Tilt Screen Problem- HELP Please!!! - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi guys, i'm a big fan of this site, and I'm glad Im part of it since i can use you guy's great roms and tricks. But I have a big problem with my tilt now and I wanted to see if some of you could help me with it. I bought my tilt from a friend with a broken screen, i bought and replaced the screen myself, but after a day or two, the backlight for the screen wouldn't work. The only working solution i found was by squeezing the phone and pressing on the lower left corner above the green call button so the screen wouldnt turn on while i pressed it. I decided to open it, and i put a piece of paper above the connection of the screen and the flex, and this worked for a while. But ever since, i always have to keep putting in new pieces paper or plastic to keep pressure on the connection for the lcd, i was wondering if you guys would happen to know what the possible cause is. And it is hard because when i put those pieces of papers, the call button on the front has so much pressure that it is permanently pressed. I dont know what to do now, i don't know if i should just give up trying to fix my tilt or to just buy a new one. Hope someone can help me thank you.

damn...41 views and no replies....im guessing i should start looking for a new phone

A thorough clean needed
How about carefully cleaning the flex and connector using contact cleaner? If a connection surface isn't perfectly clean, often pressure is needed to push the terminals through the tiny film of grease (eg from fingerprints).

I'd say you bought a bad quality LCD that has a wacky contact inside the module...

im going to buy contact cleaner..if that doesnt work then it's probably a bad lcd like u guys said even though i paid 100 dollars for it ...thank you very much for the replies

While replacing the screen you might've shorted something which would then only allow certain function by appling abnormal pressure.

HTC Diamond Strange Screen Problem (URGENT)

I had my Diamond for about 8 months now. All of a sudden no matter where I click on the screen it always clicks on the top left corner (Start button). I hard reset the phone, changed SPL but nothing worked.
My Specs:
Duttys 5.2.20764.1.4.3
Diamond-hspl-1.24
When I try to align the screen it keeps on looping not letting me get out of the screen alignment. I have to soft reset the phone.
Is my phone dead? Do I have to send it to HTC for repair?
sounds like a broken screen digitizer (the plastic which recognizes touch).
If its under warranty then i suggest you flash everything back to factory, ie. stock spl, stock ROM. Then RMA it back for warranty.
If it isn't under warranty and you wanna get it repaired. Then just order a new digitizer from Ebay and install it yaself. That will save you an arm and a leg, since HTC will probably charge you like 4x the price to get it fixed.
How come it responds to the screen alignment than? When I press the cross hair it responds to it and moves to a different position.
Right now I am trying to put the stock SPL on the phone but I can't get past the screen alignment. The is synced and everything. Any ideas?
You MUST change the ROM to stock first then the SPL
I did put the stock ROM back on the Diamond. But I can't get passed the align screen. I tried deleting the "welcome" file form \Windows\StartUp but the file is protected and can not be deleted. Is there any other solution of by passing the welcome screen?
I had this problem too, I got my Diamond from Rogers and went home. After a few minutes this started to happen, and I instantly went back and got a replacement.
I got same prob. But sometime it work fine, after i do softreset i cant skip screen align. Can hard reset fix this prob? im from malaysia, how much it'll cost to replace the digitizer? thanks
i have this problem too
hello all!
I had the same problem as you! after some time searching... found a program called "Remote Screen Alignment" ... and your problem is solved!
Just google it!

For the new diditizer is this easy to repair by myself??
I have a broken touch screen too (LCD is working perfectly, touch is non responsive, all over the screen)
I was just reading in another thread that changing the digitizer on its own is a bit of a nightmare as its glued to the LCD screen? Is this true, is this the case, if so, would it be possible to buy a LCD + Digitizer in one? I searched eBay but could not find anything?
Any help is much appreciated as the cost of a new phone is not an option!
Thanks,
DG.

Hi
My digitizer is also broken, I ordered new one from ebay (cost about 10 €) and as you wrote replacament is nightmare.
I'm trying to find a manual or instruction video but I cannot find anything.
If somebody knows how to replace digitizer please let me know or share a link for it.
Currently my best solution is to order new digitizer with display (cost about 20€) It is possible to order for exaplme here:

hello, i have the same problem with my diamond here, pres the screen and it activates the left upper corner, after a while stoped doing that but not my right lower part of the screeen doesnt respond. i mean i press the "j" and it writes "k".. u know what i mean., i cac calibrate the screen but after 1 min the problem is back. i wanna buy that digitizer and change it but b4 this i need a confirmation, did anyone do it and after that their diamond worked like b4? waiting for reply thx
This post is giving me a nightmare. I am facing similar problem only its not permanent. What I mean is it woks fine sometimes but wont respond sometimes. Sometimes it responds in the corners if I press hard. I think my phone is just passed its warranty also its 2nd hand though I have the bill. Service centers are really bad so I am scared.
Do you'll think my digitizer is gone bad or is it a software glitch?
Hi guys
I have a similar problem with my HTC Touch Diamond,
The screen just gone crazy constantly pressing on the top-right corner, this happened like 1 week ago. After searching the internet and this forum I found out that my only quick solution is to hard press the four corners to get working properly again but the problem will come back again after a while.
I bought this phone from ebay in 2008, had no problems with it untill I found out this ugly strange colored square in the middle that is noticable after switching phone's backlight off, I guess that was due to me holding the phone in my jean's back pocket (as I used to previous phones non touch ), I had this phone working perfectly until what happened last week!
I decided to find if this is a software related issue, so I upgraded to official HTC ROm 2.03.405.3 WWE, but the problem persists
I also bought a digitizer from ebay in case I want to replace it (but never done this before)
Can anyone please confirm if I am still under warranty, how to check this and if yes is that going to cost me anything to get it returned to HTC for repair (other than postage costs of course)
If not under warranty anymore, do you advise me to get a LCD+Digiztizer combined instead ?
Many thanks !!!
Damian
I have this problem (not my video):
youtube > watch?v=5-IUzerAT0s (sorry, I can't post links)
Problem:
Sometimes, and really just sometimes, no matter where I touch the screen it only signals a left touch. So wherever I touch, 1, 2 or 3 - only 1 will enter.
I am not sure if this is related, but it may give some clues:
A few days ago I disassembled my Diamond. I did not take out the LCD coz it's sort of glued in and probably hard to take out and may break.
However, I got down to the digitizer soldering. I did not de-solder the flat-cable, but I pressed my solder iron on each of the 4 solder joints. I pressed the solder tip right on the film. Don't worry, it's most likely polyimide and it's heat resistant.
After that the Diamond worked well, well, for a few days. Then same happened again. When I have the problem and I press strongly right of the HTC logo (LCD bottom right) the problem disappears. That makes me thinking the problem is maybe mechanical.
It maybe a solder crack. I presume the Diamond is RoHS, and my solder iron was not RoHS. That matters, coz RoHS solder needs more heat the lead solder. Means, my solder iron did not really melt the solder under the film.
I will give that another try with an RoHS solder iron in the next few days.

I have the same 'tendency to go left' problem. From my experience, I found that the problem could be caused by heat. Here are some examples when it goes wrong: When I use Tomtom navigator while charging the battery, the phone really heats up and starts to go 'left'. When I try to text message under the sun after taking it out from my pocket. When I have high usage such as wifi + opera. Really hop somebody can come up a solution for the problem...
The Reason ---
Its a heating issue seen in 20% of all shipped diamonds. It heats and expands the digitizer causing loss of touch.
Solution ---
I'm working on it!
P.S - The heat i'm talking about is not the heat that's generated wile using the phone , its due to outside exposure.
Crazy thought - Try it at your own risk
Exposing the mobile to moderate temp (cold , say 12-14 degrees) might help. Not sure.. i said MIGHT.
Don't try this if its under warranty. And don't blame me if you did something wrong and all you circuits get messed up!
Anyways will post if i hit something on the way!
No, new solution??
Maybe change the digitalizer solves the problem?? Because two months ago the problem only stay few minutes but now i can't make the alignment process.
Thanks!

Touch screen not responding after hard reset..hardware problem?

I have searched for solutions for the past 2 days but cant find one, if i missed it or this post is redundant , i apologize in advance.
Now my tilt is driving me crazy. It started last week when The touch screen wasnt working, but i fixed it by doing a couple of soft resets. then all the sudden, everytime i slide my keyboard out, the touch screen would stop responding. this went on for a day, then yesterday, when i tired to use the keyboard, the screen went blank, like the light died or something. but when i put it back on portrait, the screen would light up again.
A few moments later, the touch was responding, tried to use the keypad then the screen went blank..tried soft resets about 5 times and uninstalled all recent added programs (skyfire) ..finally the screen was working but the touch still wasnt working.
So this morning, i had the bright idea to do a hard reset....dumbest idea ever cos now its stuck at the screen where i have to "tap the screen to set up your wm device" and guess what..the touch screen isnt responding
plz i really need help with this. all so , i have a broken tilt.., well lcd screen is cracked...can i try to dismantle both tilts and replace the screens?
Ok, i used Code Factory's Remote screen alignment to bypass the alignment, but if i cant use the touch screen or the keyboard, the phone is pretty much useless for sending any information or making calls..is there a way to fix this?
I have had this same issue with my tilt. I could use the scroller on the left side of the unit to navigate but no touch screen. Both times that this has happened to me I removed the screen protector that I had on and restored a backup that I had on my storage card (I run a backup weekly). This has always fixed my issue. You could try another hard reset, not sure if that will help but do you get any lights on the keyboard when you slide it open? Is your tilt less than a year old because there is a manufacturer's warranty too.
Jim
when i slide the keyboard, i do get lights on the keyboard but not on the screen...it just goes dead..but when i slide it back in, the screen comes to life.
I cant do another hard reset cos i have to input the "1,2,3,4" code.
Also , the phone just got out of the 1yr warranty this month...awesome
I want to buy a replacement screen with a new digitizer but i need to be sure that is the problem.. ive searched for this keyboard problem but still have no answers
Now I'm having the same issue, touch not responding. I first noticed it about two days ago, when I slide the keyboard out, I could type just fine, but when I went to send the message the touch screen wouldnt work, so I'd close the keyboard and it would work. well yesterday it stopped working all together, so i used my d-pad and did a sprite restore and it started working again. But then On my way home i hit the lock button, and it stopped working after that, and I couldn't get it unlocked. I used the inner soft key to hit the first part of unlock, but then I couldnt ever figure which button to hit to get the on screen part of the unlock. So I had no choice but to do a hard reset, and just like highoct now I'm stuck on the stylus setup , and the touch still doesnt respond. does anybody esle have any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.
You can use the Code Factory's Remote screen alignment to bypass the alignment.
If the touch screen is the only problem, you can do one of two things if you are no longer under warranty;
1. Fix it yourself. You will have to buy a new Lcd screen with new digitizer at ebay and use this site http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_kaiser/ to open up your tilt and replace it
2. Send it to a repair shop, I had two tilts and sent the one with the broken screen to www.missionrepair.com got it back in a within a week, $89.00 plus shipping
here is the link : http://www.missionrepair.com/Mission_Repair_AT_T_Cell_Phone_Repairs_and_Upgrades_s/321.htm
I still have the same tilt with the original problem..havent found a solution yet
Oh yeah, I did manage to do a hard reset again, but now the screen is just white. I can hear the sound of it booting up but it still has a white screen. I tired going to the Bootloader screen ( Camera and power at the same time)...still have the white screen. I believe its a hardware problem but i don't know what it is...any ideas?
Ok now I've done a hard flash, using the same HTC kaiser rom 6.1 and it fixes the problem for a little bit, until the first time I slide out the keyboard , then the screen stops working again, any suggestions ?
iPhone 3G Screen Repair...finally an affordable answer
If you are reading this, you are most likely in the same dilemma I was in. I dropped my phone and picked it up only to find out that the glass screen was cracked. I took my broken phone to apple and found out it would cost me $199. I then was told about iPhone 3G Screen Repair. They offered the iPhone 3G glass screen repair for only 69.99. They repaired my phone the same day they received it. I was very happy with the repair!

I know this thread is a bit old but was searching d forum for possible solutions cos yesterday i developed the same exact problem on my kaiser for no apparent reason!..flashing it hasnt helped and now im stuck on the wm setup screen..when u say u still have the same tilt with the original problem do you mean that the repair was unsuccessful? have you tried reparing it yourself? Thanks
I just started to have the same problem, it started out with the touch not responding (which a few soft resets fixed) and now the whole screen doesn't function unless i slid out the keyboard or if i jiggle it around and open it a couple of time i can usually find a spot that allows the screen to function with the keyboard closed. If i leave it in this position for about an hour the touch starts responding again, wtf. This is very inconvenient because as soon as you move the screen even just a little it will take me like half an hour to find the position which allows the phone to function.

same thing happened to me 3 days ago. touchscreen has just stopped responding.
it still worked when i slided my keyboard out, but only when it was out. then i realized it won't work at all (!) after soft reset. however, i could make it work again like that when i did the soft reset with the keyboard out. weird.
i tried searching, and decided to make a hard reset, flash a new rom, etc, etc., but no more touchscreen. at all. the device doesn't feel any touch in any case. nothing. i bypassed the beggining tap here with the storage card trick. (i've read it somewhere on the forum).
now i can only use my kaiser with the hw buttons, the keyboard, and that's it. no touch. really weird. please if anyone has any updates, solutions, anything, post. sniff sniff
mine doesn't have anything on the screen unless i slide it out, if i have it closed anymore, it just doesn't work at all.
try this:
ive just replaced my barely functioning lcd by myself, after living with it sometimes registered the stylus jumping around when i used the stylus. but before you change your lcd, here is a couple of tips for you guys:
1) try sliding out the keyboard. hold one finger in the middle of the keyboard and another on the back side of the phone, and squeeze hard, but careful. it might be that the flat cable between the screen part and the main part has loosened a bit from its socket, this could help it back in.
2) try sqeezing the hang up button hard. this might help the lcd-cable correctly back in its socket if it is loose.
im saying that this MIGHT help, if youre lucky. most likely you have to open the phone and squeeze the connectors back in yourself, or actually change the entire lcd. anyways, let me know what works for you!!

Hardware problem (buttons), please help.

over the past few weeks some of the buttons (namely left soft key, up and left) have stopped working, i've tried numerous roms just incase but it's definatley a hardware issue, now, i've dismanted the phone using the diamantos guide to see if anything jumps out at me, gave the phone a damn good cleaning whilst i had the chance, put it back together....but nothing, everything seems to be in order, all components in their rightful place but i still cant work it out, does anyone know if this is a common problem or if theres a fix as i've been unsuccessful in my searches.
actually, i just found the solution and it worked a treat, thanks anyway people.
btw, if anyone would like to know what i did then i'll be more than happy to share the solution.
Hi godofwap,
I have the same problem with a trinity I bought used. Tried to stick some papers under the buttons but that didn`t help so I`m very curious how You managed to get them working again. Hope You find the time to write a short notice.
Have some fine days,
FlyBy_1
ok, no problem, heres what i did.
before you start please be aware that this is a very delicate procedure and you should take care as this may naff up your beloved trinity.
ok, i first disassembled my trinity using the dimantos guide located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311463,
now, when you get to the keyboard / button pcb take it out if, you look closely you'll notice theres a thin adhesive plastic cover covering the metalic buttons, very very carefull peel this back (i used a sharp knife to get to it), making sure not to completely remove it, try to only expose the underneath of the buttons in question, you'll see that the buttons come away with the plasic leaving the underneath exposed, now, using a cotton bud and some lightly applied alcohol clean the contacts then when all is done, replace the plastic and make sure its firmly pressed back down you may notice it making a different, kind of sharper clicking noise when depressed than before meaning its worked, repeat for all buttons.
i think whats going on here is the gum or glue from the plastic film has "leaked" if you will, onto the plates meaning theres no contact from the buttons, this would also account for the very slight change in sound when you now press the button.
i found this info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-289737.html
Nice find mate; sounds like a solution for my problem cause when I got my phone the first I had to do was to disassemble and clean the heck outta it, there was dust everywhere as if the old owner had laid it on the moon for a week. But who thought the buttons are actually separatable... strange technique.
Thanks for the hint, at least now I´ve got something to do over the holidays at my parents-in-law
Once again thanks for Your hint.
The problem with mine was actually not dust and stuff between the two halves but too much pressure by the former owner.
After I had separated the plastic film from the board I saw that there were very deep dents where the pick of the metal discs had pushed the soft pcb material down. So I cleaned them anyway and then reapplied the film with an offset of just a fraction of a millimetre so they make perfect contact with the pcb again.
Every single button again works perfectly now

**~htc touch screen not working!!!!~**

hi,
my touch diamond 2's touch screen stop working randomly ( i think that i applied too much pressure on 1 spot for too long). I can see the touch screen dots on the area. I am just wondering if I were to repair this, would i be replacing the DIGITIZER or the TOUCH SCREEN.
Thank you soo much
warranty might cover that. It might not be your fault
I have decided to fix the part myself since I do not wish to ship the part to their location in the US. Any idea if its the digitizer or the LCD screen that i should be replacing?

Search the Wiki, there are dismantle instructions.
I had the same on my display, and was able to move the dark spot to the edges where it disappeared.
I moved it with scratching it with my nail very gently applying some pressure.
In Europe HTC offers a pickup and return warranty, is that different in the US? If it is the same I would send it in to HTC for replacement, since it might happen again pretty soon....
I already have 3 screens replaced :-(
jason, did u manage to fix this? i have the exact same problem and pushing the "bubbles" towards the edge of the screen didn't help. my screen is still unresponsive..

Try applying duct tape to it repeatedly until you get it back.
Yes, both
I recently replaced the Touch Screen on my Diamond 2. Same problem; spots that "stick" in the middle. I used to solve this by running both my thumbs down the sides of the screen to "puff up" the low areas in the middle.
The part you want is actually called a "Digitizer Touch Screen" on eBay, cheap too. Prepare to spend about 2 hours fiddling with very tiny screws, connections and glue to tackle the job.
The hardest part for me was actually getting the Touch Screen to work; it seemed to be calibrated in mirror-image AND turned 90 degrees sideways, which made getting to the calibration functionality an extremely frustrating experience. I spend another 3 hours on that, but now I've got a perfect phone again, since I ordered a new case as well. No use taking the entire phone apart and then rebuilding with a molested outer shell...
maybe you should reset it
Working Solution Till Now
Hello Friends,
I have TD2 mobile and today I had same issue. I was thinking it was because of the weather or some.
I remember it did happend several time before, but when I restart the device several time it does work. So I was ignoring.... But today it did not work.. looks like going toward end... So I did soft and hard reset without and that did not helped me.
So I switched off the mobile, "heated" the touch screen gently with my hand for 1 min and started the mobile again and it worked for me .
Not sure if this is a solution, but will work.
May be I will contact Service Center here in Hyderbad and see what is wrong here?
Hope this will help you all...
Thanks.
Solution
Okay, I've just had this problem with an HTC Touch, and I think this works with any HTC that has a "digitizer" rather than an all-in-one touchscreen (I think newer phones have digitisers).
I'm not sure if this will always work, but I've just done it - sometimes the inactive touch screen is "broken" because the layers are stuck together (so the phone can't tell where the touch is, hence unresponsive). With mine, I looked at the screen side on and could see a kind of "oily" patch in the light.
The solution is to get masking/gaffa tape - the very sticky brown one. Stick it down on the screen/digitizer and then keep pulling it off - this pulls the layers from each other. I kept repeating this lots before it worked - and in the end I pulled the top layer completely off (I think you should pull from the top of the phone, as the layers need to be attached at the bottom of the screen/digitizer). Once it pulled away, I gently lay it back down (after panicking!!) and hey presto it started working again.
Good luck!
Digitizer replaced but still not working
The touch screen on my Touch Diamond2 stopped responding to my touch (or the stylus) and I tried everything including removing and replacing the digitizer bus just in case the connection was the issue. But all to no avail. Finally I decided to replace the digitizer (touch screen)
The problem for me is that it made no difference. The new digitizer doesn't respond to my touch either. The problem is apparently somewhere else.
If anyone has encountered this problem and has a solution I would be grateful to know what it is.
Thanks in advance
Replace the Touch Diamond2 Digitizer touch screen.
I recently replaced the digitizer (touch screen) on my HTC Touch Diamond2. Since I found on the net, no instructions for replacing the actual digitizer, I thought I might include some here.
It was relatively easy to fit. The only difficulty I encountered was a lack of information about how to actually remove the old one. The various instruction sets found on the web all stop once the screen is removed. But the digitizer is not covered by these instructions. The digitizer is bonded to a thin glass immediately under your screen protector (if you have one fitted) and after the screen is removed following instructions you will find on the net, the digitizer and the thin glass sheet that it is bonded to must be prized off from the front of the housing. The digitizer separates from the glass easily, but the glass is securely bonded to the housing with a silicon glue. It must be prized off by gently lifting a corner and applying a little upward pressure allowing the glue to slowly and gently let go. Don't be surprised if the glass breaks during the process. Once off it is a simple matter to press the new one in place. Just remember to start by slipping the connector bus (cable) through the narrow slot between the metal outer housing and the inner components. I used a set of tweezers to poke it through. DO IT FIRST before pressing the digitizer into place.
Okay, as I said the process was easy and took about 15 minutes all up.

Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on the glass part mate. Just replaced my TD2 digitizer too. Kinda freaked out at first when the glass split.. haha
Anyway, just wanna 1 more info. When removing the old digitizer, it'll be easier if the front housing was heated first (with a hairdryer on full or a heatgun) to soften the glue. It'll be easier to remove afterwards.
Word of warning though. Only head the housing when REMOVING the old digitizer, DO NOT use this method when applying the new one. The digitizer dies because of heat. Heat is what causes the newton rings issue.

I have the same problema with my Diamond2. I have also changed the digitalizer with no success It is still not responding to any kind of touch.
Shoofty, did you manage to fix yours?
Thanks in advance,
Javier
Fixing TD2 touch screen
TD2 touch screen is a common problem I guess.
Symptoms are :
1- Touch screen does not respond sometimes
2- You can see a grease like layer under the touch screen
3- Sometimes if you look closer to the screen at some part you can see a a liquidized small area.
Solutions:
1- If you see the liquidized dot on the screen turn off the display and try to rub it with your finger until it disappears. turn it on again and try if it works. I guess heating with the finger as other peeople here suggest does the same thing. However this is a temporary solution. Your touchscreen will die at some date. I used my TD2 for 8-9 months using this method. But at the end touchscreen died.
2- Replace the digitzer or complete frontcover. Actually this might be easier than you think. I replaced mine in half an hour. I bought a front cover which includes the digitzer (http://www.ebay.de/itm/Original-HTC...zer_Ersatzteile_Werkzeuge&hash=item4cfe6f78dc) and openning tools from ebay. Dimanıond 2 disassemble and assemble videos on youtube were very helpful. I strongly suggest to buy the complete frontcover (inc digitzer). It makes replace process much easier and gives the device a brand new look. My old front cover was worn from the corners (which is also very commpn problem of TD2). Now it looks brand new. No strach on the display and body.
Thnks Ozkarah.
I happened to realize that, surprisingly, the touch screen of my HD2 started working if I heated it up with a hairdryer. So, I think something else is wrong beyond the touch screen, probably the connector to the main board of the mobile. It might expand once it is hot and that is why it starts working. In any case, I think that is beyond repair
HTC screen calibration

Hi,
I have same problem when I changed new screen (screen is calibrated in mirror-image AND turned 90 degrees sideways).
Could tell step by step how you get your screen calibrated?
Thanks

[Q] Touch screen not working

My Droid's touch screen isn't working in the center vertically all the way down. I can still use the 'edges' of the screen. I need to use the middle of the screen for a few things (not transfering stuff over). Is there any way I can 'project' my Droids screen to my computer and click/touch in it to use it?
Thanks in advance for all help. It's appreciated
~mfungah
Edit: This is the original Motorola Droid.
I have the same problem on the right side of my milestone :S
I had the same problem, but from the back arrow upwards, specially when the phone got hot. As my phone was still on the warranty period, I flashed it back to stock and updated it to the official 2.2., took it to an Orange shop and got it back after almost a month: they basically changed the whole top part of the phone (I got a brand new screen )
Repair problem
I had a same failure. The touch panel was bad. I ordered one from eBay. It also came as well put it. It works well. Only so much wrong with me that for some reason the phone stacked in landscape mode, I can't change to portrait mode. What is wrong? I put together something wrong? I do not think so. Everything else goes. (or so it seems)
This has to do with the digitizer (the glass you touch over the top of the LCD you see) being defective or unsealed. This is due to environmental moisture finding its way into the phone and f**king with the electrictal signals sent by touching the screen. There is a 'phantom touch' issue that seems to happen before or during the vertical unresponsiveness, and that can usually be temporarily remedied by firmly pushing your screen downwards (your phone may restart) and taking a blowdryer to your phone until it's just hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold (and no longer take it into the bathroom while you shower). One way or another, you're going to have to replace your digitizer eventually.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
I had the same problem months ago but it's now fixed.
STEPS:
1. Digitizer I bought from this guy:
http://cgi.ebay.ph/New-Touch-Screen-Digitizer-Motorola-Milestone-A853-/270780531 891?pt=UK_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item3f0bc704b3#ht_2811wt_850
2. Dissasembly Videos (I advice you to watch them repeatedly before dissasembly):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6d7ETMfgq2s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE81IaQHEHc
3. Phillips screw driver( for dealing with hard screws around the screen): Because I don't want you to use the low quality screw driver supplied with the digitizer.
4. Double sided tape: I got mine from a hardware shop for only P19. Buy a the more expensive tape(P100+) but look for a very thin one! You will use the cheap weak tape to stick some internal parts and use the Hard tape to stick the external casing. EDIT: I just used the cheap one for everything and it's strong enough.
5. PATIENCE: Don't be in a hurry. I even paused from time to time to get a better idea about what to do next. Get the feel of being a perfectionist (that same additude when I applied a screen protector )
That's the guide from me who haven't dissasembled a phone in my entire life but my milestone. So if something bad and technical that happens along the way then my knowledge can't help.. sorry.
Good luck bro!!
