ROM topic release name standardization - XPERIA X1 ROM Development

Following the X1 ROM development subforum (and other ROM subforums) for a while I think it would be better to standardize the topic name for a ROM release to have a better reading on the topic.
My idea is the following:
{ROM's name} v{version} [features short][UC][language][firmware/based on] - other information (date as dd.mm.yyyy)
E.g. in my topic:
nX1i v1.00 [Lite][UC][UK/WWE][R2A] - released! (20.02.2009)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=478022It would be a nice clean-up for xda.
What do you think about this?

Agreed. And that's what I am using now.

Yes, the date of the update is the most important thing, I know, but I think it's the same for our eyes if it is in the first or in the last place, the topic order is always from the newest to the oldest. More important would be if everyone would use the same order in the topic names and the same formatting (as in the date). I know it's hard to accomplish for everyone to follow "rules" but...

Just a question: why don't you just put all roms in one topic instead of making new topics for different languages? It makes it easier for us to keep following the topics posted.
1. This is the ROM that I have running, if something goes wrong with my phone (software wise and hard reset doesn't work) would I be able to fix it using this ROM without having to use HSPL etc?
2. Can I upgrade to another shipped ROM without HSPL, ie 1.19xxxx?
Many thanks.

is it possible to find the rom that you have in your HD?
i can't find it anywhere....
Dimitris
thanks...........................
This post is very useful.Thank you very much for this link. But I think moderators should collect these custom ROMs and put them together, finally.
Every single ROM has its own thread.I think this is complicated, both for users who want to download and for users who want to upload. Also it is very confusing,to search the entire forum just to find a specific ROM.
Anyway,thanks a lot dear friend.
Best regards
Alexander.

What is the diff. bet. ROM biulds.?
Gday,
i have flashed my HD with this rom, but I think it is labelled wrong.
It seems this ROM is UK Orange Rom as several times, the default website goes to HTC UK and several times I have had data errors stating this data connection can only work on Orange.
Are there the standard HTC roms around (which I thought this was).
Any other users seen this?

iPhone Power User to Android Noob: Few Questions...

Sorry I'm a little noobish when it comes to Androids (trying to come over from an iPhone).
I understand rooting. But... Can you tell me advantages/disadvantages of all these ROMS? Do some have the latest radio firwmare and some don't? I thought I read I could also modify these ROMs as well. I would appreciate some insight. Thanks

You can do anything. If you read the forums you will learn a lot more than any 1 person here could ever teach you in one post. Happy reading.
P.s. posts like this are frowned upon around where when you could have searched.
ROMs are just modified versions of the standard firmware the developers that make them bundle certain apps with them and make some slight changes. IIRC they are all rooted.
I think the radio firmware can be updated seperatly as i downloaded the HTC radio directly from the HTC website.
There is a thread here that tries to chart the differences between builds (the name "rom" is kind of a misnomer).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517506
Also, for community ("hacked"/"rooted") builds, they generally don't include the radio. You would update the radio and bootloader separately. The official builds tend to include radio and or bootloader updates.

This should help you out with any information on Firmwares, its alot better then a stupid chart.
Just do yourself a favor.. Do not Flash before you read the entire thread. Because you may find your new G1 is a brick.
If you want something or want to upgrade SPL or Recovery or Rom Make sure you competely read the thread you may find that other users that have previously flashed that particular item will give feedback.

that link also links to the same "stupid" chart. btw that chart is great for deciding which build suits your needs the best
I was sorta kindling.....
My thread has all the information and MORE. The chart is helpful but you can't get any helpful links with it. My thread has information/my thoughts/ and updates on how to find the newest firmware.

New Faria updated om or likewise ?

Hi,
Isn't there a new Faria Rom being created soon, I have the 1.2 from May right now, in the beginning it seemed the best ever, now my device is going slower and I haven't changed anything or I didn't put any files on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=690819
The most updated rom is Energy, those guys are really awesome, they live for rom-creating
Question : which other roms are also recommended next to the Faria Rom at the moment?
Haven't been updating since May.
Thanks!
Cheers,
Innovator
Post in the thread of topic ask the chef he's the one going to know.
Not ROM Development hence thread closed.

Standardization for titles

Hello all dear xda members,
As a Touch hd user, i regularly come and see whats new, whats the latest rom release etc.
But the problem is our release section is kinda messy and I think, we need some Standardization on titles, maybe like this;
[ROM] [date] Rom name [WM info] [Language]
Click to collapse
Example release:
[ROM] [10-10-10] Cloudy 2.5 [WM6.5/6.5.x] [WWE]
Click to collapse
So, guys what do you think?
This is just a suggestion topic, i don't know if its in the right place. You can delete this post or move or promote.
I believe most rom threads already follow a standard format, i.e.
[ROM][WWE][DATE]Description
and tutorials all have [TUT] in front of them
If you check the announcements post at top of each forum, i.e. this, it gives you the proper layout all threads should follow
My biggest "complaint" (for want of a better word) is when ROM threads are updated with newer versions (not a problem - keeps the forum tidy), but you don't know where the comments for an older version stop and the comments for the newer version start. I spend ages going through pages and pages of posts in a thread to find where comments start for a newer ROM just to see what the common consensus is before I decide whether to flash it or not.

Agreed, can be a royal pain in the ar$e, but the only way around this would be to create separate threads which IMHO would be worse for the forums
If anyone has any thoughts/ideas on how to improve this let me know and I'll see if I can get them implemented

First read the sticky threads (you would have seen this should be posted in the Q&A thread) and then spend a week reading all other threads (it would have answered your question). In the end, whether you need to update something is all up to yourself and your preferences...if you're wondering whether to update: don't do it. Updating is only done when you have specific reasons to update (speed, other features, skinning, newer stuff).
Furthermore... search the forum - you will find a howto too
Good luck!
Regards,
Nika.
