VOIP (SIP) on Rapahel / HTC Touch Pro ??? - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Hello.
I want to buy HTC Touch Pro, but it is importand that VOIP (SIP) is working on this device.
Can somone tell me if it works or not???
Thank you,

That is a very good question Goose;
The firm where I work is migrating to VOIP, and I'd like to use the HTC as main line phone.
Let's hope someone tested the VOIP on the Raphael...

http://www.voipphreak.ca/2008/03/29...mobile-6x-for-free-voip-calls-using-asterisk/
don't know if it's working, but it should I cannot test it for you..

Thanks Lepermessiah,
I'll test it as soon as I receive my device back from repair (1 week hopefully) and keep you posted on how this SIP VOIP client runs...

Perhaps take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=401608
I havent tested it out yet as I also have a raphael on its way back to the retailer at the mo.

Lol, you too Mrvanx?
Seem that the Raphael is like Vista: they released it too early without fully testing it and resolving all the bugs...

It is pointless to buy such advenced smartphone without voip support.
I mean, it is whole point with wifi on it.
Ow yes, we can browse web, but I can't really find it fun to use Opera Mobile on a small screen.

It is possible to make Voip calls using skype for ppc. there is a download availible on ppc warez

No need to refer to warez, please! Skye for ppc is available from Skype http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windowsmobile/

And when skype became SIP?
I asked about SIP based VOIP not Skype.

Like i mentioned try the thread above and see how you get on, on my other device (HTC Hermes) it works a charm, VoIP was part of Windows mobile however it never seemed to make it to any of the official builds, mostly because obviously it takes business/revenue away from a mobile network provider correct?
Why present the customer with a subsidised handset which can bypass thier mobile network to make calls for free/cheap??

I tried to connect my touch pro to my asterisk server using the "built in" client. It kind of worked, I could initiate/answer calls over wifi, but about 2 seconds after the call connected the phone went in to sleep mode and cut off the wifi connection, tried messing around with the settings in advanced config but nothing helped. Also with the VIOP cab installed it is impossible to use the GPS.
I wouldn't recommend it.

Yes i noticed the GPS conflicted with the driver, pretty sure there is a solution in the thread.
Take a look in advanced config (3.2) i THINK there is a setting in there to stop the device sleeping as a call is made, i WOULD look but my raph doesnt get back to me until either tomorrow or the day after.

i am ignorant apparently, so what is the difference between SIP and voip skype calls?
why can I not refer to ppc warez?

SIP is a protocal which many VoIP providers use, see explanation here.
Skype is a brand name, they use thier own protocol to communicate hence thier own software. the "built in" VoIP drivers use SIP so you can use any provider you like which supports SIP.

thanx mrvanx

After all, is this possible or not??
I can voip with SJphone and Fring, but they have the problem of the external speaker, but I cannot voip using the multiple tutorials here on xda to make voip calls with the phone (without 3rd party programs...)

Warez is a reference to illegal software - we don't want to attract that kind of attention as it will only end up causing too much hassle for the whole forum . See the rules for posting (no. 11) here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=221545

yes that is true, but i didnt refer to illegal software, skype mobile is free to use. i refered to ppc only because there are a lot of advices if something is wrong with installation or something else. nothing more.
sorry anyways

Guys.
Is there any 3part SIP software, just software so we canuse any VOIP provider with SIP suport?
To be cleared: I do not have this phone, I want to know if VOIP over SIP will work before buying it, if not, I have to wait for fix or other phone...

Kaiser - Built In VOIP client?

I recently had the chance to play with the Nokia E61i and the built in VOIP client is brilliant. It allows you to use internal speaker, speaker phone and bluetooth with VOIP calls.
I had a Pocket PC before HTC Titan, but unfortunately had to sell it because I am traveling a lot now. I will primarly use my device in South America where the WCDMA band is different. I am thinking about getting the Nokia E90 or the HTC Kaiser, but must make sure the Kaiser will have built in VOIP client. Can someone confirm? Thanks
Even knowing there are many VOIP applications for Windows Mobile, I tried many with the HTC Titan and only ONE worked ok, but the problem was it only worked trough the speaker phone which was very annoying and not convenient.
I understand voip should be included in WM6.
IE : the integrated phone application can do voip.
Tried it with WM6 and voipbuster on my HTC Wizard and it's working although the sound is not so good sometimes because of the Wizard weak processor (I think).

I have already asked that question some time ago - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322377 - and it turned out there is no VoIP support in Kaiser by default. I haven't seen any traces of VoIP in Kaiser I've played with two days ago. And finally, take a look into official Kaiser product sheets - they don't mention VoIP at all, while it's a good feature to shout about.
So basically, there is no VoIP support in Kaiser. However, installing it as an add-on from cab files might have a chance to work, but someone with real Kaiser with hands would need to test it and let us know.
That is really sad. I guess I am going to have to go with the Nokia E90 until a Windows Mobile device has a built in VOIP client.

VOIP is easily installed by YOU.
There's no reason to not get a kaiser because it doesn't have this if you are a member of these forums.

I have Kaiser now, I've installed VOIP Drivers.cab and MajikVOIP.cab. Installs all components correctly, logs into SIP account, makes a call, but... sound comes out of external speaker, instead of internal earpiece!
Did you manage to make it work properly and if yes - which cabs exactly did you install? Thanks.
im keen to find out also! I thought that you could only access voip using cooked roms.
There are a number of WM5 VoIP endpoints available.... however I'm not entirely sure about WM6 yet. I work in VoIP, and its on my list of things the check now that i have my shiny new TyTN II sat infront of me!
I'll keep you all updated with my findings.
Mind you.. i must check tmobiles policy on VoIP, I had a sneaky feeling they are blocking necessary ports...
managing your voip client?
for those with Voip enabled and working, can you tell me how the voip client determines which connection to use, ie wifi or using the data plan?
I have installed Fring and it works well. Is this different than the other voip programs discussed above?
from what i understand, Fring is a stand alone app, where as the voip i am looking at is fully integrated into the phone and uses the standard dialer, hence my previous question about how the Voip determines which connection to use? And if that is automatic? ie. if wifi is available will it just connect via wifi and if wifi isnt available will it then revert automatically to using the data plan to make the voip call.
Not that this helps with the Kaiser, but according to HP, the new iPaq BM series should have the VoIP client enabled by default; in fact, as far as I'm aware, it's the only device announced with it enabled.
Hi,
I'm new to the PDA and WM phone world, and i have a quick question. If there was a voip program of sorts for a phone like this, would that mean you could just pay for a data plan and not have to pay for a voice plan from a company like AT&T? And then u could still text message, e-mail, internet and the sorts, but also be able to make calls through your program?
Hi
Most providers (certainly here in the UK) flag data used for Messenging and/or VoIP so they are charge at a higher rate or excluded from your inclusive allowance so you pay extra or not blocked completely.
VoIP on a mobile device is only really of benefit when you are in range of a wireless connection.
Regards
Phil
Hey, thanks for the reply. Does anyone know if AT&T restrict data like he said? That's gonna be the main service i will be using, and want to know if they do or not.

[SOLVED] How to have VoIP and GPS working in Diamond !

Hi,
I think it can be a solution for everyone who wants to use M$ VoIP and GPS in his Diamond (till today if you use VoIP, GPS goes dead).
IMHO problem was one file called dnsapi.dll in VoIP cab which overwrite original one in ROM. It caused that GPS goes dead.
I've removed this file from my OEM package and cooked a ROM with VoIP. I tested this and VoIP and GPS is working without any problems.
I using only OEM packages - if someone can make a cab file from attached OEM package and test it, maybe we will have a solution for everyone !
[2008-08-08] UPDATE - CABs can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2497988&postcount=8
Sound great!!
This is what i´ve been waiting for... fring does the trick... but BAD.
Sweet.
Good idea, a shame I don't know how to make a .cab.
None of the VoIP programs I tested work on the diamond (even Fring doesn't work properly...)

I'm not talking about Skype and Fring - issue was with VoIP drivers from M$. With that you can dial via e.g. Halonet from normal dialpad.
Anyone tried to make proper CAB? For chefs attached OEM package is ready to cook.

Aaaah, thanks Saves me from Hardreset because the VOIP drivers wouldn't uninstall anymore... Have something in return: Here you have two CABs which do not install a dnsapi.dll, and tested them on my diamond. Works perfectly. You even dont have to reset the phone...
If feedback is positive, maybe the OP could change topic into "[solved]..."?
One tiny thing left to do: Change the ipdialplan.xml to make VOIP dial those "+1 (999) 1212 - 1212" numbers as well ^^

I've tested in HTC GPS Tool and Automapa (Polish navigation).
Anyone tried CAB prepared by mcseven?
I used tomtom 7, outdoor gps and mobile terminal emulator to see nmea records on COM4 directly. all 3 programs were running simultaneously and were receiving GPS.
I also tried to connect the VOIP to my asterisk, works as well, but cannot call any +1* numbers or numbers with brackets, since I dont know how to change the ipdialplan.xml in /windows...
I didn't know wich one of the .cab I should install so I installed both; I started with the drivers, it did nothing then I installed WM6Voip, it seemed to work. So I installed SIPconfigTool to configure my connection and I tested TomTom, the GPS was detected (whereas it wasn't with the original WM6Voip). Nevertheless, I tried to use my VoIP account over 3G but it couldn't connect (whereas Fring can connect).
works fine using tomtom 7 and GoSIP...
Yes, possibly the built-in VOIP cannot use STUN functionality, and fring can. I believe that to be a firewall issue.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. I establish a connection, but 5 seconds into a call the diamond ceases to transmit voice. Receiving voice from the remote party however continues flawlessly. No Headset connected and not put into a docking station. Has anyone a similar problem or even a solution to that?

Well, yes. Use a program called SIP config (anyone you like, I use this one) to program your provider settings into the phone. Then make sure to visit Settings->Phone->"Internet" Tab and change it from "Never" to a setting of your liking. After that (and pressing ok in the top right corner) it should register with your VOIP provider as soon as there is a data connection available. If your phone places a call via VOIP, it will ring a short audible "beep" prior to connecting. I found no way to tell it explicitly "use cellular network" or "use VOIP network" for placing a call. Perhaps this will be added in a later ROM.
However, now I seem to have that 5 seconds silence bug. (...)

I believe that to be a firewall issue as well. Yesterday I went home from work and put the phone directly into my home Wifi net with direct connection to my asterisk server. Everything works fine.
Today I used another access point at work, and it worked fine as well, so if you are having trouble getting voice to the remote party it most likely is your firewall's fault.
btw I have not found a way to use the internal=headset speaker, it will always use the loudspeaker for received audio.
wow, big THANKS.
works fine for me. Could connect to my Axon PBX with SIP and GPS also runs fine (Tested with tomtom7 and WMMiniGPS).
I realy waited for that and had also two hard resets behind me previous during tests
It almost works for me. I can connect, but my voice doesn't arrive to the other side of the line at all. Neither does the voice of the other side arrive to me. The line is open, but seems 'dead'.... what am I doing wrong?
ipdialplan.xml for sipgate in Germany
Fantastic, with the new cabs now GPS and WM6VoIP works. Attached a dialplan which I modified last year for my Kaiser. It works with my sip provider in Germany (sipgate) and you can dial local plan, leading 00 or + or 0. It may work also for others.

Great job!

VoIP via 3G

I also I tried to install WM6 VoIP and setup Voip, but does not work very well. The problem is not only that does not work and you also freezes the internal antenna GPS and the only way to restore the proper functioning is a HARD RESET.
I lived on my skin and only after I read in other POST.
The only application, in my opinion, that works really well for the VOIP and the Chat as MSN, Skype, Twitter, etc. Gtalk. Fring is! It works very well on Diamond, also used on the P3600 and have always been happy.
I hope to be state aid.
Ask your mobile phone provider. I think he will tell you that they block some ports and you cant use voip over 3g.

No, VoIP works using Fring so it can't be this. But the quality of VoIP using Fring is not very good and all the others applications I have tried so far don't work properly (GoSIP, Skype, SJphone, Wengophone).

WM 6.1 Build 20721 voip support - CAB on page 1 solves GPS problem

Hello chefs and others,
I'm looking for voip support from wm6.1 build 20721, meaning these 3 files (AFAIR): dnsapi.dll, voipphonecanvas.dll and rtcdll.dll.
Tried a few roms so far and neither of them supported voip, and i need it for my SIP
Tried to install various voip cabs (win6voip.cab, destr0_VOIP_WM61__SIP_Config_1.1.cab), but they all kill my gps.
There are some threads about this but non of them gave me an answer.
I hope you can help me. I don't want to choose between SIP and GPS.

When you say it kills your GPS what do you mean??? Just installing the cab or actually using it at the same time??
I use VOIP all the time and I haven´t noticed any problems with my TomTom although I never have them running at the same time
I mean just installing the cab causes the gps to be dead. It's not seen by any app. HTC_GPS_Tool doesn't show any NMEA frames, GPS Test pauses detecting gps on the port on which the gps should be.
I don´t have this problem and I use VOIP everyday.... so try my cab and let me know.
The only problem I have is the sound doesn´t come thru the internal speaker... but hey I´ve had this problem with Kaiser, Polaris and now Diamond so I´m used to it . The only device I had it working with the internal speaker was the Hermes.
Interesting
With standart win6voip.cab i had the sound through internal speaker. The SIP worked fine... only the gps was dead.
Will try your cab in a sec
I wonder if this matters that I use a never windows build... it could matter IMVHO...will see
Seems to solve the problem for me
Though I have the same problem with the sound coming out of the externat speeker, but I can live wih that
PS: in sip conf tool i can't set the registry entry saying i want to use sip on 3g as well, but that doesn't seem to matter because sip works on 3g anyways
PS2: found a neet tweak to keep wifi connection on while the device is off. This way I can receive SIP calls like ordinary calls - I love it
Thank you all for help - hopefully we can fix the speaker problem some day.

UNLOCKING VoIP SIP Capabilities on Windows Mobile 6.1 XPERIA kills GPS
Regarding: iGO8 problems on XPERIA and WINDOWS MOBILE 6 PDAs and SMARTPHONES.
Anybody who unlocks the SIP VoIP capabilities of Windows Mobile 6.1 on an XPERIA X1 phone and wonders why GPS doesn’t work anymore – here’s your solution.
1) If you’ve already done so and now have a dead GPS hard reset your phone. All your data will be lost.
2) Use christonge’s CAB for unlocking VoIP SIP on WM 6.1, which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422038 (Thank you christonge, saved my day!!!)

I can dial normally, the phone of my partner rings, but I can't hear anything. The phone recognizes, that my partner picked up the phone and starts the clock. When I speak, my partner can hear me, but not in the other direction. I can't hear anything.

When configuring skype, just add some credit to your account.
Then, connect your mobile number to your account.
When sending sms, or making calls with your skype account, people see your real mobile number, instead of nothing..
Most of the landline calls are not much expensive.
With skype i can make good calls, even on 3g!
"not even they dont have an PC laptop etc. Skype I have as well for the younger generation "
using skypeOut you can call any landline phone / cellphone from skype
it's not required that the person have skype or the computer turned on
or even owning a computer
Don't know if the issue already has been solved, but me too was looking for a voip solution, other than skype, simply because some of the voips offer free calling to landlines in about 90 countries for just 10 euro for 90 days and so on, plus making calls to vietnam only cost me 0,027 ct a minute, yes 2,5 ct a minute, while skype or other voip are much more expensive. Skype is great, if all my friends and relatives are on skype too.... unfortunately...
Anyway, how i set up my device for voip (i'm on rom valkyrie firestorm 2.8.5 leo, pretty good, but still a bit buggy, not the ideal rom to test on, but it works.
1 install: destr0_VOIP_WM61___SIP_Config_1.1
2 install: WM6VoIP (don't know why actually, but i simply followed instructons from another website, you can try and leave this option out)
3 install: VOIP Drivers (don't know why actually, but i simply followed instructons from another website, you can try and leave this option out)
4 extract idialplan to windows directory on yourdevice, thus not your pc windows dir.
5 install: Audioroute, this did the trick for me, as i could not hear the other party, i installed this app and everytime i want to make a voip call, i'll use this app to route the sound to the earpiece, and it worked for me
Configuring voip.
After you have installed everything you wanted to install, soft reset your device.
When restarted, you'll see an extra line on your today screen (disable tf3d for the moment) tap on it will bring you to the phone menu, where an extra tab is added for internetcalling, configure as you wish.
Next, in startmenu, open the application sip config tool, and enter the details of your voip service. Don't worry that there is so less info to fill in, i was surprised too, but it only needs username an pw and server and port, that's ll.
By installing audioroute, you'll see an icon next to startbutton, pressing it wil allow you to route the audio the earpiece, or switch back to normal again.
Note: when the line on the today screen says that the service has been selected, all calls will be automatically made trough voip, and if it says unavailable or something else, then it will most propably make regular calls.
Try it, it may not work the first time, try soft reset and try it again.
Hope i could help you out.
Do I understand correctly that this lets you call a landline for free? Since you mentioned that Skype, et al. were more expensive than landline to landline (0.0027 cents a minute).

Ok ... you're lucky i spent one whole day to figure out the best for the windows mobile native sip and here is the easiest way to have it
1. Download and install http://anonym.to/?http://www.minitelecom.org/downloads/images/voip/WM6VoIPFull.cab
this packages is the LATEST package of native windows mobile sip and installs drivers sip configuring utility ... from the configuring utility u can choose also to make calls over 3g.
2. download and install audioroute http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/mirror/audioroute_1.2.020.cab
this is freeware to route the audio through your internal speaker
after this go to settings ->phone->internet and choose always when available.
Good luck
Youre done....

if you register at 12voip.com, and you buy credits worth 10 euro's you can call selected landlines for free for up to 90 days, afer 90 days, top up with another 10 euro;'s and you are good to go for another 90 days.
Please do look if your country or desired destination is on the call for free list.
@ Informatico: Does GPS still work after this??
Thx

I have a question , how to make calls via it?
Like after enabling 3G and enable SIP Plan, how i can make calls now?
Like if i dial a number it will automatically be a SIP call?

If you enable the today plugin, go to settings>today>choose internet calling, on the today screen it'll say either: service not available(wich means is not available and you might not have the settings correct), or available(wich means it's available but not in use yet), or selected, wich means, voip/sip calling is selected and every call or sms will be made through sip. At least, that was in my case, what was a bit annoying because I didn't want every single call i made was trough voip, only the landlines because i can call it for free, so i searched for a softphone and found one wich is an application that let's you make voip calls only within that application, so you could still make regular calls without the hassle of the previous mentioned option. though the latter is not free, but it's name is 'AGEphone Mobile".
I installed it, VoIP works fine but my GPS doesn't work anymore, don't no why.
Any Ideas to fix this problem so that i can use both VoIP and GPS??

well, that's pretty odd then... my gps works just fine, no problems at all. Do you have programs installed to fine tune your device? did this only occur since you've been using voip?
Til yesterday it worked....
But after I had installed the cab it was dead.
I use XperiaTweak I don't know if that coul be the reason for my problem?
i don't use xperia tweak, so i don't know if that;s the probem, though it would be very strange if that gave problems, but have you tweaked som gps settings or agps settings? your gps doesn't work at all anymore, not a iny tiny bit?
i suggest try to save your xperia tweak profile, if it can be done, then revert to default settings and try gps again, otherwise, i don't know. If i were you i hard reset it, but that's just me, since i flash my device often.
