Samsung "Finger mouse" application - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How feasible is it to port this to the xperia? Anyone know?
basically, it gives you a useable cursor via the optical joystick

Could you give a link to the original application?

Its not an application you can download, it is a standard app only found in the Omnia because it has an optical joystick similar to X1

yeah unfortunately it's not an application i can find anywhere.
Shame, as its a really cool app - allows you to have a mouse cursor on your windows mobile

the d-pad (side) buttons must be flatten, or the cam must be come higher in future versions of xperia x1.
the pad is to deep in a hole. its not the feeling, it could be. htc/sony/ericsson have to lift up this sensor!
touchpad style...
but tomorrow, i will test, to glue a 1-2 mm transparent pet foil over the touchpad`s cam.
normaly, the pet foil (acryllic glas) will transport the optical informations
i hope to become the touchpad sensor field, exactly to the d-buttons frame`s hight.
so i hope, it will feel as one unity with a plain surface. so it`s easier to slide with the thumb
over the senor.
touchpad style... *G

ehh, okay. Don't destroy your phone

What about the HTC Mouse. The one on the Artemis or Touch Cruise.

Brilliant idea, please keep us informed on what happens with that mod.

Would it not be easier to steal the CAB from an omnia or i780 rom and see if it works? Would give it a go but not sure how.

I've found something that works...
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.com/fr/index.php?soft=758
But it's not much like a real mouse, or how I think it *could* work with the optical joystick. It moves around like it does in Opera mini, I think SE have coded the drivers to make it more useful in scrolling up/down/left/right through menus, rather than to be used like a mouse.
I wonder if someone can create a program that reads the data directly from the sensor rather than through whatever drivers (HID?) are currently being used.
e: Has anyone found a way to boost the optical sensor's sensitivity in the registry? That'd help a little. It takes ages to move around the screen atm.
e II: It's certainly not perfect; the transparency of the pointer causes problems with menus. also I noticed that the pointer is taking commands from both the optical sensor and the directional buttons around it. I wonder if SE really have made the drivers so that the optical joystick only emulates the directional buttons.

I've got an i780 and the FingerMouse on it was truly awesome - allowing for genuine one-handed use and setting it apart from the rest of the WM crowd. I've now "upgraded" to the X1 and while a lot of the problems have been fixed by Jack's Rom, getting the optical mouse working as a cursor will be what stops going back to the i780!
I've copied the attached dll and fingermouse.exe app if anyone can make any use of it. I'm afraid I have no developer skills whatsoever, but if someone can talk me through anything else that's required off my i780, I'll happily oblige There's also the full i780 rom kitchen here:

Thank you so much, been waiting for someone to post this. I'll happily send a donation to anyone who gets this working.

I'd love to get this working properly too, it'd be especially useful for some games... COD2 with real "mouselook" on a phone would be fantastic.
btw this is the real fingermouse

Single keypress gives double letters

Several times when typing with the keyboard on my Tilt I've found I get double letters when I only press the key once. Is that common? Is there an adjustment for this?
Perhaps you need to re calibrate your device as perhaps when you did it the first time, you calibrated your device in such a way that made your screen too touch sensitive
I guess he means on the physical keyboard, not on the touchscreen. This happens to me too and I find it mildly annoying, especially if I'm in a hurry. I'd love to find a fix for it.
There was another thread describing the exact opposite behaviour, but I haven't played around with the settings yet.
Robert
Ooops- My bad.
Same here, especially with the "d" key and sometimes multiple repeats not just doubles. Other keys doing it also. Thought at first it was sticky, but thats not it.
Rfka01 is dead on, of course. I'm referring to the hardware keyboard.
I looked for a 'repeat rate' setting or such to see if that would fix it, but can't find any setting of that nature.
Hi, did you check the thread I linked you to? They are toying around with registry settings for keyboard repeat rates. ATM I don't have enough time to try it.
Robert
Sorry - I was trying to help find the keyboard repeat rate setting and thought that I knew where it was and failed.
Message removed.
I think we all know the real problem - keeping it in the family a bit too much eh?

Are you a GTA fan Vijay? Nice. I'm almost through with the story mode in GTA4.
Another thing I think the button repeat rate setting applies to the keyboard reapeat rate. So adjust that and it might help.
[offtopic]
@juiceppc - to tell you the truth, I haven't played it and am trying desperately NOT to! I'm rebuilding my PCs and "upgrading" from Vista to XP, so shuffling 2 terabytes of data around, accumulated over years of coding and hacking, is taking weeks and weeks
As soon as I finish, I'll get back on my xbox 360 and give it a go.
Do you like it? (better respond offtopic, I shouldn't be polluting threads)
V
For some reason, the keyboard repeat rate is actually tied to the volume up/down control settings. Go into your Setting, Buttons, Up/Down Control page, and twiddle the "Delay before first repeat" setting. That should fix it.

The game is sick! A technical achievement of this decade IMHO.
Yes, this is a frustrating reoccurring issue. Sometimes it'll even give you double letters of two of the first letters in a word, for example, "like ththis." It's especially ridiculous when it happens to only two letter words, like "to" for example, which results in "I'm going toto the movies."
I've filed a report with Google, so please visit the link and star and add your own testimony if you wish. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14755
I even made a video demonstrating the problem to show Google. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUZdvr6Pdjk

BAF GPS Toggle works but needs visual correction, help!?

Hi,
I have been using BAF GPS Toggle for a few weeks now and it works great.
I am also using the HTC Touch Pro (see signature) which has VGA
Resolution: 480x640
Colours: 65536
The button/icon is small and the Today space is about half the space of other Today plugins/features. Thus I need my stylus to turn it on or off. The fonts are however regular size and thus cut off halfway by the size of the plugin. This means I am sometimes guessing... is that 1 satelite or 7... I'm sorry, I don't have the ability to do a screenshot as I am travelling. I suspect the issue could be solved if the (status) icon is larger for this kind of screen size. (guessing)
(Note I believe the HTC Touch HD has XVGA and its GPS performance could certainly use this plugin as I understand from their owners)
Performance:
Great! (I am using original ROM and Radio, see signature) It picks up satelites almost immediately and this overcomes the slow searching and fixing that other programs use. I've used a few GPS programs to test them out. Both regular car GPS software like Tom Tom and my favourite Route66 as well as off-road software like GPS Tuner... It works great with all and I would advice this clean (low memory) software to any HTC Touch Pro user... (even with the small sized Today plugin as it is)
www.baf.cc developed this and says he has no time to update a fix soon. Is there another way for us (HTC Touch Pro users) to fix this ourselves?
Anyone has a fix/suggestion?
Thanks,
How to adjust today screen to fit GPS Toggle program? (or reverse)
Hi there,
(note: After install, first use gives error 21 and won't activate. After it will work as it should, HTC Touch Pro)
Listen, Robert Ferris created a great little tool. I really use it all the time. However, as you can see in my screenshot it does not go well with VGA visually. It is really difficult to open and start with a stylus as the space is very limited and often I open an adjoining program/function....
As Robert seems to be busy I think it is up to us to make the necessarey adjustments. If I want to do that,... Where do I need to make adjustments, how can I change the today line to fit the text? Where are the images, so I can increase their sizes? And would that do it?
Not only would it make a solution, but it would be fun to learn to do this myself as well.

Does anyone know of a GPS toggle app for WM, that is not a Today Screen item like this one, but a simple executable file?
I would like to know this as well.
try spacer
use this to stop activating other plugins
Simple blank plugin to allow spacing other plugins on the Today Screen

and to get rid of the lines . . . . .

Putting Multitouch to Good Use

Hi Everyone,
I've been recently thinking a lot about multi touch and where it stands on Android. I know with some roms we're starting to get multi touch browsers although to me this... "apple's way" is pointless.
I'd rather press Zoom in or Zoom out or double tap on a section than use 2 fingers and drag them apart or "pinch". I fail to see how this is making things easier to do infact in my opinion it's making them more complicated.
Anyway, I thought I'd start this topic as a sort of "brainstorm" where we can all pitch in ideas and ways as to how multi touch can help or improve phone functions. Who knows maybe one of the many talented developers on here will adopt an idea and put it to work.
So far I've come up with:
- Multi touch Answer
When someone calls, you're presented with the incoming call screen. It would be a nice feature to be able to answer or reject using multitouch. This idea is incredibly simple, tap the screen with 1 finger to answer a call. Tap the screen with 2 fingers to reject a call. May not be that beneficial to android as it has a call and call reject button however on windows mobile devices it would be a nice addition.

well multitouch actually lets you choose your zoom in and out level. i.e. sometimes i just want to zoom in a little further on the hero rom i am running. or zoom out a little. multitouch is very useful.. letting me choose how i want to see things. in both emails and browser.
and i dont think the calling idea is good. some people may pull out their phones from the pocket or purse and touch the screen and accidently answer a call..or reject.
I saw an article on Engadget that was preceeded by this image:

The center image gives an idea of multitouch controls for an emulator.
Mulitouch on googlemaps would be sooooooo cooooool.
I would like to have multi touch for image browsing/zooming the way the iPhone does. Having it for emulators like the one mentioned above would be sweet too.

[App] Awesome G-sensor animated lock application

Hi guys,
found this great lock application in the web so though of sharing this to the community
This is a unique lock application created by Prompt Mobile Center for Omnia i8000/Omnia 2, featuring colorful butterfly, humming bird and funny yellow man which moves according to the movement of your device. (G-sensor)

}
Inspired by the nature, this lockscreen application features a colorful background.
The device sensor senses the movement of the device and changes the background and the butterfly/humming bird motion accordingly.
This 3D background also changes according to the time of the day. By simply tilting the device back, the screen shows missed calls, messages, or mail information received while it was locked. When the user touches the screen, the bird flies to the touched point. Touching the screen long enough unlocks the device.
S’Skin Lock Application has a setting menu to set locking time and screen backlight.
Whereas, this little funny “Yellow Man” character will move according to the movement of the device. “Yellow Man” walks, falls and hits the wall as the device moves. (i like this the most)
Check out S'skin lock in action:

(not sure if this works on other WVGA device. If anyone ever tried it please give your feedback. Thanks in advence)
Edited: Seems like not working in WVGA HTC device. Wish there's any expert who can port it to HTC device.
Looks very nice.
The only thing missing is "lock when incoming call" but first I will test it.
Touch HD
It doesn't seem to work on the Touch HD
I'm missing a shortcut in program files. If i go to the prohram folder I can start the settings. The lock screen isn't started.
You are using fluid and a swf file, nice
thats what i get as well
Doesn't work on the Touch Pro 2 When I lock it just shows the Windows Mobile lockscreen.
Anyone know how to get this working please?
Hi, dosen't work in HD2, may need change in reg something.
i think this aplication dosent work because the new lockscreen of WM, if change for old style maybe works...
um...not working in diamond 2 either
Doesnt work on diamond running 6.5
Damn looks cool.
Working Skin, Not Application
This appears to be a samsung add on. The LOCK application that comes with the samsung phone previewed is different. Now....If we can only dump the lock app from the samsung, this app would be lovely..... any volunteers??

Apple Magic Trackpad

Just for fun, since I hadn't tried it in a while on any older devices, I paired my magic trackpad to the N7. It pairs as a controller rather than a mouse in Jellybean, and it supports multitouch! Take a look at my 5 fingers. Instead of a cursor you get circles like when debugging touchscreen is turned on. Of course, without any hdmi output, this is not likely to become a dockable laptop replacement, but the same should work on my gnex. Portable multi touch workstation!
The major problem is that it still in mouse mode as far as tracking movement -- in other words, you have to keep sliding and releasing rather than picking the exact spot on the touch pad to correspond with the screen.
Enjoy!

Could be something cool incorporated into ROMs in the future settings wise.
I got my trackpad to pair just fine with the Gnex, but the Nexus 7 doesn't see it on a bluetooth scan. What idiot check am I forgetting to perform?
BTW, as much as I hate apple, the magic trackpad is a wonderful input device. I wish there was an android purposed alternative.
Edit: Must press power button a little longer to get trackpad into discovery mode. Carry on.

2010 White Macbook
Hey guys, so I just installed android on to my macbook and it's working good and the wifi works but one weird thing is that the trackpad is recognized as a touch screen so it's kind of difficult to use. Is there anyway I could change it to recognize the trackpad as a mouse? Thanks for any help
On my Mega 6.3 Android 4.4.2 it recognises the trackpad as a mouse device with some mac adress, then reads its name - trackpad bla bla, and then works as multitouch trackpad with multiple pointers according to the quantity of fingers I use. If something is nt working, you probably have to reset it properly. Reset means something like radical unpairing and longer power button pressing until android ask a pin code for pairing.

I am trying now also to make multi touch work with my magic trackpad 2 on android 4.4.2 (Zenfone 5). I pair successfully, but can only move the cursor / click, no multi touch.
I looked around for ways to perform a reset on magic trackpad 2 (that doesn't have a power button) and couldn't find any...
Any ideas / leads for me will be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
