problem !! - Shift Development

hi
I just buy my shift
it works fine but really i want to unlock WM to download cab files
i read lots of threads here but unfortunately I couldn't apply it
simply because the trick couldn't work for me which is as example
:::
"insert" -> "picture". This allows you to browse for pictures and it's the closet thing we have to a file manager at the moment. Navigate to the Windows directory, then the Start Menu (in the Windows directory) and highlight the Programs folder if it isn't already. Hit Control-C on the keyboard to copy it. Navigate back up to Windows/Settings and press Control-V to paste
:::
the problem here :
that my shift doesn't accept the copy and paste i hear sound which indicate that the action is nit allowed
so what is the problem ?
why i cant copy and paste ?
pleeeeze really i need to unlock my shift?

How do I run a program in Pocket PC

Ok, I am going to ask a dumb question here. Please don't make fun of me.
I am trying to get through this country code problem so I can upgrade my PDA2K. I have copied GetDeviceData.exe to my device (drag-and-dropped it there from my PC). Now - how the heck to I run the thing?
See, I told you it was a stupid question!
Re
Dear,
You have to use File Explorer to locate the folder in which you dropped the program and then double click it. If you wanna make shortcut to that, do the following
- Copy the file
- go to windows directory in your ppc and spot for start menu and then double click for program folder, then paste (paste as shortcut) the program in that folder
now you should be able to execute the program directly from your program screen

how to ...

hi all
I'm sorry for asking this questions but i did a search and could not find any answer...
i have a Tytn 2 and I'm new to all this wm6 os, I've been trying to install SCLPC___0-04__WM05___WM06_ but i haven't been able to
could anyone please tell me how to install CAB files ?
thanks in advance
and sorry about the question
H
Cab files are relatively easy to install. Using an Activesync connection, hit Explore on the Activesync window and that will open up a window of your device. Click on MyWindowsMobile Device (or something like that). This is a view of the 'root' directory on your device.
Copy (drag and drop is easiest) from the desktop location to the window showing the 'root' of your device. Now, the CAB should be on your TyTN II.
(You can disconnect the Activesync connection now, if you want).
On the TyTN II, open up File Explorer and go to the root directory of your device (normally, this is the one it opens up on.).
Locate the CAB file you copied over, then double-tap it to execute it. Then follow any directions given. That's it!

Ok, use file explorer. Select the cab and run it.
i think i didnt explain myself properly ...

Both your question and the answers were clear enough.
Once you have copied the cab onto your device, use the built in File explorer on the TyTN2 to find the cab file. Then just double click on it, the same as you would to open a Word file for example. Then just follow any on-screen instructions/requests. Simple as....

[Question]How to make a link to a .exe

I have a question
I have the game "Worms" on my device. To specify it's on my storage card.
Today I made a hard reset.
Now I want to make a link to the .exe from Worms. Cause now I hae to go through file-explorer and I want it like it was before the hard reset. There was a link in my games folder before the hard reset under programs...
How can I do this again ?
resco file explorer is your friend
Sorry, but I don't unsterstand this....
It is being suggested you download and install Resco Explorer a pay-for app that does have a free trial. Resco allows you to Click/Hold an .exe file and Send To a StartMenu shortcut which are trying to do.
You can do it the hard way with Notepad but it is a pain.

Total Commander, I think will do it too, but I own Resco and am familiar with it. It is FREE.
Hi
If you use Resco File explorer you can create shortcut to any exe file.it wil be placed to your start menu.but you can do it manualy too.without useing Resco FE.
1. Open Notepad
2. Place the entire path to the file in the first line of the file, including the .exe file. You must use quotation marks if it resides in a directory with spaces, such as “\Program Files.”
3. Count the number of characters in the command line, including spaces and quotes, to get the length of the string.
4. In the .lnk file, the format for the line is
<length of string>#<command line>
5. Save the file and copy it to the "\Windows\Start Menu" directory on the Windows CE or Pocket PC device. This places the shortcut at the top level of the Start Menu.
You don't need a 3rd-party explorer or notepad. Creating shortcuts is very simple using the built-in file explorer.
Step 1: Start file explorer.
Step 2: Navigate to the folder the EXE is in.
Step 3: Highlight the EXE.
Step 4: Copy the EXE to the clipboard (Menu | Edit | Copy).
Step 5: Navigate to the start menu folder you want the shortcut in (typically \Windows\Start Menu\Programs).
Step 6: Paste a shortcut to the EXE (Menu | Edit | Paste Shortcut).
Step 7: Rename the shortcut if desired.
The shortcut will now be in start menu programs. You can now move it to and from the top-level start menu using Start | Settings | Menus.

First of all thanks to everyone for posting...
But I have one question....what do you mean with "highlight the EXE?"
I hope you can help me ^^
But I have one question....what do you mean with "highlight the EXE?"
Click to collapse
When you navigate to a folder in File Explorer, the first file in the folder is highlighted (selected). Highlight the the executable file to which you need a start menu shortcut, either using d-pad down, or tap-n-hold with the stylus. This will be the file copied to the clipboard in step #4.
Note: I use the term "highlight" rather than "select" because selecting the file implies tapping on it, which will open the application. You don't want to start the application.

Do a search. There are many tutorials that can walk you through this.

Move icons in 6.5 start menu

I searched couldn't find anything. I want to know if it is possible to put the programs I install into folders in the honeycomb menu, for example put Corplayer in Multimedia. BTW I have energyrom 3.0 build 051209 but that shouldnt be hat important.
yes it is possible, use a file manager such as Total Commander or maybe even just File Explorer goto you program files folder and create a shortcut of the .exe that loads CorePlayer and then move that shortcut into \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Multimedia and then your shortcut will be visible you don't even have to soft reset
ok thanks man
dont mean to be dumb, but when I use file explorer to cut and paste shortcuts in new folders, they appear in the folder and on the start menu. How do I fix that?

Question regarding Total Commander...

Ok, I've searched and searched and searched and keep coming up short.
I'd like to make shortcuts to program that I've copied from my computer to my SD card. I've tried creating shortcut with Total Commander, but the shortcut is not appearing. What am I doing wrong?
Is it also possible to move a shortcut to another folder? I've installed a game that didn't place the shortcut in the games folder and I'd like to move it to where it belongs.
It's working fine here. Maybe your version of TC os corrupted? I never use it though, I prefer Resco Explorer.
Anyway, you can make shortcuts and place the:m wherever you want. For example, sometimes games install in "Programs" not in "Games" or show no shortcuts at all. I just make a new shortcut or cut the existing one, browse to windows/start menu/programs/games and paste the shortcut there.
u dont need total commander to make a shortcut.
with windows explorer:
if u go to your program files or what ever u want to make a shortcut to and on the .exe file (if its a app) press copy. u can then have a choice to copy the .exe file or make a shortcut where ever u want.
if u want them in your programs menu, after u have copied the .exe file go to windows/startmenu/programs and paste here, also from here u can also paste it the games or any other folder.
Thank you for the quick help. I was failing to go to the windows directory, instead I was going straight to the programs directory. It works now. Your guys' help is much appreciated. Thank you again.
