[?] Installing / Using Multiple Themes - Touch Pro, Fuze Themes and Apps

My apologies as this is probably a stupid question, BUT... can you install more than one theme on a TF3D device (I have the Fuze)? I only ask because I installed, for example, Herg's Flip Clock theme (white flip w/ black numbers) and then a few days later decided to install Matt's Fuzeberry theme and give it a try...and it was like Fuzeberry overwrote the other or something. I guess I thought it would install both separately and I could choose which one I wanted to us in my Today settings.
Do I have to uninstall one and then install another if I decide to switch between themes? This is what I ended up having to do. Is that right? If there is a better way, what is it?
Again, sorry if that is a stupid question but that was what happened to me and I guess I thought it would be different. I've been reading on here for several weeks now, learning lots of cool things, but haven't found this answered in my searches. Thanks for your time.

Bump.
Anybody? Please?

Hey there, Mark.
In order to replace a theme, you will need to copy+paste a file into your "windows" folder. This will, as you said, overwrite the files in there with what you're putting in.
But, if you want a number of different themes/styles to choose from, you should check this program out, made by XDA's Grumps:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437420
This is a Manilla Customizer, and although I haven't used it, it will allow you to do what you're asking for allow you to choose from a number of different preloaded themes/styles.
Edit: It only works for Icons, Clocks, Sliders, and Curtains, not so much the theme.
Enjoy!

Ok, thanks for the response! Guess maybe that's what I'm looking for. I had read some posts where folks said they switched between themes or were loading another theme and I didn't know if they just installed the .cab each time or what. Thanks for your time.

I've been hunting apps for my fuze for a while, and I'm pretty sure that there isn't something that will allow you to change from one theme to the next. You'll have to go through the process of overwriting/replacing files.

Actually, Diamond tf3d Config will let you change themes as long as the themes are saved in .theme format. If you use cabs, you change themes by using Remove Programs and then running new cab. Either way, you can store your themes on storage card and change when you want. If you overwrite directly using total commander or something, then you run risk of having a mismatch of themes, of course that might me desired effect too.

Okay, so the process I've done the few times I've changed - uninstall current then install the new theme - is what I need to do. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an easier way or something.
I appreciate the people who share the themes they've created so the rest of us, especially like me who do not have the skills to create them myself, can change up the look of our device by installing them. Great community here!

doh! Showaco is right. Are you using this program, called TF3D Config?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749
Many of the themes you're using is in the .cab format, which installs itself. TF3D Config is actually a really neat app, in that it lets you choose from the themes that you've loaded into a folder. The themes must be in .theme format (not .cab), they must be on your phone, and TF3D Config will let you choose which theme to install from that list of themes.

HTC Touch Pro Home iconset

I’ve created some new icons and made little changes to the HTC Home plugin’s graphic files because I wanted them to fit a little better to the Touch Cube style, and keep that somehow professional look.
Download and unpack the HTC_Touch_Pro_home zip file and you’ll find the install options inside.
You will have the original graphic files too, if you want to change them back later.
Download HTC_New_Default.tsk also, if you still don’t have it.
You should donate my work if you like it! Thank you very much!
Nice iconset, they really do look good.
You should contact emunutz at PocketEmu Software
so he can add your icon pack to his HTC Home Customizer.
Your icons would be available to many more users and
it would be much easier to install them.
Good job!
mice wrk ! ! ! !
I LK it
Thank you!

Hello!
Before you copy the files to your device you have to disable the htc home plugin:
Settings/Today/Items/HTC Home
after this you can copy the files and can replace the originals
hhc
is there any way to use this icons with the Htc home customizer? I think I have to rename the files and put them into a folder....

i don't use hhc so i don't really know, but a guy from pocketemu sent me an e-mail that he will add my icons to the HHC. visit the pocketemu page and maybe it's already there
Some new things
I have some new little things for those who like them.
You can have a blue backlight for the default HTC clock what I think looks pretty good with my Blue icons.
download and extract Bluelite.zip and put the 3 files to the /Windows folder of your device.
1. You have to disable the HTC Home plugin first:
Settings/Today/Items/HTC Home
2. Then you can copy and replace the original files.
3. Enable the HTC Home again and that's all
The other file is just a replacement for the default contact picture in the PocketCM. You can have my blue person icon as default.
Copy the png file to the /Windows folder. That's all.
Cool Man!! They Are Very Cool!! Just Fit Htc Style!
Thanks!

[SKN][REQ] 6.5 WM dialer

Well I think its fairly apparent that M$ is not going to make a newer style native dialer for 6.5 so we may be stuck with the same dialer from the WM5 days.
Is anyone willing to redesign the layout of WM dialer? We have several different skins, but I think a new layout is whats needed for 6.5, perhaps to mimic the HTC dialer, or perhaps different.
Any takers?
Edit: I will update the first post and add in everything that we can come up with for easy access. Thanks to all who support.
+1 for this. Not sure if the layout can be chnged yet, but maybe some skin to make it look changed. Is there some existing skins for this somewhere already?

+1 for the layout change though. There is some unused space at the top that I don't like. The number buttons are not quite finger friendly either. IMO.
Maybe we coud post a zip with all the stock images and reg entries to make it easy on skinners. Can someone put together a zip with all of this stuff and Adam can link it in first post?
I will most likely have a look at this too, but busy at the time being. I'd like to make it look like the HTC dialer, and then go from there.
Not sure if this is the same dialer, but there are a few skins for stock dialer at www.skinzone.org. They were from 6.1, so not sure if they would still work.
EDIT: I gathered up the images real quick, but didn't get the registry yet. Let me know if you think I missed an image.

Sure thing, I will update the first post and add in everything that we can come up with for easy access. Hopefully people will see that something is being done and will join in. It may not hurt to contact some good people with photoshop skills either like Herg and bilbobrian.
Edit: After thinking about it, we may get better coverage if this was moved to the Development and Hacking forum.
I wish they would make the dialer the same as how they have the dial pad for the lock screen...that would be sweet if somebody could make a skin or dialer like that:
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2009/02/windows-mobile-65-ofc10.jpg
Somoene skinned the HTC dialer to match the buttons in 6.5 and it looked really good.

i'll take a crack at it later tonight after work...its been bugging me too.
That would be awesome... and I know we can expect something good from you, you always seem to post top knotch applications/themes/tweaks.

Attached is something that I quickly knocked up to make the WM6.5 dialer look a bit more like the lock screen when in a call.
I hope that it is useful.

Matt, what is the file attached. I noticed the different default theme pictures in the folders, but I am not sure how this file should be used. Is it a program that allows you to choose a theme? If so, which file to you run and do you run from pc over activesync or from the device itself?
If you extact it on your PC, the directories are for cooking and if you run the "make_cabs.bat" you should get a folder called cabs with installable cab files that will change the phone's skin. You need to soft reset to get the phone to use them after you install the cab (or copy the files over in Resco Explorer from the folder of your choice.)
(see attachments - I am using the Blue Drop theme)
big thanks

I hate to admit that the same happened for me. I ran it three times...then I thought about it. And I refreshed the window.
I doubt this is your problem, but I had to put it out there.
just to let everyone know, i am working on something, I'm toying with going with squared-off buttons (see 6.5 calc for an example) or the lockscreen-esque rounded buttons (similar to mpattman). should have some time this weekend to really polish it.
Rounded buttons.

Icons

i've been trying to figure out how to customize my icons for a while now. so far, i've acquire a program called ResHacker and downloaded numerous different collections of icons. however, i have no idea which file to navigate to, inside of ResHacker, in order to change the icons. I was able to track down the files for the manila editor, but the icons seem to be hidden a little better xD any help?
What icons are you trying to change?
the ones in start menu/quicklinks (youtube, facebook, task manager, etc.) and also the ones across the top bar (reception, battery life, start menu icon, etc.)
I use the program Restart for that. Search the forum for a download. Its very easy to use!
For start menu/quicklink icons, try JWMD Icon Changer
The "top bar icons" you talked about are called taskbar icons. There are plenty of custom taskbars around xda, just do a search for it (remember to include your wm build in the search)
actually, i was trying to figure out how to cook these changes into a ROM. i know how to change them once i've installed the ROM, i just can't figure out how to cook new ones into my ROM.

if you know how to get it all setup on your rom after flash like you want, then cooking it in is easy. get all your start menu icons/folder icons fixed on your rom like you want them, then use a reg editor to export this to your pc
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start]
now make an extended pkg, using this reg export as the app.reg and the pics for your icons in the files folder of the ext pkg. put this ext pkg to run at the end of cooking cycle so the registry or pics dont get overwritten and thats it
for taskbar icons, find a set you like and use cab2oem then extrebuild to make an extended package from the cab and place it in your kitchen.

Dear Trekfan422991,
I downloaded both “iDIAL” & “iCONTACT” CAB files prior to downloading the “Intui-tech Intui-Skins.cab” from http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ onto my HTC HD2 device.
However, I have serious misgivings about the way these applications are offered to the user. I have no doubts that these applications are very useful and indeed do look very nice on the Internet site.
But, the instructions are hazy, misleading and frustrating. For one; a CAB file should be constructed in a way that the user won’t have to apply various other steps in addition to the actual installation in order to make the app work.
If however there is the need for some extra steps taken during and/or after the installation, they should be clearly described in a logical sequence. This is clearly missing from this application.
To be more precise, for a start there are problems with the “iDIAL” & “iCONTACT” applications. Once lodged there is no command to close down these applications other than pressing the return hardware button, which doesn’t really closes these apps. Furthermore, the instruction in “Intui-tech Intui-Skins” that one should use the settings; there are no such function exists in those two apps.
Sure, once I read in your blogs that there are some PNG files to deal with, the issue became a bit clearer, and at the same time more confusing as well, because from the “Intui-tech Intui-Skins” installation guide these were missing.
By this time one really sorry that started the whole business and wishes to remove these apps from the device. Alas, they do not appear under the “Remove Application” list, thus one has to remove them manually from the File Explorer.
Weather or not they left some traces behind is an open question. As to the “Intui-tech Intui-Skins”, it doesn’t appear anywhere in the device, thus it cannot be removed it seems…
I wish that such half-baked applications will not appear on these WM sites, and especially not when the instructions are misleading. I hope that my criticism will be taken as a positive one…

the only reason i created a cab... (my first cab ever actually)
was to make it easier to place ONE IMAGE EACH in the icontact and idialer program file folder
all my cab does is essentially place an image in a folder
no uninstall was provided for them because it is just one image for each program
and if you know how to change your settings in icontact you dont have to uninstall it just simply select the default skin instead..

Awesome job on this skin man. I installed it and it looks outstanding. Goes great with the dark look I shoot for with my phone. Thanks a bunch!
Looks good brother...

[Q] Rom Cooking Questions

HI guys
I seem to try a lot of roms but would like an easy optioin to go back to my preferred layout. I dont want to use a backup program as I am also learning rom cooking.
OK so what I want to do is take overcome, pack adwlauncher into it AND modify its settings (add icon theme, move front screen icons, add some widgets to the homescreen etc)
I Have been experimenting and not having much luck.
First thing i did was edit the build.prop and modify the density to my liking. Works fine.
I deleted launcher.apk from and added adwlauncher.apk to /system/app.
It boots but no launcher , I assumed it would come up with the default "select program for this action" in first book allowing me to set adwlauncher, but it does not.
So useless to me, no launcher.
How do i do this?
I also assume that there is a better place to put adw so as to allow for updating? Where are market programs stored?
ALSO
How do I change adw's settings to my liking and pre package them?
I assume I can just setup adw how I like, take the config files off my galaxy AND package them into the overcome zip somewhere. Where might they be and where might I need to put them to.
Oh one other thing, adwthemes. These come from market I'm assuming as an apk. If I just add the apk to appropriate place is that enough for adw to see them so that once my config is in place the correct icons will be used.
Thanks very much for any help guys and excuse me if these answers are easy to find, I didnt have much luck with my search terms.
Hopefully one day I will be talented enough to build my own overcome. lol
