3D Accelerated games on Touch Pro - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

Let's talk about 3D accelerated games that WORK on Touch PRO.
So far I've tested 2 games.
- Quake III Arena (low framerate ~5FPS, sometimes ~9-12).
- Call of Duty (not perfect but quite ok, the sound & music is jerky)
Please, keep the topic limited to 3D hardware accelerated games.
I'm using ATI D3D drivers (irrelevant because the listed games are using OPenGL)

Ancient Evil,
it's a Diablo-like RPG and has even 3D realtime rendered shadows

Chopper Flight
Skyforce Reloaded
Snow Rally Canada 1.1
Volcano Island
Tomb Raider
SPV Duke3d
and that's all i can think of right now...
also, i run a playstation emulator (games that i own) but it doesn't use hardware acceleration as of yet (the developer stopped working on it)... fpsce i think is what its called... if anyone knows of a PS1 emulator that uses hardware acceleration that would be grrrrreat.

Call of duty 4 is out for PPC

Do you really like to play this games with the pen? Would be better with buttons I think. (or maybe a combo).

tony hawk 2 and virtual pool mobile dont work

TheTruth, are you sure that Skyforce Reloaded use HW acceleration? I don't think so .
Here's a video showung quake 3 arena in action on the touch pro: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=x8_wfWaYa_w
As you see, it's not smooth at all. In some arenas work better, in some worse.
For more information about Touch Pro performance please follow this topic (also videos comparison between multiple devices)

DSF - have you tried the new 3D drivers? Do they impact performance on games at all? I know it changes the hologram app but that's just a toy...

what is? quake 3???

@mikeeey of course not.. he's talking about the VR hologram application.
@bugsykoosh yeap, i've said that in my first post. However, Quake 3 for example, is using OpenGL CM not Direct3D.
Anyone got THPS2 running hardware accelerated? I only got software renderer . It seems that Touch Pro/Diamond lacks HW OpenGL CL library (libGLES_CL.dll)
About Call of Duty2.

Also, I made a strange discovery about the sound. If you start the game twice, then kill the first one, the second one carries on with sound fixed! See if it works for you. Only useful if you play it a lot. If so, and it works, you could maybe do something with Mort Script.

nope, i installed it and it didnt work. may need to move dlls around or something maybe?

Prince of Persia HD runs, but it seems to be around 15fps. Is there a FRAPs for WinMo? I tried Top Gear and it runs at like 5fps, quite sad.

You need libGLES_CL.dll, HTC Touch Pro/Diamond have only libGLES_CM.dll. So these devices lacks libGLES_CL.dll hardware accelerated library
If you get the SW version that's bundled with libGLES_CL.dll allowing sofware rendering..
@shinydiamonds that game is not using hardware acceleration. Maybe it's using DirectDraw..
This topic is only for games which are using hardware acceleration.

Ok, now with the help of NuShrike libgles_cl forwarder we can play other Dell Axim x51v compatible games. (even if the framerate is not perfect)
Yes, I've got THPS2 running in hardware accelerated mode.
Download libgles_cl :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415523
Later edit: unfortunately it's not that playable. sluggish, low FPS (even in low quality) .
It runs so smooth on the del axim x51v ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KS4PVS6_8U

CorePlayer Mobile v1.1.x Qtv Edition (for Tilt / Kaiser Owners) released ...

Hi Guys,
CoreCodec has released a pre-update of CorePlayer that should fix most of the video playback issues on our devices ...
Can someone who is authorized to download the update confirm that it works smooothly with htc Kaiser ?
All owners of CorePlayer 1.x should be able to update for free ...
The Link to the thread in CoreCodec board is here :
http://www.corecodec.com/forums/index.php?topic=669.0
Thomas
I just downloaded it on my Touch. So far with the one file i actually had on my Touch the QTV driver shows the video with a black screen. The file plays when I have GDI. I was assuming the Touch may use the same QTV driver. But I think I remember somewhere that BetaBoy wrote that this was for Mpeg4 files only. So i'll look. I was able to run a bench mark using the GDI and QTV settings though. QTV did about 10% higher on this small file.
Hum... I'm currently testing it with a 640x340 xvid file and it seems pretty fluid. Don't really know if I'd say the playback is flawless.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing this news.
I downloaded and installed on my Kaiser.
It feels like my device is much more responsive now!
Also the Touchscreen feels more responsive!
THIS FEELS GOOD
Am I grazy and the only one or what?
Regards,
Leo
Uhm, why would this make the touchscreen more responsive?
You tell me...
It does!

Please send a sample of the video via www.yousendit.com to [email protected] so we can take a look at it... thx!!
FYI.... also the speed difference will ONLY be available within CorePlayer itelf when playing back ANY video (not just ASP). Although ASP plays pretty damn flawless based on the early feedback.

Beta Boy it turns out it isn't the file. I even tried a couple of different mpeg 4 files encoded at 640x480. They play fine if I have it set to GDI but the second I put QTV on it plays black and the player becomes unresponsive. Now I do have the Vogue Touch which uses the CDMA verison of the Kaiser chipset. The case might be that the changes that were made to core media work on the kaiser only so far.
So theoretically, this proggy should play the videos fine, and utilize the unused hardware?
Is there a demo of this bychance, that we can test on our devices. I would gladly get the software if I could see that it works on my phone.

Even though my touch can't take advantage of the QTV driver. I do have to admit. This is a real clean player. I've only used the beta's before for youtube, but really like this version leaps and bounds beyond even windows media player. Looks like I gotta relink all my sprint links to go to this player instead of Windows Media. I have to admit this version plays videos better than the others did even in GDI mode.
It's a great program. Hopefully there is something small missing for the Vogue to work with the QTV video mode, but for now in GDI mode it's still leaps and bounds above what I had before. Now gotta figure out how to get youtube to work with this.
you know, both you guys at XDA-Dev as well as the CoreCodec people seem to be trustworthy enough. I'm currently RMAing my cracked phone. So I'll lurk this topic to see if its worked on other peoples phones. If the results seem positive. Then It'll be the first bit of software i install on the new Tilt that'll come in.
beta_boy--Thanks
Hi beta_boy,
Because of your support for our issues, I purchased CorePlayer for our device , but am a vid newb, so having issues, I'll check out the forums on your site.

Post a bit more info please.
Compare different video files in format/bitrate you have already tried without changing anything else on your device. Subjective will do for the moment as most on here will only be happy with a 'visual' improvement as benchmark figures are no substitute for 'bloody great improvement' !!
Need to know this info (drooling at the mouth at the moment!!)
Many thanks.
Just downloaded it. Looked at two different movies, one in MP4 and one in M4V format. Subjectively they look better, playback was smooth as was motion. Hard to quantify of course (and there is likely a placebo effect)e but overall I'd say it's an improvement.
edit nevermind

Is the driver issue fixed?

Just one quick question, does the Diamond have the same driver issue that the Tytn II has?
If not, will the Touch Pro also have the driver installed?
If it does I will certainly go and buy it as soon as it cames out here in Sweden!
Thanks!
no driver issue
I can play smoothly a 640x480 DivX @800kbps with Coreplayer and play Call of Duty 2 (full 3D) at maximum quality

Doesn't make any difference at all... This is a opengl (gl_es) game, the ati driver is a d3d driver...
WOW fantastic game, as good as some of the racers on my PSP and smooth as silk
Wont run if I have TF3d turned on but then I am using Rhodium
Also tried to change the .ini file to 480x640 but it does nothing in the game.
Lets have more of this development please

Doom and Quake etc wvga

Dear all
I've been tracking the various wvga devices now available for windows mobile and there still seem to be lacking some good applications and games for the wvga resolution. Does anyone know if there are wvga versions of classics such as doom, duke nukem and quake for the xperia?
Regards
Andy
Yes .
Yes there are. Do a search for "quake ppc" on google or through the forum search. They don't run particularly well, not many full screen games do, I personally don't think the x1 will ever have enough cpu/gpu grunt to run much well on the 800x480 screen.
Quake 3 arena gets 5 to 15 fps and it is playable ive played the first 4 maps, altho i cant give you the link..
Oh and that quake 3 that im talking about does not work in landscape mode so you have to use it with the dpad.. that kinda sucks..

[GAMES] HTC Butterfly s gaming thread

Post all gaming discussion here.
Currently I have mostly runner games (Temple Run, Minion Rush, Robot Unicorn Attack 2), PBA Bowling Challenge, Real Racing 3 and Fast & Furious 6 but I usually just play the runner games. Unfortunately RR3 does not run in 1080p but at a rather low resolution; I hope EA fixes this soon. FIFA 14 works though there are some occasional issues with the loading screen in the beginning (sometimes the app crashes or the whole system hangs and I must do a reset)
What games would you recommend for the HTC Butterfly s? For me I would prefer free games.

Here is my list what I've played on Butterfly S (all tested and fully working):
Contre Jour, Rayman Jungle Run (prefer this runner over all others), Townsmen, Anomaly Korea, Minion Rush, Iesabel, Aralon, Wild Blood, Dungeon Hunter 4, Bard's Tale, Angry Birds (although Angry Birds support FullHD, I'd rather play in HD - icons are too small).
Don't know what games are free, as I download them from 4pda site.
I have found a temporary fix for Real Racing 3's low resolution issue using Ultimate Rotation Control, a similar fix was found for the new Nexus 7 by another user (the only difference is that for the Butterfly s it must be set to "forced auto").
Install "Ultimate Rotation Control", and set it to "forced auto", then run the game holding your phone vertical position on the loading screen (it will hang) before rotating it. Enjoy! There doesn't seem to be any anti-aliasing, but it runs at a much higher resolution
It's rather tedious because Sense 5 UI does not properly support landscape mode and you may also accidentally rotate the phone back to portrait mode, but you can briefly go back to the home screen and change the Ultimate Rotation Control on your status bar to "auto" and quickly get back to your game.

Another note: Does anyone here play Blitz Brigade? It always crashes on the title screen on mine =/ On Play Store I see one reviewer who gave the game a good review so that suggests it might work on some devices...
I can confirm that Asphalt 8 is now officially supported on the Butterfly s, but like Real Racing 3, it does not seem to run at the full 1080p, but it doesn't look that bad (for RR3 I tried fiddling with the settings but it always looked low res, yet it still lags).
However I am having some touch input problems especially with the top side of the phone (the left side if you rotate it to horizontal position). Maybe it's because I have a screen protector that is not oleophobic and sweat registers a touch input, but I've seen other users complain of this problem too (see the PhoneDog comparison with HTC One)
GT Racing 2 runs fine and renders in 1080p.
The lack of 1080p rendering is not uncommon with newly released games on some devices also GS4 and Nexus 7 but I think HTC may need to do something about it.
Unfortunately the ultimate rotation control app only works for seven days and I can't find another app with the "force rotate" option.

nope, RR3 needs a Force Rotation option.
I think the low-resolution rendering of some games has to do with the lack of support for OpenGL ES 3.0... I really hope we get an update soon... =/
It seems they're focusing on the One line and not so much on the Butterfly s but I think our chances are faster than Droid DNA/Butterfly because our device is newer, and it's an unlocked device unlike the DNA.

Do games look better on 4.3? Does Asphalt or Real Racing 3 render in 1080p?
