vodafone officially support the sony uprade service - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

foget about flashing back to a vf rom, use seus instead!

Vodafone have ALWAYS suggested using SEUS for SE phones, because SE allow Vodafone to put their own "upgrades" on to the platform and a non-debranded phone will only install the Vodafone firmware.

Even though Kovsky is made by HTC I think sony ericsson gives more support for the devices rather than HTC.
HTC only know how to make Devices, Release them in the market. And then the users with problems can go to HELL.

Upgrading Treo 750v VODAFONE

Hi
I like to know the following... I won a Treo 750v
It is vodafone branded device. This device is running WM5 and I like to upgrade it to WM6.
I found the image to download on the Palm site. There is a VODAFONE image for the netherlands and a generic image.
What I wanted to ask:
1. If I upgrade from WM5 to WM6 with the VODAFONE IMAGE, do I loose the nice SMS gui that looks like a chatview and Do I loose the speeddailer add-in? Or is this not vodafone specific but just WM5 or WM6 specific.
2. When I upgrade with the VODAFONE image does this apply a simlock on the treo device?? The device now does NOT have a simlock but is still VODAFONE branded. Or should I upgrade with the generic Image?
I hope you understand the "problem" I have.... Love to software in the device wth WM5, want to upgrade to WM6 without loosing the nice SMS chatview and speeddailer, so I would choose the VODAFONE image. But also don't want to end up with a simlock so this would point to the generic image.... but this image may not provide the nice sms chatview and speeddialer.
Anyone an idea?
OK... Well I did some calling with vodafone and palm...
vodafone asured me that the phone wouldn't be simlocked with an update of the vodafone image on the palmsite....
After 3 chatsessions with palmsupport I finally spoke someone who would actually look into the papers about the speeddailer and threaded sms client
ANd also said it was included WM6...
SO I updated the device with the dutch vodafone image for WM6...
AND...
All turned out just fine!!! No simlock, got the speeddailer and the threaded sms client!!
The only thing vodafone did not tell me is, that now when I switch off and on the GSM radio I get and big fat vodafone LOGO on my device instead of a palm logo.....
Should have picked the generic ..... heheheh !!!

You can install the Generic update from here and follow this instruction to avoid unsupported device error. The Rest of the World English version has the latest in both OS and Radio version. The best news is, there's no "Big Fat Vodafone Logo" in it. Enjoy!

ROM Update from HTC

Hi I have a Euro Diamond from the UK and I just saw that HTC has an update on their website, I didn't want to do HARDSPL ROM flashing yet but is the official Diamond ROM update a good choice for now? I live in the US but the phone is from UK so do I choose that i live near US or UK and if I do update the ROM can I still flash the phone like HARDSPL and DUTTY's rom? Any hard reset required from the HTC ROM update?
If you've got an HTC branded device from the UK, then you'll be able to flash the new ROM (v2.03) without making any modifications to you device (i.e. Hard SPL). However, updating the ROM will remove everything you've added yourself... just as a hard reset, so back up all your files first.
It's well worth the update... TF3D is a lot faster, and there are a few other little tweaks too.

Need Help with installing R3AA firmware

R3A UK Generic?

Hello,
Just moved provider from O2 to Orange so thought I'd debrand the trusty old X1 and install the R3A Generic UK ROM.
Unfortunately the web site hosting the latest X1 original ROMs has blacklisted them as potentially copyright material (somebody might want to check this) so I couldn't download the R3A image.
The site hosting the R2A image was ok, though, so I thought I'd download the UK Generic R2A image and then just upgrade using the SEUS.
All went fine until I ran the SEUS which has informed me that I already have the latest image and that there is no newer image available.
Any ideas? I don't really want to have to put the O2 image back on to run R3A
Thanks!

check and dl here
Ed. I just learned the dl is currently prohibited, as rapidshare has the file locked due to possible legal reasons ("This file is copyrighted and may not be distributed without permission of the copyright holder. We will direct you to RapidMovies, where you can buy upcoming games and movies legally online."), that's tricky...
Yes, I'd noticed that the firmware had been blocked. Sorted it, anyway - seems that when you change the ROM you need to load the phone back up before SEUS realises you've changed it (even though the ROM was UK Generic R2A, SEUS thought it was UK O2 R3A!).
So, reloaded R2A, loaded the phone, went through setup, then ran SEUS on it and it's now on R3A UK Generic.
Done!

[Q] Recovering original software after flashing

Hi,
how can I recover original software (WM 6.1) using Sony Update Service after flashing and installing WM 6.5? Is there any way to 'unflash' it so Update Service will start detecting my device again? Now phone has no software and I need original polish WM 6.1 there.

Try reflashing using the Sony Ericsson Update Service. Try flashing back to Stock SPL (then to Hard SPL in you prefer) if it doesn't work.

As I said before unfortunatelly SE Update Service is not even detecting my X1 device so I'm gonna try flashing back to Stock SPL, can you link me to any step-by-step tutorial on this topic?
I flashed the Stock SPL image but SE Update Service is still not detecting my X1. Device appears in device manager normally, all drivers are installed correctly (I chcecked that on the other pc in case drivers on the first one were messed up) but Update Service still asks me to go to bootloader mode but when I do this it's not allowing me to go to the next step just like I haven't done it so I guess SE Update Service is unable to detect that my X1 is in bootloader mode.
