Can someone please help me using roms??? - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently got myself an X1, and I have to honestly say, its brill!
I am mainly using the spb shell panel, and like it for the reason that I can use my thick fingers to operate it. Is their any other user interfaces like this one?
Ok, I am a smart enough guy…(sometimes)…but I cannot for the life of me understand roms…and what you guys are going on about in these forums.
What I am looking for is a good selection of panels to choose from, however from what I can get from these forums is that I am better installing something completely different on the phone.. I assume this gets rid of my panels?
Do roms completely overwrite what is currenly on the phone? Ie. Panels, tomtom, etc.
Any tips would be much appreciated, as I am interested in a user interface that I can better customise to suit myself (cant customise spb mobile shell)…..
Thanks..

Roughly said a ROM is a collection of appz put in one file together with the WinMo OS.
What those appz are, and which version of winmo, totally depends on the creator of the custom cooked ROM. In the threads of the custom ROM is always a summary of what is included.
Most chefs delete the panels from their ROMs, except for the standard panels and the panelmanager. So you can install the panels you want to use.
When installing a new ROM (custom cooked or stock) it always deletes the phone memory, not your SD-card! So you need to install appz, change settings to your own need, and ofcourse put contacts, agenda, etc back from back-up.

Nice, thanks.
I think in that case that I will avoid them for now, as I do not have a good enough understanding of how it works. I will how ever make more of an effort to read into the process to understand how it will benefit how I use the phone.
Thanks for the heads up.

May I suggest you to read this thread:

Ok, took the plunge, and installed a custom rom....
I installed Touch_IT v4.5 and it is excellent..however
Anyone else experiencing lots of crashes? I am getting lots of crashes for stupid things like trying to open the X panel....
Whats annoyed me most is that I have taken off the back cover so much to remove the battery (to restart) I have cracked the part under the camera :-(
Just out of interest...to convert back to the stock o2 UK rom do I simply download "X1i_GENERIC_UK_CDF1215-1832_R2AA010 - uploaded" from:
NEW ORIGINAL X1 ROMS (all released variants) update 14.3.2009
Then Hard SPL, and install this original rom?
Thanks..

Yes, and yes.
Edit: You don't need to HARD SPL again before you flash it.

I believe that ROM is the generic SE one without any of the O2 branding.
If you need to return it for any reason you will need to reflash it with the O2 ROM (which I believe is available in the same thread as you found the one you pointed out).
You'll also need to change the hard spl back to the original.
Shame about the crack under the camera, did you know you can soft reset by holding down the power button for 3-5 seconds?

Thanks for the help.
How do I change the hard spl back to the original??
I do assume though there is no way to reset the phone when it has completely crashed, without removing the battery. Holding the power button down has no effect.
Its a shame as I love the touch-it 4.5 rom. I almost would live with it being unstable just for some of the features (i.e Camera with autoflash, and the touchflo 3D interface).

Did you hard reset after flash, because I've been using Touch-IT 4.5 since the day after it was released and aren't experiencing big stability issues (hard reset is press the two directly under your screen and press reset button with stylo).

When the batterycover is removed there is a tiny hole next to the battery, you can use your stylo to press the reset button inside the hole (soft reset).

hard reset after flash? no...how do I do that?
As I didnt do it, will I have to reflash it again and then hard reset?
I dont understand "press the 2 under the screen" sorry...

Hey guys I just too got an X1a and want to install this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485624 But still not really quite sure what to do. So I just download the ROM and ROMUpdateUtility.exe yes? (where can i find the rom update utility for the Xperia?) Then I just install it onto the phone? I know I hav to backup etc. Will this void the warranty though, will I be able to get it to factory settings if I want to change it back?
Thank you.

Hard reset:
1. turn off the phone
2. Hold both right and left buttons (the ones right under the screen, dont know the name)
3. press reset button with stylus, while still holding the others

Ok, so the reset button is the one underneath the battery cover?
and the right and left buttons are the silver rectangular ones that you can assign as anything?
Should I reflash the phone and hard reset it then, or might hard resetting it now work?

ps remind that hard reset will set the OS back like it has never been used before

Don't know Resco first handed, but looking at the screenshots (http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/indepth.asp) you should be able to enter the registry at the base of the folder tree.

Some help please - flashing x1 to Touch-IT

Hi,
I was really hoping to do this without having to ask for guidance!!
I have backed up my ROM via Kovskykitchen: all OK and nice clear tutorial! thx..
I have X1_HardSPL_V1 ready to run..
I have the Touch-IT Experience ROM..
I think I follow the process but have a question about HARDSPL : Once I have completed the process - will I be able to use the phone at that point - or will I have to flash a new ROM to use it? i.e. is HARDSPL just an unlock so to speak or does it wipe the phone?- been reading this very helpful thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446070 by Phenx - ta..
Flashing the new rom:
all the detailed tutorials seem to be the MicroSD method.. I can't find a decent X1 walkthrough using activesync...
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm obviously searching wrong..
Thanks!!
(One other question: will flashing affect my sim contacts? Thanks)
I'll try and answer ur questions to the best of my ability but i can't say i know much about what hardspl is besides the ultimate tool
After you hardspl u will be able to use ur phone as normal. I believe it still has the same stock rom on it but again i'm not sure but i do know u will be able to use it.
There is a way to use activesync and its fairly simple. Establish a connection through activesync and then run the rom update utility and follow the instructions. This is the only method i've ever used and i've been flashing my phone since the wizard.
Hope this helps
Thanks, thats given me a little more confidence
What flash util would you recommend? or do you mean the one with the HARDSPL download?
I would suggest backing up your contacts to your sim card, pull your memory card and then flash AFTER you hrdspl the phone. The hrdspl enabled you to be able to flash the phone to another rom, it will not interfere with the operation of the phone afterwards.

Most ROM's are packed together with the flash prog. I do recommend the microSD method, as it's less prone to murphy's law.
always use the sd way, it far by the safest.
your sim contact will be left on the sim the other contacts yo want to backup.
hardspl is a unlock only utility, wont affect your phone, rom.
ive done it throught the sd way ...and its really simple and no problems, i had a few problems with hardspl ...but got that sorted quick enough.
yeah so i'd recommend the sd way.
Well don't have a microSD so did it via activesync...
HARDSPL - was painless - click - click, go make coffee - done!
I mistook the ROM update in the Touch zip for another HARDSPL.. It was infact (obviously) the update util needed.. Flashed to Touch-it .21 - As easy as HARDSPL....
I have noticed 1 bug but its a tiny thing: the ok or x in the top right doesnt show when in any menu... Hard reset didnt fix it.. no problem though as the OK or x is there just not lit up..
Can anyone confirm that to change to another ROM, I would just replace the RUU file in the update util folder?
Thanks for everyones help!

yes to the second, just replace the RUU.
and I'd recommend trying wktask http://soft.photoracer.net/docs/wktask_en.html
instead of the taskmanager. (disable the task manager through settings) then you can make the X pretty and useful!
well thats the icing on the cake!! cheers - worked a treat.. thanks all

flashed my phone like 10 times now and NEVER used the SD version.
so from my point of view ... usw the USB version. saves loads of time.
plugin USB
sync if not allready done
start update and click a few times
done
download file on x1, save to sdcard,,,,, rename flash, much easier doesnt require windows pc can be done anywhere and less chance of failure
must have flashed different devices well over 100 times
probably a stupid question, but right now i have the Touch-IT 2.1 rom on my phone, if i want to Flash to another ROM, i don't need to flash to HardSPL again do i then flash to another rom?
EDIT: don't worry found the answer.

hardresetting after a flash

many people recomend that you do a hard reset after flashing a new ROM:
1-why?
2-does it really improve anything are there any people who think that this is a myth? ive even seen people claming that this solved their battery drange problem
3- whats the difference between a freshly flashed rom and a hard reset device?
4-when exactly is the best time: after the flash directly or after the first reboot when the phone finishes installing stuff from extended memory?
I'm wondering the same thing...
Me too
but i've heard that there can be some "rests" of the old rom after flashing a new.
And the hard reset clears the whole memory, so the system is "clean".
If I'm wrong tell me how it is right.
Personally, I don't believe this. I never did and never have a problem.
the argument is that a rom image (that you flash) doesn't always fill the entire memory space so there's a chance that some of the arrays could contain old data as the RUU doesn't clear the space first.
It doesn't hurt to hard reset whether this scenario happens or not, just hold the hardkeys down during first boot after it comes out of bootloader ..

the plot thickens
even the cooks thinks its not worthwhile
ill do it anyway (even if its a myth) since there is no need to wait for the rom to boot for the first time and no extra time is needed as fards says
From my experience, you really need to hard reset itje's touchit roms. I'm not sure why, but when I didn't hard reset, the device felt really really slow. This is very noticeable. After the hard reset, everything will be fast again.
I'm using jack's lite rom now, but I don't find that you need to hard reset on this rom.
i also never hard reset my device after a rom upgrade. never had problems.
ive tested my self acouple times tryin a rom for a day then hard reseting and see no difference in file structure, (backups) or registry (reg dump and compare)
so i do not hard reset my device after a hard reset

+1 for the not really worth it but do it anyway on the xperia (even in itje roms)
if this poll was on the wizard forum, im sure everybody will say its a MUST. so far only %30 here think its worth doing
yeah its a bit weird that only %30 think its worthwhile considering the number of people who do it when you read the itje ROM thread

many people use and think hard reset is equal to push the stylus into the soft reset hole...
I recommend hard-reset after flash...
It happens so many times that when ppl flashing my roms, and get bugs that I dont have, or many others dont have..
And what has been the sollution for many??? Hard-reset...suddenly they report back that it fixed their issue??
And how can ya'll "non-hard-spls-belivers" explain that?
But no matter what..
If you feel it helps, so do it
If you think it wont help...then dont
ah, and one thing more...
If you flash only the same build, basicly same roms, just with minor updates, then hard-reset after flash might not be needed cause the conflicting residue in nand might not conflict with the new flash...
perhaps just speculations and sci-fi....
But I will recommend hard-spl for any new flash, untill someone can hardcore prove the opposite...
but as said before...ya'll do what you want

I always recomend hard-spl for flashing new firmware, but thats off topic
I'll do everytime after flashed a new rom. 宁可信其有,不可信其无,believe it just cost you press some keys together, lol

After flashing, during the first boot, there already IS something that looks like a hard reset. Something like "auto-hard-reset". Therefore allow me to ask you 3 questions please:
1. Is this "auto-hard-reset" similar to the manual hard reset(when we push simultaneously left, right and soft reset key, or via Start>Settings>System>Clear Storage)?
2. What exactly did you mean in your quote(its part that I've marked bold)? I've never heard anything about holding any keys DURING the first boot. Everywhere is written: "Make hard reset AFTER you flash." Or maybe I missed something?
3. What if NOT to wait for this "auto-hard-reset", and just manually, BEFORE it happens, make an HR(pushing simultaneously left, right and soft reset key) in time when firmware splash screen is showed? It would save the time... but is it harmless?
Thank you very much for your answers!

Broken Hardware Volume Buttons! Can't Flash

Hi All,
Maybe someone can help me? My blackstone is quite old now but probably still in warranty. I have a Dutty Rom on it and would like to reflash back to a stock rom so I can take it for servicing under warranty but the down volume button doesn't work. I can't enter the flash mode.
Anyone know a way I can do this without the voulme button or maybe trigger the volume button another way. I tried using foil on it but that doesn't work.
thanks

If you leave your phone in the normal position ie normal boot up with manila loaded and then run the RUUWrapper, there is a little sub-routine included which automatically changes to bootloader mode (I never put the phone into bootloader before a flash). Luckily your volume up still appears to work so at least you can do the hard resets.

The blackstone has very very poor volume buttons, amazingly bad!!! Now the plastic volume buttons are totally broken. (after 10 months) But I can use the buttons correctly.
Poor material, poor HTC quality. Never HTC again.
make sure you get it to the stock SPL too because hardspl voids your warranty if they find it.
like clyde said, if you connect your blackstone to your computer via activesync, you can run the ROM update from your computer, without you having to manually put the phone into bootloader mode. not sure how youre gonna do a hard reset though (not sure if its necessary) as you need both volume keys to do that
good luck

True, I forgot you need both to do the hard reset, you can see I do this as second nature now without thinking.
Oh well, you'll have to live without the hard reset after the flash. There are many who say it's not necessary, although I religiously still do my hard reset after each flash.
There's an option to wipe the device in the System settings. I think this is equivalent to a Hard Reset.
It is. _

Newbie Tech Problem!!!

I've just recently gotten into different ROM's for my Sprint Touch Diamond. I am currently running Mighty ROM6. Now it flashes fine but after about a day of use I notice the phone starts acting up. Programs disappear, Opera browser stops working and I have to reflash. Is this a common flaw with the Mighty ROM6 or is it something I am doing wrong? I just don't understand how it works fine and after a day or two of use I have to reflash it. Any and all input would be great...

I'm not sure about Mighty ROM6, but issues can occur when you don't clear the device from the previously cooked rom.
2 Choices to clear device:
• flash a stock rom first before flashing
• use mtty (link found in my signature)
Regardless of choice, after flashing the selected cooked rom of choice, don't forget to hard reset your device.
Doing this takes out the variable of it being your devices fault and thus puts back the onus to the rom.
Good Luck!

Looking for you re: stock roms
as far as mtty is concern, it's a tool that clears your device. Not too newbie friendly though.
HARD RESET DEVICE:
Right after you soft reset reset (red button) simply press Vol_Down + Circle button, then when you see another simple gray menu choose Vol_Up to confirm format)

Look at the 2nd post, of edited my response there.
By the way, another trick is to flash a radio or a rom via Internal Memory Method found below:
COOKING ROMs & Radios from phone =-
1. open from your PC the rar or zip archive and extract only the BIG .nbh file
2. rename as DIAMIMG.NBH
3. copy the renamed file into the root dir of your "Storage Card" or "Internal Storage" (the one of 4Gb... NOT to the internal phone memory!)
4. soft reset your device and within 3 seconds push together the Vol_Down + Back button (the one on the right above the hangup button) and keep pressed until the boot loader appears (the one with the color stripes)
5. soon as you see the bootloader stop to press those poor buttons
6. a very simple gray menu will appear asking you what to do, simple press the power button to perform the ROM/Radio upgrade
7. while the upgrade runs be patient and don't press again the power button, reset the device or play with it until it finishes, when finished a message "UPDATE SUCCESS" will appear, now you can safely reset your device
8. who prefer can perform a hard reset after the fresh cook (soon after reset simply press Vol_Down + Circle button, then when you see another simple gray menu choose Vol_Up to confirm format), even if this has no-sense because internal memory is pre-formatted during flash, but... there is always a but... for some unknown "scientific" reason sometimes an hard-reset can save time & headache
p.s. still looking for the pesty stock rom thread....

Doesn't matter, it's just for the purpose of clearing the device however, just get one with WWE (english vers.)

Alright...thanks for all the help....

Help.. I f..... up.. again :)

I am trying to get the cool 4 shortcut buttons and was directed to something called Cookies Home Tab. I installed it but no program showed up.
I would then try and uninstall it an install it again with sense deactivated, but when choosing uninstall on the program (which shows up on the "remove program" menu, but not in the start menu) the "busy-cursor" is just rotating and nothing happens. I tried powering off and try again, and the same thing happens: It says its uninstalling, but it takes forever and nothing happends.
Can someone help? How do I get the program properly installed. I am running a danish original rom and assumed it would be compatible when directed there. I am not sure where to find my sense version. Can it be that its 2.16xxxxx or is that windows?

If you cannot find your manila version, or at least search on how to find it, you really need to learn more before you mess up your phone.
I assume you did a hard reset after your registry issue. If not I suggest you do as you will probably have to do it a few times as you attempt to customize your device.
Your manila version can be found in Settings\Device Info\Software Info.
Read the thread on Cookies Home tab for compatable versions and install instructions. Post your questions there.
p.s. Thanks for implying...
I am really sorry for sounding like a total noob, but I DID read the post, installation instructions and whats not. I also read the "how to find your manila version" which also said to go to settings tab - device info - software info. The thing is that its danish on my phone and I cant find anything called device info on my tab, only "about" which leads me to a webpage with a lot of copyright and legal mumble jumble.
When going to settings - advanced - about the device I get a tab called version, where it says Rom Version 2.16.403.1 (67041) dan. But I dont know if thats it.
But lord, how many original stock roms can there be? Its a pretty new phone and I installed every HTC update available to me. I must say that configuring this little diamond seems to take a rocket scientist or above. I can use a computer pretty well, but getting a little modifications to the HTC UI seems to take a phd
You seem like a nice guy, and I would like to learn. Maybe you can help me out so I dont have to ask so many noobish questions. I really tried to learn by myself but it is a new world to me and it is quite overwhelming.
1) I read that installing a rom is ireversible. Does that really mean that I under no circumstances can replace the original software? Is a cooked rom really a whole other OS and replace windows mobile 6.5 completely? Or is it just a modified windows?
2) What is the distinction between HTC Sense, Touch Flo and Manila, if any? As far as I read the black and white icons is manila and the colored ones is sense... Is that true? And does that mean that I cant use any programs that needs manila to run if I have the HTC Ui with the colored icons?
I hope the above questions helps me to a basic understanding, so I further on dont have to ask so many questions.
PS) after installing TD2 tools my screen rotation line in my system registry came back, and I got rid of the landscape.. Thats one problem solved. Call recording aswell. If I find a way to get these 4 shortcut-buttons available and set one of them to my to-do list I think Im done.. No more tampering.. I promise.

1) What exactly is the difference between installing Cookies Home tab and installing another rom? As I understand it, a rom is a whole other OS, where this software only is a skin? Correct?
Correct, The ROM is the whole OS, where CHT is a modification to the Sense (Manila) UI.
2) I read that installing a rom is ireversible. Does that really mean that I under no circumstances can replace the original software?
No, You must first install hard SPL to be able to flash a cooked(custom) ROM.
Once you install HSPL, your device is considered "out of warranty".
However you can reflash a Stock ROM and then reflash Stock SPL to return the phone to the factory state for warranty purposes. So it can be reverted.
3) What is the distinction between HTC Sense and Manila, if any?
They are one and the same, also referred to as Touch Flo 3D (TF3D)
4) The original question about getting Cookie to work, if someone feels like helping.
If you have installed Cookie's Home Tab and soft reset, when you are on your home screen you should see the flip clock (assuming that in Settings\System\Home\Items is set to HTC Sense), on top right of that is a little dash, this opens up additional panels for your shortcuts.
There should also be a new program possibly in settings or \Programs\Tools called CHTEditor to access your tab settings.
I suspect that it installed, you just didn't know how to access it.
Lemme know.

See above for answers. One quick word of advice; If the program interfaces with your today screen, phone functions, etc. install to device memory and never to Storage Card. Programs that just tweak the registry and settings can be installed to SD card.
Uhm, and I wouldn't be promising anything because its addicting. Once you pop, you can't stop!
Sorry.. I edited my post while you were answering. I found the preguide to roms which was just about basic enough to enlighten me. Your answers helped a lot to, and everything fell into place.
I do think that I will stay away from flashing as it seems like risky business.. The option to hard-reset without to much hassle seems like the emergency brake I like available to me
At the moment I am trying to reinstall Cookies Home Tab, but the installation just hangs.. Probably because it wasnt uninstalled correctly. Any tips other than Hard Resetting which means several hours of setup
Edit: Ahh f... it.. I may aswell do it.. All the tampering made my phone slow anyway.. Now I know what I need and can get it to work without too much experimenting..
Thanks dude.
I did some research on your stock ROM and it looks like you are running Manila 2.1 which is the older version so many tweaks you are attempting may be for 2.5.
You would be better off changing ROMs.
Here is a download of our stock ROM for warranty purposes, keep it just in case. You may have to register for the site, but you may also find a nice cooked ROM in your language on that site. Dutty is a great chef and I use his ROMs because of their stability.
I can attempt to walk you through HSPL, but there have been many issues lately. Almost seems like the only way to get it to work is to "donate" to the developer.
Okay Mr Dope Pusher.. i see where you are going.. Telling me to stay away from these sheningans and 1 hour later you got me hooked anyway
Jokes aside.. Yes.. I Do think I am gonna need some help here.. While the stock backup rom is downloading I will try and find out for myself, but I would very much like some confirmation on what to do before I take the leap.. Stay tuned and thank you very much.. Your help is very appriciated.
I have a question though.. Now I downloaded the stock rom, but what if my phone breaks when Duttys Rom is installed.. Then I wont be able to reinstall the original rom before sending it in for repair. And then Im screwed warranty wise, right?
..., in anticipation of your next question;
As long as you have over 50% battery and do not interupt the flash (unplug the USB) there are very few chances of it bricking.
I have never had it happen and most errors are correctable with a hard reset. It really sounds worse than it is.
Most devices get bricked because the user attempts to flash a cooked ROM w/o HSPL or a ROM or radio from another device.
I have attached 3 files.
Do the following after you download these files;
1. Remove your SIM and SD card.
2. Sync your device to your PC through Active Sync or WMDC depending on your windows version.
2. Copy the enablenewrapi.cab to your device through file explorer and install
to device memory.
3. Open both the SPL 1.83 and the RUU zip files and place contents of both into a new folder.
4. Run the RUU.exe and you should see a progress screen appear.
5. With any luck, you won't get stuck at 0% and the flash will complete.
As the screen states, it may take up to 10 minutes. You will see your device disconnect from active sync, which is normal. Let it run until it completes and do not open anything or let your PC go into standby. Also, you may want to disable your AV and any firewalls as these can mess with the installation.
Make sure you have greater than 50% battery before you attempt this as any interuption during the flashing process can brick your device.
If the steps above complete, you can go into bootloader mode by holding down both volume keys right after you hit the soft reset buton, but before the device begins to boot. You may have to try a couple of times if you are not fast enough. Or you can power off the device then hold both volume keys and press the power button. In bootloader mode which is a tri colored screen, you should see SPL: 1.83.Olinex, then you will know it has installed correctly.
From this point, you are able to flash any cooked Topaz ROM.
The ROM flashing process is the same as HSPL in regards to placing the ROM's .nbh file into the same folder as the custom RUU.exe, so keep that RUU.exe file for future use.
You need only flash HSPL once to continue to flash as many ROMS as you like.
If you ever have to revert to stock, you would install the ROM you downloaded, then find the StockSPL file from the HSPL thread and follow the instructions.
Always hard reset after you flash a new ROM.
**If you are not successful in flashing HSPL, you will need to go to the HSPL thread and read up on opening a ticket with HTC Support, which will give you an autoinstaller that will work once you donate through the program. I believe they are asking for 4gbp.
Ok.. And one of the above files is the Dutty Rom? Edit: Oh I se.. It isnt.. I will download it then..
Will it look and feel similar to Sense, just with more features and customisation options?
You write: Most devices get bricked because the user attempts to flash a cooked ROM w/o HSPL or a ROM or radio from another device.
Can you please elaborate? I understand it like you need to make sure I install the hspl first before cooking, but "radio" from another device. Please explain it for a dummy as me, so I dont attempt to do it by accident.

No, I have not provided you with a ROM, just the HSPL unlocker.
You can go to HTCPedia and search for a Danish ROM with manila 2.5, or take a look through the ROM development thread and find one from another chef. It should have Sense installed but 2.5 unless it states otherwise. 2.5 has more features and functions and is the most current.
Many ROMs are multilanguage so I believe you select your region language when the ROM first loads. Just look for one that supports DAN. I use WWE (World Wide English) so I am not experienced with multilanguage variations.
Just make sure your HSPL is successful before you attempt to flash a ROM.
If you search hard enough you may even find a ROM with CHT cooked in which will alleviate you from having to install it yourself, but I suspect that your previous install didn't work because your on Sense 2.1
I have never used CHT, but use Max Manila Themes which is just a different mod, but I am thinking about trying CHT.
I'll take a look and see what I can find.
Regarding Radios;
A stock ROM comes with the OS and Radio ROM.
Most cooked ROMs take just the OS and tweak it for best performance, adding programs, removing other useless programs and do not include the radio ROM, therefore you will still have your stock Radio unless you flash a cooked ROM that has included the radio (usually denoted in the title of the ROM by the radio#, i.e. 4.49.25.57 (which is a Topaz radio version)
The only time you can brick is you attempt to install a radio from another device (sometimes they work better) such as a Blackstone radio to a Topaz device unless your SIM is unlocked or attempting to flash a Topaz radio w/o HSPL.
Personally, there are enough Topaz radios posted in the radio thread that I don't need my SIM unlocked to try others.
Symptoms of a problem radio are poor signal strength, rapid battery loss and your device heating up.
I have switched my radio ROM a few times but honestly haven't noticed a difference from my stock radio.
The stock ROM you downloaded would replace your Stock Radio if you happen to flash to a different one.
Your region and carrier are also a factor in choosing a radio, so again, just stick to stock unless you have issues.
Dude.. That radio thingie made me EXTREMELY paranoid and I see that there is dozens of different roms from dutty and thousands of rom in general where many of them seems to come with radio-thingies... I am extremely afraid of choosing something that will brick my system, so please, please help me through this, even though you already have been extremely helpful.
If I were on my own, I would go with this:

But to be honest I dont know if it will work on my device or if I will be able to get it with a danish language pack..
Please help me choose the right one.... I am ready to rock, so I hope for a quick reply, and I promise I will do a extra good deed tomorrow to repay the world for all the help you gave me tonight.

Don't sweat it Bro, if its posted as a Topaz ROM then its got the Topaz Radio, the only thing you risk is not being able to connect to certain 3G bands.
I've used Dutty's R-8 and its not a bad ROM, but its a little outdated and I didn't see that it had multi language support.
I am really having a hard time locating a Danish language ROM.
I find FRE. GER, ITA, ESN, NLD, WWE, but no DAN????
"I am really having a hard time locating a Danish language ROM.
I find FRE. GER, ITA, ESN, NLD, WWE, but no DAN????"
Then it aint just me being total clueless.. I cant find any either..
Im bafled by this world.. I basically have two modest demands: To record calls in mp3 and get easy access to my to-do list.. preferably on my homescreen, but just as good by one of the nifty Hotbuttons Ive seen in pictures..
To get those two modest demands fulfilled I either:
- Need to give up on my danish interface and crack my phone beyond warranty and a chance of bricking it.
- Disable HTC sense and go with WM interface
I know how limited I would be with any other phone, but this road I got myself on is really amazing

I found some Danish support threads, just search Danish Topaz in XDA and you may find something to load over a WWE rom.
Personnaly I think you will be disappointed if you do not take the plunge.
I had a Rhodium before my Topaz and once I go tmy Topaz, I couldn't stand it. It wouldn't do half the **** my Rhodium did. Because I had my Rhodium flashed to custom.
Finally HSPL was released and I flashed it immediately and can't believe I ever liked that other brick of a phone.
Take your time, get comfy with the process first, and read lots on the language packs.
The brick warning is just a disclaimer and it is very difficult to achieve if you follow the steps correctly.
I know these are expensive toys to take a chance on, but they really are only at 50% capacity out of the box. What a waste....

Just trying to give a little back.
Greetz from SoCal.
I agree.. The helpfulnes here has been overwhelming, and has given me the bravery to try this out. But I am still very nervous.
Let me sum up what I learned from tonight.
1) When following your instructions I will have a phone which I can modify with custom roms.
2) As long as I am 100 % sure the rom is for Topaz I dont have to worry about messing up and bricking my phone due to doing wrong stuff to the radio-thingie? (yes, I still dont understand what that is)
3) I will be able to get back to factory defaults and warranty by installing the official rom you linked and afterwards install the original spl thingie afterwards?
4) Should I mess up and brick my phone, there is a fair chance of being able to restore it by the help of another device and a micro SD-card? (See I DO try and learn myself.. (Its probably incorrect though ))
5) I need to give up on the danish interface, but I will without too much hassle be able to get a danish keyboard?
6) To be absolutely sure not choosing a wrong ROM, please confirm this one as a possible choice: "Duttys Topaz HG R10 [5.2.23541.5.5.0]"
It is downloading and I am ready to take the leap... Geronimoooo!
