Disable Wake on SMS for Kaiser - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Hi,
I have searched and searched, and all I have come up with are apps to install that will basically lock the screen. Im looking for something that I can do to have my phone vibrate, ring, when an SMS is received, but I dont want the phone to wake up from sleep. Preferably not a separate application. When my phone is in my pocket I will receive a text and it will dial peoples numbers, push buttons because the screen is then lit up and becomes active. I simply want the phone to stay asleep when a text is received.
I have tried the regedit addition that some X1/Diamond users have been using:
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
but it still does not work for me on my TytnII.
Any ideas?

A_C Slide2Unlock
Search for s2u2. I use it and when you recieve a text your phone lights up but unable to dial numbers or buttons being pressed due to your phone being "locked" by s2u2. It's a great program by A_C and has the ability to show you current weather, custom picture and even works in landscape mode. If you enjoy his program please donate something to him...Hope this helps.

Do you have your notification options set to display a message? I THINK I saw once where you could turn that part off and it would beep, but not wake the display.
Might be wrong though.

Ya, i have already tried turning off the notification message, the phone will still light up and wake up from sleep

Wake up for text message, not for email

I noticed that my phone will wake up when I get a text message, but when I get an e-mail it does not. In both cases, the sound notification occurs, but I was wondering if there was a way to get it to consistently do one or the other. i.e., get the phone to wake up for both e-mails and text messages, or, only have the sound go off for both and have the display stay off.
Thanks in advance!

Check out the sounds a notifications. There are many options to play around with in there. I'm sure your answer lies within.
Get there by going to
Stat > Settings > Sounds & Notifications.
My ATT tilt does the same thing. In SETTINGS > SOUNDS AND NOTIFICATIONS, all settings are the same for the two items.
If my phone is asleep, it will wake up, show the message notification and play the sound for a text.
But for an email, it dosent wake up, but it does play the sound.
Let me look in the registery real quick and see what it shows.....
this is how it is..
emails do not wake the phone.. been like this on the 81/85 and now the 89

Disabling the notifications bubble?

Can the notification bubble be disabled?
Its absurd that in the sounds and notifications, I uncheck all notifications from all events and still get the "Dismiss" button for a notification of a missed call or voicemail or email or mms.
I really dont need to see new email counter increment, plus notification/dismiss bubble at the bottom of the screen and finally the envelope icon at the top. Im not that dense.

You need to uncheck "show message on screen" from the connection established event under sounds and notifications.
no that just dosnt allow the message to pop up on the notification. i dont believe there is anyway to disable the icon that pops up in the top.
but what you can do is disable the message that pops up

The instructions I posted prevent the notification bubble from popping up, which is exactly what the OP was trying to accomplish.
no i think he means the icon that pops up on the top not the message that comes up when ever something happend...
at least thats what i think he means...
Which one
I dont mind the envelope on top, what I do mind is when I have the keypad locked and it take 4-10 button presses to get the normal soft key navigation back.
Example:
Missed call, new email, new mms, new voicemail. Each has a seperate "notification" that has to be viewed and dismissed in 2 keystrokes.
So for example, on a missed call only:
1) Turn display back on
2) Unlock (left softkey)
3) Unlock touch right mid screen (or *)
4) click softkey notification (left softkey)
5) click dismiss softkey (right softkey)
As you can see, it takes 5 buttons to get my left softkey back to normal and get rid of the notification bubble. The handset icon with the ! on it is sufficient to indicate the missed call.
Now, how about a missed call, which of course causes a new voicemail:
1) Turn display back on
2) Unlock (left softkey)
3) Unlock touch right mid screen (or *)
4) click softkey notification (left softkey)
5) click dismiss softkey (right softkey)
6) click softkey new message
7) click softkey dismiss
Now add new voicemail, missed call, new email, new text message and you can see it takes a ton of annoying keypresses to get rid of the bubble notifications and return the softkeys to normal where I expect them to be whenever I need to use my phone.
I have everything unchecked in the sound/notify section so that doesnt help.
If I dont use Today but instead, a Today replacement, does that go away?
Thanks
take a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1843894
goto HKCU\control panel\notifications\
and change whatever you want to not show up to 0 or 1 in the options. What i do is set everything to 0 and i used to have a 1 ring lag due to that stupid bubble but as a disclaimer i use S2U2 to Handel the phone calls and phone alarm to Handel notifications so i am able to turn all this stuff off and still have the notifications i ask for.
No Luck on that thread
No luck on that thread. I still get the missed call changing the softkey to Notification and then a bubble, then dismiss.
I tried setting all the "Options" in each key under notifications to zero. So far, I think they all went away except missed call.
I have also been looking for a solution to disable the left soft-key notification / notification bubble. It seems that anyone who receives a lot of calls, voicemail and e-mail on there phone would find this "feature" annoying. I've tried various phone alarm type applications and not had any luck.
You're idea of replacing the today screen sounds like a good idea.
...but so far I just have to disable all on-screen notifications in notification settings and then press the left-soft key over and over again to dismiss all those stupid notifications.

Absolutely! I also can not understand why it seems impossible to get rid of this "feature". Specialy since HTC Home Plugin (and lot of other today plugins) make this notifications absolutely unnecessary.

Profile bug issue?

Are anybody else experiencing a bug in the profiles, when you choose Vibrate calls vibrate, but text messages only vibrate when the phone is not in sleep mode. As soon as the screen turns off the only indicator is the green flashing light..
And another thing, under Advanced => Notifications there is a checkbox called "Display message on screen" under the event of New Text Message, what does this do?? I can't see any difference when I check it or leave it unchecked?
Thanks
It does look like there is an issue with notification for messages both text and email, I'm sure someone is working on a cab file as I write...
If you go to the Today settings and turn off TouchFlow 3D you will see if you have enabled the message for reciving text messages.
Tried this out today on mine and it worked fine. Vibrate profile active, in sleep mode, text recieved and the phone vibrated three times.
The second thing you mention about a txt msg means when you recieve a text it displays a note on the screen briefly saying who its from and a snippet of the message instead of just the icon at the top of the screen. I find it quite handy. You can do this for emails to.
tom
Hmm strange can't get it working on mine..
And the note thing on the screen is pretty handy, thanks

When I have TouchFlo3D enabled I can't att elements to the today screen. In the setting for the Today screen there are a bunch of things/elements that you can add but they only work when TouchFlo3D is deisabled in the Today screen settings? Is that a bug or can't you customize the Today screen when using TouchFlo3D?

Screen lights up on notification/SMS

Hey all.
I just got a G1. I love it, its such a big step from a Touch.
But one thing I really need on it is for the screen to light up when I get a notification, more specifically an SMS. The vibration on the G1 isn't too great, so I leave it on my desk. And I hate having an audible sound to play (I'm picky, I know). When I got an SMS on my Touch the screen would illuminate, any way to emulate this on Android??
Hi, you could try downloading 'SMS Popup' from the market. In the notifications settings there should be an option to turn the screen on when a message is recieved. New texts will appear in their own window, but when you dismiss them they will still appear in the notifications tray.
Looks like that will do the job, thankyou!
Or handcent if you want more features/skins etc.

[Q] How to Turn on screen when there's a notification?

Hi there:
Is there a way to make it so the screen turns on when I get a notification? The only thing that happens currently is a sound is played. I could have sworn when I first got it that the screen turned on as well. Any help would be great. Thanks!
I have a similar requirement and therefore would like to bring this issue up to seek for your help.
Whenever an SMS comes, there are a sound and a small icon of an envelop appearing at the top of the phone for about 1 ~ 2 seconds. If the phone is with me then I know there is an SMS. Other cases i.e. when I am outside and leave my phone in my room, I will not know that I have SMS on my phone until I open the message application (as there is no notification like missed call)!
Can anyone let me know how to set the SMS icon (the small yellow envelop) remaining on the notification bar until I open and read the SMS?
Thanks in advance.
have you tried NOLED ?
Yes, searched and installed NoLED from Market. This application is greate, it satisfies my requirements!
Many thanks to AllGamer and all xda-developers!
