To restore a dumped ROM:
To get the tools you'll need, install Kitchen for Jade (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441872).
Put your Part02.raw file in the Jade_Kitchen folder.
Open a command prompt and type cd c:\Jade_Kitchen.
Type the following two commands:
TOOLS\ImgfsToNb Part02.raw ROM\OS.nb.payload OS-new.nb.payload
TOOLS\NBMerge -kaiser OS-new.nb
Double-click htcrt.exe in the TOOLS folder:
Click the Build! button.
Select Jade * in Device list.
Put your version in the Version box.
Change Language if necessary.
Click ... after the OS box and select the OS-new.nb you just built (it's in the Jade_Kitchen folder).
Click Build! and enter RUU_signed.nbh in the File name box, click Save.
Wait a few minutes for htc rom tool to do it's stuff and you'll have RUU_signed.nbh in your Kade_Kitchen folder ready to be flashed.
Copy your new RUU_signed.nbh from the Jade_kitchen folder into the FLASH folder (you can delete or rename the RUU_signed.nbh that's already there).
Double-click CustomRUU.exe to flash the ROM.
Your phone should now be restored to it's original ROM.
Click to collapse
But CustomRUU.exe shows 0% and nothing happens..
**edit**
flashed HARD-SPL.. now the update run..
hmm i thought i need HARD-SPL only for modded ROMs not for original dumps ?!

You need to hard SPL to by pass the signing check on the ROM Images. Unless you dump the ROM and rebuild it and sign it again you'll need Hard SPL.
Dumped/Reconstructed ROM's are different from official releases.
Also without HardSPL, official releases won't flash if the Carrier ID (CID) is different (i.e. can't put an T-Mob Rom on a Vodafone device).

HELP! What is my country ID???

OK, I have a Cingular SX66, I flashed it using the WWE Versions With Arabic Customizing WITHOUT the ExtROM, meaning I kept the Cingular ExtROM, no problem, flashed find.
After that, I flashed the RadioROM 1.06.02 ALONE, and right now, when I hard reset, it says NO GSM, in other words, it became a PDA only, phone function is no longer avaiable. I tried to flash other i-Mate ROMs, but it keep says Country ID is not correct, N-N-12-12-12. I ran GetDeviceData.exe, it comes out like this:
PH20B1 B 1 WWE E 1.31.00 0 0 1.31.112
So now, what is my country ID so that I can use the xda3nbftool.exe? It used to be XGULA001, or is there a way to execute the program without checking the country code, or a ROM with no country code checking.
TIA for all of your helps!
Still looking for help, tried O2 launch ROM, wrong Mobile ID error.
BTW, this is the DeviceDate.txt, before and after:
Before:
PH20B1 B 1 WWE E XGULA001 1.20.10 1 0 1.20.115 1.02.10 02.10
After:
PH20B1 B 1 WWE E 1.31.00 0 0 1.31.112
Nevermind, problem solved by flash another RadioROM from QTEK.
Paper weight
JRSmooth, I just saw your posts. I'm experiencing the exact same thing!!
I tried to upgrade my phone during the Christmas vacasion and haven't been able to use it ever since. The radio says FAILED during the startup sequence (which takes forever after the "upgrade")
How exactly did you fix it??

Well your situation maybe different from mine.
The radioROM I used was corrupted, I kind of knew it because when I flashed it, it did not show what version of radioROM am I flashing into. Now, what error message if you try to flash it again? Try to use a different radioROM from the same mfg. as your last flash.
Hope this help.
Well, it's a kind of embarrassing situation...
I've flashed my GSM device with a CDMA radio stack... It shows up as FAILED if you look at the version.
Hello,
Because your device IDs are different, eg, PH20B1 as opposed to PH20B0, you'll have to make a batch file to fix this. Here are a few instructions I threw together but REMEMBER - I take no responsibility for any damage done to your device. You are following these instructions below at your own risk!
1.) Download a full ROM upgrade file of your choice. I recommend the i-mate one in this folder here - ftp://xda:[email protected]/Imate_PDA2k_WWE_12200_162_10600_SHIP/ but feel free to use another.
2.) Extract the files from your full ROM by opening it with Winzip or Winrar and dumping it's contents into a folder. From now on it will be refered to as "your folder".
3.) Copy the file "GetDeviceData.exe" from your folder to your device and run it. It wont appear to do anything but it has!
4.) From your PC, browse to the Windows folder on your device. Copy the file "DeviceData.txt" to your folder.
5.) Open the "DeviceData.txt" file on your PC. You will see what ROMs your device has installed on it. Mine reads (without the blank/null characters):
PH20B0 B
WWE E
O2___001
1.22.00 0 0
1.22.162
1.06.00 06.00
The "PH20B0" is the device id, the "WWE" part is the country code and the "O2___001" part is the operator ID. Identify this information from YOUR "DeviceData.txt" file as your devices are different from mine and you will need this info for your upgrade. Make sure you write them down because if it's incorrect, you'll get errors and your device will hang!!!
6.) Download the file attached to this post, "Fix.zip" and extract it to your folder. Make sure you have the two files "xda3nbftool.exe" and "Fix.bat" in the root of the folder, not in a folder of it's own!
7.) Edit the file in your folder "fix.bat" using notepad (DON'T RUN IT YET). Replace the words "PH20B0" with your device ID, "WWE" with your country code and "O2___001" with your operator ID. Now, exit this file and save your changes.
8.) Run "fix.bat" from you folder. A Command promt window should appear and process the ROM files. This will change the device ID, country code and the operator ID to the ones you specified, thus allowing the upgrade to work on your device.
AT THIS STAGE, IF YOU CONTINUE, YOU WILL LOSE ALL THE DATA AND PROGRAMS ON YOUR DEVICE!!! BACKUP ALL FILES THAT YOU NEED!!!
9.) Run the "BaUpgradeUt.exe" file from your folder. This will start the upgrade process, so follow the on-screen instructions. During this you will see a screen with "From:" and "To:" showing what versions you have got to what versions you're going to. Make sure this data is correct and then continue.
10.) Once the upgrade has finished you'll be instucted to do a hard reset.
YOUR DONE - You should now have the upgraded ROM!!!
Good luck with this and let me know how you get on!
Regards,
Dom
I got a device of a friend. I'm not sure he used a wrong ROM image or the upgrade failed but it ended up with no Radio or ext ROM version in the boot screen .. only Rom 1.12.
More over, running getdevicedata.exe gives empty file with only "PH20" written there!
.. and any rom flashing gives operator id error.
my question is, can I update the Rom files to have no operator ID ?
Biso007,
In theory, you should just be able to follow my instuctions above but instead of using the standard PH20B1 or PH20B0 in the -sd switch ot the batch file, use PH20. This should allow you to continue with the upgrade process.
Regards,
Dom
Upgrading iMate PDA2k to O2 Rom
Can you tell me where I can download the Fix.Bat File?
Do you know if it will work to upgrade my iMate PDA2K to the O2 rom?
I keep getting an error message incorrect Country ID?
still getting the country id error...
can someone upload a country id free rom?
thanks
also it says checksum error.. how i fix this
thanks

CustomRUU for Shift

Here it is a CustomRUU for the HTC Shift, it is basically the same as the HTC RUU, but packed in one single exe file and slightly patched to perform a 'task 32' instead of a 'task 28' after flashing an NBH, so it will not format your device if you just flash a radio or a Splash screen.
Note: This CustomRUU will not allow you to flash unsigned files unless you have HardSPL installed, it will not push SSPL.
HardSPL and SSPL for the Shift will be released soon by the Shift Project Team, so please be patient
Instructions as always: Drop the NBH file of your choice in the same folder as CustomRUU and start flashing
Recommended tools for handling NBH files:
NBHextract - Extract contents from NBH files
htc rom tool - Repack NBH files from *.nb files
Enjoy
This means that one can now start to build custom roms ?
This means that one can now start to build custom roms ?
I gather that the first Custom ROM would be one where the trick of getting
"liberation of the SnapVue" done has already been performed
nice job pof. will come in handy soon
original RUU package
ok, if someone wants it, here it is (it *is* edited not to hard reset though, just like CustomRUU). also included NBH Util in subfolder in the zip file, with Shift selectable from device list (NBHUtil can both extract and build/rebuild NB/NBH files, so it is very flexible )
Thanks! Finally xda went to live! Also new ROM shift quickly
nice, can someone tell me how to flash a splash screen on the shift? i know how to do it on the tytn and universal.

Hi
1. Download KaiserKitchen and extract it to your harddisk.
2. Download Thaihugo uploaded WWE 1.22x as your base ROM and put the RUU_Signed.nbh (WWE 1.22x archive has it) in the BaseROM folder of KaiserKitchen
3. Copy the Part files in the same BaseROM folder of KaiserKitchen
3. There will be a batch file (I forgot its name, I am sorry) in the root folder of KaiserKitchen. Just Run that.
3a. Press e (extract)
3b. Press b (using base rom and part files)
4. follow the steps that it asks
5. press option for cooking (i think c or something) I forgot.
6. It opens the HTCRT. Select Kaiser in the options and select the NB file that it created from the base rom and your part files (basically it is Part 2 that is the language part).
7. Once it is done, it will create a RUU_Signed.nbh in the base ROM file (it lets you to chose name and folder).
I am sorry, I could not remember the exact option names. I am currently travelling. The instructions are on my home computer. The other day cmonex helped in extracting from Chinese for me. I tried to recollect our chat and presented it here. let me know how did it go. Otherwise, if you could wait till tomorrow evening (I live in CST), I could provide you correct name of batch file and options.
You can download KaiserKitchen from Kaiser sub forum here. Search for KaiserKitchen and you could get the link for it to download.
Thanks and HTH

Thanks for the help... but, I've problems with the process, please take a look at the S.S. uploaded in this thread...
Here's another SS, the updater stop working at 0% saying device not recognized in the taskbar...
I also tried using thaihugo updater with my new RUU_signed.nbh...
no result... it stop working at 2%
what's the problem?
don't use this kitchen. Use kaiserkitchen 0.3. also, the nbhutils must be olipro version, not htccrt.
here is the proper nbhutils

[How To] Step by step guide to Backup your Shift to nbh (All Steps!)

Please rate this thread if it was useful...
I know that stuff like this has been posted before but I have never seen a full guide begining to end on how to backup your rom so here is the complete guide (with links) beginning to end of how to backup your WM6X ROM on HTC's Shift to an NBH
To do this you will need a HTC Shift (dir), and basic knowledge of Windows Mobile, Vista, the command prompt and Syncing a WM device with a computer.
NOTE: I am NOT sure if you need HardSPL on the device to flash the ROM back onto your Shift (if someone could let me know that would be great), my guess is that you do as the created nbh will not be signed with HTC's Cert - HardSPL can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406606 and is compatible with GSM Shifts only (x9500)
If anyone has any suggestions as to how this post could be improved or tell me if something needs a more in-depth explanation, let me know - Thanks.
First you will need to Liberate your shift; instructions on how to do this can be found here: http://www.modaco.com/content/windows-mobile-news/266537/liberate-your-htc-shift/ (this step will "unlock" the restrictions on windows mobile - this is not necessary but makes installing RAPI tools and other files easier later.
Download HardSPL (we are not going to install HardSPL in this post, but the download includes RAPI that is needed prior to the next step) from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406606
When the download has finished extract the contents and copy EnableRapi.cab to your device (To do this select Settings from the today screen > USB Tool > Options > Detach from Vista > Options Attach to Vista - yes detach is not always required but seems to solve some issues with syncing).
Your device will now appear in "My Computer"; copy the file somewhere to your device then switch to Windows mobile and run the file.
Download the latest version of itsutils from: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html (Look under download section) then follow the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382609
After you have followed the instructions there you will have created RAW files of your Windows Mobile ROM (on the post you will notice the the code window in color - these may be different depending on your device and may need to be changed)
Now we need to convert the raw file to an nbh to do this you will need to download the shift kitchen from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=422914 then extract the files from the rar archive (using winrar, winace etc)
On some computers the below operation may fail saying "Error loading dll msvcr71.dll" so you should download and extract the attached zip file (msvcr71.zip) to the Tools directory
When you have done that put the *.raw files created by itsutils into the BaseROM directory and run the !BEGIN.cmd file
Select option 2 when asked to rebuild a ROM and follow instructions.
When the command has completed run the !COOK.cmd file; When a window appears titled BuildOS Click on the Play button and wait for the process to complete then close the BuildOS window
Follow further instructions; until another window appears, Select Shift as the "Target Device" and under "OS" select os-new.nb, then click "Build NBH!",
A window will appear asking you to save the NBH - DO NOT CHANGE THE PATH as it kept crashing when I tried to save elsewhere and call the file RUU_Signed.nbh
Copy the file RUU_Signed.nbh where you want and download and extract CustomRUU.zip (attached) to the same path
To restore the ROM all you need to do is Sync with Vista and run CustomRUU.exe
Feedback is always welcome,
Thanks,
Kris

All done! But when performing this process
BuildOS Click on the Play button and wait for the process to complete
I have Error window:
Error: File `ROM\XIP\boot.rgu` not found.
and when I click `OK` - process stops!?
What is wrong?
All done without errors!
Previous Error was under XP on D:\ with many subdirs to `shiftkitchen`.
Now all OK is under Vista with `shiftkitchen` in root of C:\
Thanks!
Little question. I am backuping original Russian ROM... an in the ending window (when I choose "Shift" and "os-new.nb") there is Language:WWE. Is there have to be something else?...

When you flash your ROM it will be the Russian ROM ... the WWE setting there and the version are just what is displayed in the ROM flashing tool (CustomRUU.exe)
I had the Spanish version and used this process beginning to end - and it says WWE in the flasher but still installs the Spanish version
Kris
Kris, thanks! Believe that I`ll not have reason to use it. But with this reserved ROM it is composed to make any ROM manipulatios.
Thanks once more!
can i request this to be a stickey?
thanks
Great work i00
I have added it to the WIKI and the FAQ thread.
I confirm that you DO need to install HardSPL on the device PRIOR to flashing the ROM back onto your SHIFT.
it's work

Back-up the rom and radio files
Hi i00, absolutely great guide, thank you for the hard and tidy work!
Since I'm a beginner in this area, before doing the dump job myself, kindly ask you to advise if the dump operation leaves the Shift unchanged on the winmo side and I can use it further, i.e. it is a read-only operation OR do I need to load back (flash back) the resulting back-up files (ROM and radio)?
Thank you!

Hi all
i just bought a brand new shift and want to have a back up of the ROM
I've exacted 4 parts of the rom, but unable to convert it back into a NBH
i cant seem to figure out if i need the RUU_Signed.nbh , and where do i get it from, i thought i was making RUU_Signed.nbh from the 4 raw part files.
if anyone can re upload the complete UK ROM.NHB i would be grateful
i have uploaded the 4 part files and the boot loader
www(dot)filedropper(dot)com/rawfiles

part01.raw
part02.raw
part03.raw

Including radio into cooked rom

Hi,
a few days ago I have flashed the latest radio on my device. This was 52.57.25.30u. Now I have cooked a new rom and flashed it. I had to realize that my radio was overwritten again (with the old "1.10.25.25").
So, I think the radio is included in the rom image. Is there a way I can include the 52.57.25.30u radio in my rom, so everytime I flash my rom I will have the 52.57.25.30u radio?
Best regards

I assume you mean the 1.09.25.14 stock radio that came with pretty much all HD devices up to this point.
What you need to do is download the Blackstone kitchen and the attached that jcespi2005 posted here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3171703&postcount=94
You need to rename the .nbh file to Ruu_Signed.nbh and place the .nbh file in the BaseROM folder of the kitchen.
Next run BlackStoneKitchen.cmd and choose the option e to extract a ROM.
Next select a. This should then extract all the files you need. The OS.nb is the ROM that you need and the 00_unknown.nb is the radio it should be around 21,000,000kb.
Use the HTCRT.exe to compile the new .nbh that you want. Open the HTCRT.exe in the tools folder of the kitchen. Note: Make sure that you downloaded the updated HTCRT.exe that jcespi2005 posted to compile flashable nbh files.
Select blackstone from the drop down menu. Open the OS.nb file in the HTCRT.exe program and then radio of your choice, in this case 1.09.25.14. Open the 00_unknown.nb with the HTCRT.exe. Build your new .nbh. Note: I always just name the new .nbh to BLACIMG.nbh so you can flash for a microSD card.
Ok, I have tried htcrt already, but not the updated version. Thanks a lot!

I hope it all works out for you. Please let the community know if it works for you!
I have another problem: I have a self-cooked rom (with the "old" radio included). Now I want to put in the "new" radio.
I have extracted the new radio to an nb file (using the kitchen) and have a nb file of my rom. After putting them together with htcrt tool my nbh file is too big (about 20 megabytes), so I think there are now two radios included (the old and the new one).
How can I delete the old one out of my nb file?
If you simple extract your rom with the kitchen and rebuild it, you'll have the same rom without radio inside. Then you can add the new radio.
