Sweeter Home! - G1 Apps and Games

Has anyone downloaded the free preview for this app? It looks awesome and has a user edit built in.
Finally a different home setup that really changes the interaction.

Yep - MASSIVE editing abilities. Great start and should hopefully get better. The app scrolling is faster than the standard Android home in my experience, no lag at all! Few force closes while editting here and there but mostly remembers what you edited when it relaunches. Calendar seems broken for me, only shows a handful of what appointments I actually have coming up. Still in Beta though so with improvements could be exceptional.

Tried it out last night, not really my cup of tea. I like Open Home much better. Also, it force closed on me countless times, untill it just got too annoying and I uninstalled.

OK this thing has some pretty great potential. I'm going to build some screens and upload screen shots later. EG, no need for folders, you can create a realtime scrolling tray and drag apps into it.

Good stuff so far. Shows a lot of potential. I think you should be able to span background wallpapers like in normal home, and not just the same image stretched for every pane. I think there also needs to be more controls over the layout options. Good start. I wish the other home alternatives had this kind of customization.

Maybe I'm just lazy or maybe it's that I've gotten used to using dxTop, but the layout of it is horrendous! I mean, I even think all the screens of aHome is better than that. Up, home, right, home, left, home, etc. I found it annoying within the first 5 minutes.

its not about UI right now
this has more potential than all the other home screen changing applications which mostly all they do is change icons...and added extra screens, this goes beyond it and makes your G1 efficient and business savy, recent calls, texts, etc all in front of the screen.. like yes it has UI problems, but the potential of ACTUAL customization is beyond these other applications, and they charge..
with their lite versions etc.
it has made the home page a personal thing, and isn't that what we all love, personalization.

For introductions, that's all it's about. I'm not talking about themes or anything else, but the layout is crap. The idea may be good and maybe if those tabs stayed on each screen so you don't have to constantly go back to the center to get anywhere it would be more efficient. But, as it stands if I'm not impressed by how it looks, I'm not even going to waste my time in testing it out...same as how I won't give a website a chance if it's appearance is lacking. First impressions are everything.

so im guessing, judge a book by its cover.
i agree with the UI being hideous.
but compared to ahome, dxtop and open home, all they're done is the same thing, a couple widgets, extra pages (that just move differently from each other) and changing icons. that's it..
yehs, sweeter home is not good to look at, its the ugly duckling right now, but with all its features and the developer open for suggestions and implementing things, it's far better than the other home applications.
i gave it a chance and tested the product out before making any ASSUMPTIONS and i like the features but not the UI, but everything is a work in progress and the developer actually went beyond just chaning major icons, adding an extra page and widgets like what OTHER HOME applications have already done.

I make no assumptions, merely observations. I don't like the UI and attraction is the first step to any partnership. I never said I wasn't willing to give it a shot later, you assumed that. I said as it is now, it sucks.
From my experience with dxTop, the UI works with the theme I have on my phone. There are no extra downloads or specifics that I have to implement. I'm not saying it's the best, but that's a lot better than any of the others are doing.

Tried it, a little too much for me.
I like it simple. Open Home for me.

Here's screen 1, 2 and 3 I've set up so far. Few bugs I've found (app TRAY has started duplicating the actual apps in it for every new tray added, not sure why)... anyway, looks pretty good and once more stability and features are released this will be my default home I think...
Left is SMS's with quick links to contact apps below.
Middle is (top) most used apps, (middle) all apps, (bottom) communication apps, (here's where I want more app trays but won't really work atm, I want a utils tray, games try, notes tray, and comms tray with all apps on a different screen).
Right is contact list.
--- Photobucket died right when I updated the images, stand by --

I think I figured out the tray duplication thing, just gotta test it. RENAME the trays! LOL.
EDIT: updated screen above. Got extra trays working - all scroll horizontally. Added labels to app trays and added labels to SMS and contacts list.
Next: "all" apps tray on the lower screen, and skin the calendar (even though it's broken) on the top screen...

I tried getting this app last night and a few times today but I keep getting "download unsecessful".

I put a quick vid on youtube too so you can see it in action.

Can't find it man, I think I got it from http://g1wallz.com/ - or maybe in the wallpapers topic on here? I'll upload it later when I get time.

See, I cant find it in my market. Im assuming that Im having so much trouble with my market because I have an ADP Phone? I cannot purchase, Ahome or Open home (the paid versions dont show up)

i can't find it on market either- i did yesterday but it gave me download unsuccessful. since then i can't find it- maybe it has been taken off for fixing or something?

I tried backing it up with Astro but couldn't do it.
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.sweeterhome.preview1 - Doesn't do it for you? There's a new version, I'm about to update.
EDIT: You can now long press in a tray to bring up shortcuts. Nice. Works with Anycut too, not BetterCut though

Alternative to SPB Mobile Shell *Today Plugin Only*

Hi all, I hate asking broad questions like this, but I've been looking around and just can't find anything..
I really like SPB Mobile Shell, but I only use the Today plugin. I don't use the Now, Cube, any of that other stuff it provides. Ever.
What I do use is the ability to tab other Today plugins, Most Recently Used/Pinned apps, and a single Photo dailer.
Seems like not a lot out of all of the SPB Mobile Shell functionality, so does anyone know anything that does the above? I'd just like to check out some alternatives, compare ram usage, screen real estate usage, etc.
The 'complete' list of what I have under SPB Mobile Shell, just in case it helps:
Tab1: MRU/Pinned Apps
Tab2: SPB Weather Today plugin
Tab3: Battery Status Today plugin
Tab4: Alarm stuff, but never actually use it except for times in 3 countries
Tab5: Photo Dialer
And on the today screen I also have PhoneAlarm and the generic Calendar today plugins, for a total of 'three' plugins on the Today screen. I like to be able to see the PA and Calendar plugins all the time.
Thanks for any suggestions!

THIS is my all singing, all-dancing saviour. Don't take much notice of the screenshots, because they look awful, it's all fully customisable.
If you like fiddling D) with your phone and you don't mind taking some time to choose your backgrounds etc, I'm pretty sure this'll satisfy your today screen requirements.
It's absolutely awesome, and so perfect (for me) that I can't believe it took me so long and so many searches and general browsing to find it.
Simply perfect imho.

Well, I thought it was clear that I'd searched, googled, and basically read up on all of the typical today/launchers/etc.. So just to make it clear; I did
WAD was one I looked at, but my god, people were talking about it "only" taking 6.5M of ram, etc...
I does look extremely flexible, but it's simply a ram whore. I suppose I should have mentioned that was one that I'd looked at pretty closely.
I haven't seen mention of what space it takes up with some sort of 'minimal' theme, but all the themes I've seen for it are really overcomplicated. But perhaps I haven't seen the 'right' theme yet. Most of them were based around viewing some interesting 'information' but few were showing off the abilities to use the device.
Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll keep looking at WAD, assuming that this 6.5M figure is for these huge themes I've seen and typical usage is much lower.
I use Today Revolution/T-Revolution/Hinavigator Touch-to-Go.
I use all these names but i enjoy it. mind you it does not have a lot of skins yet but it works for me so far.

Does SPB Pocket Plus allow you to put arbitrary plugins in tabs? I actually trialed it before SPB Mobile shell and I don't recall it having that ability.
Okay, I've dug some more, apparently it can do that. I'll have to re-evaluate it, not sure why I didn't stay with it before. Thanks for pointing that out to me!
Good thing is, I've hard reset due to switching ROMs since, so I can trial it again.
I don't know if you want something this complete but my sig says my favorite! THROTTLE!

Yes you can put whatever plugins you want in pocket plus. Its fine in WM 6.0 but has some little issues with WM 6.1. There is an icon refresh issue but its minor (after a soft reset, the icons are messed up, you have to refresh the tabs to correct them). Its due for update (Dec 07 is latest) and that may help.
That said, I went back to Throttlelauncher. I did try the new Manilla2d but you can't load your plugins on that.

I was just jumping into this thread to follow up and was going to gripe about that issue. I Haven't looked at their forums, but I assume they're aware of the problem. That is annoying.
I've 'reorganized' my home views a bit, now I have one screen with my main used apps plus what would follow behind them, since there's no MRU. And about half the time some random number of them have no icons. Fixing it is easy, but tedious, unless there's some way to refresh all of them that I haven't seen.
I'll peep at Throttle, I hadn't looked at it too closely, I thought it looked mostly like "canned" info, not stuff you could pull things into.
Otherwise, Pocket Plus seems to be working out fairly well. I'm playing with Diary too, but it's really slow to load so I think I won't stay with it. If I used it as "the" Today screen, it'd be fine I suspect.
Thanks for all of the suggestions everyone!

Here's what I have so far.. I am going to add a photo dialer somewhere I think, I was sorta using Diary for that but that's about all I think I'd use it for, so it's way too much for that.
The tabs are in order, but I didn't highlight the tab above so it's not obvious I guess.. The fourth tab is currently empty.
FYI, the weather is SBSH with the "Wonder" skin and Samurize Huger icons.

Neat scroll bar at the bottom with access to everything and more space on the screen. Check out the website.
Update: Download now available from the site.
http://hpp.intuitit.mobi/home
So I installed it........now what?
use it as your home replacement its in beta stage so things can only get better
umm i like it. im still not willing to use any home besides the default just because i like the speed, but this one is very nice. seems a little better in some ways than GDE thats for sure. but GDE isnt free... this is! best part cant wait to see how this develops
this is easily the most responsive and intuitive home replacement app i've used. sweeter home preview 1 was a previous favourite, but the lack of widget support has seen it lag behind and as GDE costs money, i've never used it, even though it looks good.
the bar at the bottom is extremely useful and well thought out, as is the integrated task manager. the fact it can display widgets is great and the option to hide the notification bar is another brilliant idea. i would love to see klaxon support alongside alarm clock support, but that's just me being ridiculous.
all in all, i am looking forward to seeing this home replacement app taking off in a big way.
Looks awesome but could someone post the apk its not warez cause its free I just want to pull the clock out of it I'm on blur which is 1.5 this is complied for 1.6 and 2.0 so it does not show up in my market or if your worried about a mod just PM me with a link please and thanks
I like it, it'll be interesting to see how it develops from here and how the animated widgets turn out.
EDIT: I don't know if the dev's ever visit here but I think it would be nice if the items on the power strip were configurable. As an example I never use the google search or favorites icon, so if they could be disabled that would be awesome. Also the ability that the advanced launcher has to hide apps from the app drawer is awesome, if that could be incorporated as well?
I'm still on 1.5 so this isn't available in my market, but I switched for fun to 1.6 last night and caught this application, I like it. Someone finally hid the notification bar which I think is a nice change.
And apparently you can have semi animated widgets with this HR which is pretty cool
It's really very nice. We only need real replacement for root users.
There shoud be possibility to customize bottom icons - I don't use voice search and I'd replace the icon with something else.
searched for it in the market and realised im on android 1.5. gonna have to switch to 1.6. its worth reflashing just for getting rtid of the notification bar
I like it. I don't know if it will be my replacement home screen, but I might try it for a while.
Well i will try and get the apk or link to it for everyone but the app is in beta so we can make suggestions and make it into the must have home app becuase all the others are just missing that something but this looks promising.
this home screen replacement is the fastest, most responsive and has the best functionality out of all home screens, its almost as fast as stock home screen.
I cant wait to see what they will add or improve over the next weeks since its still beta. Its so fast I cannot think of anything that they could do to improve speed.
I just love the little scroll bar on the bottom, I love the way you can close all apps with function button on bottom.
Hi, it looks promising, i like it.
Very promising !
First of all, let me thank you a lot for this innovative home replacement app.
Thanks !
I really like the features of the bottom bar. Scroll it to see even more elements is great and I was really surprised to see that I could click on the battery, the sound indicator, the network icon, etc. Long press on some icons to access to the related settings menu is another good idea.
To hide the notifiation bar makes my home to seem bigger, really nice
Workspace in a loop is comfortable too.
I noticed two bugs (edit) :
- Sometimes (like 50% of the time), when the phone goes of its "standby" mode (menu to unlock...), the hidden notification bar left a black and empty area on top of the screen. All the home content is displaced down (of the height of the notification bar). If you press the physical home button, everything goes in the right place again. I couldn't find a regular cause to this...
- When you press the notification icon in the bar, the panel appears but there's an empty (and transparent) space on top of the screen. It's not that bad but it's graphically stange and it doesn't occur with other panels (tasks, applications,...).
.:EDIT:.
Ok, I don't know how but I managed to add the Pure Calendar widget. It didn't worked the first times... and now it's ok.
If I'm allowed, I'd like to make some suggestions :
- settings to manage the scrolling bar content (applications, statuts,...)
- BetterCut support (please)
- Add a % indicator for the battery status in the bar
- support for the font packs
I'm trying it right now and I like it, however, I have gotten 4 FC/Wait messages so far when closing out of an application (ie. GMail). Other than that, very nice home replacement. This is the first time I've ever used a home replacement too.

I didn't get a chance to play with it last night much, but I have had the same problem this morning. I added the power, audio, music and pandora widgets and it really slowed it down. I have those same widgets running Cy 4.2.5 with no issues.
I really hope they get this right, it looks really nice.
Download app from website
App can now be downloaded from the site if you cant access market. See first post. Ive got it working fine with pure calender ill upload picture when i get home from work.
App in action
Here you go my homescreen and pure calendar running great.
Its ok.
For BETA I guess thats good.
Needs to be faster and more customizability.
Placing the power strip at top or bottom would be nice , ability to change whats in the power strip.
Do love that you can keep scrolling and get back to main screen.

[PRJ-REQ] Tatanium theme: Winmo 7

Hi all,
I saw the winmo 7 video other day in youtube. It looks great but it was like a dejavu for me. I have sony erricsson Xperia X1, in that we have a panel called Media experience, it is more or less the same as new winmo interface. (for those who haven't seen it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEQt8tGUuYg )
The only differences are that instead of txt showing you where you are (each time you get in a folder the name of the txt goes on top, that way you know where you are) in Media experience it shows you an icon

notice the icon on the right ( music icon) indicates that you are in music player. Oh yeah and unlike winmo7 it is in the left side. The thing that this is missing is the clock on the background (i photoshoped it) and the weather widget.
HTC UI is great but it also slows down the phone, that's why I prefer titanium. I was wondering if somebody could figure out a way to put a clock and weather widget with it. Some other pics,
That theme concept looks gorgeous. It's a brilliantly huge improvement over the default Titanium. However, it reminds me of the SE media manager. But nevermind that.
The clock on the top right corner looks ugly - it's doesn't blend well within the theme. I suggest that a plain text clock in the background should be implemented to give the theme a minimalistic and elegant look. I've worked up on the image to show you what I mean.
The menus should also have some transparency so the background and the clock are visible.
i think it's better the clock on the background but the icon only the bigger at the center end take away the little one at the left!
d3thstalker your picture looks exactly what I was thinking. I did a quick paintbrush work so it looks awefool. But yeah this is what I was talking about, how though
It would be really awesome if someone could develop this for us. I have no background in developing anything or whatsoever. However, I'd like to extend my help to wherever I can.
EDIT: Perhaps if someone could post links to guides or tutorials on editing the Titanium menu, I can try something.

It doesn't look that difficult, it's worth a try. But you are reminded again that I have no background in these things or whatsoever, so don't get your hopes too high, I might simply dump the project if I can't do it.
I'm handling some workload from my office atm, I'll begin immediately after that. I'll flash my phone to WM6.5.3 today, however, to take a look at how this whole thing works. On second thought, it would be better if someone could pass me the following files from the WINDOWS directory on their phone - bronzeres.dll, CHome_listback.png (hidden file) and Titanium_240x320.cpr

Maybe My email, [email protected]
Ok I just sent it to you. I looked at the tutorial too, when I opened the bronzess.dll in PE explorer I see lots of icons, starting with the number of 2000 to 4000. I can guess how to change the icons, but I dont understand how can I change the system of how icons are being shown. I mean in "Media Experience Panel" when you tap on something it goes to the left side. How do make that happen? Anyway I dont know anything about programming.
Hope somebody comes up with a solution.
I understand the link between the registery, the bronzeres.dll and the way the icon are displayed. However, I still don't understand how to shift the icons to the left side. I think that has something to do with Titanium_240x320.cpr.
I don't think that it's possible to make the icons shift to the left upon clicking them because I have never seen that in a theme. I think that would require the Titanium code to be re-written or something, which is beyond me.
EDIT: This modding of titanium is too hard for me, I don't understand several aspects of it. I am letting go of it here.
Ok I think I figured it out. Its not Titanium that can do this stuff. It is actually this
http://developer.sonyericsson.com/cws/devworld/technology/windows-mobile/xperia-x1?cc=gb&lc=en
which probably can do this. Hmmmm............ I guess I have to do this all by myself

clock:
next alarm info beneath clock maybe?
apps:
option where you can select favorite programs, possibly override windows start menu??
also qould be quite cool, if we go with the sliding theme, if the apps page (faves and all programs) could be brought up by sliding the main screen up
friends:
favorites would be very good
text:
i selected sms chat as the sms program, but when i click on a text message it still brings up the usual messaging app from samsung
when i get a new text message, i click on 'new texts' but it doesnt open anything, when i go swipe to the text page, my new text does not appear there either
mail:
im guessing this hasn't been implemented yet, but can't wait until it does ...
other:
the sliding can it combined with the ability to click on the sub-menus to see that page? i.e. so you do not need to swipe twice to get from 'friends' to 'mail'
just on this, when i was the friends page, and i click on the 'text' it takes me to the 'mail' page, but then the theme doesnt respond anymore??
alternate home screen: YES PLS
the impementation of clicking the text or mail word... doesnt work... as you found out... that is going to be disabled... the screens already scroll super easy... not hard to go from one end to the other...
im working on making the apps page so you can drag it up... not there yet...
i havent configured the sms program chooser yet....
mail page works... im not sure to what extent... i didnt code it... lol...
i am glad u like the alt. home screen... i think its pretty smexy too
as always... thanks for your great feedback wil_dee

Ok Thanx! Great
Very nice simple and elegant, but have following questions:
Mail page does not show anything, i looked through all xml and found nowhere any mail settings.
Wouls also love the option to select to show only favorites contacts or to add some favorite peoples.
Same for favorite programs, maybe an additional page to add a few programs and settings shortcuts.
For me the best solution would be if i could replace the contact page by a shortcuts page, where i would place 5 shortcuts to subfolders for weather, internet, fav people, applications and settings (i already have them).
This theme is without HW acceleration? Or need acc. too
Good luck
no acceleration required
Hi,
can you help me with some questions:
If installing this .cab, does it
- Add a new Element to select from the Home screen setting
- Does it interffere with Sense / CHT
- Can it be uninstalled without damaging the installation?
Thanks
Gescha
I am assuming that you are referring to throttle launcher itself
it is not linked to or related to Sense or CHT it is a UI in its won right so you would have to choose and deslect whichever you wanted at any given time.
It can be install/uninstalled without effecting anything else
Well .. what can I say? This is the best theme so far. I'll stay tuned for updates. Thanks.
Really nice. Love the minimalistic look.
Awesome. Love it.
Super Easy
Trek, youve done it again! This is crazy smooth! It is very minimilistic, something I think an option to increase would be great.
what I mean is that instead of opening Apps, and the start menu, maybe a second 'fav apps' screen that opens another screen for just your favorite apps. This is where you program your icons, etc.
Yea, would love the mail to work, but love how responsive text app is.
Another option, I use text alot! Maybe be able to choose which is first slid to (text, mail, friends)
The ability to show weather would really be great, like shown on the first post. Not sure if there is something that I missed.
I do have the same issue with tapping 'text', it goes to 'mail', and then program freeze. Doesn't require a reset, just a reload theme, and its all back.
Lock screen is really touchy. I checked and saw that I had accelleration at 10, with friction at 1. Reversed accell to 1, friction to 3, that helped alot. just a hint to folks out there.
And finally, maybe a calender screen or setting as well?
Love it, super smooth, super simple, great job as always!

most of these things have either been addressed or been implemented ... i like the configurable text, friends, mail order idea... but unfortunately the system im using for making it so easlily scrollable .... this may not be possiblee... no wait.. yeah i can do that..!!! sorry!!!
the picture on th front post with the weather you are refering to is not yet.... but how it will look when i am done..
so you didnt miss anything
i am removing the lockscreen... will prolly make skins or themes for the windows default lockscreen and one for the oboe style...
calendar implementation is planned but still unsure how to incorporate...
tapping text goes to mail bug will be removed... was an attempt that did not work with the concept..
otherwise... glad you enjoy it... my main purpose is to keep it simple and smooth for all devices...
and be Daily driver Worthy... my only currently daily driver worthy one is my own modded version of the BBSTORM theme...
i thought about releasing since it is modded and junk... not technically original design... so i think i might but there is a few things i have to address first.... ill email ya if ya want to try it lol....
thanks for your feedback Jerry

BIG Launcher

Been playing around with the free version of Big Launcher a bit before I decide if it s worth making the $5 plunge for the Full Version,.. It just might have some potential on the Rooted Nook..
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ua3VuZXMuYW5kcm9pZC5sYXVuY2hlci5hY3Rpdml0eSJd
Thoughts?
Looks nice and clean enough for the home screen. However the added functionalities (phone, contacts, sms) might make it a bit too bloated. At the moment I'm quite happy with launcher7 with minimalistic icons and visual effects stripped off.
Can you please post some screenshots or photographs on how it looks on the nook screen?
I just started playing around with the free version, so havent done much, but I think zecoj may be right. It looks good, but seems a little bloated..

Agree, its configuration interface is quite unintuitive to work with but once it's set up and backed up in TB, all is well.
Hum... Doesen't suit's me.
Wastes too much screen area.
Thanks for the screenshots, anyway!

I'm trying to minimize memory footprint and keep things simple on my NST. I've gone for a "Launcherless" approach, trying to avoid ever seeing the Launcher as much as possible. I don't like to spend a lot of time playing with the device. I try to focus on USING it for reading and productive things. The last thing I want to do is make my nice little Android device look like a poor wannabe imitation of a Microsoft product!
1. Most of the time, I use my reader for ... reading. I use the Mantano Reader to completely replace the B&N Home, Library and Reader apps:
2. When I'm doing something else, I usually only use a handful of apps (4) bound to the B&N QuickMenu using Nook Touch Tools:
3. If I need any other apps, I go to my ADW Launcher EX home screen. Very rarely do I get this far, and anything else is in the app drawer:
I could use ADW Launcher to save a bit more memory, but ADW EX lets me get those big icons. It's a pain to configure since some of the menus don't show (white text on white background), but I've figured it out with a bit of poking around. Once I've done the basic setup, changing things around is simple and quick.
I've previously used FolderOrganizer to get quick menus on the Notification screen, but I didn't like having yet-another launcher running in the background.

Definitely plan on trying out Mantano..
As for Launchers, I go back and for between ebooklauncher, and ReLaunch. There are features of both I really like, just wish I was experienced enough to try and combine them, lol
Mantano
Yes, you should definitely try Mantano - best pdf handling i found so far.
Ah, thanx for the launchet - it looks nice and tidy!
