[Q]Will the Diamond Tools work? - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

Hey,
here in germany are the Touch HD sold with a german operating system. As I know from the other htc devices I can change to the www rom for example to have it in english. I hate the bad translated german roms.
Now the big question. Will the Diamond tools work with the Touch HD? Like hardSPL and RUU tool. Would be great. Then I just would have to wait till someone is so nice to rip the english rom and I can put it on my device.
Do you see any other problems?
Thanks!!

I think hardSPL and RUU tools, ROM won't work on HD. Every HTC device has unique SPL, ROM, RADIO. Maybe diamond apps will work.

So I guess we'll see. Thank you anyway..

please no one should try crossflashing like that.
the raphael ROMs do sometimes run on diamond but I only mean the OS, and it has serious issues on a diamond even though it can boot. I wouldn't really want to try an SPL due to the different flash and ram size
and then, this HD is going to be totally different. but at least you reminded us to make a placeholder for hardspl =)

HTC 3600 and Dopod WM6

did someone tried the dopod wm6 rom on an HTC 3600?
Thanks
I did.
Works very well for me. No bug at all. I'm happy with it.
what about the fix time of the GPS?
any changes in speed of the whole system?
and the battery life time?
Thanks

I've upgraded my P3600 to WM6 (Australian ROM)
GPS - First detection is slow IMHO. After that it runs great.
Changes in speed - No changes so far I have noticed, in other words it still runs fast
Battery life - Is great depending on your usage. Just disable your infrared. That alone makes a lot of difference.
Where did you get the image ROM?
What is the difference between DOPOD and HTC Australian ROM?
Thanks

Does it matter where I got it from?.. Or do you want to know where you can get it?..
http://rapidshare.com/files/42337174/D810_ANZ_WM6_Upgrade_20070709.zip
I do not know what and if there is a difference is between DOPOD and HTC Australian ROM.
I just know that the ROM I used didn't have customized DOPOD screenlogo's/programs etc installed AND that I have only one issue since running this ROM but I think it's WM6 related:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=318013
All the OFFICIAL ROMs providing wm6 for trinity, so far, are from Dopod, including the rapidshare link above.
This is why it's called: 'D810' and not HTC P3600 in the link.
You may notice very few Dopod's customization, but it's still a ROM from Dopod, you can see, for instance, some Dopod's ringtones in the alarms and ring lists.
As far as the localized operator settings are concerned, I can't tell, since I did not install their extended ROM, I don't have any either, except for the ring tones I just mentioned before.
Regarding the new ROM performances, I think it has increased a lot from the previous April wm5 release from HTC: faster, better look etc.
The GPS is a little bit faster, but not much faster, but I think it has more to do with the new radio.
For example I could not get any fix with the 1.46.00.01 one from SEA. But it works quite well with the 1.46.20.01, from ANZ.
The most impressive improvement is the wifi connexion, which is stable, and fast. (it was a disaster with previous radios, especially the 1.38.x series.
Just to make myself more clear:
1)
I know all the trinity ROMs are made by HTC. What I meant is not 'made by Dopod' but, branded, designed for Dopod.
2)
I have read here before that wifi has nothing to do with radio but just with the ROM itself. I don't know, but what I can tell is that, the previous wm5 plus 1.38/1.41 radio series had always given me poor wifi performance.
But wm6 with 1.46. series is perfect in terms of wifi perfs.
At last do you think that flashing with an official ROM (Asian or Australian doesn't matter) i will not have any king of strange problem like with the wm6 coocked roms?
I want wm6 but i want all the features work on the device too.
Thanks for your patience, but i'm going to buy my HTC p3600 nad i will do only if i can have a perfectly working WM6 device with working GPS.
Thanks

Since there are no garantees there is a choice to be made. The P3600 is still unique in his features. It's the ONLY Window Mobile based PDA with 3G enabled and GPS onboard.
And what you do want to consider is that even if HTC releases a WM6 for Europe, there are no garantees that the ROM won't have any flauds.
Exactly, there is never 100% garantee to be fully satisfied and get no default or bug. This is why the reseller is there to offer you a one year garantee, so if you fancy the specs of the device go for it.
I don't want to start any debate about which programmers have more skills and more time to do proper job.
Individual ROM cooks are amazing and none of us will ever reach their skill levels, and they do it for free, just for the pleasure of sharing with us, so we owe them the greatest respect for that.
But obviously , after having tried both, I confirm that there are less conflicts and bugs in the official ROM than in the cooked ones.
Also because they take more risks by adapting applications that where not designed for the device (ex: touchflo and kaiser interfaces in trinity)
But I do believe that new cooked ROM from now on will be far more reliable than they were in before (wm6 ones), mainly because they now have a stable basis (the official dopod release) to make their own developments on.
So the difference might be slighter and slighter in those respects.

Does this ROM update go as easy as the GPS unlock update?
I've done ROM updates that made you go through several activities and I just screw them up.
I'm looking for the simple version.
Jerry
Tried this and no luck
I have an HTC branded and unlocked P3600
I got this error:
Error 294 - Invalid Vendor ID
This update utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone.
Ideas?
No, it is not as easy as the GPS update ROM, and cannot be compare as you just experienced it because:
- it's not a HTC release, it's a DOPOD release, aiming at Dopod D810 clients, from South-east Asia and Australia-New-zealand.
- the ROM is heavy protected by its SPL to not install onto other CID devices.
- The previous Hard-spl crack doesn't work anymore and if you try to install it: luckily u'll get an error it will refuse to install, unluckily, it will get stuck in the middle of the install and you might even brick your device.
That's why you could not manage to install it. There are plenty of topics over this issue on this forum, you can try one of those workarounds, but take all responsibility if something unlucky happens during the upgrade process.
By the way: SIM unlocked, doesn't mean CID unlock, you can install any SIM card you want from any provider, but your phone's CID still belong to a language, a geographical area, and a manufacturer, which is HTC, not DOPOD ;-)

no chance without spl bla bla stuff?
i just want to excute and install :-(
that is it..
read the link I gave you. it is very simple.
copy this file to your pocketpc and execute it! works in 10seconds..
I clearly should do more reading before attempting this
Well, from you link, i can see that the boot unlocker works but i can't get back to my device because it's stuck in a boot loader rainbow screen.
How do i get it back to the OS?
I told you so...
1)
Don't think it's easy and simple, every one got different skills and experience and you don't help the noobies by saying "flashing a SPL protected ROM is 'easy and simple, just use your brain'...
Better being warned of the worst, if you want to do your best...
2)
There is a sticky thread in this forum about 'how to unbrick or unstuck you phone after having failed to flash the Dopod's ROM.
Read it CAREFULLY and try it out.
3)
Next time you try, use Olibro SPL or, more simple and safe for beginners, try to flash a ROM without SPL/IPL.

can you give more info on where you're stuck? (what is shown on bootloader screen). i'm assuming you've tried a soft reset to exit bootloader...
it's not that hard to flash a rom, the official dopod wm6 included. follow the guide here which will allow you to flash it without the new spl. it's still recommended to flash hard spl before a ROM flash to be safe.

Even with HSPL or USPL you can not flash a ROM which is made for a different device! It does not matter whether it is factory made or cooked. Even if you can flash it, that can damage your phone!
The ROMs on this thread are only for HD. They are "cooked", therefore those ROMs have a lot of components actually taken from HD2 and they look and behave exactly like HD2, but the cooks have composed and tweaked them to work on HD. Maybe slightly slower then on HD2, but they are flashable and they work good on a HD phone.
That is the purpose of cooking. It takes a lot of work to extract the important ROM components from HD2 or Topaz, make them work on HD and then compose a new ROM that looks and feels like HD2 and which still can be flashed on HD.
A ROM made for HD2, original or taken from HD2 subforum will not work on HD or any other phone.
You can chose original or cooked, but always take only ROM which is made (factory made or cooked) specially for your model.
Each HTC model has its own subforum here on xda and the ROMs on that subforum are cooked for it. There is also xda Wiki for each model.
You are right about HSPL and USPL.
SPL on your phone does not allow you to flash any ROM made for another region (even if it is factory original ) or cooked ROM.
With USPL you can fool it to let you do so, but SPL remains the same, original as it was, you need to fool it again each time you want to flash.
With HSPL, you replace SPL with a slightly tweaked version which will always allow you to flash whatever you want.
There is way back from HSPL to the original SPL if you wish so, the instructions are in the sticky topics.

I have HTC HD with
SPL-1.56.OliNex
(when i press volume down key and press start button a three color screen appears and that is shown: SPL-1.56.OliNex )
I used HSPL.
I have installed this OliNex SPL long ago and flashed more than twenty ROMs until I settled for Topix 3.0.2 .
Just read "Dummys guide to flashing" carefully.
The ROM I use is old, there are newer ones on Topix 3.5.2 thread. You should read the changelog and users reports on that topic as well before you flash.
There are also many other good ROMs on this thread.
I think that the best idea is install new/cooked ROM from microSD card. You have to change name's ROM to BLACIMG.nbh, copy to Storage Card, switch off HD, press and keep Volume Down bottom and press for a while Power bottom. Rest you should do according to on LCD instructions. Internal downloader checkes is the ROM is correct.

i've turned off HTC Sense, and turned on the normal WM GUI, Very simple but works without problems, so i think that i'ts the Sense that isn't working correct..
Maybe there's a way to sort things out on your phone right now, but I think it would be a lot simpler if you flashed a ROM that already had Sense 2.5 and Cookie baked into it. There are plenty of ROMs here that should do that for you, though of course you would need HardSPL first.
The sticky postings about HardSPL and how to flash ROMs are very detailed and explain things well. But if you have further questions on those then you can ask in those threads.
Someone else might come along and tell you how you can fix your Sense 2.5 right now, but that's beyone what I can do myself.
Thank you for your post, i will upgrade my phone to 2.5 with the ROM from HTC.com
Because i have a unlocked phone i can just download this, lol..
after that i might HardSPL.
thanks!

That doesn't have anything to do with whether your phone is unlocked though, you may well find it doesn't work (saying "invalid vendor id", or similar).
The official HTC ROMs will only work on HTC-branded phones for that specific area/region, unless you have HardSPL.
I live in Europe,
I will download the official HTC Rom for Europe Users,
After fixed, i will try to HARDSPL.
what does it means actually?
spl
im no pro but flashing hardspl will allow "unsigned" roms to be flashed. this means roms from htc and "cooked" roms will work on you're phone.
awsome, didn't know that.!

Downgrade from WM 6.5 to old WM 6.1 (original)???

Hello!
I have a huge problem. I've had some problems with the battery on my HTC TP2 and in service they changed it. The problem is that they made an update to the software to what they call it is the last version: WM 6.5 with HTC Sense. I didn't ask for this and since it was a hardware problem I don't know what happend.
I asked them if they can downgrade to WM 6.1 like it was in the original phone and they said they couldn't do that.
I was wondering if I can get any help here?! Is there a way to find the original WM 6.1 from HTC? They don't have a version for HTC TP2 on their site ... So, how could I solve this problem?
I hate WM 6.5 with Sense because it moves really SLOW! Yes, it has many interesting things but there are a lot of badly made things . This is why I want to erase it from my phone.
Regards,
Laurentiu
http://www.xda-roms.com/
Yes the 6.1 stock roms are there too
cheers
Thank you!
And that is the original ROM??? From HTC? Released especially for this phone???
Well not all off them on that page!
But the ones that start with "RUU_Rhodium_HTC_" are the official ones released for the rhodium (HTC Touch Pro 2) by HTC.
You just need to pick your language or the world wide english(WWE) variant.
In my case i am from the netherlands and would have to choose: RUU_Rhodium_HTC_NLD_1.19.404.1_Radio_Rhodium_3.44.25.27_Signed_Ship.exe
Cheers
ps. in my signature is one of the best wm 6.1 roms i have ever stumbled upon. If you are not persistant in keeping your phone "official" HTC, i can really recommend that one. Loads of RAM very stable. Beats the stock rom in every way. But you would have to flash your htc touch pro 2 with a non official rom. (check it out at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=618063)
Bear in mind that if your phone doesn't have HardSPL, you won't be able to flash most of the official ROMs (there are loads of them), you'll only be able to flash official ROMs designed for your specific model/branding of phone. e.g. I have a Vodafone UK-branded TP2, so without HardSPL, I can only flash Vodafone UK official ROMs, I can't even flash a generic HTC official ROM.
With HardSPL you can flash any ROM you like for your phone (GSM Rhodium), official or "cooked" (custom).

[Q] What WM6.5 ROM for HTC Touch Diamond?

I am so confused. Since Android apparently needs WM to run and does not run flawless I decided to try to go from WM6.1 to WM6.5.
I already know what a ROM is and that I need to replace the WM6.1 ROM from HTC with a WM6.5 ROM from here. But there are so many ROMs and all look different. I am concerned that I may install a bad ROM so I ask you: Which one should I install?
I understand that certrain functionalities work only with certain ROMs (or something). I really focus on GPS, phone, Audio Player.
Thank you so much!
P.S. I did some research here before but I end up with so much information that I cannot handle them all. I am also concerned that I follow obsolete tutorials or information or that I grab obsolete ROM files/whatever. :S
