call with the red end button. Or, if you prefer... another quick press of the power button to "wake up" the screen, and you can use the soft buttons again.

No, I had it happen frequently in my first few weeks of ownership, but it's not happening of late. I don't know what I'm doing different, but it was a real pain.

tired of pressing the power button

My finger hurts since I have to press the power button (small and flat) too many times a day to wake the diamond from sleep. you can argue that I can set the phone not to sleep but sleep is a must to save battery. using all keys to wake it up can cause any keys to be easily hit by accident, which drains battery fast too. Power button is meant to be used rarely, like the PC reset button.
is there a better way to wake up the diamond? is it possible to configure ONLY the OK (center) button to do this? like the iphone, you just press the OK button. it is big and does not hurt as much?
How exactly do you keep pressing the power button till your finger hurts?

hit it once does not hurt but every time it go to sleep and I have to hit the button to wake it up. that is when it hurts.
let say I set it to go to sleep every 40 sec. how many time does it go to sleep in an hours? at least couple times.

I've found that the pressure required on the Power Button can depend on the particular Diamond. I've owned two US Diamonds and the first had a difficult Power Button while the second was much easier. Either way, another option to turn it on is to pull out the stylus a short distance - this will wake the Diamond as well. As far as using the center of the D-Pad - I've no idea . . .

even though using the stylus is less painful but it takes more steps: get finger nail in the gap, pull it out, then push it back in. if you do these steps many time over an hour, it would be tidious task.
On my diamond responsivity of the power button depends strongly on where I'm pressing it. You can try to press it different ways and find out where you get most tactile feedback of the micro-switch. I have the impression that for me it is when I'm pressing from behind, more on the left of it.

Yes, but other keys such as volumn, home, back, answer and end key are also unlocked. Anyway, there are all hardware keys available to press opening the phone in additon to the default on/off button. I am now using this option.
ya but they will complain that all the buttons are unlocked. that method is just TOO easy.
edit: OMG i was right. and too slow. hahaha
maybe next time the phone can get u a beer or work for you...man...
Surely this is the Answer..?
OK, the way I see solving this is to have the phone wait longer before auto-locking.
To sort this, go to the following..
Start\Settings\System\Power\Advanced..
Go to 2nd option - It's a tick Box labelled "Turn off Device if not used for.." and adjust it to suit..
This is found in the manual..?
Cheers,
Phil.

well, it´s maybe less a matter of laziness than of speed, my last phone was a slider ... slide, it wakes up, slide, it goes to sleep - superquick
with the diamond it takes one step more:
I use the option "do not lock buttons" in combination with S2U2, most often I press the ok button and slide to unlock
to put the phone to sleep, I press the power button or use gyrator: I just have to turn the phone face down, than the screen goes off (with S2U2 locking)
hm, maybe I should have bought the diamond pro, but diamond is sexier

Locking diamond

hi everyone!! i found that if i press some time the end call buttom, there are a few options that i could do, one of them is to lock the diamond... and i set long press the end call buttom to lock the device...
diamond locks when long press the end call buttom, but doesn't go sleep... is there anyway to put the power buttom to do the 2 things simultouneasly?? when you press the power buttom, it locks the device and put it to sleep! is anyway to do this??
I believe that when the device is in standby from pressing the power button all the other keys are locked with exception to the power button anyway? I know its not exactly what you're after but it seems a simpler solution than any others I can think of.
Some sort of script would do it, either MortScript of SKScheMa, to first lock the device (by launching Endkey.exe) and then power off.
Edit: There's also an auto keylock setting that I think locks the device anytime the power is off, maybe that's what you need?

Hi this is how I have always locked my diamond by pressing power off it locks and turns off the screen also, this is performed by a registry edit, using a registry editor and going to Hkey-current-user\controlpanel\backlight\autodevicelockenable and changing from 0 to 1, this will also auto lock everytime the backlight turns off so you may have to change back light off time
that should work.. but there isn't a simply way to put the power off key to do the lock of the pda and to switch off the lights??
isn't a way to do this??

X1 Auto Key Lock?

Hey I was hoping that someone new of a registry setting or 3rd part app that I could use to automatically lock the keys of my X1 after a minute or so.
I can only find the option to do it with a password in the standard settings and I'm sure that would get annoying after a while so I was hoping to do one without, just like that standard key lock.
Any ideas?
For me after one minute it will lock automatically and can only restore it with the power button (can lock the keys manually by pressing the power button key too).
See Start -> Settings -> System -> Power -> Advanced
Tick the second option and set your preferred time.
Do you mean the lock function from holding down the end call button?

Exactly, I would prefer that to the setting to turn the screen off and only being able to turn it on via the power button, if possible

Sorry if this isn't what you are after, but...
Start -> Settings -> System -> Power -> Advance
On battery power:
[x] Turn off device if not used for: [3 min \/]
Start -> Settings -> System -> Key Lock
When device is in Sleep mode:
(x) Wake up the device by pressing the POWER button
...results in my phone going to sleep after 3 mins of no use, with the only way to wake it by pressing the power button (or to have an incoming call)

Yeah in those 3 minutes the screen takes any touch as an input though, while being in your pocket.
I don't get it, if you hold down the close call button the phone locks itseld and you get a click here to unlock screen if you touch the screen. Why can't the X1 have an option to enable this after x seconds?
Hell, my T630 has that.

What's wrong with the power button lock? It is almost the same, the difference is that you don't have to touch the screen to unlock but press the power button.
I don't understand at all this topic. The topic starter said he wants a lock without pressing anything after one minute. The solution provided by me and artesea is exactly that. Again the only difference is the unlocking method which instead using the screen you press the power button.
People are quite finicky these days....
I find this annoying also.
I now have to lock my phone (holding down the end call button) and then push the off button when I put it in my pocket. Would be better if theres an auto screen off and keyboardlock when you push the off-button.
Sorry, do we have different phones??????
To "lock" my phone I press the Power button, everything goes dark and I can put it in my pocket, doesn't matter if I hit the call button or tap the screen, the only way to "unlock" the phone is to press the Power button again.
If I forget to press the Power button after 3 minutes (but you can set this as low as 40 seconds) it "locks" the phone for me.
No need to press the End Call, or tap on the today screen.

I used to just press the power button and put the phone to sleep too... but then after a could long flight I found out that 1) if I put my phone in my jeans' front pocket (or actually... anywhere that have a chance to bump the power button), I can hit the power button and 2) once I hit the power button, the phone wakes for a couple hours trying to search for the network in the sky... and thanks god the plane didnt crash because of that but it did drain all the battery
I dunno if you have seen this too, but I realized that happened to me a couple times (not only on the plane but when I was walking as well) and eventually I decide I will hit the end call button to lock the phone before I hit the power button
this also happened when I had S2U2 installed... but since I didnt find it too useful (very nice if you want a iphone feel... but I already had an iphone for too long =P) and I dont want another application running in the background I decided to use the lock button instead
I was looking for automatic keylock too .. and then I too relized I don't need it ! Automatic screen-off is all I need.
For everyone who doesnt understand this thread, hold down the end call button and wwatch what happens.
The benefit is that yiu can see updates, email, sms, etc because the screen remains on for a while.

But actually this is what you are looking for.

its hard to answer calls on hd7 when phone is acting up

hey guys sometime when i get and incoming call my phone start acting up and i cant slide up to take the call, my screen wont respond and no hard keys to press if some one know how to fix this please let me know if not im giving this wp7 a 2nd software update a chace to get this right. ms should be a genieus when it comes to software not apple or google. you never know when a emergency call comes in and you could not get it, im so concern about this. i had enough with 6.5 now this. but the problem is that i love ms i keep coming back. ****tttt
if a soft reset doesn't fix it you could hard reset. Just make sure you make a list of installed apps to make sure you get them all back on there.
I hadn't heard of this happening before.
I had the same problem once. I just switched the display off and on again (while the phone was still ringing) and then I could take the call.

+1 this happens from time to time.
hit the POWER button to shut of screen, this just powers of the sound and display and does not efect the incoming call.
Press the POWER button to turn the screen back on where you still see the incoming call and the screen will now respond correctly allowing you to answer.
no need to rest or anything.

[Q] Power button ending call

This seems a little strange to me - whenever I use my phone as a speakerphone or through my Bluetooth and the screen powers off, there is no easy way to turn on the display again without either ending the call (Power button) or going through the camera by holding the shutter button and then hitting the home key.
Does this happen to anybody else?
I'm on 14.1.G.1.518.

Try again without "Adapt to lighting conditions" in Display > Brightness. And when the screen go off in the middle of the call scroll the phone. If the screen show up keep it in that way. If not try disabilitate also Optimized Backlight. Restart the Phone. Sometime happen with Android.

I found what the issue was - under Accessibility options, there is an option Power button ends call. That was enabled.
I don't remember enabling that option and I've never had the need to enter that menu.

Ok, but I don't understand why the screen do not show up anyway after call or even in the middle of the call. That option don't do that.
