Keyboard Problem. - Touch Viva, MDA Basic General

The installed keyboards on htc touch viva are not suggesting any words although I ticked the boxes in the options in settings. Whether this is bug or my one is faulty. What is the solution?
Thanks in advance.

hmmm
have you tried to tic the box for choose the T9? after try to write some words and see if the T9 suggest you words...i've an Htc Touch Viva with italian lenguage for default...so if you have a english version, probabily there isn't the english words's vocabulary..but i think that this way is impossibile...have you changed some values in the PDA registry or have you installed applications? if you are saying me YES, try to uninstall them and soft reset PDA..probabily they generate some bugs..

Thanks devilpera once again.
Yes I tried in T9 mode then it is suggesting worrds but ABC mode NO. If switch to the keyboards, also it does not. Before I was having imate jam, it was suggesting words and was very helpful.
I didn't change any registry values. Yes I installed some applications but why it should interfere with word suggestions?

when you use all the Windows mobiles, you must thinking as if you worked on the windows on PC. when you install a program, this one writes in the registry and change some values. however in the ABC modality it is normal that the keyboard do not give words, so don't worry. only with the T9 you can.
In addiction to this post, i suggest you to install SKtool lite (this is free app) that permise you to have your PDA always cleaned and for the MicroSD use Pocket Mechanic (this one isn't free, but you can find a serial with the app on cracks.am )

Thanks again.
I am already having sktools installed.Even I installed spb keyboard, that also not showing any suggestions.

ORANGE + Phonepad Nightmare!

Hi Everyone,
I have a nice shiny orange spv m700. Unfortuantly, in Orange's wisdom they supply a ROM which does not have any form of thumb based text entry.
In order not to void my warranty I am not going to flash the ROM. Especially as I have tomtom 6 working perfectly and removed the orange garbage from the today screen.
However I am going mad withouth t9 text entry! I have downloaded and installed phonepad english, phonepad international, tengothumb and none of them work! They install fine but not come up when you select them. Ive tried setting them to default text entry but to no avail. I have installed them on the device not the memory card and there is lots of memory spare.
Can someone please help me has anyone found the trick? I have 7 days to return the phone but until i try phonepad i dont know whether i want to keep it (never used a phone withouth keyboard before).
Thanks in advance
Warny
me too
i have been asking about this too the last day or so. the dopod rom has it built in but i am worried that once i have put the dopod rom on then i cant go back to the orange one if i dont want to keep the phone.
No one seems to be replying about dumping my original orange rom so at the mo we are a bit stuffed.

Try install the attached cab, then goto program>G4 SIP Startup select phonepad as default SIP, then softreset. However TengoThumb would not work for Trinity for some reason.

Install phonepad, then G4 SIP tweak, then select phonepad as startup SIP in G4 SIP Tweak, soft-reset. It works for me.

How did you get it to work?
Cheers the G4 does the trick
thank you for the solution!! worked first time for me, installed the tweak then phone pad english and soft resetted. so glad to have phonepad back!
OK I got the G4 Sip program installed but the phonepad never works - just pops up the standard keyboard. I have a Orange M700 - any suggestions? Thanks
Uninstall both then install sip change, reinstall phone pad select phone pad as default and it should work...
Or if all else fails purchase SK tools as this always works and has many useful extra features.
Thanks for all the useful info
I got mine working on my SPV M700 by:
1) Uninstall SIP Change & Phone Pad & G4 SIP Tweak (If you have any of them installed already)
2) Copy G4 SIP Tweak CAB to PPC and install
3) Soft Reset
4) Copy Phone Pad CAB to PPC and install
5) Soft Reset
6) Copy SIP Change CAB to PPC and install
7) Soft Reset
8) Start SIP Change (From Start Menu - Programs) and select Phone Pad and make sure delay is set to 10
9) Soft Reset
This is the only way I have managed to get mine working, and I dare not reset the device again incase it fails lol

Hi, hope this thread isn't dead just yet...as a newbie here and a recent convert to the world of the touch screen... I've had a good search around the web for a thumb entry system (have to admit thought is was a standard feature on smartphones cos I'd seen it working on an O2 XDAmini. So was more than a little dissappointed to find it wasn't on the M700 (after my 7 day's were up).
I've tried installing tengo thumb with the same limited success as a previous contributor, lots of resets I assume a soft reset is button on the bottom you prod with the stylus?
I've tried various combinations of loading G4 SIP Tweak, and Phone Pad cab, and have the 'Phone Pad appears in list but doesn't do anything' problem...
I noticed in your post you mentioned uninstalling 'SIP Change' that's some I've not downloaded separately, got the G4 SIP tweak and the phone pad.
Also there appears to be two places (3 including the input icon in settings) where you can select Phone Pad there's 'G4 SIP Hide' in the sytem menu where it say's don't choose the wrong SIP here as its likely to **** everything up. And then there's the 'G4 Sip Startup changer' in my programs directory. Are either of these the 'G4 SIP Tweak' utility.
So i'll give it another go but wondered if I've
1. got the right cab's, tweaks and whistles
2. got my SIP application confused
3. just plain confused
Any help greating appreciated.
Also must be trying too hard with the stylus as I'm on no. 2 already!
Thanks for listening
Awesome, this has been plaguing me for a long time, whatever i did i could not get any keyboard except the standard ones to stick and be useable, fine with a stylus, no good for one handed operation.
Now it all works and like the rest its a case of remove anything resembling SIP management and alternate SIPs and then install G4 Tweak and then Phone Pad, select PhonePad in the G4 interface and soft reset. Bingo a working phone pad.

I was in a similar position to you. I managed to get mine working eventually - I found that I didn't need Sip Change. I just installed SIP Tweak, then Phone Pad. I think perhaps the key thing is to soft reset immediately after selecting Phone Pad on Tweak. Once I'd done that it finally worked, and has continued to work even after when I've shut down normally.

Finding an input method for Diamond

I am finding a Japanese keyboard for Diamond
My Rom is Chinese Traditional, dunno if it is HK Rom or TW Rom
Then I reached here: http://my.opera.com/cameron_en/blog/2008/02/03/ime-complete-installation-files-download-section
I tried following the instructions there but I cannot use henkan (変換) button, or even backspace.
My activated ChangJie input cannot be used as well.
The black bar (start menu bar) was on the top of the green screen which the texts "Windows Mobile 6.1" are there when I boot up my phone after the JP keyboard is installed, and the icons on the bar were not on there places. For example, the windows flag is in the middle.
I found they are not useful I uninstalled them all, the default input "ChangJie" can be used without problems, but the black-bar problem is not solved, I have to hard reset my phone.
Question: Now I haven't hard reset it yet, and want to know
1, How can I make the Japanese input works without any problems
2, Could anyone please let me know if there is another JP input for WM6 which works.
Thanks, and sorry for my Eng coz I am a Chinese.
Today I did a hardreset and reinstall IME without Chinese files, Korean files, enabler files and registry fix
All the problems were still here, until I uninstall the korechithai.cab, ChangJie started to work, but those JP IME input method has the following results:
Kana: Only Katakana can be type but cannot Henkan (変換)
Romaji: Only English and Numbers can be typed.
I only hope the two above works, Tegaki and Kensaku are about handwrite which I think is so inconvenience, although these two works quite fine.
I also tried Bagojs Input but all its input methods have to use handwrite.
Glad to hear if there is another Japanese input keyboard or make the Ask IME_31J works.
Thanks
hello!
i'm searching a cab to read japanese, but i can't find anything, have u any idea to do it?
Maybe inside the web the cab korechithai.cab meets you needs.
But I suggest you backup first because I dunno about this!~

Diamond Keyboard problem

Hi,
I don't know what I've done, but when I'd like to write some message, or whatever, the original keyboard (full qwerty, or compact qwerty) keyboard starts up with the symbol pad and it's not possible to switch it back to alphanumeric mode. The only way is to invoke keyboard switch menu and select the same keyboard again. then it works as usual. Does anybody have the same problem?
as I said, I don't know, what I've done, or installed, bud I think, I've installed Advanced config 3.0 recently
I have the same problem... I also don't know what is wrong.
I also tried to disabled T9 with some tricks... that's all...
Some suggestions??
Thnx
Since yesterday I also have a problem with my HTC keyboards.
All 3 options, Qwerty, Compact Qwerty and the phonepad only gives me numbers.
I have tried all the settings.
It does not make a diverence if i turn of T9.
On the keyboard i can see the nummbers and the letters.
This is very irritating, can somebody please help?
Or is there an original cab version, al the cabs i can find are Qvga.
I have tried the Touch keyboard and it gives letters in stead of numbers, but its Qvga.
Thanks
Same problem here on the CDMA Diamond, I tried two different ROMs already the Sprint Stock ROM and a Telus Custom Juicy's 2.0 ROM. I can't use it at all and I hate doing a Hard Reset. Someone shed some light on this please.
Same problem here, have tried everything
Well I solved the problem by uninstalling PCM Keyboard... Too bad, I really liked it
Does anybody know if it's possible to run pcm keyboard without having this issue on the diamond?
since day 1 my keyboard did not show predict text ? anyone can help me ?
I had the same problem , it appeared from nowhere ..
After also trying different tricks , i solved the problem using Resco Keyboard
Pro ... It also responds much better to my taste with the touch screen
interface of the diamond.
I have had this problem on the Touch Pro too having used PCM keyboard.
Unistalled it and all back to normal.
Pity.
Same here, alas PCM's copy & paste was cool, but not if I can't use the other keyboards...

Thai Version of TD2

Hi I want to buy a Touch Diamond 2 for brother in law who is Thai. He wants version that has Thai language.
Does anyone know which region version I should buy.
Normally, there is no any ROM that has Thai!
For Thai ROM is developed by Thai's web forum calls PDAMOBIZ.COM
But, it is still no ROM for Topaz, due to it very new.
However, if your brother in law can use english menu, there are some Thai company that sell Thai software calls ThaiWinCE and Thai-g (for me, now I recomended ThaiWinCE).
That you can buy from them via there homepage.
In the software, there will give you Thai input Keyboard, Thai Regional setting and make your WM phone able to read Thai.

There is also something called korechithai.cab that install thai fonts (and other south-eastern fonts I think) and basic WinMo thai input keyboard (to be used with a stylus, but it is better than nothing). I do not know if it is related to the ones mentioned in previous post (an earlier version maybe?), but afaik it is free, i did found it on Thai WinCE message boards. I installed it on my previous PDA, and re-installed it on my TD2. No compatibility issues, although the cab was for an earlier version of WinMo, it is still working nicely on 6.1 topaz...
It allows me to use free thai-english dictionary (there is also one hanging around, using the MDict engine), I will check during my next trip to thailand if it work for viewing thai characters in SMS in Touchflo and browse thai website...
But as the previous poster said, this will not change the WinMo menus, nor touchflo3D, not any pre-installed apps: those will remain in the language your Topaz came pre-installed with...which, in my case, is a blessing ;-)
Thanks for the replies.
I will try the korechithai.cab on my device later. If it is ok then I will just buy him a UK version.
I installed the korechithai.cab but now both my volume buttons & the call answer button no longer work.
Anyone have this problem & know how to fix it.

Strange, I installed it too and I do not have this problem...Have you soft resetted your TD2?
BTW, after expansion my korechithai gives different cab:
KbdChinese.cab
KbdKorean.cab
KbdThai.cab
korechithai4ppc.cab
SIPChange.cab
I installed korechithai4ppc.cab first (this gave the thai fonts, so I was already able to read thai words in my dictionary after this install)
then KbdThai.cab, this added the thai keyboard (classic WM keyboard format, so stylus-oriented, or can work with fingers...if you have very sharp nails ;-) )
I did not install SIPChange.cab, this one is not compatible with 6.1 (or so it says in the instruction). I think it is intended for deeper change (program shortcuts, maybe some OS messages or menus), things I had no intention to change anyway.
I you have installed SIPChange.cab, I suspect it is the origin of your problem. I would try to uninstall it, and if it does not work, only solution I see is a hard reset, then try the installation of korechithai4ppc.cab then KbdThai.cab only...

Is it possible to tell me where to download korechithai4ppc.cab of better still can you email it to me. I have tried but can't find it anywhere.
The korechithai.cab I downloaded from here http://my.opera.com/cameron_en/blog/2008/02/03/ime-complete-installation-files-download-section does not work properly.
For anyone who's interested I have found a fully compatible version of korenchithai4ppc.cab at this link http://sinocom.ru/index.php?topic=159.msg3006;topicseen as you can see it is in Russian but all you need do is scroll down approx 2/3rds of the thread & the link for rapidshare is there.

I'm trying to get the Block recognizer too.
It seems to me that Microsoft blocked it in WM 6.5
EzInput 2.1 doesnt support old SIP methods like block recongniser, thats why it doesnt work for you guys.

Hey Aman, but at Microsoft WebPage, they talk about the input methods for WM 6.5 and Block/Letter Recognize are there !!!!!!!
I though that the nes versions of cooked ROM's would be able to have then too.
Finally working BR and LR

To enable the Letter Recognizer SIP, set this to 1:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
To enable the Block Recognizer SIP, set this to 1:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}\IsSipInputMethod
"Default"="1" – Enabled
You will notice that this will not make the SIP appear, for example, in your SMS application. However, it should appear in the pulldown menu at Start->Settings->Personal->Input. Now, if you try to set the Letter Recognizer as default, thinking that it will appear in SMS application, it doesn't. For some reason, it will always default back to the Touch Input (or EzInput) SIP.
So, the next step is to make the Letter Recognizer SIP the default. To do that, check the value at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\DefaultIm
It should be "0654897B-B359-473F-B28B-D85CF601C57F" (for Touch Input SIP). Replace that with
"42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9" (for Letter Recognizer SIP).
WARNING -- very very important to make sure the above is entered correctly. According to some posts elsewhere, a non existent SIP can crash your device. You might want to confirm if you have the Letter Recognizer SIP by searching for the msim.dll file. If it exists, I suppose it is probably safe.
After soft reset (power on/off device), you should now see the Letter Recognizer in your SMS application. However, you will also notice it doesn't work properly. For eg, the Capital Letter (left panel) doesn't work, there is this irritating word suggestions thing that keep popping up, it is quite slow and quite inaccurate, the Help doesn't work well.
To resolve these problems, set the following to 1:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\ezsip\IsOtherSip
Do a soft reset and the problems should disappear and you have a good Letter Recognizer to work with (even with fingernail), save for the following problems:
a. Sometimes response may not be very good. Can be quite slow especially if you are entering letters like "i", "r". Maybe this is because of the screen sensitivity.
b. If you click on the little triangle and want to switch to the Touch Input SIP, you can. But the problem is that you can't switch back to the Letter Recognizer anymore unless you do a soft reset. I guess this is OK if you use Letter Recognizer exclusively, but if you want the Chinese Handwriting feature in Touch Input (which is pretty good IMO), then it is not good.
Sorry for the long post. Thought it is better to also share my observations. I am a newbie with registry thing, so I prefer to do step by step and hence many soft resets. If you are gungho enough, just do the steps in bold followed by a soft reset. Hope it works for all you guys.
Note -- if you don't feel safe doing the registry changes, an alternative is to use the Touch Input SIP but set the waiting time to the shortest possible which will reduce the delay. But it is still very irritating to use IMHO.
Cheers
Just to remember all that the solution I described at the previous post is not mine and was Originally Posted by NothingBetterToDo. So, many thnaks to him for the great solution !!!!!!
Info for the ones that doesnt have en version
Hi
Info to all of you with other language then english.
The file msim.dll are country specific, in sweden its called msimsw.dll so i guess you will be able to find your version if you search the registry for msmi and then you will find a msmiXX.dll that is the correct one for your country.
I hade to add the info for {42429690-AE04-11D0-A4F8-00AA00A749B9} and {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9} because it was missing info so it's not enought to only change the IsSipInputMethod to 1.
I have attached the files i used, but plz realise that this one is for swedish a version. You can edit the files with notepad to adress the localized .dll file for your country.
After this to be able to use the input methods i did what nicksalgado said and change
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip\DefaultIm
to {42429691-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9} to use Block recognizer as default im

OK The tweak worked for me. Now I have got rid of that annoying keyboard. Anyway I would like to have the option of choosing the keyboard in a drop down list like before the rom update. Now the block recognizer is the one and only input method.
