After moving over to a vga device I wanted to make a new skin for the Phonecanvas from HTC. I already did so with the TouchFLO 2D dialer but I was using a third party repack of the dialer and it gave a lot of problems. So this time I've only redone the graphics so it won't mess with the current functionality of your phone.
How to install:
Check if your phone is VGA or QVGA and download the right file for you..
Check if you are using the HTC Phonecavas with Slide to Answer.
Check if you don't have any dialerskins installed.
!READ!If you don't have the latest Phonecanvas from the Diamond 2.03 rom (VGA) or the latest Opal Phonecanvas install the complete cab. If you do have it installed you are suited with just the graphics cab.!READ!
Intall the cab and soft-reset.
Enjoy!

-Phonelock Curtain Addon VGA (if you want the Phone lock in call)First install the Canvas then the fix!

FAQ:
Q: Will the release include QVGA, WQVGA or WVGA?
A: No only VGA and QVGA.
Q: Where is the download?
A: It's still a preview, no download yet.
Q: In what kind of package will it come?
A: It will be a replacement for all of the files that come with the Diamond's phone canvas. So you will need to have it cooked in your rom and my cab will overwrite default images.
Q: Will Videocall and all other functions work?
A: If it works ATM on your phone and you have the new Phonecanvas cooked in your rom, it will still work yes. It only replace images, not the dll that makes everything work.
Q: Is it for the Samsung Omnia?
A: NO, and it never wil be! (sorry I don't like Omnia users, most of them are newbies at WM and ask stupid questions)
Q: How about landscape support?
A: Not yet, this is because I have a Diamond and don't use landscape. Future Development depends on how many people need it/free time/private matters/donations.
Q: No call history?
A: Not yet, this also depends on the previous reasons. Plus I am looking for some sprecific images that I can't find and I do need to complete the skin.
Q: What if I have a rom that does not have the PhoneCanvas in it to begin with?
A: Find a rom that has de Phonecanvas, I'm sorry but up to date I don't think there is a cab though I can try to extract it someday.
Q: Can it be uninstalled?
A: Yes it should be ok.
Q: I can't read the history's text in the main dialer screen.
A: This is probably because it is white with your rom, download and install this cab and soft reset.

Mate,It is easily the best dialpad skin that I have seen so far. Its soo smooth. I love it so far. But the problem comes here- I have a qvga screen,so that means I wont be able to use your skin. But as you said you will port it to qvga later, I'll wait for the completion of the skin and porting to qvga.

You don't know how much trouble that'd create. A guy's thread was closed in the Theme, Apps, and software section of the diamond section because he started to charge for his themes. He was charging like 2 euro.

True. But the point is, if you're going to offer freeware, keep it freeware. Don't say it's freeware and make it shareware once it gains popularity.

Another thing I've thought about is making it donateware but the problem there is that some people just can't use paypal or realy don't even have a dollar to spare. I don't want zo prohibit certain people from using my software though I want that people who can donate, also give a little donation to show their gratitude.
I mean, all the work I've done here on XDA has cost me a lot of free days/weekends. And sure, I also make them for my own phone but a lot of times I also add features or customize graphics to user needs just because they want it and not because I'll use them. (throttlelauncher weather, landscape dialers, vga dialer when I don't even had a vga phone at the time, etc.)
So in the end my software will remain 'free' but I hope ik can trust the XDA community leechers to give something in return. Or else I might just stop releasing my work on XDA.

-I need to skin the VideoCalling screen but I don't have the ability to use Videocalling so I need someone to make some screenshots of that. I need as much of the graphics as possible, so also the brightness modifier and other things you can think of. Please make a bmp screenshot with mymobiler and upload it on a different site than xda. (xda will resize it and compress etc, making the quality bad) Please send me a link in a PM so the thread won't get cluttered.

It's good to know I'm not the only one with an emotional attachment to my phone. LOL
Try out my CleanROM and tell me what you think. It's not the prettiest but I was aiming for speed and a stable ROM with no bugs before actually cooking the apps.
Vista compatibility, big memory, lots of free ram. I think thats a good base, and then let people add all of their bell and whistles themselves.....
Oh and by the way, Ivan, the bluepad is running quite nicely!

perhaps if there are not enough herald users that respond, another wing release would be nice. if you are willing to supply, but the demand is low for heralds, might as well switch the supply to the high demand of wing users. just my 2 cents -and i would really appreciate it.

And I agree, BS is a better app then omap.
But when the rom is released, I dont want to hear any complaints on what is left out and w/e is in the rom, cause all have diffrent needs.
But I will try to clean out all "scrap" that consume to much of memory.

Nice to hear the possibility of you creating a much needed and clean herald rom. IF you were to create a clean rom, I would definitely like the (1) Quick menu (2)HTC Actionscreen, (3) Totalcommander, (4)classikblack.tsk, (5) batterystatus, and (6) touch flo.
Also to add - I like the "Extra" and the "Office Mobile" folders (and what they included) that were included in the Touch-It version 3, as well.
Quickmenu is not a option, but im sure you can use a cab
that's fantastic news if you are going to go ahead with it, over and above what you have included before I would love to see included;
rss hub, htc large start menu and titlebar, htc action menu, tcpmp with the youtube plugins, WM5torage, and WinRAR instead of the zip app, adobe reader le, jbed java (instead of midlet manager).
Also I saw in somebody elses ROM that they have included fax viewer in their office setup, would love that.
Obviously I understand that everybody wants different things, but I think all herald users would appreciate an update of any type. Keep up the good work!

If he's making a Wing ROM, then there's already a clean ROM... if he's making a Herald ROM, he can just use my Base and change the keymap.

6.1..yeah I wish I had that one
but no, its just a port from another "new" HTC device
The basic test rom is up on my p4350 now, so the port was success, well atleast to booting up and running ok.
Now it needs to be cleaned up and be cooked into a "brand new" look
but 6.1 is out somewhere.
there are videos.
but it is discussed as "not very much new and only new looking"...

Check out the dialer included in this rom for the Polaris... from what it looks like, its surely got to be a skin for the Touch-Dual dialer and thats what I need for my Tilt that has the original one extracted by Dutty..

... Mods.. thanx for moving this into the general Kaiser forum. I'll admit I'm guilty of slipping on purpose and posted in the wrong section... we're all only human! I need this dialer so bad that when I saw Kaiser General - 74 viewers, Kaiser Rom - 225 viewers.. I succumbed! LOL.
You've gotta admit though the dialer is AWESOME looking. I've gotten so used to the touch-dual dialer on my Tilt and this one seems like it would take care of the only gripe I have about it, the key-press accuracy is horrendous on it. This one looks to have much more defined boundaries and the black on white buttons.. all looks just purrrfect!!
PLEASE.. someone doo the kaiser community a favor and get us this dialer!.. Mr. Tom Codon.. hope ur reading somewhere.
the problem with finding the cab is none exist. everyone gets it from tom in OEM form and no one has made the cab yet.

Hi Pawel062... thanx for the reply. Although I'm in shock to know that no one of you cooks have compiled the dialer into a standalone installable cab!!?
What would it take for getting one of you guys to do that? I'm serious... (not being sarcastic, but a genuine question)!
In Dutty's public beta test rom dated May 22, this dialer is cooked in. However, he abandoned the rom due the amount of bugs on it, presumably caused by porting the interface from diamond to kaiser. This shows that it can be done though. I have been searching ever since I reflashed to L26's Diamond V5 Hybrid. I loved it, but not enough to keep a buggy, unsupported rom (although it was the best attempt I've seen so far!). I'm sure people are working on it though, but it seems it is not as simple as you might think, and as I thought.
sakajati's latest build, HyperDragon III WM6.1 WWE ROM CE OS 5.2.19588 Build 19588.1.1.4 (Diamond ROM) incorporates some of the diamond interface, such as the comm manager and keyboards, but goes on to say:
"Obviously there is more work to be done. There's some packages from Diamond rom I'm currently working on like the Dialer, Audio Manager, MP3 Trimmer etc."
So it's a case of waiting at the moment. If anyone fancies trying to extract the dialer from Dutty's Diamond rom (May 22) I'm sure there are lots of people who would be very grateful. I toyed with the idea but unfortunately wouldn't have a clue where to start.

thanks for such an insightful reply! I'm gonna stick around to see who compiles a cab of the dailer.. you're right, there would be many takers of such an awesome looking dialer.
I think there should be a dedicated thread in Development and Hacking section which should have all of the dialers being worked on currently and the ones in the past. Come to think of it, the one common thing all these devices do is that they're there to make a simple phone call when one needs to... so why hasn't a dedicated thread been stickied yet? This way one can try out all of the dialers every make/posted on the forums.
Just my 2 cents..

If someone is willing to test for me, I'll compile a cab tonight or tomorrow. It's fairly simple, I've done others for roms past. HOWEVER, I just deleted my last dump though & need the image files in QVGA if someone can get them or dump them that would be great.

I need the files though, I can't dump again till tomorrow as I have a social call to make tonight. I am certain I can make it work as a skin real easy, geting the full screen call ID & Call accept/reject may be a different story.
Has anyone the QVGA files for a dump? Who is this mysterious tom? I can get them from a dump of Dutty rom, but I have to do it the old tool imgfs, rev/rec way as it will not cook in a kitchen. I can do it, but it'll take time. Much better if someone can link me to the QVGA images in an OEM, whatever the other chefs are using.
Unfortunately, as mentioned, I've since reflashed from Dutty's Test Rom and just got everything the way I like it with L26's Diamond Hybrid V5, & I don't really have the time to reflash, learn the Rom dumping process from scratch, and then reflash again and set it all back up. If anyone is willing though, we wait anxiously!

You can do it. Just not with standard kitchen. I'll do it this weekend I guess.
That would be excellent, but if you could give me more of an idea of what kitchen to use and where to get it I'll sort out the files if it helps. I'm sorry, I've never used a kitchen before or cooked or dumped/reconstructed any roms myself. Not that I couldn't learn to do it. I'm normally pretty good with that kind of stuff. It's just that with the high standard being produced at the moment with WM6.1s, Hybrids and now porting Diamond roms, I know other people are developing things that are way beyond my means as a beginner, so I'm reluctant to get started if you see what I mean!
But I don't mind spending a bit of time figuring this out if it contributes to the cause. If somebody could give me a good clue on where to start, I'll see what I can come up with.
Otherwise, we'll all just sit back and wait for GSLEON3 to do it for us! (Which would be much easier, of course!)

now if someone can let me know what folder and files i would need to make a cab file then i could potentially do it. i'm not as special as GSLEON, i don't have an unlimited supply of devices but i do currently have 4 with one more on the way so i can test my cabs

Same here, I think the main problem for me once having the right program and procedure figured out would be grabbing the right files to make the cab.
I'm sure it wont be long before this is about though. Even if GSLEON3 doesn't get around to it over the weekend, it will come soon.

With that said, it's more like an add on to Binary's already crazy cool theme.
You can apply it as a standalone theme, but at this point in time, don't...

Ok so I have been crackin out on this for the past little while and I want to share the wealth with everyone else. This couldn't have been done if it wasn't for all you out there who helped me. This is a mashup of Binary100100's CHM+Steiricsson Lockscreen and many others that I found. Icons came from the web from an open source project.

After reading the thread Super E (if you're not aware of it, don't worry), it came to my attention that there are a select few of us (mainly one, as of now...) who "steal" the work from others and claim it as their own. I for one, think this is wrong. I like to give credit to those who deserve it but I must confess, sometimes I don't know where the credit needs to be given.
I'm still new to the xda forums. About a month long member as of 2-5-10.
The quote above was not placed to make this guy look bad. It was placed to remind me of who he is. So for all you haters out there and wrecking crew, don't bash cause that wasn't my intentions.
But as another member mentioned, and I don't remember his name...

With that in mind, we need to come to an understanding that ALL themes and ALL ROMs have some shared values. Rather it be the compile that the guys in the Super E thread were speaking of while bashing Ben accusing him of never making anything of his own or the man above telling me to credit his dial pad while I use it.
In my opinion, none of this matters with an open source platform such as Android and Linux. If it's out there and you know how to customize it to your pleasing, by all means do so cause I would love to see what the next guy comes up with on top of what I already had. As said once, if it weren't for the man coming along and picking up where the last man left off/ if it weren't for the man coming along and improving upon what the last man left off, we'd still be in the dark ages...
So to some of you, ya. I guess I am a thief but I don't see it that way.
I see myself as a dev/theemer (whatever you wanna call me) from the open source platform of the future.
This will be the greatest platform if we devs/theemers would just squash the beef with the whole "you stole my ****" thing cause really, we're all stealing from someone.

Get CHM_BinaryRelease+RegLaunch 1.7 from the cm updater in the themes section.
Then apply it. After recovery has flashed it, don't reboot. Flash the heclairo.zip then reboot.
I have discovered that home+back reboots things more smoothly than trackball as well...

I've been working on a few things and decided I WILL NOT put another update out until MAJOR changes happen. For example, 1.5 will consist of the menu images getting themed... (the menu button...)

Update - 2-19-2010
I got all my parts back from RMA yesterday and just finished rebuilding the beast tonight. Skeptical about the replacement cpu heatsink WITHOUT a fan but things seem to be running smoother than ever. And quite now which is a great plus.
Tomorrow, I will get the sdk and eclipse running and start crackin on the theme!
So I have heard that there will be a 15.1
Because of this news, I will wait until that comes out. Then I will wait a little longer but expect a v1.4.1 this weekend.
And sadly enough, some of my surprises will be spoiled. But not many.

Few fixes,made it 100% finger-friendly,fully customizable interface,easy to use,absolutely no lag on 200MHz phone (and higher,logical),changed order look and new better icons in weather hub,new backgrounds (Much thx to PollPix for images and ideas)
Added Landscape mode
-theme is a little heavy on disc space so i ported all of Portrait images to use the ones in Landscape mode so they come in pack or Portrait will not work.
-weather images must be copyed and replaced in "program files\lakeridge\wad\"
Installation:

Just copy zip contents to program files\lakeridge\wad\themes on your phone memory,or where ever you installed wad.
Copy font file (Segoe UI Light.ttf) to windows\fonts
Backup folder "program files\lakeridge\wad\WeatherIcons" and copy/overwrite over it folder WeatherIcons from zip, than choose in "long tap/Author Mode/settings/weather/large icon set/" and set directory to fresh copied "program files\lakeridge\wad\WeatherIcons" directory.
The same is for medium size icons,just setup to use folder "program files\lakeridge\wad\WeatherIconsMedium".
To use shortcuts im music+video for music files,make playlist files of desirable available albums,make shortcuts of them in some new folder in "windows\start menu\programs" and download image of that album from net.
When tap on empty shortcut in list choose playlist link,choose custom icon you downloaded and your ready to go!
Similar is for pictures gallery,just make shortcuts of folders you want to use,make custom icon and thats it.
Than for more useability go to start menu/settings/personal/buttons and change button2 or whatever you like to <start menu>. (its very useful)
I think there are no bugs in this version but if are tell me so i can fix it.

My charmer died yesterday and so is my work on it. I almost finished whole new theme based on wp7,ported on all resolutions, and upgrades on this one but didnt have time to save it to mmc.. i dont have any wm phone to continue my work so i gues this is it.. if anyone finds this theme good enough to continue my work please do,i dont mind.

Second: I did not shared anything, I just made icons and answered peoples questions how to work with WAD2. You don't own that program, and the more people know how it works, and share their work, the better for this community!
Are you afraid you will not sell enough of your theme????
Making Icons is not a crime my friend...you even post it to all your customers as a link for crying out loud, so what is your problem???

In some countries it's not possible to use PayPal, some people (like me) can't use their credit card with them and so some people try to "steal" your files from different warez-sites...
I think there will be no way to stop this.
So it's better to let some "skinners" make their own wads or throttle-launcher versions of WM7.

First, I would just like to say that I do not condone 'theft' of work, nor do I approve of bastardising someone elses work and calling it your own.
I had NOTHING to do with this theme, so I'm a NEUTRAL party in all of this.
Stickman; It's been a long time coming, but it needs saying.
I think you're completely missing the whole concept and ethos of the Android community; It is about sharing and helping one another. It's not a competition or a battle between developers. Frankly, that kind of mentality isn't welcome around here.
I'd also like to say this:
Without naming ANY names, as I won't stoop down to your pitiful level, the Villain team have been hiding things within code & scripts for some time. A hell of a lot of our work has been "stolen" quite recently. Do you see us crying about it on the forum???

Why's that? Because the Android community is all about sharing. I have PM'd those people requesting that credits are added to the first post - and that's all that needs to be done.
Let's spin this around full circle...
When you first arrived at this forum, as a themer (let's face it; that's what you are), you ported (read; copied PNGs) from Manup's theme into your ROM and added a little bit of your own design work.
Did Manup turn up telling you to take down the work you had STOLEN?
No.
What really gets to me about all of this, is that you have actually been thanked in the opening post. What a joke. You don't ever thank people in your post. WHY?
I have a theory.
You're a 21 year old with an attitude problem.
You're someone with a superiority complex, that is of the belief that the majority of this community are gullible idiots.
You feel no need to thank for work which you have "borrowed" from others. ( check the m5d checksum on your boot.img, compare it with VillainROM & possibly some other roms ).
In my opinion, and I really hope that matters around here after all the work I have put in... you are a disgrace to this community.
I risk getting myself banned for this post; but so be it.
I feel SO strongly about this. You really need to get real.
GET REAL to the fact that your ROMs are not in fact yours.
GET REAL to the fact that people will borrow your work and credit you from time to time.
GET REAL to the fact that you are not the heart and soul of this community.
GET REAL to the fact that you're a hypocrite. You've "stolen" work and not credited too.
Just get real.

i can assure you that nathan has put a LOT more time in villain rom to make it work. the problem here is, that stickman regularly and violently complains about ppl not giving credit when using others (esp. his) work. then he goes out, uses parts of nathans rom and claims it as his own, without giving ANY credit at all. you think this is right?
btw, we have known about stickman copying from villainrom for a few days now, there woulnd't have been any blaming if he hadn't make a big fuzz about this theme...
It seems to me that far too much of the community here is stealing form someone else and calling it their own. Frankly it makes me sick that people have the audacity to post their rip offs and claim it to be a work of their own, but honestly what can one do? There's no need to get up in arms about it, like I've said once or twice before, just give credit where credit is due and be gracious when you get it.

Sorry for newbie question, but how exactly can i delete that system app with rosie lockscreen? i have villainrom 5.4, rooted (i hope), but file explorers say Error deleting file or HTCLockScreen.apk cannot be removed. Can someone help me or link me to relevant topic? Searching in G2's forum gives irelevant results... Please
3 main ways:
1. get a file browser that supports root, like "Root Explorer"
2. using adb

adb shell rm /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
adb shell reboot
3. search for "android commander" app on xda, it uses busybox to manipulate files on your phone from your PC via a usb cable.

im just a noobs...but i think your themes is exactly the same with sticky themes in senseHERO 2.1.... no offence and no flames
changing all green stuff to blue stuff is ridiculously easy, i have a script which does that, his lockscreen is from an official ROM (check SlideVillain and you'll see what im talking about), sensehero's sense bar original one was not his and he never asked permission for it from manup. And the status bar is no where near the same.

Yes it is, but Stickman did not build the theme himself either (he did some work to it). I can't remember now who created the origional theme
