What I did to get WM61 and the new radio installed with no sd card..... - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

After searching for hours on all the files, procedures, etc. on the subject, here's a quick guide for the n00b's out there that want to do this... Some information i will be repeating from other places on the internet.
----------------------------------
The following Files are needed (search the forums and google to locate)
1. CheetahUnlocker.rar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334100)
2. Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar
3. Treo750Radio1.54.07.00.rar
4. RUUWrapper.zip
OK.. Now here we go
unrar the first file 'cheetahunlocker' and basically follow the instructions from the above #1 link. Two things to note: Ignore any images for Hermes and you must have .net 2.0 framework installed on the device.
when you run the unlocker, the first one worked fine for me, the second process didn't work, but that doesn't matter. also watch the screen for the unit to ask you about opening files. if you don't do it, it can time out and then you'll have to start over.
Now here is the fun part.
1. Unzip the RUUwrapper file to it's own folder.
2. unrar the CHEEIMG.nbh file from Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar into the same directory of the RUUwrapper files
3. rename the CHEEIMG.nbh file to CHEEIMG_FW.nbh
4. run the RUUWrapper.exe file and it will flash the rom of the unit to WM61. **remember to watch the screen for prompting of opening files at the beginning.
5. Done with WM61. Now for the radio update. It's basically the same process as above.
6. unrar the CHEEIMG.nbh file from Treo750Radio1.54.07.00.rar and put it into the RUUwrapper directory like before.
7. rename the CHEEIMG.nbh file to CHEEIMG_FW.nbh (delete the old one first)
8. Run the RUUwapper.exe file again to flash (this time) the radio to the unit. **remember to watch the screen for prompting of opening files at the beginning.
9. All Done.
----------------------
It worked fine for me with the Treo 750 and the AT&T network..
Main places i got information from were:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365873&page=9
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334100

Your method above just helped me escape a bootloader loop which was (apparently created) by trying to load a different custom rom after having installed hardSPL. The only precautionary measure I took was to place only one image (the same OS & Radio you used) into the RUUWrapper folder at a time and it loaded right up. Still checking and testing some things out because the bootup isn't exactly smooth as silk, and the old "TREO750-1.13-CNG" still shows up under About->Phone->Software Version, but all firmware references reflect the updates. MTTY was ineffective in my particular situation.
Now for testing the radio for reliability and battery drain,etc...
Thanks for the heads-up!

Witch one is the correct selection (see attachment)

Anybody? at least tell me where I can find information about RUUWrapper.
Well I clicked Force use safe SSPL and clicked through and I got a error message saying that it could not communicate with the 750 Error 246 check usb connection?
I read that Vista had some issues with usb connections and to download and use VistaRUU usb drivers, I installed it according to the description, still error 246 and sometimes error 202?
Any ideas?

honestly i don't remember seeing that screen you are getting. it looks like the software isn't detecting the rom you have on your phone, in which case i would use the autodetect.

Hello Eric,
If I use autodetect it says it can not detect what version I'm using "Recomend using Safe SSPL"

This was the ONLY process that worked for me. However, I did not use the Cheetah unlocker, it is unfriendly with my Vista USB connection. I used magic unlocker and then your instructions and now I running on WM 6.1..
Thanks.. great work!!

I wonder - do you have Voice Command anymore?
Just curious - I lost Voice Command when I did this upgrade. Sure, the OS runs nice, seems a little faster, but I sure do miss Voice command. I am running AT&T's Treo 750, which had Voice Command on it. Some people, on some websites, like TreoCentral said there was a 'lite' version, which did not have Voice Command, but I installed this version: Treo750_OS5_2_19199WWE_STD.rar, and that seems like the right one.
So, I wonder - do you have Voice Command anymore?

As I know it is the normal version's bug (missing the voice command).

I completed set 1, no success!
When u say add to directory what do you mean?

missing the voice command? Oh my...

This is great and it worked for me so I'm including the files here.
WM 6.1 does have some things that need to be debuged.
I havent tried WM 6.0 but from what I read on here it seems that 6.0 is more stable.
Does any one know if this route will work for WM 6.0?
If so does any one know which file do you download?
Will this set up work with WM 6.0?
http://omnifusionhosting.net/treo750/
http://forum.ppcwarez.org/viewtopic.php?f=221&t=41062

Well, WM6.0 is more stable, for one thing I had a faster battery drain with WM6.1 than I did with 6.0.
As mentioned earlier, some missing stuff like voice command, but one thing I thought wouldn't be there was messaging. For some reason that Messaging is half annoying me.
While I'm at it, anyone know how to backup SMS messages? That Messaging app is just keeping them to itself.

A Herald's Guide to Flashing Aserg, USPL and HARD-SPL

Welcome Herald users. I'm sure that by now you have seen people talk of ROMs and have seen the screenshots to some exciting things. Today we will discussing what these ROMs are, the formats they come in, and finally how to flash them into your phone. I'll be providing screenshots later.

I: What is a ROM?
ROMs:
A ROM is a custom made version of the phone's Firmware. Think of it as a cutomised version of windows, with updates, changes and programs that you want with none of the stuff that the providers force down your throat. Usually, these ROMs are much faster.
Click here for more info. This thread does not have an updated list of ROMs but it gives you a little more "welcome" info.
Types of ROMs:
There are two formats that you can find ROMs in:
1. NBH
2. os.nb
The NBH is a file that flashes similarly to the official ROM as it is in the same exact format. The os.nb files are used in a "backdoor" in order to flash the phone when you don't have the ability to flash an NBH file. I'll explain why.
An NBH file has to be digitally signed by your provider in order for you to be able to flash it into your device. Luckily enough, some very smart people here have figured out a way to use a hacked bootloader to bypass this and allow us to flash these NBH files even if they aren't properly signed. More on this later.

Definitions you NEED to know.
RAR: A rar file is a compressed file. It can contain many other files. We use them because they make the files much smaller when you want to send them over the internet.
ZIP: A zip file is just like the above.
Guest Mode: What do you mean by GUEST MODE? Guest mode in Activesync is when you do not have the device paired with your computer. You plug it in and it asks you to setup a sync instead of syncing automatically.
Programs you need.
WinRAR, 7-ZIP or another program able to handle both RAR and ZIP files.
ActiveSync if you have WindowsXP.
Enough learning, let's go ahead and dive into our first flash.

Warning: Follow these steps. All of them. If you do, it will work. If you misread or miss a step or skip a step because you are hurrying through the process, it WILL brick your phone. Flashing is a relatively simple process but it requires patience. If you don't have the time to read all of the directions and follow them to the letter, you DO NOT HAVE TIME TO FLASH.
__________________________________
II. How do I flash an NBH file?
Warning: To use the NBH ways, you MUST have a SPL of 4.0 or higher. If you have a lower SPL, you WILL brick your phone.
a. USPL
Step 1. Download Herald-USPL-Beta3.
Step 2. UnZIP the file into a folder on your Desktop. Let's call it "MyFirstROM" for simplicity's sake. Notice that there is a folder called RUU within this folder now. Keep that in mind.
Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into that RUU folder. Make sure that that NBH file ends up in the RUU folder, not within a folder inside the RUU folder.
Step 4. Place your phone into flightmode.
Step 5. Go back to the MyFirstROM folder and then run USPL.exe
Step 6. Follow the directions on the screen. EXACTLY.
Your screen on your cell phone will go white around the 75% part of the "second step" now.
ActiveSync will LOOSE its connection.
Step 7. One step 3 on that black window, the RUU flasher will pop up. Just follow the steps.
That's it. Welcome to the flasher's world.
b. HardSPL
If the ROM comes with JUST an NBH file, then follow these directions. If the ROM comes with all the flasher files, just skip run the program.
Step 1. Download the RUU.
Step 2. UnZIP the file into a folder on your Desktop. Let's call it "MyFirstROM" for simplicity's sake.
Step 3. Download your NBH file and unZIP or unRAR it into the RUU folder.
Step 4. Run the RUU flasher. Follow the steps that pop up on the screen.
III. How do I flash a os.nb file?
Step 1. Copy Aserg's Policies unto the phone.
Step 2. Run Aserg's Policies from within the phone.
Step 3. POWER CYCLE the phone. (Press and hold the power button, NOT the softreset button.)
Step 4. Place the phone into flight mode (or just kill the phone radio within your comm manager if you're using the stock comm manager.) Do this AFTER you have power cycled the mode. NOT before. Sometimes it reverts back to normal if you do it before you power cycle.
Step 5. Run the !Upgrade_rom.bat.
Wait, do NOT press ANYTHING on the phone, even that error that WILL pop up.
When it tells you it's done, if it doesn't give you any errors:
Step 6. Hard reset by holding the two soft keys and pressing the softreset key, then pressing the send key.
These are the directions. Follow them to a "t" and it WILL work if you're using a ROM that corresponds to your device.
If you missed a step, use my Official How to Unbrick a Phone thread to unbrick your phone.
If you have any questions, you did not read the directions well enough. Read them again. Breathe them. See them in your sleep.
If you still think you have a valid question, then ask away. I will be merciful... as long as you read the directions. lol
IV. FAQ:
Q: My !Upgrade_rom.bat runs REALLLLY quickly and I get errors.
A: The problem is in the computer. Make sure you have ALL the files you need in the folder, not just the batch file and the os.nb. Make sure you're not running it from WITHIN the compressed "folder." I'll write up a list of files needed later.
V. Mirror:
USPL
HardSPL RUU (contains only RUU for flashing AFTER Hard-SPL)
Please do not reply to this post.
Thanks for writing.
I will stick this and close the thread in order to keep it clean!
If someone doesn´t understand it - even after reading this all - please start a new thread.
And again some hints:
1. Read ALL threads from the beginning!
2. Don´t ask in RomRelease threads how to "Hard-SPL" or "How to..."
-- Please keep Rom release threads clean for question related to the ROM.
Thanks
Daniel

Trouble with ROM cooking

(First post and not really good english)
One week after i bought my phone (HTC P4350, unbranded) i discovered this site/forum. A very usefull site, i learned much.
Now i am going to try to build my own rom. Based on this howto. (not Vista, but XP Professional)
(WM6: All WM6/WM6.1 ROMS --> All Official HTC Roms --> WWE version)
first i followed the howto without modifications to SYS and OEM to test if everything was working. result: as expected, a working phone.
next step was to remove some folder from SYS.
first try: remove 'windows update' (AUTOUPDATE, Autoupdate_Lang_0409)
flashed to phone, result: Start->Settings->Tab System->Windows Update fully functional, so it is not removed at al,
second try:
restored AUTOUPDATE, Autoupdate_Lang_0409
removed INTERNETSHARING
flashed to phone, result: Start->Programs->Internet Sharing, functional for so far i could test (no internet on phone, sim in other phone), but IntShrUI.exe was available in \Windows
Troubleshooting/Guesses about what went wrong
- Am i deleting stuf in the right directory (C:\Core\Hypercore\Build\SYS)
- Can i continue working in the kitchen after i flashed one time, or should i delete c:\core and start al over again by every modification?
after some houres searching on google and this site i did not found the solution or anyone with a problem like this.
i am doing something wrong, but do not know what.
'Met vriendelijke groet' (Greetings)
Robin
You're doing fine. Not sure why you would still have functioning parts after removing them... you took them off the SYS folder and place them where? (Somewhere NOT in the build folder.)
no, not in the build folder, i put a 'backup'/'copy' in a subfolder of 'my documents'
so i don't think that is the problem
edit:
i carefully read the howto for x time again and know i am wondering if (as below, quote) also goes for SYS folder, find everything with 'intshrui.exe', 'internet sharing', 'autoupdate', 'autoupdate.exe', etc
Add the oem packages into the oem folder. Total commander and networkwzard don’t require removal off default files from the oem folder, but comm. Manager do, and so do htc home. The way I use to find duplicate files, is before I add the oem packages, I open in.ex the new package with comm manager, and I highlight the OEM folder and rightclick and choose searchtab. Search for files, type in search “comm.” And all files containing the word “comm.” Will be displayed, dele them (make sure they belong to comm manager, that the names matches the one in your package)
When you have searched for all files in your package, and deleted them from the OEM folder, you can add you package.
Follow same steps for all packages you add, that can have duplicate files, if you don’t you will get error when building the rom, and the build process will terminate, tell you what file is duplicate. You must then find the file, and remove it (don’t remove the one in your new package)

You did it correctly... I wonder if it's really building the ROM or just flashing what's already in there...
I would offer that you use my kitchen, but I think you would definitively keep trying at the HyperCore because it sounds like you might be one of the next generation of cooks. My kitchen is more for the average person who doesn't want to or have the time to learn how to cook but wants their own custom ROM.
what i want for now i a rom with the software i 'need' of like.
i will give your kitchen a try, this link right?
but i don't give up with HyperCore because it should work. if other can do it, i can do it (i think)

I'll be uploading Beta 2 soon with a LOT of fixes, you might want to wait until then. Any packages that you'd like to see there before I start uploading?
most packages that i need are in the list.
Basis apps like Office, audio manager are there, same goes for tools.
Your kitchen works easy. Nice work.
With the current release (downloaded at +/- 20:00 GMT+1) has some errors while building. Such as 'the file 'temp\dump\winlive.htm' already exists'.
i think i can handle those error my self, isn't it?

the double in \tem\ is not important... but there msut be a double in one of the sys or oem folders. try to search them and delete one of them....
Exactly. Do a search for the OEM and SYS folder for the files in question and delete the duplicate. All these errors have been fixed in the Beta 2, but I haven't had time to upload them, yet. (Tried last night but the connection went out half way through it.)
On a brighter note, I'm slowly buying all the parts I need this week to finally rebuild my computer!! (For those that have been here long enough to know my PC fried and I've been working off my ancient laptop for a while.)
when you have uploaded beta2 i will give it a try
good luck with (re)building your pc
i think i know what went wrong..
When starting Hypercore\Panel\Build\BuildOS there are for me 3 options
1. Start "Build OS"
2. Create OS.nb from Sys and OEM
4. Flash
The first time (without changes to SYS and OEM) i copied OS.nb to HyperCore\Tools\RUU for flashing my phone.
By the second test with changes to SYS and OEM i started BuilOS, followed all 3 steps but did not copy OS.nb to HyperCore\Tools\RUU so the first ROM is flashed again, and not my modified ROM
I will now give it another try and will let know the result. But i'm pretty sure this was the problem.
Thanks already for trying to help me.
That would DEFINITIVELY be a problem. lol
After you run 1, then 2, the os.nb will be at the build folder after.
Still some trouble
here i am again.
i don't know if i should start a new thread or go further with this one.
After i removed some software, i am now trying to add software (oem packages). As source i have some cab files. They have to be converted to an oem package, (i read, found on this forum). So i tried to.
Reading and applying this one, and this one BuildOS make trouble.
An messagebox appears with 'Data Exception' and in the bottom (status) is says
[ Error, Last status: "Processing: OEM\OEMAPPS... Searching for dsm file" ]
I tried also with an OEM Package (PocketRAR) downloaded from here.
It keeps saying the same error.
Who can help me?
if you need more information you can ask me for it.

Simple instructions for getting POINTUI installed on XDA11i

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Simple instructions for installing the POINTUI program onto my XDA11i .
Thank you.
The recommended way is to install the WM5 cab and then copy the files for the WM2003 version over the WM ones installed on Program files pointui home 1.02b, that way you get registry entries and things are in their correct places.
Thanks for the reply BUT I am a complete novice in these matters - as such I have NO IDEA what you just said
Thanks anyway though !!
I got to this stage but not sure what to do ..
http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx
OK I am useless at all this technical stuff .
All the other programs I managed to get on my XDA11i were simple to install .
I downloaded a file anf clicked to run then they loaded automatically onto my XDA.
IS there a similar method for the POINTUI program .... PLEEEEEEASE
Sadly not for WM2003 but you are nearly there, I put a step by step on the other link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=374360&page=2 persevere it is worth it. You only need to copy some files over the ones installed by the cab file
Hope this tutorial could help you
1. Download CAB Installer from Pointui website then copy the file to your PDA
2. Click the file on your PDA to install it
3. Download this file http://www.pointui.com/files/tests/1...me.ppc2003.zip
4. Double click that zip file and extract to \Program Files\PointUI\Home\1.02b\ ( It's at your PDA directory )
5. It will ask to overwrite and just answer Yes.
6. Click on file name Home to run the application.
To make it run automatically when you soft reset the device you need to create shortcut to Startup folder
1. Copy filename Home and paste shortcut to \Windows\Startup\ ( PDA Directory )
2. Done
p/s: Its based on robsno step. Thanks
Thanks very much for your time and effort .
Sadly I will have to wait a whil longer as I am not technical enough to follow your insructions.
As I mentioned previously - All the other programs I managed to get on my XDA11i were simple to install .
I downloaded a file and clicked to run then they loaded automatically onto my XDA.
IS there a similar method for the POINTUI program YET ??
Guess not !!??

1. Make sure your Treo 750 is Hard-SPL (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334100). This would allow you to install any ROM, including cooked ROMs found in this forum.
2. Download the Generic Treo 750 WM6 ROM here: http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.palm.com/Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater.zip
3. Extract the updater into a folder of your choice. There are two levels of unpacking.
4. Search for the CHEEIMG_FW.nbh file in the final extracted folder.
5. Put the abovementioned ROM image file into a clean FAT32 formatted mini-SD card. Rename it to CHEEIMG.nbh.
6. Insert the now populated mini-SD card into the mini-SD card slot of the Treo 750.
7. Press and hold the side media button & at the same time, use the stylus to press the reset switch. You will see the tri-color bootloader screen momentarily followed by Loading...
8. Next, you'll see a light blue screen with the heading CHEEIMG.nhb followed by a few other entries below it. The instructions at the bottom of the screen says to press the power button to continue. Go ahead & press the End Call/Power button to start the ROM flashing.
9. The ROM flashing takes about 15 mins. When it is completed, the bottom of the screen will say Update successful and the entries above with the OK appended at the end.
10. Reset the Treo 750 with the stylus & immediately perform a Hard Reset. This is accomplished by pressing and holding the End Call/Power button and simultaneously resetting the Treo 750. When prompted to Erase all data, release all the previously held keys and press the Up key of the D-Pad.
11. Once the formatting of the RAM has completed, the Treo 750 will continue to bootup & you will go through the standard startup wizard for setting up your Treo 750 for the first time.
Everything else should proceed as per normal.
I'm writing this from memory because I've just unbranded my AT&T Treo 750 & am now on WM6.1 Professional.
Please perform the abovementioned steps at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any damage that might result from the procedure.
All the best!
thks, i tried this and post later
thks again

I tried this method and I had the same problem as you.Try this method.
1. Download the official unbranded bits here:
http://palmone.r3h.net/downloads.pal...topUpdater.zip
2. Extract the EXE file that is in the zip file (give it a specific folder to extract to, the zip file uses a funky folder name).
3. Run the EXE file, but stop when the gui pops up.
4. At the first screen, navigate to c:\Documents and Settings\your username\Local Settings\temp, then inside the temp folder you will see a palm folder, and a folder with some random numbers and letters like PQa02356.
5. Enter the installer temp directory
8. right click payloads.xml file and select edit with notepad
9.Replace the RWE carrier text with ATT if your phone was from ATT, then
Replace the high 1.16 version with 2.27
11.After you have made the necessary changes click on file-save as, then save it back into the same file as it was originally in, and save as (all files)
if you save it as a text file it won't work.It must be saved as payloads.xml
with the xml attributes.
12. Go back to the installer screen and continue with installation
13. You must complete the installation successfully, if it fails, rerun the whole process. If it isn't successful, the flash ROM isn't "closed" and you won't see the new version numbers updated, and what not else as well.
Ta daaaaa and it runs HSDPA !!!
It worked great for me. My treo was fairly new with winmo6 version 2.25 with ATT branding, and nobody seemed to have the exact directions that worked for my phone. feel free to pm me if you need any help.
Now I have the unbranded 2.27 version. It works flawlessly

Haret.exe Android Install and Boot from Windows Mobile

*Update: These instructions now seem to be outdated. I will started an updated thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648045
------------
(sorry I tried to post some live links, but the forum won't allow them cause I'm a new user, so this may not be as helpful as I hoped...)
I just spent some hours wading through the forums to find complete instructions for installing the newer android builds using the WM haret.exe linux booter (rather than flashing the entire phone and loosing WM) on my touch Vouge.
I am a bit of a newb, but since I did not find complete instructions, and had to figure some things out using trial and error I thought I would post what I did figure out here in hopes of helping others.
First ignore the install instructions here. sourceforge.net/apps/trac/androidhtc/wiki/HowToInstall . They are old and need to be updated.
Erase all previous android files from your sd card
Go here: sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/
haretinstall.zip
open the zip and place the andboot folder and all its contents on the / directory of your SD card
then download eclair252_androidinstall.zip
unzip eclair252_androidinstall.zip to get androidinstall.tar
copy androidinstall.tar to your sdcard /andboot folder
(unnecessarily steps deleted - see below)
Then on your phone's file explorer run haret.exe from /andboot folder on you sd card
click run and immediately hold the volume switch up as linux boots
the boot menu appears. choose install
if the installation hangs hold volume up again, and choose quit
As I said I'm new at this, so my instructions may be off or misguided. If so please post with corrections. I just know I was looking for a guide like this and couldn't find one so hope this helps someone.

Actually, you just answered my question (which I never posted) about NoRootFS.... Thanks for posting this!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
can you explain what is the benefits of doing it this way compared to the way its always been for me. it was as simple as downloading the sqsh package zip file from my favorite build here. witch included all the files i needed to run anroid. I copied the android folder from the zip file to the root of my sd card and simply ran haret exe. It used to be complicated but not now that most builds include all the basefiles needed for boot. I never had to hold any volume buttons or install anything. i probably look dumb for asking this.

Although I have not yet tried myself because I have a Polaris and WiFi is not yet working, my understanding is that NoMoRootFS makes more space available for the ROM and makes it easier for developers to roll out updates. In the thread for Myn's (most excellent) Warm Donut, there are several themes and updates that can only be applied to Rev2 if you have installed via NoMoRootFS.

I think that this step is not needed. The NBH files were made for flash your phone. If you run Haret is not needed.
Am I right?

correct. with the OP method, the .nbh file is just taking up space. you never need to do anything with a .nbh file if you are using haret. OP, please fix and I will add to my list of FAQs, otherwise very informative. thx.
Help
I can't get this to boot on my Vogue. The black Linux screen pops up & starts running but stops. The last line says...
[ 2.226233] Rebooting in 3 seconds.._
I've followed your instruction to the letter & can't see to get it to work. Anyone have suggestions?

Did you get into the install menu by holding volume up? easiest and quickest way to help you is if you describe exactly what you did - I know it is similar to the OP, but just give a step by step in your own words.
I did all of the steps but linux boot stops at : failed to reach system.img on SD Card...

Did didn't get past the Linux menu. It only ran for about 4 or 5 seconds then locked up. I had to soft reset to get my phone functioning again.
I did exactly what the instructions in the 1st post said to do.
Downloaded andboot file to \storage card\andboot
Downloaded androidinstall.zip & placed in the andboot file
Clicked haret.exe
Selected run while holding up the volume key
I read in the post that the below items were not necessary so I skipped them:then download vogueeclairnbh.zip
unzip vogueeclairnbh.zip to get VOUGIMGx480.NBH
copy VOUGIMGx480.NBH to your sdcard /andboot folder
I'm running stock rom. My carrier is nTelos (CDMA).
I notice that your rom version and radio version are not the latest. You may have to ungrade those before you can get it to run.

always good to have latest radio. i don't know if it will interfere with you booting linux, usually it creates problems with gps or data once you are in android. but who knows, anything is possible I suppose.
list the files that are in /sdcard/andboot/ emmie0702
I've always wanted to update me ROM but there is not a Server cab out there that will give me back my settings for nTelos. Its a small cell network therefore no one has bothered to create one (I really can't blame them). So I've never tried it out of fear of Bricking my phone. For some reason nTelos did not offer WiFi, GPS or MMS with this phone through their network (didn't know that until AFTER I bought it). They have it for other phones but not this one for some reason. That was a little annoying when I 1st got it but I've leaned to live without it. I love my phone even w/o those things. I get pics emailed to me & can email them to other's phone through their carrier address (eg [email protected]). WiFi would be nice but I never use GPS. As far as the Radio. I assume it sort of the same step. I pretty much have to install it & it will wipe out or "Hard Reset" my phone, right...causing me to losing all my network info?
Here are the files I have in the andboot folder:
androidinstall
default
haret
initrd
READE-BASEFILES
zImage
zImage-eclair
** I could not file the "eclair252_androidinstall.zip" file to download so I downloaded the androidinstall.zip under the "2010-01-05" folder from sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/. Could that be the problem or could it be a combination of my Radio/ROM & the androidinstall tar I downloaded?
Thanks for the help guys!
is it androidinstall.zip or androidinstall.tar?

you should be able to update your radio without touching your rom, there is a radio only version of 3.42.50, see the faqs noob guide to flashing, it is in there.
I am unsure what you downloaded; it looks like you have the right basefiles, but if you got androidinstall.zip from 2010-01-05 I don't think it will have anything compatible with the norootfs method, and is probably causing your problem.
delete androidinstall.tar, download this and drop the androidinstall.tar that is inside into your sdcard/andboot/ folder. then run haret and keep holding volume up until you see the install menu. then post back.

OK. Same thing...phone locks up at the same place. I downloaded the file you attached & downloaded the VOGUIMG.nbh file that was linked on PPCGeeks. I followed the instructions on PPCGeeks post "This is the vogue radio 3.42.50 designed for the vogue (this is not the titan port). I removed it directly from the bell rom and recomplied it as a radio only .nbh. This is a radio only rom designed to be flashed from bootloader from sd card and doesn't require a hard reset. Copy VOGUIMG.nbh to root of fat32 micro sd card 2gb or less and place phone in bootloader and it will run."
I still get the same outcome. Both your attachment & the VOGUIMG.nbh file are located \Storage Card\ on my phone. When the Radio instructions say its designed to be flashed from Bootloader what exactly does that mean? Do I need a program for that or is it suppose to start when I Run the default.txt after I select haret in the andboot folder?
the place you got the link to the radio only version also has instructions on how to flash your phone - see the before starting area. short: get into bootloader mode, then flash.
I still think there is something else that you are doing wrong, I just can't put my finger on it right now; i'm hoping others will be able to help.

OK. I figured out how to get it in bootloader mode (power button + camera + soft reset). The Red/Blue/Green screen pops up & then a Grey screen that says "loading...". Its been "loading" for over 5 minutes now. What could be the problem?
