Looking for broken Diamond - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi there,
Its a kinda strange way to start off in a forum but im looking for broken Touch Diamond, as we want to surprise one of our friends on his birthday
Of course i am willing to pay a few bucks for it, the only thing which is important is that i need a genuine Diamond from HTC without the branding including the backcover, the actual state doesnt matter even if youve driven your hummer over it.
if one of you could help me out with a broken device or some hints where to get one i would be really grateful!

Where to buy HTC mainboards?

I've recently gotten into the hobby of buying broken phones and reselling them for just enough more to cover my costs. (that's why i'm calling it a hobby).
However, I recently purchased a pretty smashed up Tilt - it needed a new LCD and an entirely new housing.
After investing that $140, I've come to find that the mainboard is probably bad, as it wont power on.
Rather than toss my money in the crapper, I want to see about replacing the mainboard, but cant find ANYONE who sells them online...perhaps I'm searching by the wrong terms, but I'm no web n00b...and I'm coming up blank.
Does anyone know of a reputable website whereby I can purchase items like the mainboard for the Tilt? Does anyone who reads these forums WORK for HTC, and like to strike a deal?
Please, PM me if you know anyone that sells these hard-to-find HTC parts...
Thanks!!
- M
I have thousands of HTC Parts, unfortunately I dont have any of the Tilt Boards, but let me know if you need anything else and I will have a look.
Do you have a website thru which you sell them? I am actually in need of either an LCD for an 8525 with the gold ribbon cable, or the flex cable for an 8525 for use with an LCD with the black ribbon cable (stupid of HTC to make 2 different configurations for the same model, dont you think?)
LMK!

HTC Himalaya mainboard, GSM version?
I have one with water damage to the mainboard and a problematic dock port, would be a shame to scrap it, the LCD and digitizer both work, and when the battery is charged it works perfectly, apart from when it comes to syncing (problematic port) (and if you don't just have HTC parts, I am also looking for a mainboard for a nokia 6300 and an LCD / Digitizer for an HP Ipaq 2210 / 2215 lol)
pm me if you have any of this stuff please
The mini usb has failed on my Trinity. Do I need a new main board? If so do you have one?

HTC Diamond mainboard
Anyone having HTC Diamond mainboard? I was offered to repair mine for $400, looking for cheaper options..

I killed my HTC TyTN II "Solved"

I killed my Kaiser by flashing a Touch Diamond ROM to it.
Sent it to repair service and they say the Mainboard needs to be replaced, but the price for repair is ultragious .
I realy need the device,it was a big help in my confused life style.
Can anyone tell me how can i fix it myself. Or where i can buy a mainboard. Or where can i send the device to repair for a cheaper service?
Sorry i have started a new thread, but i think this is a serious matter, cause HTC TyTN II is not a toy"I know i done to it the same as to a toy" and its expensive. Please help.
Thanks in advance for all your help guys.

Touch diamond isn't all that great. It's lyk a Nokia platform on a PDA, why'd u flash it to a kaiser anyway ?!
About the raw materials, you can easily get the main board (for cheep) through any cellphone spareparts shop online through google . As far as repair is concerned, its as easy as performing a hardware upgrade for your pc; un-plug--> plug. If you're still scared, you can google for a stp by stp instructions.

As for where to purchase parts, I'd normally tell you to go here: http://www.pocketpctechs.com/main~unit~HTC_TyTN_II-972~area~home.htm but they don't have motherboards.
Your best bet might be to buy something from eBay with a cracked screen, because the motherboard, cpu & chipset is usually the most expensive part, and if you fry that it's usually easier to just buy new...
Hope this helps!

Thankx Alex.
I knew that wise words and advice would come out of the inner you.
I went to Mike Channon Home Page and left a message there,im still waiting for a reply.
I will go get the Device from the repair shop tomorrow. Ididnt accepted the price.
I will try and fix it myself,as i have the hability to fix Electronic things as PCs,Laptops,Mobiles etc, thank GOD.
Im low on economic status, but i will try Ebay my friend.
First Kitchen i used was the one with all your OEM Packages. So i love your work.
Hope you keep up in the good path of life .
For some of the others, should ignore any inconscient reply.
Of course i didn wanted to kill my Device. I just cooked HTC Touch Diamond ROM in a Kaiser Kitchen, added some Apps from the ROM i cooked based on C. Stu ROM to make it more colorfull, more alive to our eyes. But it went wrong, and if Man doesnt commited mistakes,so there wouldnt be positive results. Test we need. Mistakes have to occur in order to get better things.
People in Ethiopia have a more confused life than me. Im not an egocentric person, but cool .
I always learned things the hard way .
While I changed my screen I broke the keyboard connector on the mainboard. The brown plastic closing mechanism broke to parts. Any clue where I could buy a new one and if it is possible to change it (solder?)?

he cooked the rom first ... and i'm guessing something didn't go right. OFCOURSE he just didn't straight flash a diamond rom .. he's a cook so i think he knows better than that.

Im sorry for what append to you device. It doesnt make us feel good.
What did realy append ?
What part do you need ?
I have the solution for that. If you need a new Mainboard i can get it for you.
I dont make crazy prices. Probably a new device for the price of a Mainboard, thats what ive done, but im searching for a Mainboard supplier thought .
If you want to know more PM me.

Nope,i didnt straight flashed a Diamond Rom.
I knew i had to cook it. But forgot that i had to Port XIP and probably SYS from a Kaiser ROM to the Diamond one, or the reverse.
Im still on the learning process. But as you must know,Time is the Master.
And learning and take actions till they come correct its a bit time consuming. And i dont have much time these days.
I learned the hard way. I believe thats one thing that will never appen again .
Im waiting for my new Kaiser to arrive. Couldnt find a Mainboard supplier yet.
But i can get Kaisers for less then the price they asked me in the repair shop.

Opinions on Kaiser

Hi guys.
I'm interested in buying a Kaiser.
I'd flash the rom with Tir v10k, seems working good.
What do you think of this smartphone?
I usually use Nokia with Symbian, just wanted that for trying it.
Is it the same if I get a V1615, Mda Vario III, P4550, Htc Tytn II, Xda Stellar? Or not?
I'm trying to buy it on Ebay, sometimes you can get a good price, I don't want to pay it more than 200€.
I found the utility for unlocking it, in case of device locked to some operator: it's not difficult the operation, right?
Tell me what you think.
Thanks
I also used to use nokia symbian phones but beleive me bro once i got a tytn2 and started flashing roms and "buying" programs for it i wil NEVER go back to a symbian phone the wm phone are so much more versatile than symbian.
The unlocking process is very simple its just like installing a game to you pc as long as you follow the instructions you cant go wrong (well most cant).
Would highly recommend a kaiser/tynt2 also opposed to buying one off e-bay there is a site selling them brand new for around £260 maybe £240 cant remember have a google, would be better if you cant get it new for warranty purposes.
Enjoy your phone when you get it,i am due an upgrade now but regardless of getting a new phone i am not going to sell my tytn 2.
Also i have just posted about anyone who has bricked there kaiser/tytn2 because i didnt take very good care of my housing and am looking to buy a second hand good condition housing,so USE the pouch it comes with because it will chip easily if you drop it, i just paid £25.88 just for a battery cover for it so be warned.
Thanks so much for fast reply.
Can you give some examples of useful sofwares for Windows Mobile?
I cannot find the site you're talking about for taking a new one. Do you think they have many problems that I should need warranty? I don't want a phone for bringing it to assistance every month. Is warranty European on these products?
Thanks

The softwares that are usefull all depend on what you are going to be using the phone for...there are many different UI (User Interfaces) available to download like htc home, manilla 2d/3d, spb mobile shell just to mention a few it all depends on what you want on your home screen.
The warranty is the manafacturers warranty which means that if theres is a manafacturers fault with the device you can send it back for upto one year, some phones will allways be sent out with a fault that got past the manafacturers tests but not very often but it does sometimes happen and if your the unlucky person that gets that one in ten thousand phone you will want to send it back.
I personally have had no problem with my tytn2,there is so much software out there for all walks of life.
I wil try and find that site for you...
Heres one...

Possibly the dumbest question on upgrading a wizard.

Hi there,
Well I have had my wizard for a while now and the screen has managed to aqiure some scratches over the years and I found out that on ebay you can get a new screen for like £8 with tools and instructions, so this got me thinking, as I really like this phone even though it is old and outdated it still manages to keep up in some areas and thanks to you guys it keeps getting new software and os's so I thought well instead of spending £400 on a new phone why not spend like £50 on a new screen and then possibly fix the biggest problem i have with this phone, the RAM.... its really not enough and i was wondering if it was possible to get a new upgraded RAM chip and just get someone experienced in soldering and stuff to take out the old one and put in a new one. Now I know this really sounds far fetched and even if it is possible it may end up way to expensive, and alot easier to get a new phone but if anyone has any ideas if it is possible id love to know.
PS sorry if this is a seriously dumb question but I like my massive outdated smart phone I just wish it had more ram.
Thanks
Well to all those interested, i have found out that it is possible to get it to 128 MB but it will cost around £70 and i can get a secondhand HTC TYTN II for £100 so I think ill go for that instead.
That's cool
Is it available freely or did you have to do a lot of digging?
And any ideas how to install the new memory?
Well from what i found out in another thread on this site is that a company called retronix will take your phone in and change the ram chips for you. Here is the thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359590
I have sent them an email asking about it but have not recieved a reply.
I hope this will be helpfull for you, I have decided against it as you can buy a second hand tytn II for almost the same price and also as I will start uni in september I will be getting a contract that comes with the Touch Pro 2 cant wait it looks like an awsome phone.

R.I.P My TyTN

Its served me well for the past year but now i fear it has gone kaput..
2 days ago i noticed my homescreen had "no service" listed.
strange as i normally receive a 3g signal fine in my area with no loss..
So i figured take the sim out,
give it a clean and pop it back in
That came the same thing,
"no service"
So i took that sim out and tried my others [o2/tmobile and lebara]
Same thing, wouldn't get a signal..
==
So afraid to say this thing may end up on ebay or in the free ads as a faulty/repair handset as im lost with what to do.. >__<
Any advice guys?
[EDIT]
Yes the phone was unlocked,
must've been through atleast 14 different roms over time but that shouldnt effect this surely.. o__O
Have you tried a hard reset or reflash?
If your phone still dead..when there's a dead body...commonly there's always an autopsy . It can be hardware (antena), maybe something is loose in there.
Try hard-reset if not working flash stock and see if disabling 3G helps... Check no problems carrier side.
As Mr Clown said genrally a way to fix you just have to try every scenario and if not then might be hardware @ which point you can decide if worth the time/outlay?
Thanks guys for the info,
@MrClown I have tried a had reset to only end up in the same situation,
I will attempt a stock rom flash tonight to see if that helps
@Stylez Again i will try a stock flash and see if it helps,
Found a good one on the wiki so that should help
My guess is hardware related as the phone had been dropped a few times in the house albeit over many months not repeatedly,
I'll report back later guys
so thanks for the advice
hey dude! all is not lost! this is a common problem with the kaiser due to the sliding mechanism, i.e. "moving parts". over time, the wear and tear often causes the "main flex cable" to become loose/faulty. i had the same problem at the beginning of may 2010...had it fixed in 1 week and it worked fine. then i got an HD2 in june 2010 but the kaiser still works just fine!
i had made up my mind that the kaiser needed to be replaced the day it went bad. BUT i did not give up hope on it and decided to have it repaired because it is worth more in the second hand market with working phone functionality. did a simple cost-benefit analysis and figured i'd have it repaired AND get an HD2.
wouldn't you know it, i ended up GIVING the kaiser to my brother...had i sold it to a potential buyer, i'm certain it would be worth more if the phone parts work.
...and just to summarize! HD2 is GREAT! but i really miss the hardware keyboard of the kaiser and the super duper redundancy the kaiser had in terms of buttons...D-PAD+jog wheel+arrow keys on hardware keyboard, THREE OK buttons...count them! TWO start menu buttons. oh and the HD2 has a soft reset button in a REEAAAAAALLLLLLYYYYY difficult to access area behind the battery cover, unlike the kaiser's super friendly poke-the-stylus-in-the-hole approach. BUT i highly recommend the HD2 if you still fancy windows mobile...fast, HHUUUUUUGGGEEEE screen, and it seems android just might happen soon on the HD2.

Well if you'll care to enlighten me on where i could get this repair done id be most glad,
Wont be handing it to the people in my local market to fiddle with as i dont trust them at all
As in regards to the previous two guys a stock rom didnt help at all it still refuses to get a signal,
so its definatly something to do with this "flex cable"
But in regards to the HD i wont be getting one,
Most likely i'll be getting another xda exec [htc universal] for my social needs,
I have a tendancy of using dated hardware and pushing their limits
sure dude! i'm just going to post links here of THREE other threads about this issue (so you can verify with some more testing if the flex cable is really the actual issue), in which i have contributed my experience. you can read my posts there as well as all the other very helpful posts of other members.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=515264
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=692530
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=620069
summary: first try some of the debugging techniques mentioned in the above threads and look for signs that the flex cable is indeed faulty. if so, you have 2 options:
1. get a do-it-yourself kit (available on many websites and also on ebay) and errrr do it yourself!
2. have someone reliable and experienced with such repairs carry out the repair.
i had to go for option 2. and i had to rely on the parts that the service repair guy had to offer (he cannibalized the flex cable from a tilt so the front camera of my tytn2 is no longer detected!).
i totally understand the need to milk out every last drop from these expensive devices. i truly respect the tytn2 even though it is an old device. that little bugger still has so much potential. hope this helps!
Ahhh much thanks for the information man,
You have no idea how appreciative i am
Its definatly a hardware issue so its gonna have to be a replacement fixup for myself,
Looking into this listing on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-TyTN-II-P4550-Kaiser-Flex-Sim-Card-Slot-Repair-Part-/290442707411?cmd=ViewItem&pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item439fbc01d3
Essentially from hong kong as usual but that looks like it would do the job,
The only problem now is that i have ZERO experience with mobile based mainboards and hardware changing,
Give me a pc or mac anyday and ill be done in seconds but im afraid im blank for mobile operations,
Would any UK members be able to give advice as to somewhere i could get this fitted?
Only option i can think of is at the carphone warehouse..
as in my first post i dont really wish to give this to the market people for a botched job
And much thanks to ASCIIker for all the helpful information,
cos id really dread getting rid of my TyTN II >_<
