facebook integration not availabe in current WM6.5 TF3D - Touch HD Windows Mobile ROM Development

tried nos. of cook room here
and none of them integrate with it
is it the bugs of 6.5rom ?

its not that it doesn't integrate, it integrates diffierently from that found in dutty's rom.
The only real thing i've found i cannot do is create my contact card from facebook. However i can sync contacts to get pictures, dob etc, if there are no discrepancies between whats on fb & whats in contacts on the phone.

You mean that a kind of FB integration is currently possible in WM 6.5?
Where? I never saw it...

Phone won't save contacts to MSN anymore on the newer ROMs!

I have a big issue with the newer ROMs (I beliebe starting with Windows 6.1).
In the newer ROMs, I have noticed that adding a contact to the phone does not create an MSN Messenger contact anymore (you can't chose to make a contact an MSN contact as well).
This is very annoying, as everytime I flash a new ROM or I change my phone
I have to manually recreate those contacts. I used to simply synchronize with MSN messenger and then all my contacts would come back.
The only workaround I can see consists in creating each contact in MSN messenger directly, which is not practical at all.
You would have hoped the phone would ask you where the contact should be added (MSN, phone only or both) but it doesn't behave that way anymore.
Am I doing something wrong?
Also when I delete contacts on my phone it doesn't delete them in MSN and so they appear again everytime MSN synchronizes.
I believe this issue started with Windows 6.1 and the new option to save contacts immediately after call. The layout for saving a contact is different.
Is this due to the new HTC phone application? Any ideas how to solve this?

import contacts facebook

hey guys!
I wanted to import my contacts from facebook to my winmo, however I tried several apps which don't do the job at all, neither does Microsoft Facebook.
Does anyone know how this can be done?
Thanks
I would be interested to know as well. Thank you

try this: it's only for mac though!
http://www.maciverse.com/add-your-facebook-friends-phone-numbers-to-address-book.html
outsync is free but it only sync facebook contacts portrait with outlook portraits but useful enough
have u tried "booksynch" http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-booksync.html
Good but dont get contact Phone number and e-mail
I use fonebook to sync my contacts into (desktop) Outlook and then I sync them to the phone. The phonebook app lets you choose the size of the pictures you add to the contacts, so it doesn't look nasty on the diamond's vga screen.

Need to save contacts without using outlook

Hell everyone,
I tried using search to find a solution for this but I havn't been able to. I am currantly about to install a custom ROM. I have downloaded Hardspl and isntalled it on the phone. But after watching the who to install a custom ROM i found out that all my contacts and sms will be deleted. I tried to save through sync but i don't have outlook on my computer and therefore cant save them that way. I was wondering how do I save my contacts and sms without using outlook. I have installed NS Contacts Backup v1.2 but I can't find the file assosiated with contacts and sms'. IS there another way I can back up my contacts and sms before installing the custom ROM??
Thanks
I think that you will find what you search here
I second PIMBU
MS MyPhone online backup.
http://sn1-p2.myphone.microsoft.com/mkweb/Start.po
or spb backup...http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/backup/
hmm.. I have similar problem....I need to transfer contacts from my old P910i(yes, Symbian device) to my X1.
Anyone knows how?
I cant even copy contacts to SIM card since it can be copied only one-by-one, and I have really A LOT of contacts, so it would take a great deal of time.
Any suggestion ??

1. MyPhone through the internet
2. Best solution: use free PIMBackup by FdcSoft.
Great free app making backup of data to your storage card, restorable any time.
Backups contacts, sms, mail, calendar, tasks etc.......

Symbian phones should allow for select all > copy from Phone to SIM.
I should know, I shifted from a 5700XM (S60) to Xperia (excluding the retarded stopgap LG Arena in the middle.)

Oh please. How can you store 1000 contacts to SIM?
With multiple data like email, many numbers, address?
The only way from P910 to X1 is Outlook,
that's what I did from P1 to X1.
You can sync contacts, calendar, notes, tasks.
Beware: better sort all the contacts the way they're present in Outlook/WM phones or you'll loose some data,
like multiple MOBILE numbers: WM accepts just one mobile, on UIQ you could add as many as you want....

How was I to know you had so many contacts? I have 122 each with address, email, mobile, house number, and everything transferred fine.

Manila 2.5 Facebook contacts and birthdays

Hi,
I've allready posted my concern a couple of times in the |B|6.5.1|ROM|WWE| ★ EnergyROM "Leo" 23081/21864 | Oct 28 | ★ Manila 2.5 ★ thread, but nobody is willing or is not able to give me a concrete answer.
In the following quoted message I've described my concern:
giniman said:
With all manila 2.5 versions I've tried so far, the fb contact pictrures are stored under \Windows\FBContacts and will not set as wm contact pictures. All fb pictures and birthdays are shown in manila, not in wm contacts though.
So if you select show more contact informations on manila contact, you will be redirected to the wm contact manager and there are no photos and no birthdays set. That's the reason why the caller ID is not working and also all these informations are not synchronized with outlook
This is really sad, because on manila 2.1 everything was working as expected and this feature is sooooo sweet
So I think this is definitiv a manila 2.5 bug, or a htc feature...lol
Hopefully someone is able to fix that.

I would like to know if this is only a bug in all the ported manila 2.5 roms, or does the original leo manila version has the same strange behaviour?
I can't imagine that htc would remove that great feature...
If anybody could give me a concrete answer to that issue, that would be great
I really like the look an feel of the new manila 2.5, but without that working feature I need to flash back a rom with manila 2.1.
Thx in advance
greetz giniman
I've got the same problem/issue as you.
I try to live with it, but every ROM I'm hoping this issue to be resolved... It's the only thing that I still need for 'the perfect ROM'.
I'am missing that, too.
Maybe the quality of the FB pictures is too bad???
I have the same Problem.
try this for photos: http://www.booksync.co.uk/
"This is an application for Windows Mobile phones that will allow you to synchronise the pictures of the contacts in your phone with profile pictures of your friends on Facebook.
Because phone book contacts may not match with peoples real names on Facebook you first match the contacts. This matching is then stored for future synchronising."

Thx for that tip, I already know that app and I used to use it before manila 2.1
What I mean is that manila 2.5 implements the feature of automatic downloading the fb contact pictures and birthdays, they are not stored in the native wm contact library though. Manila itself is able to show these pictures and birthday events, but wm is not!!
The real strange thing is that with manila 2.1 everything was working correct
Is there any great xda chef out there who is able to fix that?? Or maybe we should ask this question in the Leo section to get the info if this is a general manila 2.5, or only a porting bug.
greetz giniman
I agree this is very strange, why on earth would they not store the information in the native contact? They mus thave implemented their own contact database in addition to the native one, very odd! There is almost no point of facebook integration if you can't sync birthday information and see the photo when they call etc..

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who is missing this feature...
greetz giniman
Glad there's a dedicated thread for this! Its was one of the features that most impressed me when I flashed my first dutty 6.1 ROM, and in fact, got me returning to the same ROM after subsequent 6.5 ROMs lost the feature. I'm currently on Dutty's holy grail 6.5 with manila 2.1, and this only syncs the photo, but not the contact. I tried the 2.5 version and that didn't sync either.
It'd be great to get to the bottom of this but alas I have no programming skills whatsoever so can't be of much help!
all birthdays shifted 1 day
I've got another strange issue with birthdays:
I noticed this at the first 6.5 rom I flashed (dutty's R6) - ALL birthdays are shown 1 day shifted after syncing from exchange! When I correct some and sync again - nothing happens with the 'original' contact @ exchange, where the birthday always was correct.
E.g.: My contact card in manila shows my birthday as the 8th february, though my birthday is on the 9th - also the exchange contact states the 9th feb.
When I now correct my birthday on my phone and sync with exchange, nothing happens to the exchange contact birthday, but the phone-contact-birthday stays correct. But when I hard-reset my phone and sync again - guess what: all birthdays shifted again... So WTF?
When I sync a contact with FB it shows the correct date in addition - so 2 birthdays are shown....
Am I alone with this?
[edit]
I'm on duttys holy grale R0 manila 2.5 right now
OK I did some more testing, here is what I found using Miri's 12.0 ROM. Obviously with different ROMs you may have different results.
- Birthdays downloaded do go into WM contacts, and then are sync'ed via Activesync (hooray!)
- Photos do not, but can be selected manually using WM contacts and then sync - normally this appeared in outlook, but not always. But borwsing to the Windows\FBContacts folder is very slow, 2 minutes to select each photo, since it displays a preview of all the folders. It would be nice if you could turn that off, or choose another folder to save contacts in (e.g. outside Windows). Pictures also look good both on the people screen and in outlook contacts and when calling.
- When you select a facebook contact to associate with, you have to wait for it to show the photo otherwise it never downloads it and you have to re-associate
- Also, I tried creating a shortcut to FBcontacts folder to make selecting a picture quicker, but that doesn't work
- If you let it show all photos of everyone when associating an account, it will download all photos into FBContacts whether you associate the acount or not. You could then therefore copy the folder somewhere else, and then manually assign each picture to each Windows contact. I put it in DCIM\100MEDIA as this makes it quickes when adding to a contact.

Dutty's R7 did work - his newest "holy grail" doesn't.
try this: contact (htc app) -> edit (one of your FB contacts) -> tick the picture! (upper right corner)
for me the FB option is grayed out, strangely enough...although the account is associated????
HTC do not comply with Windows Mobile standard. With each upgraded version of its Manila the situation will get worse I think.

I noticed this also and I'm on XannyTech's 2.0c with Manila 2.5 - I wonder why all birthdays are all shifted by 1 day??
Any resolution?
Manila 2.5 has completely screwed my birthdays up. I'm using google calendar through the google-sync exchange thing. Every so often I get a message on the phone saying "A change on the server means all data needs to be re-synchronised". After that the birthdays get shifted by a day. It's happened a few times which means people have birthdays spanning 4 or 5 days now. Last time it happened about 20-30 birthdays and anniversary appointments appeared in my google calendar for today's date. No idea what is going on, but it's definitely shafted.

I think the only satisfactory answer will be for someone with official WM 6.5 and Manila 2.5 (any HD2 owner? ) to try it out and report the outcome.

I'll post this evening a thread in the Leo section. Hopefully someone is able to tell me if this strange behaviour also occurs on official Leo WM6.5 Manila 2.5 roms.
With NRGZ manila 2.5 roms all my birthdays where also messed up. So I switched to XannyTech rom 1.9b/2.0b and everything was fine. As far as I figured out the shifting problem with the birthday events, it seems that this behaviour has something to do with the timezone, which has not to be set on first boot on NRGZ roms.

Searching for people in HD7

I find that I can search in people for a person's first name or surname, but I cannot search, for example for a company. Does anyone have a way of doing this, or is this another shortcoming in Phone 7?

have you tried going into you contact and linking all the duplicates together. for instance if i have a contact in facebook AND my contacts, i have them linked together.
I've just gone through my contacts linking them and it sure as hell cleans them up.
I selected it so it only showed contacts from Facebook I have details for already on the phone too, then went and linked all of their accounts...
Have to say, very impressed with how it looks once you've done that. It will allow you to sync your LIVE contacts as well...
out of the box, it's messy but once it's configured it looks great.
What really annoys me is the fact it seems impossible to remove an email account with re-setting the phone, now that is a FAIL! - if anyone knows if it is possible, please do let me know!

I've cleaned up the list, however, I still have people on the list I don't really want.
1 ) I have my sim card contacts which I have linked facebook and hotmail with (perfect)
2) I have contacts from my hotmail contacts list which I dont want to show
On point 2. how do I remove Hotmail contacts from the people hub....I just dont want people from my HOTMAIL contact list appear. If you owned a HD2 , you would have the option to sync or not sync hotmail contacts which was PERFECT ! , on the WP7 OS you have no option unless you know how to resolve it

I cant find a way to do this either. You have the option to disable contact syncing for gmail, but when you go into the email and accounts settings for windows live, it only gives you the option to disable the syncing of email. I dont want my contact list full of s*** from windows live.

As far as I know, you cannot do this. The way Windows Phone 7 handles contact management is different than Windows Mobile 6.x. Windows Mobile 6.x and Windows Live (Hotmail) are separate components, so you could choose to not sync certain information if you wanted to (or remove Windows Live completely even).
Because Windows Live (Hotmail) is so tightly integrated with Windows Phone 7, it assumes that whatever Windows Live account you chose to apply to your WP7 device is your main account for your information (e-mail, contacts, calendar, etc.). So of course, because it assumes this, it's only natural that you'd want to always see and sync your contact list from Hotmail.
The only way around this at the moment would be to delete your contacts entirely from your current Windows Live account, or to link your phone with a new, empty Windows Live account that doesn't have any contact information (this would allow you to maintain your other account separately).
