Is this actually trying to be an iPhone? - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so, the new contact card....
where is the copy and paste?
*sigh*

PS... the IPhone hasn't got Copy and paste in case you're wondering on the subject... (though they're making an update to support it)

I think it's better cuz it has more features and a free, fully supported 6.5 update. Plus, I like WinMo more than Crap OSX.

TF3D2 is their effort to make windows mobile nice and easy, but you have to go to the old style contact editor to copy and paste...
click a contact, and click "edit contact". Try copy pasting....
so to move a number to a different contact.... (How is this an improvement?!?)
*open contact 1
*click edit contact (but you can't copy here, so ...)
*click more (now you're in the old style contact editor)
*Select number, and copy it.
*click ok on win contact editor
*exit contact
*open contact 2
*click edit contact (but you can't paste here, so ...)
*click more (now you're in the old style contact editor)
*Select right box, and past into it.
*click ok on win contact editor
*exit contact
The process should be
*open contact 1
*click edit contact
*Select number, and copy it.
*exit contact
*open contact 2
*click edit contact
*Select right box, and past into it.
*exit contact

Imagine that when HTC made their volume control, it would let you raise the volume, but not lower it, but you could open HTC volume control, click on "more" and then you opened windows default volume control, which let you lower the volume.
That's about how I see this, they replaced one of the main applications, and failed to implement it's full functionality, contact editing is a basic feature on any phone and should be done properly.

Switch to keyboard input method instead of full qwerty and you can use ctrl+c to copy and ctrl+v to paste. But just how often do you really need to copy a number from one contact to another one anyhow? Not as if its an everyday occurance, now is it?

Our office has changed the first part of the number 3 times this year. Thanks for pointing out the ctrl c thing, didn't know about that, was expecting to use the long press menu.
I'm happy with the phone mostly, just feel TF3D could have been better, and I'm missing the battery meter on the notifications screen and facebook contact integration (I had these on my touch pro that I had the vga port of TF3D2 on)

Yep, trying to be an iPhone

SMS roblem

Anyone knows how do i add multiple contacts in one go to a particular message
i.e. check recipients names and add them without pressing enter again and again
its really irritating to add 27 recipients
if you are sending to the same group of persons you can try this...
#click on the To: field, click menu (bottom right) and select Add Recipient...
#Contacts will open, select the person by clicking on it. it is added and you are back in the sms compose window. click Menu and add again all the recipients one by one like the steps above.
#once you are done adding all required contacts, click and hold inside the To: field and select Select All. all contacts are selected and highligted.
#click and hold again inside To: field and select Copy
#open Pocket Word or Notes, paste it and save the file.
#next time when you want to send a group message again, open the Word or Notes file we created, copy everything and close the file.
#compose you message, tap and hold inside the To: field and click on Paste. all your contacts should now be added at one go.
you can also try searching for third party contacts manager which allow creating a group and sending a message to that group in one go.
hope that this help.
Thank you very much
Install group sms
There is a software named Group sms. After installing it will appear at the bottom of the menu screen below the add recepient option. U can select it and then tick one by one the number of people u want to send it to and its done..... I hope this helped. Am attaching the cab file tooo.....

Surname first in SMS inbox?

Hello,
I am using HTC Diamond 2 for 3 months already. Recently i had restored from backup all my contacts and since then in Htc SMS all names start from First name then Surname. Before Surname was the first.
When i am creating new sms message and search for contact all of them are in Surname,Firstname form. But when i point one i need it is changing by itself to Firsname Surname.
Is there any settings or tweak to change this? I need Surname to be the first, it is more convenient for me.

I do not know how to do all contacts at once, but individually you can go to Windows (Not Manila) Contact manager and select a contact\edit\file as.

Thank you Bruce for reply.
No, this does not work. I already have all contacts in Contact Manager as Surname, Firstname. Same in HTC SMS when i browse for contact to create new sms.
The name's order changes by it self in a second, right after i had add it to new sms. Also i had tried to use Vito SMS chat and there is no such problem, in all names Surname are first one. So, i guess, it is problem with HTC SMS.
Any clue?
In htc people tab all people, select contact, edit contact, scroll to bottom, select more, on 2nd page click in the field "File as". You will need to do each contact individually.
Thanks Codehunter for reply, but your answer is basically the same as Bruce's ones. I had already all my contacts with FileAs field looks like Surname, Firstname and this does not help me.

[Q] [ASK] Remove separator

hi, i want to ask
is it possible to remove separator (minus '-' sign) in the z1's phonebook ?
i use to copy-paste numbers from phonebook to text message, but i need that numbers without separator. Of course i can edit it in text message, but if i copy paste a lot of contacts i will need alot of time to delete those separator sign.
maybe you suggest to sent the vcl files, but all i need is sent it via text message. since i need to add some text to it.
Thanks
by the way are there application that add the menu 'insert number' just like old nokia phone, because i think copy paste from phonebook is so unefficient

Hmm... Not really the easy solution you're looking for, but you could try to reformat all your contacts to remove the -'s. I've done this before by using contacts.Google.com to export my contacts to a csv, open in excel, make mass edits excel, delete the contacts from Google then upload the new csv to Google contacts to repopulate them. Isn't the most elegant solution though...

..btw ..even if there is a - between numbers the phone will dial them correctly and you will not have any problems. I think it just a matter of how they look.
@eclyptos : its not for dial, consider i sent text to kind of bot/machine. So i need specific format which is no separator
