How do I remove the vibration when turning vibration ON? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Every single time I want to use the phone in vibrate only I enable that and get an annoying vibration. Isn't there a way to turn ON vibration without having my Diamond to vibrate once and then shut up?
Thanks!

Anyone have an idea about this? It annoys the hell out of me
thank you!

I don't have this problem but it sounds like it could be caused by the HTC volume control. You could use the standard WM volume control instead, or use some sort of profile switcher to set the phone to vibrate mode.

Davey:
Are you saying that when you enable vibration mode your phone does not vibrate once just after vibration mode is turned on?

That's right. What method are you using to turn on vibration? The volume down button?

Hes not using the hardware volume buttons.
My phone does the same thing, what Davey is saying is that he uses the Windows Mobile program to switch his phone to vibrate.
I don't get how this is such a problem though...

Which program do you mean - the one in the settings tab in TF3D? I don't use TF3D or the HTC volume control and I don't have this behavior, ever.
My point is that there are plenty of other programs that are capable of switching vibrate on and off, the OP should look for one of those or write something in Mortscript.

I use the sound settings tab within TF3D mostly but I also hold down the bottom right button on the phone to enable vibration mode.
Can you give me a link to a better program for this? And can you simply disable the HTC volume controller?
Thanks for your time!

I use SPB Phone Suite to switch profiles automatically at night and during office hours. It's a great little program but it's not free and it's a lot more converient when you're not using TF3D so you can use the today plugin. I'm sure there are free alternatives here for the Diamond.
Please see this thread for disabling the HTC Volume Control:

Phone volume turns off w/ vibraswitch - any alternatives?

I've searched around and haven't had much luck. I use vibraswitch mapped to my PTT button to switch between vibrate and sound, but sometimes (especially when I'm on the phone and use it), the phone will volume will turn off (speaker w/ x, not on and not vibrate) instead of either switching the volume on or to vibrate. I've missed some calls because of this.
Somebody in a post here said that if you hold down the button u mapped it to for a second it will do this, but this doesn't seem to be the case. If this has been answered before I'm sorry, hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction!

The only thing about this program is that the phone doesn't vibrate when you toggle between the settings. I change the volume in my pocket a lot so I rely on the vibrates to let me know when I switch.

Vibrate Only on FroYo

Ever since I updated to FroYo, I lost the feature of having vibrate only for phone calls and text messages. Usually using the volume rocker (up and down) it would go from silent > vibrate > ring.. On FroYo it goes from silent > ring..
Any idea how to fix it?
I know I can do it manually by making the option be vibrate on silent in phone settings.. But sometimes I do not want my phone to vibrate on silent.. Just a hassle of going into settings and turning it off each time when i do not want it
It sounds like your problem is two fold.
First, mine goes from sound bar down to vibrate. (I don't know if ADW launcher has an affect on this or not).
Secondly, you might want to look in to the settings applications on the market and see if you can set and restore settings for those times you want just silent and vibrate for some parts.
Are you using modaco's rom?
I use a widget called extended controls which is like an enhanced version of the stock power control widget. It has options for vibrate only or complete mute.
sliding the speaker on the lock screen should put it on vibrate only on froyo
Nope the Lock screen slide makes it completely silent. Is it only Modaco's rom ?
Did you check settings> sounds > vibrate and ensure it is not never or only when not silent?
Well neither of those options help because its either one or the other. I do not want it to always vibrate or just vibrate when on silent.. I dont know why it disappeared :S
Did you try "vibrate only on silent mode" and see if you get the option? I'm tuning kang-of-rama froyo and it works and that is what mine is set to. Otherwise maybe reflash your rom?

Vibrate only in silent mode defeats the purpose of silent mode
Stupid google, wth were they thinking with this change. I don't understand why they had to fix something that wasn't broken.
you can do it from individual app setting for sound, and in the home screen setting. that way you can tailor each app's vibrate, or silence the way you prefer.
Everyone is missing the point here. I have a Droid running Froyo and am experiencing the same problem. It is really not that hard to understand, but so many forums about this issue are full of replies that misunderstand the issue:
Prior to Froyo, Silent and Vibrate were 2 distinct functions:
Silent: ringer volume at zero and vibrate was disabled. Perfect for a theatre or a quiet meeting where even a vibrate would be annoying and disrespectful.
Vibrate: ringer volume at zero and vibrate enabled. Perfect for keeping the phone in your pocket, being aware of notifications, but not having your phone beeping and ringing all day.
This all makes sense, yes? By using the volume rocker, it was possible to adjust from full ringer volume down to low ringer volume. If you continued down after the volume was at it quietest, you activated vibrate mode. Then, if you clicked down once more, you would enable silent mode. Also all makes sense. And is extremely useful and intuitive.
In Froyo, Google has changed the way the OS handles volume control when it comes to silent mode and vibrate mode. And quite frankly, they have screwed it all up. Now, in Settings, you can specify whether the phone should vibrate "Always", "Never", "Only in Silent Mode", "Only when not in Silent Mode".
Ugh. So what that means is they have essentially done away with a distinction between silent and vibrate and now instead of having quick access to both options, you have to pick whether silent means truly silent like before or whether it really means vibrate. So frustrating.
So far, the only solutions I have seen out there are to download one of the many widgets that allows you to toggle between vibrate, silent, and ringing via a home screen icon. But this is not good enough. I want Volume Rocker control back of true Silent and true Vibrate modes.
Someone here on XDA must know how to fix this. Can't someone come up with an app that overrides the volume rocker? Or even an update.zip that restores the 2.1 functionality here?
Here's to hoping!
EDIT: here is the official google help thread on this topic: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=3f836bd37ec0dc88&hl=en
Hmm it seems i'm not the only one who misses that option on Froyo!
I used it quite a lot...going from sound to vibrate (when going out) then going into a meeting just one more click and the phone was on silent.
There must be someone who knows how to fix this?
Any news on this ?
Tbh I like the new way much better

for a second i thought i was going crazy but it seems like everyone has the same problem
oh well, here's hoping google fixes this soon. i want the old "silent [no vibrate] -> vibrate only -> ringer+vibrate" setup back.
Agreed I prefer 2.1's behaviour.
I'm using Curvefish's "Beautiful Vibrate" widget as a workaround for now.
i just upgraded to froyo and this missing feature also really annoys me..
it's been some time since the last post in this thread. are there any proper solutions/workarounds yet?
Settings -> sound -> check silent state

sorry, there's nothing to check there this post within this thread describes the problem very well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6975085&postcount=12
i can't find the "beautiful vibrate" widget within the market, guess it doesn't exist anymore?
[edit]
i'm using "silent toggle widget" now, seems to be working as expected, but of course doesn't replace the volume rocker feature/settings from 2.1

HTC One Soundprofiles

Hey,
just wanted to ask a question concerning a slight issue I'm having with my HTC One.
With my SGS3 I was used to simply shut of all sounds and vibration during work/school, so that there are no vibration sounds while lying on my desk. Then, I would want to put it back into "only sound mode", so to have no annoying vibration sounds while lying on my desk, but just sound.
In order to do this, I have to check all apps and disable vibration in those apps, am I right? Like disabling vibration in whatsapp, facebook messenger etc.
But then my problem is, that when I want to add vibration when carrying it around in my pocket, I would need to add again vibration in every single app?
In fact, I would like to have a completely silent profile (no vibration, no sounds), a vibration only profile, and a sound only profile. Is this in any way possible to achieve?
Thanks in advance,
Ben
bump
I'll bump this as well. Has anyone found any nonrooted solution to this yet? I DLed Sound Profiles from Play, but that didn't seem to do what I wanted.
Thanks
Open options, click Sound, Profiles are right there (Normal,Vibration and Silent).

Well, you can go to Settings / Sounds and turn off vibration during calls. I think that would shut it off.
Also, you can disable vibration in the power saver menu, even if that is all you shut off.

Turning off in calls doesn't turn it off in Notifications.
The downside to the power saver option is then I can't have haptic feedback on capacitive buttons.

The power save option to turn off vibration feedback doesn't affect the buttons?
EDIT: I'm not sure I entirely understand. But I'm using the Business calendar application for the reminders, and it has full control of vibration.

Constant "Volume Warning" when connecting to vehicle Bluetooth?

When I get into my vehicle (2016 Ford F150) and turn the engine on my phone automatically connects to Bluetooth (Ford Sync) and the phone screen lights up with the "Loud Volume Warning" and I have to press OK for it to go away. I have also noticed that my Bluetooth volume on my device (SYNC) is always on Max and if I try to turn the volume down it just jumps right back to the Max.
Anyone else experience this or can test this in their vehicle? Since pressing OK on the Volume warning I believe it wont ask you again until you reboot your phone again.
That's how is always been to me.

So you always have to press OK to the Volume warning when first entering your vehicle everyday? Does your screen stay lit until you press OK or eventually turn off?
only when i adjust the volume on the phone.

Its to protect you from.. you.
Not just for the car. It happens over headphones as well.
Nanny "feature". Some cat on here made some kind of "script" to disable this automatically.

Try an app called "Bluetooth Volume Control", I find it useful for this issue.
You guys realize you can fix this without any extra software right... Just go into setting, sounds, volume, click the little three dots in top right corner for media volume limiter. Turn it on and slide the bar all the way up. Now when you get in your truck or connect headphones you won't get that stupid popup anymore

Yes go to developer options and turn on "disable absolute volume". By doing this my phone no longer turns on with this warning once connected to my vehicles Bluetooth.

@xbmoyx , what theme is that good sir?
I tried the developer option above but the warning still appears when connecting to a bluetooth speaker.
I hate this so called safety feature, it should be smart enough to know when you are connecting headphones vs speakers or car systems. Better still a toggle (with disclaimer) to allow you to turn it off completely.

Maybe it depends on the type of vehicle you own? With Sync3 in my truck that option stopped it but of course I still get the pop up if I raise the volume too high telling me it's not safe to listen to music too loud.
This is already built in...Vibration>Volume>3 dots menu in upper right hand corner> Media Volume Limiter> Turn it off.

Question Dnd mode - notifications won't turn on screen

Hello,
I have latest Xiaomi.eu rom and when I activate do not disturb mode, the screen won't wake up neither on incoming calls or any notifications.
Does anybody have the same issues, how can I fix it, please?
That's what you want and for! No disturbances.
You can set calls to come through if in your favs or if it is a repeated call for example. For me and is exactly as it should be

Maybe I don't have to use Dnd mode, but I want to use phone in three modes. Ringing+vibrations, vibrations only and no ringing and no vibrations, but with screen awake. So how can I set up the third without still having to go to the menu for turning the vibrations on/off for silence mode?
Thank you

Can you not just use pull down menu and turn off sound and vibration when you want silence? Saves going in to menu each time.
