White Diamond. - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I want:

Me not, the front is black!!
greets doena

I agree, that black front is awful. Still, at least it meant they didn't have to change the TF3D theme.
It's an utter gimmick, attempting to copy another product in shoddy, half-arsed, cheapo fashion. Not unlike TF3D and the rest of their software, I would say.

I was not aware of the 2 colors, if it would of been white all over thats nice!

Looks nice but I think I will stick with a black one.

Color of your Kaiser

In the pictures all over the net, I see the Kaiser as either being completely black or being dark gray. Now I just received mine and it seems to be light silver/gray on the front side of the phone. What's up with that? Is it like this for everyone else or like, are there different versions going around?
yeah, mine is like that as well. i would have preferred all black, but i can't complain.
eric b
all black would have been great. i bet orange will make it like that, they always change the housing with a very good design !
agreed. Can that bit of plastic be removed? You could probably spray it with a black laquer quite easily if you could get it off without breaking it.
Anyone here how actualy does have a black kaiser? And is it still a 120 model?
Anyone knows who sells those black ones? All I see now are the silver models, and I would really like mine to be black.

this is the true colors of the HTC Kaiser:
my kaiser has a black rubbery back, black keyboard, black upper housing around the screen bit and a gray/silver brushed metal looking screen besel
yea like the post above ^^

I guess it depends on what you think of as "light grey / silver". I would say it's closer to gunmetal / dark grey than silver. It's probably one of the nicest designs I've seen on a phone of this type... IMHO.
All the unlocked ones are dark grey / black.
Now the T-Mobile version is most certainly silver.
The Black Kaisers are the 100 (without camera) and 110 (without 3G) they gonna released soon.
This is what mine looks like.

I'm looking at my Vario III right now, and it's most definitely NOT silver. It's a gunmetal/dark grey with a brushed steel effect on the front. Silver is very light coloured.
is the kaiser also known as the TyTN 2 or is that a different phone?

Kaiser is the development project name for the phone. TyTn II is the official release product name. Other names such as MDA Vario III are brand names used by certain carriers such as T-Mobile.

I have yet to see any pictures of all completely black Kaisers... And the 110 without the front camera is being sold by AT&T in the same housing (save the awful chrome buttons) as the full unlocked version. I am skeptical as to the existence of any "black" Tytyn IIs.

Black is like... the best color for any piece of electronics. I can't believe they'd just skip past it in favor of light silver/gray. What is this world coming to?!

Which is better built : white or black case g1?

Hello guys,
I'm about to jump on the g1 train, currently trying to decide between white or black Dream. I have only seen the black in person (still looking for the white ;P) and there arent that many reviews or opinions posted on the net (that I could found at least) as to what the difference between the two (other than the color of course) and their build quality is.
So, please post your opinions on the matter. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few users in here with the white version. Black seems more popular, for some reason its also more expensive in most shops. But is it also more robustly built?
The one solid difference I've been able to read about is that the white phone doesnt have the rubberized back the black one has. Is this true? What about the quality of the plastic used? Are both solid, or is one "weaker" than the other? How do both feel after a few months of use? Is the white one a magnet for dirt?
Thank you guys
Cheers

i dunno. I have seen an all white battery cover offered in a few other countries. If you do go white, you might want to look into the white battery cover. it looks slick
definanetly get a black one with the nice matte finish(it look the best) i have a white one and the paint is chipping around the memory stick slot, the chin and it is not very scratch resistant
even if you dont take the outer color into consideration, the keyboard on the black one is the best...the white and brown G1 have a keyboard that is harder to read in daylight.
black one! you can actually SEE the keyboard
Amen... White looks nice, but goodluck trying to see what youre typing if the sun is shining on it.

There is a way around the problem if you use "Backlight Off" from the market. You do however need root for it to work.....
funny you guys say that about the keyboard. i find it very hard to use in the sun, hardly see the keys at all. as far as build quality gos.
i love my white G1, however. it has a slight imperfection in regard to the underside of the chin where the backplate clicks onto on one side. it has a very small gap making that side not sit flush with the body of the phone. its not enough to notice unless you look for it but it drives me insane. the problem is worse when i use the extended battery making the whole thing feel flimsy and creaky. i have found myself wondering if i made the right choice getting a white one over a black.
I have the Bronze and the key board sucks outside wish I would have got the black.. But I still love my G1
Wow thanks a lot for the replies. White does look a lot better in pics (in my opinion at least ). Seems I'll take the black one tho
Thanks again, really helpful replies!
Cheers,
Niko
White one IS better looking.
I've got a black one, and hope I had chosen a white one... and most of my friends with the white one would say the same for the black one. Don't care much about the 'finish' or 'keyboard', it's all the same, just go for the one you personally prefer.
I would def stick with the black
Black unless you want to replace the keyboard. Even with backlight off on my bronze the keys were unreadable at times. With my black one it's looking for a program that turns back light on without a keypress.
I've got a black G1 and a friend of mine has got a white one.
Build quality is comparable i think, but there several other factors which make me favor the black G1:
- The 'rubbery' finish of the battery cover provides superiod grip when holding the G1 in your hand.
- The keyboard (even when lit) is better readable on a black g1 than on a white one. probably because the contrast between black keys/white characters on the keys is bigger.

in tmobile UK they offer the white g1 with white battery cover and white keys on the keyboard. but silver middle.
tmobile us is half white and from the keyboard down its silver. the back cover does however have the rubbery feel.
the white g1 however chips soooo easily =\ i have the white one. and i was reading somewhere that the first white g1s that were released in te US had the same whtie battery cover as the UK one,but were quickly recalled becuz of paint chipping issues.
i bought the black g1 first, but returned it for the white g1 since white is mroe visually appealing to me. however the white g1 keybaord sucks ass in daylight. white backlight on a silver keyboard just makes it hard to see.
some black g1s had the silver middle and keyboard, but nowadays tmobile stores sell a full black g1. the keyboard is actually a lot easier to see.but i hate the black g1 matte finish.
you can buy ZAGG invisible shield to make the black g1 have a shiny look and also protect it from scratches and chips.. or buy it for the white g1 to protect it from scratches and chips as well.
i plan to however to buy a white battery cover and install the zagg invisible shield(btw zagg offers lifetime warranty so you can easily get a replacement for free)

Nexus One Design

I just wanted to know what everyone's opinions on the Nexus One design is... personally, I love the phone and its functions but I can't seem to get past its design (especially the back) and the dual color scheme.
Am I the only person who feel this way?
I currently have an all-black slider case covering the entire phone from the back and that seems to make it look more "professional."
i really like the design, I like the color scheme and the feel, it feels heavy and sturdy. I really liked my MT3G and I was hoping for the same type of thing but bigger and generally speaking i think i got that. I like the screen's look (not the fact that its old and kind of sucks) and the dedicated buttons on the bottom, i even think its looks good from the side, and "Google" on the back is nice too.
The color scheme is a bit unusual but I think it looks really good. Of course, I know whats inside so maybe that makes the outside look awesome to me.
The one thing is the trackball, after seeing optical trackpads i think those look better but ive never used one so i couldnt say for sure.
sorry for all the gushing i guess i just dont have much bad to say about the form, and after froyo (and knowing the official version will be even smoother), i dont really have much to complain about software-wise either ( except the god-awful copy and paste)
I love the design.
Yeah, I am completely opposite. I know some people absolutely hate the trackball but I love it, especially when it lights up and breathes; definitely good eye candy. But the dual color scheme and that huge camera lens cover is... meh IMO.
So I guess I am the only one then. :S
Like the design but not the colors....black/grey or black/silver would be cool or white/grey.
I absolutely love the design. It's near perfect for me, the colors, build quality, solid materials. It's literally the nicest phone I think I've had imo. When I play with an incredible it really reinforces this.
And the track ball too, I'm one of the few who like and prefer the track ball, use it for web browsing all the time. Try using the optical track pad on the incredible for selecting links, then come back to the trackball and see how much easier and faster the trackball is over the track pad.
my opinion:
too slippery specially with the power button on the upper left. (i've had a couple of close calls)
other than that, money!
I absolutely love the design -- with a full-body BSE skin on it! It makes it look glossy gun-metal, very awesome. Pics in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5502896&postcount=94
I like the design alot. The metal is awsome, but if it could be swwpped for different colors that would be better IMO.
I decided to get the N1 over the desire primarily on the fact it has a trackball. I love the color notifications.
This sounds really sad, but I was doing a self mirror shot with the phone, which is when I realized how bad the phone looks from the rear (in my opinion, of course). I love the phone from the front though!

Reminds me of my ex-girlfriend. She had an ugly butt, however from the front she was awesome.
The design is serious, this is no kids phone. Design is correct with dark colors.. spot on professional looking. Fair enough to me.
It's a great design/colour scheme if you ask me. Goes together well.
For those who don't like the stock color scheme:
http://www.colorwarepc.com/p-216-nexus-one.aspx
The configurator seems broken, though - I was unable to change the primary frame color (there was a button to select it, but when I chose a color it would just change the last item I had selected before that). :-(

I don't really look at the back. I have a silicon case anyway. the screen, CPU and speed are the high points. I really don't like how small it is, and slippery.
so long as a skin is on it its great. I have no complaints about the color scheme.
I love it. Best phone ever.
It's surprisingly durable too without any kind of protection unlike my iPhone was.
i personally dont care too much for design (as long as its fairly compact) since i put a case on it
but if i wasnt using a case i actually like the hard edges of the HD2 and iphone 4G more

[Q] Galaxy Note White or Galaxy Note Black?

Samsung has recently brought in the White Note to the Indian Market.Does it beats the style and looks of the Black?
Depends on personal preference I guess. I personally liked the white one because it's more stylish and fingerprints are less visible. And if you want to stand out from the crowd then get the white. If you want to be discrete, get the black.

LOL I think having this beast in one's hands makes one "stand out from the crowd" Plus White is too Appleish.
WHITE!!! most of the devices around us are black..go for white..stunin 5.3 beast in white is awesome
Also love my white note, its a beauty beast
After looking at some pics of a white Note recently I liked it so much it made me have some buyers remorse. I hadn't bothered even looking at one before getting the black, thinking naaaah that won't look good but when I saw it I was like damn!!! that is sweet!!! it just looks better in white. Of course color preference is completely subjective so that's just MHO. If I could get my hands on a white one with 32Gb internal to further justify the expense, I'd buy it in a second, long as she was new in the box.
dude definitely go for the white one ...alothough i have a blue (black) one
coz when i got in dec ,the white one was apprx 35k and mine was 30k so 5k just for colour was not worth it

LOL, you have a point. Although I kind of disagree with the white Note being Appleish. I had a white HTC trinity a year before iPhones came out so as far as I'm concerned, iPhones are HTCeish.
i've seen a video of it in white and it looks so sexy. I wish I had another month's patience to get white note. but yea as someone else said it all depends on preference
It's actually blue (very dark blue) not black, and white, but that's not a serious matter.
As for me, I always take the black variant when I buy devices with screens. The black bordering the screen makes the video experience 'cleaner' or 'brighter' or something --- can't think of the proper word for it. Something of a more genuine cinematic feel; the same feel demonstrated in a movie house with the lights off.
Of course, that could just be psychological and/or aesthetic but it does go easier on the eyes at any point. I'd try to cite sources but I'm too lazy atm. Of course, when you use the Note in the dark, there would be likely no difference. However, this preference for me in such devices only applies to the screen area. I once had my hands on a Nintendo DS Lite whose interior is black but the outer cover is red but it pleases me all the same. Same thing with the Note whose back is just some very dark blue.
Another thing though, the device looks super cool when the screen is off. Like the front is just a black, shiny slab that comes to life in a push of a button. :3
You gotta admit though, white is very eye-catching. Overkill on the eye-catching factor sometimes too.
My personal opinion - white is more for the female type of users I think. I've hold a galaxy s2 white and although it is very sexy, most people in my surroundings find it more suited for women.
Now, the White Note is very stylish in its white housing there's no doubt about it.....but if you check the streets, you'll notice that most women hold white phones and it looks this color is destined for the lady's market rather than male. The White housing gives the phone a sexy soft appealing look to the overall design. To choose between a black or white, I'll opt for the black at 101%. Just my personal thoughts about this.

was about to opinion the same. As per color theory black is more suited for better video experience. Haven't come across a theater with white surrounding near the screen.
Black is best. White could be more dirty with the time.

My white note has the exynos, I think you will find that the difference in chips is between the european or international ones and the version for the US carriers which are probable going for the snapdragon because of compatability with US LTE
Personally I think my white note looks totally cool, but then I've never worried about what other people think, I just get what I like and to hell with the rest of the world

Black vs White subtle differences

I got a chance today to get hold of both variations. Other than the obvious color on the back, there are several subtle differences:
1. Earpiece color, black vs white
2. Side finish, matte vs glossy
3. Back finish, soft-touch vs regular matte plastic (contrary to what Engadget reported)
I was going to grab the white one for the look, but after getting them in my hands, I changed my mind. That soft touch back on the black one is really comfortable to touch (I don't plan on using a case anyway). Also, I prefer the earpiece to be black.

won't really matter how the back compares against the black once the case is on there.

Well yes, this is my opinion, although IMO white is just slightly more appealing if it also have a soft touch back.
I guess having soft touch on white is either very difficult, or will make it stain/turn yellow easily
I always believed that the white one will not have soft touch, until I read the Engadget report...but it turns out to be false
I have a white GS3 and love white devices but after never being able to get a case or bumper that can stay clean, I opted for the black Nexus 5.
Man, if I had known the white wasn't a soft-touch stain magnet, I may have considered it more. That white ear piece grill is ugly, though.
Now that you mention it it makes sense that they wouldnt go soft touch with the white. Makes me long for the black one now. Im not usually one to put my phone is a case, but I think without the softback I might go with a case this time around and see how it works. Regardless, they both look like great pieces of hardware

Man thats disappointing. I was looking forward to the white. Did the back cover feel like the same type of plastic on the white HTC HERO? I Wish I could get hands on both. I was really up for the white but the ear piece looks silver in pics and I thought it would really detract from the gorgeous screen always catching your eye.
Shame they really should have documented that there was a difference in the two models and how they are finished.
Also how did the glossy sides feel of the white one? Im assuming the white is aimed stereotypically at the female market hence the glossy glossy sides.

I don't know how it compares to Hero... My first Android device is the GNex. It feels similar to white Note 3's back.
The sides shouldn't make that much difference in feel, I guess (I didn't check that out).

I've got it in hand and it is really good looking, the back is a soft touch plastic but it is different to the black. The black is identical to the 2013 N7, where as the white is smoother and less absorbent, but still very comfortable.
Let's put it this way, in was stood with the black in one hand and the white in the other, could have had either and I walked away with the white

Aw snap, wasted precious minutes debating on which color to get...
Finally pulled the trigger on white thinking that I could always cover it with the bumper case in case I regret, but I didn't notice the ugly earpiece! :crying:
And I thought they were of the same material..

Looking at these pictures it seems the black one is fingerprint magnet:

ALL the phones/tablet he show in the comparison have greasy prints all over
Even the two-year old phone I use everyday is much cleaner...
Yeah looking at YouTube vids the white is soft touch. The sides are definitely glossy I actually think it looks more premium than the black.
However the white earpiece cover is freaking unforgivable in my eyes who thought that was a good idea. Its so freaking distracting.
It may be good so you can quickly pick up the phone the right way up but coming from a gnex my eye is drawn to it since its the same size as the notification light on my nexus.
Also watching any video on this and your always going to be drawn to the white dot. If they were willing to do that they may as well have made the whole thing white. The point in the black front is to stop glare or light reflection so as not to distract from the screen. This does the opposite.
It reminds me of a mini galaxy tab when it first came out. I liked that and I like this just not the white earpiece. Silly design feature.

I'm not sure if you can fix it with a black marker

We need more people who actually touched the device to get a conclusion. For me, the white one definitely feels like regular plastic.

Haha, talk about a divergence in views. Black and white is really split down in the middle
