RGU files missing! - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
This is probably just a simple noob question but anyway
When i extract a rom in kovskykitcken and tries to build it, buildos says it's missing all the rgu files in the original packages. Do someone have a simple solution to this?

Are you extracting from an OEM ROM? If not, some chefs protect their ROMs by merging all of the RGU files into one big file at the time of cooking.

It's the same in both the original oem and jack's

I found one that works, thank you for your help

I removed all the RGU to keep the rom as clean as possible and I am NOT building my rom based on the kitchen method.

Okey, great to know

on xperia removal of rgu means little on storage (but it ment a great deal when I had my Herald )
But there are many rgu files, and deleting them speeds up the process of opening/browsing windows dir on your device.

Yeah, every little bit count here.

Yeah i noticed how really long time it takes to browse the win dir on the device, is it a simple process? could it be done with a kitchen or is there any other tool you need?
I'm also really curious about the tools you use to build your roms?

EBO (Easy Bake Oven) On Hold - Update 11/26/07

11/26/07 update:
I've placed the project on hold for a while. I've been too busy to work on it and so instead, I'm working on an optimized ROM for my Wing. I might end up just using that ROM as the base ROM. It's based on the Touch-IT.
Update: Still working on release v0.4. So far, so good. No bugs found, yet.
Success! Tested AND Working flashed on my Wing!!!
Here it is! Version 0.3
All the passwords are: "ding"
Step one:
Download the Kitchen files:
Save them somewhere, say a folder called "Ivan's Kitchen."
Step two:
Download the OEM and SYS folders:
Dump them into the Working_Folder within the EasyBakeOven folder that you extracted on the first step.
Step three:
Download the ROM folder and follow the same instructions as step two.
Step four:
Download the Packages into the OEM folder.
Step five:
Run the RunMe file. Choose if you want the BioTouch. Choose if you want Office. Check what programs you want. Click on the little green "play" button. When it says "Done." at the bottom, close that window and follow the prompts.
This is a BuildOS kitchen. Download the packages and just double click on the batch file I made you.
Make sure you have enough harddrive space... I tried it on my laptop and I kept getting REALLY small os.nb files. lol
Now I just need someone to make me some good atwork... or I can make one myself.
BUGS Fixed:
V0.3
Camera Packages - Removed the camera packages and restored the original camera.
CommManager Packages - Updated their registry to reflect the Herald's wifi.
Removed Touchflo ghost icon. It was a mistake from my end. It's an icon pointing to nothing.
V0.2
Too many to fix... Just ignore the fact that V0.1 ever happened...
If upgrading from the previous version:
Download these files and the file attached and overwrite the current set. Delete the two camera folders under the OEM folder.
If not, download the whole thing again.
If you downloaded the original broken Alpha release: Trash it. Download the newest one. That one had more holes that swiss cheese.
Bugs found and how to fix them.
I missed an extra file when I updated the camera fix. I'll fix it on the next release. For now just delete the file "Camera.lnk" from the OEM\OEMAPPS folder.
11/19/07 - Nevermind, I completely broke the camera again. I'll have it fixed soon. I'll have to look through the original ROM and find the missing files.
V0.4 Coming Soon!
Changes so far:
Fix extra camera.lnk
Set packages needed for a basic working ROM to be selected by default.
More packages!!
Thank you's goes to:
God for giving me the patience to work on this.
ITJE for his base ROM
LordPhong for his Touch-IT fixes
mattk_r for inspiring me with his kitchen and for most of the packages
Warning:
Any damages caused by your ROM to your phone is solely your resposibility. The chances of you really bricking your phone are slim to none. As long as it's a WING. I haven't tested this on anything else.
Also, if you have a 64bit OS: Don't even try to use the flashing tool. It will not work.
Packages and Screenshots
This kitchen's base ROM builds a 12mb pagepool.
You'll have to use the pagepool changer to get it to your liking.
I'll be listing all packages in a few hours.
Here are a few screenshots.

good ish, looking forward to it. One question, for the programs and tweaks, are you just going to include the most popular, or can requests/suggestions be made?
oh yes. very anticipated. This has the ability to JUST add biotouch, that is, without the cube? If so, mad props to you.
Also, two questions
1. Will I be able to change the base rom?
2. Can I get it to spit out the .nbh file from the RUU? Just for us CID-unlocked people?

I'm still working on the possibility of seperating.... we'll see...
As far as your questions go:
1. Yes.... BUT, you will have to STRIP the ROM down in order to avoid errors from the kitchen. (Not as hard as it sounds, mostly just searching for the duplicate files that the kitchen throws an error out for. Just time consuming.)
The base ROM is just that. Basic as can possibly be. If you want a newer version of the OS and are up to stripping down that ROM for my kitchen, I'll add it here without a problem. This is more of a collection of works from all parts of this community, so if anyone wants to add packages to the lot, porting over newer versions of wm6 or whatever it may be (like art work,) they're more than welcomed to.
Does it go "ding" when it's done?

Great work! Can't wait till its online.
The perfect solution for "cooking" your own Rom without the diffult (but most of all time consuming) proces of getting into Hypercore kitchen. Finally within the reach of my limited sparetime.
You could try to contact Itje about the differences between Wing and Herald?
Keep us posted on the proceedings!
Good Work!
Just one question.
Does it allow us to change the language?

I've being trying to PM every herald cook that I know of for a few weeks now, to no avail. No one has responded.
This sounds like a very, very good thing. I've been wanting something like this since I started playing with different ROMs.
very nice. morphgear?
nice work cant wait. have a question i have morphgear(nes emulator) and i actually paid for it. i was wondering since its an execution file can that be converted into a oem package for my own use with this kitchen?

ROM Cooking First Time - I HAVE SEARCHED and searched...

Hi,
Please could someone point me in the right direction on a tutorial/guide on how to use KovskyKitchen? If there isnt one at the moment then please let me know.
Furthermore could someone let me know how to rip/extract the baseROM from a UK Vodafone X1. I am completely new to this game but would like to make my X1 as lean as possible (really how I see fit), do worry I HAVE SEARCHED THE FORUMS but cant seem to find a definitive guide.

There isn't one for X1. But you could read the guide for kitchen for other device (Touch pro, kaiser ...etc) since all are basically the same.
Basically, you need to put the extracted nbh file in /baserom and run the command the to extract.
Or maybe you could try mine or itje's lite/clean rom to save yr time.
searched and searched but didn't bother reading a couple of threads down on here..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446382&page=2
to dump the rom you need itse rom tools and run pdocread.
if you type rom dump into the google search at the top it tells you how to do it.
I have dumped the vfuk rom, but the 4 raw files are even at maximum compression 250mb+ so I haven't had time to post them
When you have the 4 raw parts you stick one of the base ruu_signed.nbh roms that are already on this forum and put part2 & part3 raw files in the base rom folder of the kovsky kitchen, as said here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446382
Thanks for the advice, but...
Hi,
Thanks for the links fards.
Please could you describe to me what a nbh file is?
What does it do and where can I get one from?
Does this come from the ROM dump?
Thanks,
Phil

Just curious, but do you have any experience flashing ROMs yet? I have owned 3 XDA's and flashed many ROMs so I know a lot about the ROMs SPL's and such. Thats something you should be knowledgeable in. I am thinking about getting into cooking too now.
A nbh file is a ROM. The nbh is the product of your cooking, and the nbh is what you put into the RUU to flash to your device. You can get it from a ROM dump or you can download it from others.
It's always a good idea to just download the tools, start them up and take a look around. See what options are available and get familiar with them. From there start asking questions. It's a bit hard to answer if you're basically saying "tell me everything".

you're learning fast
all ive ever done is read the other device tutorials and had a play, although i did prefer the hypercore kitchen on the athena to the kovsky/kaiser based one.
but it does the job especially with the really neat options.xml generator
I am starting to learn to cook roms, does the HyperCore work for xperia? what kind of dump should i select? normal OS.bin (option 3)?

KovskyKitchen - Packages Editing/Removing

Hi,
Please could someone point me in the right direction for using KovskyKitchen. I have extracted many ROMs but when loading BuildOS, there is no packages under the 'BuildOS' tab. Is this correct?
As shown here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser ROM Kitchen Tutorial
There should be entries in the 'Packages to add to ROM' but I cannot see anything.
Furthermore please could someone tell me how to remove packages from a generic ROM, therefore making it lite (e.g. Office, Messenger, GPS...)
Thanks,
Phil

I don't think there's a package list so you need to create one to get a list in that prog (I think), but I've not got that kitchen in front of me at the mo..
Before I've just removed the package folders I don't want.
Thanks fards,
Is it safe then to delete folders from OEM + SYS.
If and when I rebuild this ROM, without the delted folders, do you know if it will still flash and work?
Also could I please ask which kitchen (if at all) you have used in the past for the X1?
Thanks,
Phil
yep that was about darans kovskykitchen
i really like using pofs linux rom kitchen, as I use ubuntu at work
haven't tried with x1 rom yet.but I will when I get a chance
I started cooking my rom. Pls tell me what to remove from OEM and SYS folder, and what to add
I believe its just a matter of preference, it how far you want to go in stripping your ROM and what you want to but back in. You should just be able to add CABs within KovskyKitchen.
Thanks,
Phil

Touch-IT v5.04 + MyFaves bug discussion

First of all, is anyone running T-Mobile USA, Touch-IT v5.04, and the MyFaves .cab having problems?
For reasons above my understanding, my phone will not connect to the MyFaves system. It just says "updating MyFaves" indefinitely. My online management says that it is waiting for my phone to respond, so something isn't connecting between the phone and the MyFaves on the T-Mobile network.
I couldn't find a solution in the 100+ pages of the Touch-IT v5.xx thread, so I'm hoping that someone with an answer can help here.
My bugs:
1. MyFaves MUST be set to "Display: off" or else it will not display properly (must go into the registry to force it up)
2. Changing the display mode will force the home tab and people tab off TF3D
3. Will not get past "Updating MyFaves". Obviously not properly connecting to the MyFaves system.
My install method:
1. Flashed Touch-IT v5.04
2. Installed the provided MyFaves .cab to device (as opposed to storage card)
3. Corrected the registry entry to force the MyFaves display up (as instructed in the Touch-IT v5.xx thread)
Maybe akp99 can help you
He made the cab.
You must understand that this is from a beta version of a USA T-Mobile Rom.
So we don't no if it works.
Maybe you can do some testing together with akp99
I've encountered the same behavior and only to be told, "it's been discussed"... A solution within the discussion would be perfect. Yes, I understand it beta and whatnot, but we CAN have our cake and eat it too. ;D
Well as this is designed to work on T-mob contracts then it's a bit tricky to work out what's happening when you're not on a t-mob system.
This is why I haven't bothered trying to get it to work, as there's no way I can test it, but I presume there must be some way that T-mob is checking your device to see whether you are entitled to use it. I guess the key will be to work out how they are checking that?
Looking at Akps cab I'd say he might have left out voxsync.exe as it's called by the NAB..
I'll cab up the entire NAB and see if that helps? Be aware looking at the Reg files this may well stuff up your SMS all over again as there's a hook like the jblend one.....
Okay here it is, I don't know exactly where the files go as the only reference I can find is to two files in /windows/voxmobili/voxsyncsync so that's where I've dumped them.
If this doesn't work, then try copying all the files to /windows from that folder as well.
This isnt itjes rom
I have tried to remidy this for along time and got barely any support.
the only solution to make my faves work for me was to cook my own rom.
using the same builds as itje except for any r3 oem packages my roms worked perfect with my faves. It actually updates your faves while its going through the first initial rom boot install.
heres my pic.
I was planning on releasing the rom but didnt know if there were any fellow my faves users. as all my posts in the rom thread were lost and ignored. i was helped by the cab creator but no real help from itje.
I made a touchpro2 port to 6.5 as in the picture, i have a 6.1 build but its missing some packages as i was figuring out the myfaves.

everything is in windows. except for the custom icons found from tmo those are my documents/my icons and i dont have nab cooked in or even installed.
So it looks like myfaves works better when cooked instead of installed via .cab?
I don't know, in theory it should be able to be added after 1st boot. so a cab should work
theres something either missing or not configured right.
shadowmike, it seems very odd that the nab isn't there in the cooked rom, as its called directly from the reg for myfaves
ill look later on at the packages in jerpeleas kitchen.
Had a look at the kitchen you used and the Nab files are there, are you sure you didn't cook them in?
there's a provxml that contains some certificates that are missing, you can try this through advanced config (but it may not work as it's a big file, but unzip it and give it a try).
I'm trying to make a cab from it (that's a first for me, a provxml into a winmo cab using linux!) but not got it right yet, so the other method might be better..
Absolutely no reason why it shouldn't - while it's not 100% there are plenty of other instances of standalaone MyFaves cabs working. Will also take a look later...

Just make sure the kitchen isn't only for CDMA! Make sure it can spit out a GSM ROM, too!
Good luck, new-found chef!
Hi I am trying to learn how to do this. I am trying to use the rollup builds from Da_g
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544445
but I do not know what to do with it. It seems like all the folders are just thrown together in one archive. When I am looking at the extracted HTC ROM they are separated. I am looking at some guides but they are a little confusing. One PDF says "Copy the build folder (23022 shown above) into the Kitchen\SYS folder" but the folders in the rollup archive are not arranged in the same way at all to what is already in there.
Any pointers?
EDIT: Nevermind I found the Dump Sorter program, very handy.
