Touch Diamond 2 Touchflo interface? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello all. I don't see a forum for the newly announced Touch Diamond 2 yet, so I'll ask my question in here!
Does anyone know what the enhancements to the Touchflo3D interface will be (if any)? I don't bother with it on my Diamond, as the Calendar is virtually useless and there's no tasks at all. If these are being addressed then I might be convinced to upgrade (although I'm not sure about removing the wheel interface either).
Does anyone have any info on this?

Which Touch <XXXX> on Tilt do you recommend?

I have an AT&T Tilt and current have SBP Mobilel Shell, and SPB Pocket Plus installed, MS Voice Command, along with other software.
I am particularly interested in the HTC Album (touch style photo browsing).
I've been reading a lot of posts, and my mind is swimming. It seems there are so many possibilities out there, among which are:
Touch Commander
FTouch Flo
Cooked Rorms
HTouch CAB
Touch Flo
SCPLPF
and on and on
but as I read the posts, they are mixed up with many issues based on various devices, versions, multiple version imbedded in threads and so forth.
So, I'm curious to hear from someone using a Tilt what you are using successfully. IN the end I may be happy enough with just the HTC Album, which I gather I need irrespective of the other touch software.
I'm not particularlly interested in putting on a new rom update. I'm afraid I will end up duplicating contacts in my work based Lotus Notes system if I reinstall all that and resynch.
Anyone care to suggest/discuss this topic for the Tilt?

I cannot get it to work on the Kaiser, has anyone tried this yet?
Won't install for me either. Says it's not intended for this device.
I'm running v3.0 Sleuth. Could be it doesn't like WinMo 6.1, but I have no way to verify that unless I reflash.
I have a t-mobile Wing and it doesn't work either. I think it is because all the phones listed as supported are smartphones (without touch screen).
Anyone know a work-around install for touch screen based units?
Just look at the name of the file it installs: SP50.cab = SP= Smartphone.
I've adjusted the CAB a little to allow it to install on a Kaiser. But when installed it's not 100%.
It installs, you can run the MSNDirect.exe through File Explorer, but as the controls are geared towards SmartPhone, it's not all that usable
Perhaps someone with additional skills can tweak it.
Is it possible for someone to tweak the program to be more touch friendly?
I'm pretty bummed about this. I've had a SPOT watch for years and would really like to have it on my Kaiser.
I have a Dash sitting on a shelf at home, that my wife didn't want, but I really can't switch to a Dash for MSN Direct.
its work for me
samsung b7320
but no wethr for iran .......
sucks!!!
but rep+++
yhx
Wow I didn't even know this service was still around...I used to have one of the watches, they were pretty cool.
This does not pertain to Kaiser Rom Development. Please post questions like this in the Kaiser General section in the future.
Thank You

The HTC CIO may be curled up in a corner crying now...
crying?
i think he has tears in his eyes from laughing.
why do a lot of people always insist that older is better.
touchflo 3d has way more options and is much fingerfriendlier than the old version.
so just a tip: do not use your stylus, but use your fingers. you will find that using the touch flo 3d really is a lot easier
looks beautiful runs terrible
i gave up! touchflow 3D, simply too slow and couldnt catch up with my finger.
will leave it for showing off when demo to friends only...
Yeah, it's not easier at all. It's much more work to get to the media player now, where as I could assign it to a hardware key on the Kaiser. Navigating the Kaiser with keyboard mnemonics was definitely faster and easier. TouchFLO 3D requires so much more finger/hand/eye movement in order to access the same information that would have been already on your screen right away.
I also hate having to scroll through all of the Cities in the US in order to get to Yonkers, NY for the weather. It was way easier when I could just type the name of the City in the HTC Home plug in. These iPhone-style lists are horribly frustrating to use.
I, think the regular touchflo is simpler to use because it is exactly that (simple) & boring... a few tabs and thats it. However TouchFlo3D has much more options, looks sweet, touch friendly & interactive; the fact that it takes more time to getting use to or figuring out does not bother me at all.
With this new plugin I rarely see the windows UI and I think that makes a huge difference, at least for me it does.
Another point to consider is how you use the device or what for? I use it primarily for the web, weather, texting & GPS & all of these are extremely easy for me to get to. As far as the extra scrolling to choose a specific city under weather should not be in issue, I set my city & a couple others in no-time when I got my phone and that's it no more scrolling.
I remember some time ago nokia, samsung, SE, mortorola etc all the big names done some stuidies and figured out the max number of key presses it should take to get to ANY menu option. It seems with all this fancy scrolling lists and interfaces thats lost now.
Even in an iphone - which you may hate, but is probably the best touch interface - its not exactly fast to get to things.

I've said this before - in experiments comparing the iPhone and the old TouchFLO, it was faster on average to get to things using TouchFLO.

Well, the devices are aimed at completely different markets. HTC generally aim their devices with keyboards at business users, whereas the Touch Diamond is a high-end general consumer product.

There are now tweaks that will speed up TouchFLO 3D quite a lot. Search this forum.
so......
will the old type of htc home plug in work with diamond?
i too was happy using it (on my trinity)
would be nice to have the choice
with the tabs you had people..weather apps...and more
so does anyone know before i bugger my diamond up
I think TouchFlow 3D is great, easy to use and looks very nice.
The only thing I'm missing are my tasks on the Todayscreen. On my Touch I used them as a reminder for certain things, but when you don't see them right away when turning on the phone they're useless.
I installed a Version of HTC Home Plugin earlier today on my dad's diamond and well... i guess it just isn't fit for a VGA Display. It is very small and the porportions are messed up. Anyone already tried to get HTC Home to work or knows of any VGA Version maybe?
I used to use Touch Commander on my Asus P750, as far as I'm concerned it's an exact copy which will work in VGA mode, as the P750 also had a VGA screen.

But then again, with Dutty's ROM and the registry tweaks, TF3D runs pretty smooth.

Alright, I have had this issue too. Here is a cab for the Home Plugin for VGA devices (works on my TP).
I AM NOT TAKING CREDIT FOR THIS, JUST SHARING THE .CAB I FOUND SOMEWHERE ON THIS FORUM LOOKING FOR THIS. MADE BY PJC
Hope this helps out those who need it.
EDIT: For some reason could not upload file, nonetheless, I found the download, click on the link and download. http://rapidshare.com/files/128745613/PJC_HTCHome.cab

HTC diamond functions

Guys,
The HTC touch diamond functions lookpretty cool. The contacts application, the weather application, the music browse app, etc etc (In short, the touch diamond User Interface), all look pretty amazing.
Can this be made available for the TyTN II as well?
I think that's the general focus of many of the busy threads in this area; read around, there's "diamond roms" for the kaiser which seem to offer many of the UI features, and there's a long ongoing project to port the 3D interface to the kaiser too.
I asked this in the software area already. I would suggest looking for a thread that was started like about 2 days ago and see if anybody responded. If not, I suggest dont start another post. Many people here love to bite peoples head's off for not using the search feature.

Manila?

SO...here i am...another newbie with another question which probably has been answered a thousand times... what can you do...
Anyway...just had to hard reset my HTC Touch Diamond and thought that maybe i should freshen it up a bit...ive read that there is a "new" update for touch flo...is it called manila or am i misinformed?
And how the hell am i supposed to install it on my precious mobile?
Is there a thread with a tutorial? Would greatly appreciate it if anyone could answer these questions...feel free to call me newb or slow!
TF3D...
Manila is HTC's 'project' name for TF3D (TouchFlo 3D). You can't officially get a newer version of TF3D without updating your ROM. Having said that, there are some manila mods knocking around this forum, but they're taken from Touch HD, or Touch Diamond 2 (work in progress).
The best thing to do is just make sure you're using a recent ROM, either official or cooked - that way you'll get the latest manila. It won't be any different than the one your device came with, though it may respond better (ie. faster)
Read the 'Themes, applications and software' & 'Diamond ROM development' forums, they will give you the most information
wiki - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ for all such info
thx a lot guys! i just downloaded the ROM update from the support page...
it actually feels a little smoother now! and finally a good solution to the answer and hang up buttons when the phone rings... hated to hang up when the phone isnt out of the pocket yet
