Tab bar is gone! - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I just applied the hack to change backgrounds in tabs other than the home screen and my tab bar disappeared. I can still scroll through the tabs using gestures, but it's rather annoying. I tried switching to the original manila files, but it didn't bring it back. I don't wanna do a hard reset, I have my phone set up just right now... (well, apart from the tab bar being missing)...
Help?

When you've applied the hack did you turn of TF3D before applying the hack?

I did. I didn't do a soft reboot, though. Was that required? I read some people did that too.

After a few hours of experimenting, I went into TF3D config, appearance tab and hit Restore Default. This fixed it. I'll just wait for the proper way of changing the tab background.
Admin lock, please?

Getting rid of soft buttons bar but tray

Hi there,
I´m trying to hide the soft buttons bar. I already tried pmc today shrink and softbar remover, both found searching the forums.
Problem is, I still want to display the tray (in the place of the soft button bar - the goal is to increase today space without loosing the tray).
With pmc today shrink, the soft buttons bar is gone, but also the tray.
With softbar remover, the softbar is gone, but the tray remains in the same place (so today screen space is not bigger).
Does any1 have any idea about doing this ?
Thanks in advance.

well with pmc the buttons are still usable. you just have to hit the actual soft key buttons not the touch screen.
my 2centz.
Well... yes, I know
Thats exactly what I want: I want to get rid of the softbar, but be able to still use it by pressing the soft buttons (hence, why I think there is no need to have it on screen).
What I want is to hide the softbar, and still be able to see the system tray at the bottom of the screen...
The problem is that with both solutions I have found, I can´t do that: with the first, the softbar is gone but the tray remains at the same place, so I can´t make use of the extra pixels. And with the second, both the softbar and the tray are gone.
Thanks for trying to help
On WM6.0 I had very rarely problems with VJ Toggle Today II, it basically just hides the soft menu and everything else moves down, it looks great and the soft keys still work, PHM Task Launch works perfect, programs show up in the tray at the very bottom of the screen, the Today screen items can take up the extra space that has been made above it, etc..
The executable is: vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe and you just put it in Startup. I have to tweak the registry to get it just perfect, the following post documents it, has a link to it, etc..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=243211
It says WM5 only but it works fine for me on WM6.0 and WM6.1 Caveat with WM6.1; after reboot I have to slide the phone once for the task tray to show up at all. It's just empty down at the bottom otherwise. It happened every so often with WM6.0, but 100% of the time with WM6.1. But it's a fairly minor annoyance. I might see if there's some way to automate this with MortScript or something and put it at the end of the startup list.
Amazing!!
Reinstalled pmc todayshrink and as you mentioned, opening the keyboard made the tray reappear.
Thanks!! Now my today screen is looking the way I want.
You may also want to try dcinobar. It is a very small program that lowers the softkey bar but still allows the system tray to be seen.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=269587&page=2
D/L link in post #12.
EDIT: But you will have to slide the phone open and close it to make the tray go to the bottom as well...

Upgraded to 6.1, now the scroll bar covers the edge of HTC Home

I just upgraded to 6.1 today. I set everything up like I had it previously, but there is an issue with the scroll bar on the side of the screen. On 6.0, I had HTC Home installed. The scroll bar did not cover up the edge of this application. The bar started below HTC Home and only affected the items below (like Tasks, Wireless Status, ect...). I've spent about 2 hours trying to figure this out. I'm not getting anywhere. Any ideas? Thanks guys!
I noticed the same thing everytime I close device I open contacts first then close device then close contacts that way it doesnt chop off the HTC Home where the scroll bar was. I have tried several different things in HHC Customizer too, with no change. Once it chops it off the only way to get it back I have to soft reset. Strange Annoying problem.

Thanks! That helped a lot. I dont know why I didn't see that when I was searching.
I had the same problem. I went to the today icon and removed a thing or 2 from the home page and the scroll bar went away. The home page will show only so much without causing you to scroll down.
for me it was the kaiser tweak where it says unlock screen i put it to locked and it worked

[THE] Purple Nightmare [Updated 3/3/09]

My first theme/dialer aka "Purple Nightmare"
spent quite a while on this, and this was my first attempt at editing manila, playing with xml and trying out mode9 (mode9 = killer!)
i would like to say thanks to Herg, Nisse, dHarvey, Xbmod, Showaco, Elvelynn, Mobilematt and a few others for helping me with this.
I attempted this as i noticed a lack of Purple orientated themes on the site... plus i think purple looks good with black!
Anywho, the home page is actually intended for the clock to be dragged back, think it looks more proffesional that way, plus ive "cleaned up" the home tab. you will still get notifications of missed calls and voicemails though.
Also, it contains a different background from the rest of the tabs, the hompage wallpaper will be added aswell. It also contains a different dialer...
To install:
Turn off TF3D
Put the Htc Purple.tsk folder in windows
Install .Cab file
*Soft reset*
Go to Start/Settings/Today and select the Htc Purple theme, and reactivate TF3D, choose the wallpaper through TF3D
as always, this release is not perfect. so if anybody finds any bugs, please let me know.
and there you go, hope you like it...

Looks nice!
Things to do:
Lanscape dialer:
try and find a solution to get rid of the white box around the "end call" button
View attachment 163111
submit this to CRC for deviceUpdate deployment
Request it to be called something like:
TF3d Theme\Purple Nightmare
TF3d TSK\Purple Nightmare
Nice work.
Looks good!
thanks to 12aon, i made a matching landscape for the theme. But due to certain conflicts of manila files, where previously edited files are being replaced by files containing different data, it is causing a few "visual" problems in regards to the theme. This is a pretty easy fix, but i just cant find the time seeing as i have so much work at uni this month. Also, the port from TP2 is nearly ready, so im not gonna stress myself out to fix this .
the cab below was intended as an "add-on" but has now become a file in which i hope others will edit to their benefit. if anybody does edit the files to coincide with one and other, please post them back here.
INSTALLING THIS "WILL" CAUSE PROBLEMS, SO DONT MOAN AT ME AFTER... IM WARNING YOU!!
Finally, im preparing a similar theme for the new port, so bring on "Purple Nightmare 2" for the New TF3D!!!

Love purple! Thanks!
Hmm.. well, that didn't work... Hard reset time.
Installed as directed. After the (automatic) soft reset after the cab install, and re-enabling TF3D, all screens selected with the slider were blank (just the background image with title, no content/buttons), and after the 2nd or 3rd screen, the slider would freeze, and eventually error out with an exception in shell32.dll. Softkeys at the bottom were "OK" and "Help", rather than what they were previously set to.
Tried changing back to a stock theme, but that had no effect on the TF3D issues. After stopping and re-starting TF3D, the same behavior would occur.
Tried an uninstall, didn't really seeem to do much. Same colors, same behavior. As a last resort before hard reset, tried a "Reset to default" from the theme selector in Diamond TF3D Config. This reset all the graphics to stock AT&T (rather than the HTC version I had to begin with), but with the same freeze of the slider after the 2nd or 3rd selection from the slider bar.
Running on AT&T stock ROM, with tyguy's 'no bloatware' TF3D install from this thread. I had made a bunch of tweaks with Advanced Config Tool, Diamond TF3D Config, and Diamond Tweak. The main one that I'm wondering about that might have had something to do with it was changing the order of the icons in the slider.
Getting the fresh TF3D install going now, this time I'm going to try installing the theme before all the other config tools, and see how that goes.
Absolutely beautiful theme btw, I really hope I can get it up and running.
Got it reinstalled on a fresh copy of TF3D.
Home screen is still pretty much non-functional. When it starts up, it's blank with OK and Help softkeys at the bottom (Screenshot #1). After selecting any other page, then going back to home, the softkeys from the previously selected page remain at the bottom of the home screen (Screenshot #2, after coming back to home from the settings screen).
Pressing either of the softkeys on the home screen, regardless of what they happen to be labeled at the time, will cause TF3D to freeze after the next use of the slider. TF3D can be restarted without a soft reset, and it will work again, until one of those softkeys gets pressed.
I've also noticed that the background is a little bit different than in the screenshots you provided with the original post, and setting the jpg file as wallpaper from the settings screen doesn't seem to have any effect at all.
All screens except for home seem to be fully functional.
Update:
Hard reset and just let it install the AT&T Manila and bloatware, then installed the theme. Works fine. Must be something it doesn't like about the HTC Manila.
Before another hard reset to go back to the non-bloatware install, I did try a quick install of Glass Clock, which did not change the clock at all from the standard AT&T clock. *shrug*

Ah, no worries there. The beauty of having a fresh new phone with nothing on it: It's the ideal time to play, mess with stuff, and hard-reset to my heart's content!
Anyway, after some more monkeying around with this theme and Brian's blue/red & chrome themes, all of them seem to work fine with the AT&T Manila, but wierd things happen when I use them with the Manila from tyguy's package. I don't know if it's something to do with a difference in the flipclock-style Manila vs. the AT&T clock, or what. I'm brand new to the Raphael and TF3D (just picked it up after my Kaiser met an untimely demise by getting left on the trunk of the car.. d'oh!), so I'll have to do some more searching around. Prolly end up flashing to a cooked rom anyway, so the whole point will be moot. 8)
I'm down to one last thing that's not quite working with this theme: On the Settings tab, it doesn't come up with the white background like in your screenshot, it's just nearly black text on the mostly black background, very hard to see. Any ideas on that one?

good.... the thing with the landscape, it has files which clash with the theme.... if your new to this you might wanna stay clear of it. if your up for the challange then look into the diting of manila files, its not that hard. good luck.
The landscape 'cab' installs just fine, but while trying all sorts of other stuff I can't get the normal theme applied back on.
I can't get it uninstalled, can't get it re-installed.
Any tips on how to uninstall an unwilling app/theme short of resetting my whole phone.
Can I just go into the registry and delete the key, or are there files I have to delete also for that to work?
(fideled around with the manila customizer, and that gives nice results as wel, but nothing in landscape.)

[Q] Need help from true Android expert !!

Hi,
I have a really strange problem. Yesterday I was playing with a game on my Galaxy S.
Suddenly the game started to lag and refuse input. The home key and the power button did not work.
So I took out the battery and restarted. I've done this before many times without problems.
But this time, after the reboot, I am missing 3 icons of the GUI: Phone, Contacts and Message.
I have only "Application" left, in the lower part of the screen.
I do not want to do an hard reset right now, I'm in vacation, I have many useful apps and don't
want to lose them right now.
I wish to kindly ask if some expert can tell me how to get my icons back !
Thank you !
Sergio
PS: my rom is a stock Samsung 2.3.4 and I have root access.
EDIT 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've found this advice:
From the home screen, press Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All
Search for TwLauncher and clear the data stored in there.
but.... I cannot find TWlauncher in my Applications. Even changing language from Italian to english. Maybe it was on Froyo, and now on Gingerbread it has another name ??
EDIT 2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
After changing language, the name of some system application also change. But this seems a slow process. After 5 minutes from language change, I have finally found TWlauncher in my application list and following the advice i got my icons back.

When you open your Apps Drawer, are the Phone, Contacts and Messaging Apps still there?
If so, just press and hold the icon, then drop them back on your homescreen.

If you mean the quick launch bar at the bottom of the homescreen, do this:
Application -> *left menu button* -> edit -> drag&drop the apps you'd link to have there -> done!
Funny, I Was quite sure that the 3 icons were both in quick launch bar AND app drawer. So when I've found that solution I've seen that putting icons in quick launch removes them from app drawer. So I've tried the other solution but I found the same result.
Can you confirm that this icons normally stay in quick launch OR app drawer, and not in both ?
Thanks
Yep. When you drag an App to the quick launch bar, it isn't shown in app drawer anymore.

[Q] Unable to access menu in Google Play

Out of nowhere my three dots in Google Play have disappeared and I'm unable to pull up the menu/settings. All I have in the top corner is the search funtion. How do I retrieve this? I use LMT instead of the stock bars for navigation. I even tried freezing 'Soft Key Bar' in apps. Rebooted, and no change. Any help would be kindly appreciated.

It depends on how you set up LMT. Did you assign a menu option to your pie? The three dots on the pie was mine and I used that to access menu options inside of apps
Thanks for the quick response. I've setup my pie with the home, back, menu (which I thought would access all menus within all apps) and OpenNotificationBar. Is there another menu command within LMT that I'm missing?
Lower your dpi in the build.prop
Open build.prop file and edit this line only.
ro.sf.lcd_density=240 <--------Set this value to 180. Back out of build.prop, save when asked. Reboot. Check.

I'm a little hesitant about editing the build.prop. Is there another way? What about re-installing the Play Store?
If you are hesitant about it that's ok. I don't know any other way. But the edit is harmless, I promise. You just have to be careful that you don't accidentally edit anything else.
You will notice that the lock screen is different.... but that's OK. You can download 2 apps to have a custom lock screen like widget locker or magic locker. I'll post links if you so desire.
If you want to skip my advice all together... well that's your prerogative. But you may be waiting a while for another fix.
Here's 2 pictures showing the difference. The top is with dpi of 240. The bottom is dpi 180. With mainkeys =1
****UPDATE****
This is with
A) softbar.apk removed from /system/app,
B) qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
C) dpi set at 180.
Perfect.
I should mention that I have go keyboard installed and xSettings installed with stock locker option disabled. With widget locker installed. And LMT soft keys installed.

Oddly enough, I have an app called Fullscreen Toggle that I installed to take away the soft key bar, which has been working just fine. In this app, I decided to try re-enabling the stock soft keys to see if it would bring back the menu button in Google Play (not sure why I thought it would, just effing around with it). Well, when I re-enabled the soft key bar in Fullscreen Toggle it didn't bring the soft keys back up, but I DID get my menu button in Google Play back along with other menu buttons in other apps! Weirdness..

Yes, several times. I'd forgotten that I also froze the system app 'Soft Key Bar'. I'm assuming that's why it didn't come back up. Not sure why enabling that in Fullscreen Toggle brought back the app menus though. Either way, it's doing what I want it to do now.
Thank god for this forum or I wouldn't be attempting any of this crap, lol.

Had this problem but found a setting
I had this problem in a rom I was using and tried all kinds of dpi settings without any luck getting the menu drop-down for the playstore settings. Then while I was in the interface settings of the rom control, there was a setting called "Statusbar Behavior" and that was turned off, and when turned on, the three dots that allow menu settings was available. This is late for this case, but I wanted to share so if others down the road had a similar problem and came across this thread as I did trying to resolve this kind of issue it would give another option to check. Hope this helps.
