ERK: I'm confused...

Sorry to come up with such a post, but after reading all the how-to's and tons of posts I'm still missing something about the ERK's.
1) For example, in order to install ERK_1.3X_004, do I have to install the ship (Xda_IIs_v131139_upgrade.exe) and then go on manually copying the Extended Rom (O2_UK_XDAIIS_Ext_ROM_131139_WWE )? Would this come out to be a full ERK_1.3X_004? From my tests it doesn't seem...
2) I downloaded the content of the Extended_ROM_Kitchen_1_3X from the ftp. Should I add those files to the Extended ROM? If yes, is there a config.txt availabe somewhere or do I have to write it myself?
3) Or put more simply, can someone explain in few steps (and very few words) the process for upgrading my QTEK9090 to ERK_1.3X_004? I'm a newbie, but I know how to unlock the Extended_ROM and how to use xda3nbftool.
I know it's boring to answer such questions, but I don't find the procedure anywhere (also in Wiki). Thanks a lot
J
In as few words as possible
1) In order to install ANY extneded roms
- Download the rar
- Extract the files (onto your devce)
- Run the ones you want to (with tap on cab file out of file manger)
2) In order to make any extrom changed permant
- place the files in the ext rom folder
- edit the config.txt with that name

Question about Extended ROM cooking

I have succesfully updated my PDA2k from the standard ITalian ROM to the one in my signature
I'm very happy and I would like to thanks All for the support
Now I would like to cook my first Extended ROM and I have a very simple question but, I have not been able to find the answen in the wiki
The Extende ROM I have now doesn't contains the Config.txt file but the Setup.exe.
During the cooking process. Should I take out the .exe file and substitute it with my oun Confing.txt?
Thanks
Asmodeo
There is a rason for that.
In some roms that have gone through the kitchen 1.3x we have noticed that the autorun, config.txt has been subsitutted by a new methord setup.exe.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_ERK_X_131112
What you need to do is downlaod an old version Ext rom which has the autorun, confix txt.
Extract those files 2 files, delete the setup.exe and add the autorun, config txt to your ext rom (oh yes and dont forget to edit the config.txt)
The one I use is in the imate 1.22 162 and found on wiki

ROM Editing...Is this correct?? Please READ!!!

I am trying to modify a ROM for my BA with the use of imgfs tools I downloaded from buzzdev.. This is what I did... (hope someone here could comment if this is correct) I have not tried flashing any of my modified ROM coz i dont still have my BA with me, mabe this 3rd week of sept I will have it in my hands!!! LOL
Here's how:
1.) I tried helmi v1.3 (I converted nk.nbf to nk.nba with the use of nba converter)
2.) Prepare_imgfs nk.nba
3.) viewimgfs imgfs_raw_data.bin
4.) modified the dump directory (added the wm5torage, pocketrar, taskmanager v1.4.4)
5.) edit the initflasfiles.dat with the use Notepad (deleted the 2byte signature with the use of ULtraEdit)
6.) I also edit the default.hv with the use of rgucomp (I dont know if i made it correctly) to include the registry entries of WM5torage) (Well I succesfully convert it to rgu, edit it with the use of UltraEdit save it as unicode and I managed to convert it to .hv file successfully without any errors)
7.) Buildimgfs
8.) make_imgfs nk.nba
Is this a correct way of modifying the ROM? If not, how? I read alot of posts here (xda and buzzdev) on how to modify a ROM with use of imgfs tools and this is how I understood it... hehehe
Is the rom i made workable? Thanks hope soomeone here could help me!!! by the way here is the attached rgu and hv file i modified!!
I might suggest trying the Bepe ROM Kitchen.. quite a bit easier
Yeah its easier>>!!
I tried the method you said..But for me this is simplier... So based on your own understanding, is that correct? I know you have done modifying a lot of roms already....
Thanks
So anybody here could give some more opinions>>>Pls
Anyone?
Anyone???
It seems OK the way you did.
I did the same way as you when I used XdaII or Himalaya.
I edited BA ROM this way too.
One thing to tell you is that you will not know that it works or not until you flash it in your device.
The file you add may overload the space if you don't delete some files you don't use.
I delete transcriber because I don't use it and will have about 500 KB for adding some files I want.
Flash it and you will know the answer yourself.
8)
Thanks
Thank vivi.. Yeah I did, i deleted some of the files in the rom (which I donot use at all) to have some space for my additional files... btw, I read about boot.hv (like on the other method) do I need it also in this method? Or is it included in the default.hv?
I left boot.hv in dump folder and didn't touch it.
I edited only default.hv and initflashfiles.dat.
But it is a long time not doing.I nearly forget the steps to do.
I think Helmi ROM is OK and I use it as it is.
OOOH
I dont see any boot.hv in the dump directory? Did i mess somthing?
Yup It seems that Helmi ROMs are great..Thanks again

exe-->cab-->ROM Cook help?

Hi there! I'm new to cooking. All I want is to cook one program into stock R3AA rom.
Program is a 3 parts of .exe files that are run from device. (It is a Anti-Thief program)
How can I find all files that have been installed, and how to create a .cab with them? And how to cook that created .cab to stock rom?
Ill describe the procedure:
--> Install program from .exe's (done it)
---> configure program (done it)
----> get all installed files (done)
-----> create a CAB with them
(which will place files in their place after HARD RESET) (same as above)
------> cook that .cab to stock ROM (help needed also )
-------> flash a ROM (this I can do )
As a result: my X1 will be protected from thievery even after hard reset.
PLEASE write some step-by-step guide to do that, ill be GREATFUL!
EDIT:
I've found installed files. Now I only need to somehow create a .cab with them that will extract them to /Windows folder, and cook that .cab to ROM to self extract after hard reset.

[Q] Extract Rom - Small carrier

Hi all!
I've done a lot of searching on this topic between here, PPC, Google, and haven't found any definitive answers, so I'm going this route and asking.
I have a CDMA Touch Diamond (DIAM500) on a small regional carrier (Nex-tech Wireless - Google it as I can't post links), that also roams on the Sprint network. I'm wanting to backup the ROM before I flash to something else. With using a small carrier, I'm not confident that a Sprint rom would work, thus wanting to extract what my phone currently uses.
My goal is to end up with a file that I can flash back to. I've already flashed to the HSPL .57 with no problems. I've found a set for the Nex-tech Touch Pro, but I doubt it's fully compatible.
I've also seen the directions here (thread 334680 on these forums) and have extracted the files, but I'm not too sure what to do next.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm on the same carrier as kazoni and would also be interested in an answer to this...
you can use the itsme tools to extract the rom bin files.
than U will need a similar base rom to build it back.
extract your base rom.
U will not need a full kitchen as some have sugested.
U will need to identify the xip.bin and imgfs.bin from the device.
use xipport to implant your xip into os.nb.payload
use imgfstonb to implant your imgfs to os.nb.payload.
nbmerge os.nb.payload with os.nb.extra to make os.nb
use an nbh tool to create RUU_signed.nbh from your os.nb and your set.
