Radio 1.10.25.18 - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Some of ya'll may have noticed. There is a new Xperia Radio released.
1.10.25.18
Link: ftp://minftp.myftp.org/XperiaX1i/RADIOS_WORKING_ON_X1/Radio_1.10.25.18.rar
ftp://x1:[email protected]/XperiaX1/RADIOs/XPERIA_Radio_1.10.25.18.rar
Some withnissed better signal/battery preformace. And some withnessed worse signal and wors battery preformance.
And some can't flash the radio back to the original one!!!
So watch out.
Share you're Radio 1.10.25.18 experience here.
Myself, I havn't flashed yet. I want to hear the others first.

Better battery power for sure, but people have said my phone is unavailable sometimes even though my phone is on.
I came now to XDA download the old radio...

Mine have a better battery life and improved signal reception using 1.10.25.18, but sometimes it cannot regain the signals when got a blank spot.

Smaberg has gone back to stock, he flashed a HD radio first.
I think it's more to do with the radio that was "stock" was set as 0x301 rather than 0x300.
Anyway I much prefer the new one.. To get the signal back (it seems after testing it goes into a low power mode if loses signal for a long time) turn the phone part off and on again in com manager.

I always have full 3G signal at home (UK Voda) with the stock ROM so think will give this a miss. Absolutely hated having to go to CommMgr to get it back when I was using Hermes on T-Mobile.

I have good signal with both, maybe better with the new one, but nothing radical. I am at Helsinki Finland and we do have good HDSPA coverage about everywhere here, so its not really about that.
If the phone loses signal by itself and when people call they cant reach me, I dont know about you guys but that kinda is against the purpose having a mobile phone on.
Also the battery life is better with the new one, but its by no means poor on the old one. Compared to HTC Touch Pro I would say I get 35%-40% more time on my X1 with the old too. And I had the Touch Pro security unlocked so I basically tested every radio thats available.
Im back with the original radio for now.

For me was the same experience with this and the stock radio, still miss signal in some close spaces... .. battery almost the same..
Can't test 3G cause i'm using X1i and need X1a here in Mexico.
I'm gonna test HD latest radio and see what happens..

I think you're more likely to find better battery life if you have a marginal signal to start with
what did you use to flash back with?
if some are reporting problems, then it would be good to know a fool proof way
sorry about the spaces, trying out ShapeWriter, not convinced so far.......

I saw marginal difference on the signals between these 2 radios. I have very good reception in my city all over...
I went back to 1.06.25.29, device information shows the correct radio version. I used the normal Radio Update Utility. Or what did you mean?

Carrier/operator/provider's signal strength and coverage has A LOT TO DO here. Thus, results will differ for each user
I have posted some fieldtest results ("radio's" thread) but I ain't no good comparison point because my operator has strong signal and coverage: Full-bars always for me, wherever I go whatever radio I flash (except for the Diamond Radio 1.09.25.23 of course, what a crap - at least for me)
@Xmoo
Conclusion: I think this is a very personal decission and you should take a chance and throw the dice, run your odds

Yeap.. my device is security unlocked.. I have successfully upgraded my ROM Radio...
Maybe Gtrab is right.. and every Radio depends of the Country, Carrier, Antennas and lots of stuff.. maybe the Radios are not going to solve all our reception problems.. (at least not mines )
I forgot to ask.. has anyone tried those Antenna Booster (As seen on TV) Stickers?? Does that really works on the Xperia??

Hmz mayb the bad signal is a hardware issue then???

i dont think so, ihad 3 xperias, and 5 of my friends got it, and all are the same, crappy signal, but when turning off 3g the gsm reception is GREAT almost as good as my SE905C, maybe crappy 3g chip for some frequences.

NO WAY !!!
I just received my X1A, inserted my ole SIM and YAHOOOO !!! "H" icon came up !!! Now I have both X1i and X1A, X1i picking GSM/EDGE and X1A picking WCDMA/HSDPA from the same 850MHz carrier
BOTH SHOW 4 (four) FULL BARS (both on radio 1.06.25.29)
ONLY DIFFERENCE is the sweet HSDPA SPEEEEEEED: boosted from 107 Kbps to 2,156 kbps !!! (and this was a "raw" out-of the box test, let me optimize and tweak please, yipeee)
I LOVE my carrier !!!
PS: I'll test in other areas around the city later and get back to tell ya

E vs. 3G vs. H

I'm getting confused about the speeds. I have an at&t Tilt. When I had the stock ROM it would only show E and 3G. When I tether with E I can barely do anything. When I connect with 3G I get download speed of 1200kb/s from speedtest.net. Now after upgrading to Dutty's WM6.1 I saw an option for HSDPA. This is where I got confused. I now have 3 connections. E just sucks. 3G now sucks. I get 100kb/s speeds. With H I get 1000kb/s speeds. Now how come H is now like the old 3G?
I know on my Tilt the H icon was just that an icon because the tilt didnt have the symbol enabled and that while i was surfing the net on 3G that i was still getting HSDPA speeds. Hopefully that helps...
Can someone explain why my phone will sometimes jump to the 3g symbol while I'm on the t-mobile network? I'm in the boston area. I thought they bought the 1700mhz band?
t-mobile..
Tmobile launched 3g i think like 3 days ago in large cities,
Boston, NYC, Chicago, Tampa,Miami, LA,San-fran..
i think they are the only ones as of right now
G is the best, For real Gangsters.
Na 3G is best in speed and battery.

Uh, 3G eats up more battery juice. A lot more.
Uh, I use twice the battery power but, I download a large file 10X as fast. Uh let me do the math, Uh............
Ok, so it's just an icon thing. with the new ROM H is like the old 3G. 3G is like the old E. funny that it's goes to E once in a great while. i wonder what that is?

ok buddy, just relax...
he's right, and so are you.
For some people getting things faster is better. for others it isn't, and yes 3G eats your battery (like you said).
There is no need to point out grammar mistakes,
just because you couldnt point out anything else besides that he stated the obvious.

I was pointing out the factual error towards the person I quoted, who said also said that battery life was "best" with 3G. Just to hopefully curb any potential posts asking why their battery drains much faster with 3G enabled. Didn't need to have the other guy pick up on my "Uh" and act like a jackass about it.
That's all.

XDA Ignito - HSDPA Signal

Hi guys
I've had my Ignito for a few weeks now, love it. But, I can very rarely get an HSDPA signal?? my old Orbit II always had a full signal where I work. Has anybody else got the same problem, or changed radio ROM and found one that works better (im using 05 at the mo)??
Thanks for your help
Some people are claiming that .08 gives them a better signal, but you will get wildly varying reports depending on who you speak to.
Best bet is to just try them all for yourself, you can flash a radio without affecting anything else....Always a good idea to make a backup tho just in case.
I've got the Ingnito as well and have never once had an HSDPA signal, the only thing I ever have displayed is the E icon for EDGE despite living and working in an area with solid HSDPA coverage according to O2's website. I'm not massively bothered about it as EDGE is fast enough for my needs generally, but it is mildly annoying to pay for a 3G handset and never be able to take advantage of it.
Glad im not the only one having that problem. I'll try a few of the radios and report back.
Thanks
I've had the Ignito for two weeks now, and whilst it the HSDPA signal isn't as good as on my Touch Cruise, it's still there and seems to work perfectly, both in the UK, and when I was in Barcelona last weekend.
(Slightly off-topic, but I've noticed the battery getting better and better every day, to the point where it still had 30% last night before I went to bed! )

Nexus One 3g Issue?

I have been wanting a nexus one really bad and the only thing holding me back is the 3g/edge switching problem I have heard some much about. Is this really that big of a problem? Should I wait for the HTC Desire?

How is the signal strength where you live? I have had my Nexus since the day it launched, and dont experience any of those issues. But then again....I have great 3G/HSPA connectivity here in Denver.
I live near Detroit MI and the 3g is ok. I do get edge 40% of the time when I am in my house but wifi fixes that.
I have had mine 48 hours. It has worked properly about 2 hours. The rest has been filled with lost data connections, signal going from 4 bars to zero bars, and back to 4 bars within seconds, and many many missed calls/messages/aborted calls. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I thought this was going to be an upgrade from my G1- the speed is great but it is totally unusable as an actual phone. BTW, 3g in my area is excellent (on the G1).
I'm in Tulsa, OK and have yet to see EDGE on my 3G ATT Nexus. I've had it all day and been all over town and now home and I've got 3G all day and 4 bars 3G at home in the house.
I had my Nexus since the day it was launched, and dont have any 3G issues. I have great 3G/HSPA connectivity here in Las Vegas.
I had my N1 about couple months and so far it seems that it's the only choice!, didn't get any major problems, amazing speed I always get daily updates!

Las Vegas is one of T-mobile's best connected cities... so no surprise there. But even in Toledo, OH, I get 3G outdoors without issue and switch between 3G and Edge only indoors, where I have wifi anyway.
Maybe you guys that are having problems might call HTC for swaps.
All of this worries me. I don't want to shell out $530 for a phone that could have issues with keeping a 3G connection. Even on cyanogens wiki he sates "Is the 3G issue fixed? No. While Google did issue an Over-The-Air update On 2010-Feb-02, it doesn't fully fix the switch from 3G to EDGE, which might be a mix of a hardware problem and a software one." I am hoping the desire comes out soon to see if that has the same problems. It is almost the same hardware so I would think it would be the same but we will see.
If anything it's the baseband programming from Qualcomm... I'm NOT seeing as bad as an issue as before. I do on occasion see it go to EDGE; I've just not got in the habit of leaving my phone on 3G only now.
no trouble in austin tx 3g and H all the time
Called HTC and they had no other solution but for me to loose $45 (because it was etched) plus shipping to get me another phone that would likely do the same thing. So, I rooted and crossed my fingers that having a choice in radios would help. Nope. Oh well, it looks cool. I use it to show off, and make calls with my G1
It's always good to try another SIM card(S) from a different carrier before coming to conclusions.

That's really not possible in the US. We have 2 GSM provides and both use different frequencies. You're definitely not going to get 3G with the other provider's SIM.

Ughhh, I'm line of sight to a tower and get -70 to -75dBm all the time but I swear I jump for joy if I manage to get 600kps on this N1.
I went to the outdoor mall in my neighborhood that has the T-Mobile antenna there. I was getting about -75dbm and when I covered the back of the phone with my palm as demonstrated in the videos showcasing the 3g problem my reception would drop to about -105dbm... is it me or is that excessive considering how close I was?

Radio Images Question

So, I am trying to find a radio image that gives me a boost in my area. So far 2.42.00.03.10 has given be the best results. I am about to flash the stock radio to see how it competes with this one.
Flipz posted an Eris Radio Image a while back with his Eris Rom dump. Is it safe to flash a Verizon Radio image on our Sprint phones? I know it seems like a silly question. I was reading a thread with some Eris people actually using Sprint Heros' radios and getting better results. Since I live in a more Verizon area I might get a better results. So, can I flash this or not?

Thanks, Meng. That's what I thought. I just don't understand how that's possible. Maybe someone will explain one day.
So, I flashed the stock radio image and noticed a huge difference in reception(from -90ish to 82ish dbs) and especially in data. I went from 500kps to over 1Mps of data. However, it came at a price. My battery drained from 100% to 70% in less than two hours with me using my phone for two phone calls, checking and replying to one email via web browser, and sending about 5 texts. I don't need to keep flashing all these radios. But I gotta find one that is right. Do the radios power down the device as long as there is a signal? Because on another unit I got better battery, but my signal was lower as well as my data. I can deal with lower data if get longer battery life.
What kinda of number are we looking for? a higher or lower number in dbs?

Lower dbs is better. So if you have -60dbs I think that is a perfect signal. So, -105dbs is barely a signal.
That weird. I went from 68 to 72... wtf? and I havent moved anywhere hah
Re: Radios
funny story, not even really sure how this happened, but anyways, i was using fresh with the new radio and it worked fine... however, last night, upon going back to DC 2.08.1, i attempted to re-flash the radio and bricked my phone (major pain in the ass), this all sparked a 3 hour ordeal with sprint, who, of course, replaced it for free, but gave me a hero that had no USB capability what-so-ever, in the end, i'm really not sure what happened, but all i know is i'm just sticking with the stock one for a long time. :3

Phone sometimes off (because I removed Google Apps? Or switched motherboard?)

Ok so I decided to remove all google related apps using console in recovery before booting into a freshly flashed ROM
First of all...the keylayout was all weird
As if it had not autodetected my tmobile keyboard (I have a rogers motherboard)...it was like that when I first put in the motherboard
So I rebooted into recovery and reinstalled google apps
I restarted and everything was fine.
I skipped signing in...
Then I removed all google apps from terminal emulator
And rebooted
It worked fine...everything was OK
But sometimes when I pick up my phone its off for some reason. I have to turn it back on.
Is this because I removed all google apps? Or is it just my motherboard flash memory getting worn out? Its the second phone it has been in...
Or is this because I have a rogers motherboard in a tmobile phone. Because there's one more thing I've noticed. With DangerSPL I boot into fastboot by pressing Call + Power. But with the 2708+ kernel spl Call + Power or Back + Power don't work. I have to go through Camera + Power then Back.
Hmmm...well I'm gonna leave it probably on adb logcat overnight and if it turns off ill see what's wrong
The roger's MoBo differs a little of the T-Mo one, starting by the KB layout.
You can check this wiki for some reasons to don't be using the 2708+ mod in Roger's MoBo, in section "Why not convert to a EBI0 Radio?": http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Full_Update_Guide_-_Rogers_Dream_EBI1
If you check on that same wiki, the Roger's version of G1 uses a 3.x radio, not the 2.x ones. If you install a 2.x radio on a Roger's... it will do some crazy things
By changing from a radio to another and all that, you'll not lose the avaibility to flash any of the roms that you're already using, the only thing needed to be changed is the kernel to use the apropiated specs of a Roger's MoBo.
Good idea to ckeck the logcat, and if u see some kernel hangs, it wouldn't be an bad idea to try with a 32A (Roger's) kernel and radio.
Hmmm well it didn't turn off
Logcat looked fine
Alls fine I guess
If anything starts going wrong I guess ill try
And maybe one day if I find a good reason to buy all the jtag tools ill fix my old one

I don't think so, voltage regulators, soldier, so many cables needed, etc... it isn't just a cable USB-like, it's like 6 cables that must be soldered to the phone's MoBo, with electricity regulator and all that thing, kinda lab experiment thing xD!
And... who said I'm just short of money? Have to work to can at least live is a really common case here where I am. Not to mention have enough money conditions to buy electronics and PC's, it's kinda paradise here
Anyway, happy flashin' 'n playin' on ur phone
Do you have any issues with telephone or data service after changing the motherboard? I noticed the service manual calls for tuning the phone again after a motherboard change, so I wondered if it is really that sensitive or not. I have a broken phone with a good motherboard I wanted to use to fix another one with a bad motherboard, so I wondered if I could expect to run into trouble or not. Both are T-Mobile phones.
I would think just reflash radio, spl, and ROM and you're all good to go.
It works fine so far.
frankdrey is correct. i have gone threw 30+ g1s, i swap motherboard all the time (never a rogers into a ebi0 but im sure its ok) havent ran into any problems with the swap, but i always have rooted them and upgrade all about them. only real difference is that if for some reason you need to know the imei you cant look behind the battery but need to check in settings. common sense i know but just telling you the only difference i could see.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the real world experience, which is as I suspected. On the IMEI, I just moved the data sticker too. No trouble with GSM calls, or wifi. There's no 3G in the area though to check that.
