Anyone knows there registry entries? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I don't know if this is the right forum to get the answers, mods feel free to move
Today i looked a bit into the registry and found these:
("Launche r" is Launcher withouth the space in my registry)
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager\Launcher]
"WaitTime"=dword:0000C350
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager\Launcher\6]
"Module"="\\Windows\\Voxmobili\\Voxsync\\SyncManager.exe"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager\Launcher\5]
"CmdLine"="a"
"Module"="\\Windows\\ConnectionSetupAuto.exe"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager\Launcher\4]
"Module"="\\Program Files\\Downloads\\Stub_Main.exe"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager\Launcher\3]
"Module"="\\Windows\\nbOrangePhotoCM.exe"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager\Launcher\2]
"Module"="\\Windows\\HTCVolumeControl.dll"
"Info"=dword:00000000
"Index"=dword:00000000
"Prefix"="VOL"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\TaskManager\Launcher\1]
"Info"=dword:00000000
"Module"="\\Program Files\\F-Secure\\Anti-Virus\\fssvcdll.dll"
"Index"=dword:00000000
"Prefix"="FSS"
I looked at my original HTC Task manager package in my kitchen.
Package comes from RUU_Diamond_HTC_WWE-ME_1.93.456.2_Radio_Signed_Diamond_52.29.25.12_1.00.25.05_Ship.exe
The .rgu file from this package has the same registry entries with Voxsync\\SyncManager.exe, \\ConnectionSetupAuto.exe, \\Stub_Main.exe, nbOrangePhotoCM.exe and Anti-Virus\\fssvcdll.dll.
Are these the links for programs in program tab in manila? I thought they were in the manila key in registry...
Anyone who knows what these files are and what they do?
And more important how do they get in registry information (RGU file) from an official HTC Rom?
Thanks in advance

connectionsetupauto.exe
Hello,
I am wondering about this file too. After rebooting the machine and looking in the taskmanager, I saw this process running! Then while I was looking on the net for its details, the process dissappered from taskmanager! And I thought that's really weird and started looking for info on the file. It's under windows folder. I ran airscanner antivirus but didn't get caught. I still want to know of its validity! Will keep searching..

.cab queries

Hi,
I need some assistance. I am currently cooking my extended rom. My Extended rom does not have enough space so, i am putting some of my MUST HAVE softwares in my storage so that it installs after a HARD RESET.
But, most .cab files will auto delete upon launch. Is there any way to make
it not delete ? Kindly assist.
Thanx a million
You can avoid the CAB files being deleted by making them read-only.
Well i mean that there is a Registry hack that will not delete .cab's on installation, but you would have to make a .cab with that registry setting and install it as the first thing after hardreset, although i dont think it will work since the registry is already loaded, and the new setting require a reboot to work.
Look in Wiki for registry hacks.
So why dont you just Write protect the .cab's that you want to hold on to

i have tried that but, dont work
All my "wanna hang on to" .cab's are write protected, and non of them get deleted upon installation.
Manuel installation that is.

I have room enoughf in my ExtRom, so I have never auto installed from other than the ExtRom.
But I'm almost 100% sure that there was a topic on auto installing from \Storage (Card) sometime ago.
Maybee youll find some info in the Wiki

well, i dont seem to find anything of what i am looking for
Wait a day or two, maybe someone who knows come along.
You can use a software name Cabinst wich let you install a cab without deleting it.
Easy.
Hi,
Easiest way is to make cab read only. Browse the storage card using PC via activesync. Right click on cab file. Go to properties and make it readonly.
You can also change the deafult beahvior of Instal by changing registry key.

in browsing my editor i stumbled upone these :
Code:
[\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Apps\Microsoft Application Installer]
fAskDest=0
fAskOptions=0
fEnablCef=0
nDynamicDelete=2
Supported="PALM PC"
* fAskDest=1 gives you a popup when you install a CAB so you can install on Storage Card for example
* fAskOptions=1 asked before overwriting, haven't found out if/what other options
*fEnableCef : I haven't messed around with that
* nDynamicDelete=0 and the CAB file remains, =1 it disappears but what the difference with the default value 2 is I couldn't figure out.
So if anyone else wants to experiment with it and post their findings
I searched Google but all I could find was about fAskDest

keep the ext rom empty,
after reboot hack the reg to point to new area.
Run the autorun from threre.
Have all files as read only.
info under
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=83119#83119
Only problem is that all cabs are installed in the default location.
I have yet to get cabinstall to run in batch mode using the nscript tool.
Hope its what you are after

Does PHM Registry Editor work with WinMobile 6?

Hi all,
I've tried many times to load PHM Registry Editor on my Kaiser with Windows Mobile 6 without success.
Does PHM Registry Editor work with Windows Mobile 6? If not, is there another one that may work?
Thanks,
Phil
Works for me
My installation worked.
mine too.. it is actually one of the few that did work, and pretty good.

It does work, give us some more details and let's see if we can help.
How far do you get?
Is it a Cab or Exe?
Do you get any error messages?
etc
Alternative - perhaps Total Commander using the //plugins directory.

Details
Hi,
Okay, that's good news to me, it will work, and it's just me
Here's the details; When I goto http://www.phm.lu/downloads/download.aspx?{940B734A-C437-41C7-ADED-2A4418802FD3}
to download, I've downloaded the ActiveSync (twice) and the CD Redistribution links and tried installing from within the phone and off my laptop via USB and each time I gotten an error on the phone saying the file is not recognizable. What am I doing wrong here?
Cheers,
Phil

Ok. From this site:
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Choose this one from the list:
Pocketpc 2002 2003 arm/pxa
Move the unopened cab file to device with AS explorer function.
Tap it to install. (I have mine installed to SD card)
Mike
I have a really good reg editor here if you need it.
(Got it from.... a tool pack)
Since the upload doesn't allow this type of file... i had to zip it
anyway put it on the device of your htc phone and run it from there.
Note: its not an install, its an actual application
Another good reg editor is resco, and total commander.
(total commander's registry is in the root //)
Hi,
Wow, thanks. That worked without a hitch and I opened it up successfully on the phone. Thank you Mike, great help and right to the point. What did I miss? How would I have known that the 'PocketPC 2002.2003 (ARM/PXA)' was the file I needed for a HTC TyTNN II with Windows Mobile 6?
No to look at some of those useful edits, after a complete registry back up of course.
Cheers,
Phil

Just for general info on downloading file types:
Many sites offer a choice of different application file types to download I always go for the CAB file rather than the EXE file. The CAB file you install by putting it on the SD Card and tapping it. The advantage is that if you ever need to re-install you do not need your PC, just tap on the CAB again to install it.
For this and most devices nowadays you should choose:
ARM files
POCKETPC or PPC files (not smartphone)
WM5 or WM6 may also be stated. Most WM5 apps will work on WM6 and many WM 2003 apps will also work.
Nearly always if it's an EXE download then this is meant to be opened on the PC with the device connected by AS or Device Centre. Very occassionally you will come across an EXE that has to be put on the device and then run. (these rare files usually have a statement telling you to do this).
Thanks Mike, great info and very useful.
Cheers,
Phil

I dont know what is PKG.exe, but I can tell you its safe to remove it from statrup.
Found this strange file also in the startup folder of the HTC Touch Cruise. Might be safe to delete, but I don't think they put it in there just for fun
Anyone any idea?
google has all of 3 links about this, surely a chef will know?
So what is now the pkg.exe? I can't find anything with google, sorry...
thanks for the answer,
cj182
Google has way more than 3 links but none really answer the question. I am not a programmer but it appears that it is a generic executable to launch a package (pkg) of plugins\programs. "Pkg.exe" is used in several different applications and that is why I refer to it as "generic". It looks like it does similar function in different installs. Not much help, I know, but I tried.
I deleted PKG.lnk from the Startup folder on my Touch HD and then soft reset it. It doesn't seem to change anything as far as I can tell.
Wondering the same thing myself.
Found this in an old hyperdragon ROM thread:
pkg.lnk:
shortcut to pkg.exe. Psst don't tell anyone, it will run any application named "pkgautorun.exe" located in \Storage Card\2577 then the system will automatically delete pkg.lnk. Safe to delete.
Ok. that was a bit kryptic. No help at all really. lol.
I have it as well - you all dont have tomtom installed do you? I do remember Tomtom install executed files in \Storage Card\2577 but only the 1st time when installed

TF3D Software

Sorry to ask. I tried the search but came up short. Im looking to hard boot the touch pro, then soft boot before "customization". I am looking for the tf3d program to install. All i want is the TF3D program on the phone. Can someone help with a link or file for me to dl? Thanks in advance.
if the rom you have would normally have tf3d on it and you are skipping the customizations then it's there, in the windows folder. Search for a thread in called "skipping the bloat". In that thread there are instructions on which cabs to run from /windows to reinstall tf3d.
Thank you very much. i would have never thought of that search title. the search works great as long as you know exactly what to type in it. Thanks again

File Dialog Changer & WM 6.5

Does File Dialog Changer from here http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-Cupertino/2039/ , work for you with a WM 6.5 ROM?
it doesn't work at all for me. And if i try to disable it to reenable it later, the device freezes.
not work any more.
any ideas?
Got the same freeze. Its functionality seems to be broken in WM6.5...
i guess we need to wait for an update from the developer.
Since it hasn't been updated in years I guess were out of luck.
Is there any alternatives that work with 6.5?
Default file dialog is from category "nonsense" / "ridiculous", especially if you have a huge flash card full of mp3's, it will take minutes before you be able use your phone after opening that file dialog.
still don't understand why 6.5 sticks to that old file dialog
Is there a solution now for changing the system file dialog in WM6.5? This standard thing is absolutely crap.
I don't understand why microsoft still use this file dialog.
Thanks,
Markus
There IS a WM6.5 fix for filedialogchanger
The mad programmer DID update his program for WM6.5, it's now version 1.66'.
Get the two files (filedlgchg.cpl and the internationalised gsgetfile.dll) here:
http://www.geocities.jp/hou_ming_2/filedlgchg_WM6_5.zip
http://www.geocities.jp/hou_ming_2/gsgetfile-i.zip
then copy it to your \Windows directory.
I've mirrored the files below since the mad programmer's geocities server sometimes spasms.
You can read his translated page here:
http://www.geocities.jp/hou_ming_2 (translated
BTW I tested this with WM6.5.5.
test on htc hd2?
Has anyone tried this on the HTC HD2 or another HTC phone with Sense?
Thanks
