1: download the ROM and unzip/unrar it to the root of your Storage Card
2: make sure you have an X1 with HardSPL - how can I do that?
3: read the SD Card method flashing topic (you can flash oldstyle with PC too but it will take longer and has more error possibilities)
4: the flashing takes only 3-4 minutes, after that do a soft reset (take off the battery cover, pull out the stylus and push it into the hole in the right lower area of its holder)
5. set up the initial settings and wait for the customization to complete (it will reset the X1)

Official ITA ROM bug: Camera menu is messed up, if you want to use it, replace the files in /Program Files/XperiaCamera/ with the files in this archive [SE needs to fix this!]
UC packs (for non-WWE roms you need to replace 'Storage Card' for your language in the SDConfig.txt to make it work!)

Known bug prior v1.04: Xperia Media Panel doesn't show pictures (only in 'flowing' mode), there is a cache manager error in the Media Player panel, I can't fix it, but you can change back the system cache to 4MB, then it will work (but the system will slow down a little)...

I saw it, it looks nice... so colorful But I don't want to include finixnover's battery icon pack either. Maybe I'll put Batti to the UC loader
May I suggest to use the Yota Dialer and Contacts Pl.
yota isn't very easy to cook into the rom, it's caused problems on a few ones now..
It's better at present to install it as a cab I think.
I'll include Yota Contacts in the UC pack (Yota Dialer has problems overlapping the SE dialer). I would like to include Inesoft Phone, but it's not free...
Could you also include a version of MS Voice Commander that works in your cooked rom in the cabs too?
i like the light but highly functional rom you are trying to achive
please tell me what you think of the follwoing sueggestions
1-UCweb is better than opera mini and will save you from requiring to install java+opera mini+gmail client (just use outlook for gmail)
2-two browsers included opera mobile + bandwidth friendly one like opera mobile mini or UCweb
3-menus and quickmenu are made finger friendly with big icons
4-"homescreen plus plus" since you not doing touchflo
5-fast and small finger friendly keyboard like pcm or hd keyboard
6-easy and quick wifi enabling from start button or programs "aktogglewifi"
7-tcmp not as good as core but is much better than nothing as in the default rom and is free
8-need to do do something about button functionality to increase the default usablity of the phone. since you are totaly ripping panels( like jacks 1.08 rom is a good start)
9- lots of small games (like kevris,pocket sand...ets) and useful essential applications (e.g. flash, ,obex inbox, fexploreext ,pocketpeek...etc)

1. I prefer Opera Mini as the low bandwidth browser, GMail is still optional, I may remove it from the package (it's easier to config and use for newbies than outlook)
2. the two browsers will be there (I'll try to add Netfront latest beta too, works fine on the X1)
3. QuickMenu will be there
4. I don't know this and don't want to change the today screen from the standard (only wireless plugin will be enabled after first start)
5. HD keyboard and the hardware keyb don't work well together, PocketCM still has a lot of bugs, I would prefer SPB Keyboard and Resco Keyboard, but those are not free. It is also a personal choice
6. Quickmenu can do this and the Wireless today plugin will be active in the rom - you touch it and it takes you to the Comm Manager
7. yes, there is a new version that supports srt subtitles, will go into the UC package
8. I don't want to touch button settings, only rip panels from rom and then you can choose which one to install. Panelmanager will be there.
9. I think these are personal choices, but maybe later I'll put a free games pack together
BTW: are there any programs or users who use Streaming Media on the X1?
how about including mortplayer? its much better than the pocket windows media player..

BBC Iplayer uses streaming media to view content, of no interest to anyone outside the UK, but plenty of inside!
this rom sucks... read & write speed is reduced alot. my previous rom was uk generic R1A, with sktools:

Im still using itje's Touch-IT Xperience v3.0...found it a little slow...but it works really well. The speed could be down to something I have done...im still learning.
BUT, im liking the sound of your ROM norti...I will keep checking back for it!

I've just updated to this ROM from Helmi AKU3.2 v1.3.2 and very impressive. I like the sounds.
Have tested the WLAN. I noticed that under "Wireless Lan", the signal strength bar isn't working. It is blank. The default taskbar signal strength works though.
Will be trying the Bluetooth with my Holux236 GPS after this.
*edit* - Now I can't seem to turn my WIFI on. Will investigate if it is caused by the cabs I installed from the Cabs folder on Ftp.

Ok, on first time device on, to turn on WIFI, you need to go to Wireless LAN to turn on WIFI first. After that, you can start using CommManager to control WIFI on/off.
If you leave WIFI on during soft reset, your wifi will be on after soft reset and you can still use CommManager to control WIFI on/off.
But, if you leave WIFI off during soft reset, then you can't turn WIFI on anymore whether via Wireless LAN switch or CommManager switch regardless how many soft resets.
Anyone can confirm this? Or rather provide a solution? Did I miss out something?
*edit* - Nevermind.. haha. It is working now somehow but my device is on fresh hard reset.

Yeah, thats right man. Its the right trick to get WIFI worked without having to SR the device. My experience told me that It would take 2 times turning on WIFI on the Wireless Lan settings, then go ahead to the CommManager. It will definitely work, at least in my situation.
I've noticed two thingys,
1. When connected to GPRS the little 'G' doesn't show up.
2. What happened to the newer version media player that was in AKU 3.3
There was no newer version of WM it was skin which have problems with video playback, the picture was shifted
WLAN - as you all know since we first seen Comm manager WLAN is turning on by Wireless Manager and then you can control it trough Comm Manager
About A2DP i have not compatible headset to test it i have mono one
There is no need to install fixes for this rom, you can try only those which removes comm manager icon and screen rotate icon from tray

Youtube cant play videos (working on fix)
found a fix, but it made other changes that wasn't good.
so I decide not to post it, but the new rom has the youtube application working .
get opera bookmarks on touchflo3D and update em there automatic
go to windows folder, create new folder named "opera9" without coutes, then goto application data, opera9 there copy file opera6.adr and then paste it in the folder created in windows called opera9.
start opera type opera:config in adress
in the page that comes up click on "user prefs" (at bottom), then look for the name "opera directory" change it from /application data/opera9/..... to /windows/opera9/....
shut down opera, then next time you start opera and add a bookmark it will show up in touchflo3D..
Bug fixes:
Action screen gps fix (allocates quick gps now, instead of google maps)
Extra files:
Action screen assigned to hold powerbutton for 3 seconds (you can shut down windows or softreset anyway through the actionscreen, it's modified to do that), it will remove the gps button on actionscreen (quickGPS).
Smaberg X1 Powerbutton 12 icons actionscreen v 1.0 - Action screen assigned to hold powerbutton for 3 seconds. This is the full program with softreset and power off option, will install on newer windows mobile 6.1. this is the updated version that will show you a green iceon when pressed.

there is problem with youtube, i can get it to work, but then the x1 wont be able to play other files and some stuff in camera(thanx ITJE for info)

Album does not hang for me.
i only used .cab files for the thing i think some user's want to remove. all other is cooked in.
if i find more users with problems in the album app hanging, i will include the socialnetwork...

Indeed, cooking a "real" ROM is much harder, as you have to deal with bugs of dozens of applications.

btw only issue will be battery..
im using your lite version and the battery life is amazing.. 2 days with normal use and a day with heavy use like games, net, mails n all...

The idea of this roms is to provide a very small and leightweight ROM running Windows Mobile 6.5 with maximum stability and performance. The device has great hardware, but the built-in software doesn't use this hardware properly at all, so its up to you to install the right applications from other software houses.
The ROM is not protected, you are invited to take it as a base for your own roms/experiments. However I had to use the "new" kitchen of ervius, which deletes any dsm files, so re-packaging is not possible. Therefore I provide the whole kitchen. You'll find it at the downloads.

Please consider that the first version is kind of a beta, as it is my first Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM. I've tested most of it, but can't ensure that there aren't any bugs, mainly as WM 6.5 isn't official yet anyway.

I don't force anyone to use it, so if you don't like the idea or concept, its OK. Personally I hate all this crap applications Microsoft & HTC are including, but thats my personal taste. Looking at the benchmark results of my barebone ROM this improves the performance very much, compared to all the other ROMs flying around in the forums here.
This Geranium ROM isn't that good in terms of performance, but I guess its Windows Mobile 6.5, as it is still a beta at all.

Personally I don't think this is useful at all, as it looks just "normal" and I'm not keen on updating the screenshots every time I release a new version . Furthermore any advanced user knows the applications anyway .
However I've attached some screenshots, don't know if this fulfils your desires.

Because usefull apps are not the same for everybody !! You've got the OS then you install only what you really need !
The real question is : Why other cookers add useless and non-uninstallable apps to their roms ?

I agree with you on one side. On another side, it will be better to provide stand alone package to install. Some of the stock package is quite useful and
hardly you can get it installed for a bare os.

Maybe I'm asking too much, but... let's give it a try.
I'm coming from (fantastic) sw-pre-filled ROMs like Dutty, Laurentinus, Miri and so on, and I begin to love the barebone philosophy. For instance maybe many users don't use Word Card Mobile, but it's a "must" for me and for my work. And I wouldn't like to see 30 Mb of precious memory eaten by some game, whether some other user would simply love that.
Ok: I'm telling nothing new to all of you, folks.
So: here is my request. Being totally noob to barebone world, I find it difficult to search and find every cab I need.
Would it be possible to have some kind of repository of the cabs you removed?

Just tell me what you need. You'll find most stuff in the forums, if not I'll try to make a cab for you. This policy works just fine for my Barebone ROM!

Same as above. Just tell me what you need, any cab that I made is listed in the third post. So far I haven't made any, as there were no request .
Btw: Its not only a question of space, but any unneeded file slows down the whole device, as it takes more cpu to manage (and cache) these files, so for me its just logical to delete most of these crap applications included by HTC (or Microsoft). As said this is a question of personal taste and its kind of a philosophy ... Anybody long enough in the Windows Mobile business has his favorite applications for his needs anyway, so the included stuff is just for everyone, but not for me .
I do like this idea. But due to missing htc album, I finally falled to onkolog lite version just because that version includes album.
I have to spend quite some time to disable the cool stuff like touchflo/booting noise and start menu etc. this is indeeded a good indication how much I like barebone ROM.
There is also no doubt that you are supportive&responsive COOKER. But I do feel it is a pain to find stock package.
I would really like to try your 2.5 barebone rom if an official john album package is available.

I don't know. Certainly it isn't that optimized than WM 6.1, as it is still a beta.

INSTALLATION NOTES:
It takes not more than 5 minutes after flashed.
FIRST BOOT after flashed:
Probably your device will seem stucked with TOP status-bar visibile with normal status icons but with white HOME page.
Don't worry, just touch one of these icons on top and Titanium will be displayed!
JUST for first boot after flashed!
COMMON ISSUES:
I've inherited this single issue from previous developer: sometime the "Explore File" application freeze and it's necessary to restart the phone.
I suggest to use Total Commander, Resco Explorer or other File Manager to surf throught your folders and then remove "Explore File" shortcut from "\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs" folder to avoid to run it accidentally.

My suggestion would be NOT adding apps into ROM (unless it is necessary for specific ones to work) and NOT removing the generally built-in ones (unless there are new versions available, eg. Opera). Plain, pure almost-original WM...

Nitrogen as music player
TCPMP as video player
Opera Mini 5 beta 2 for surfing the web (beta 2 is faster than Opera Mini 5 when opening pages; Opera Mini 5 looks better but is way slower and don't display all the pages)
Opera Mobile 10 and Internet Explorer should be installed, because there are some pages that can't be opened with one or another (or provide cabs to users)
Office - provide cab
HTC Usb2PC
Clean the apps that aren't usually used, and provide cabs for them.
