Neon 200 & Specific Windows Mobile - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus Accessories

Hi there,
I have quite a few of the HTC Touch Dual 850's aka Neon 200.
The problem I have is that I need a very specific version of Windows Mobile 6.1. Version. 5.2.20764 (build 20764.1.4.3).
Can anyone help with supplying this so that I might be able to make a rom for the Neon 200.
This is to sort out a security issue with RSA authentication not working which is in fact a MS problem resolved in this build as well as version 6.5 onwards.
Thanks

Diamond Native Direct3D Development

hello,
I am the owner of an HTC Touch Diamond device (UK) with original
-ROM version: 1.37.405.1 WWE,
-Radio version: 1.00.25.03,
-Protocol version 52.26a.25.09U
I have been trying to compile the native C++ Direct3D samples from WM5 and WM6 SDKs, but I am finding problems. Specifically, I am trying to check the accelerated HW drivers, by running these samples. If I have understood correctly, D3DM runs over OpenGL ES, in such devices. The managed wrapper example provided in http://www.koushikdutta.com/search/label/Managed OpenGL ES, works perfectly, which means that 3D is supported by my device and ROM versions.
Initially, the problem was with the CreateDevice() D3DM function, but with the help of 'omikr0n' found in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359534&page=201, this function returns now successfully. I have to note that the lights.exe sample, by 'omikr0n', runs flawlessly.
After making those changes in every sample application, the result that I get is a transparent screen and after that the application freezes. In more detail, in the first sample, where a colored screen has to appear, I get nothing, even though the application is running. I run it in Debugging mode, but I cannot pinpoint where the problem comes from, as all functions are executed successfully.
Can you please help me resolve this issue, by informing me if there is a problem with my code or the ROM versions of my device. If it is the code, can you explain what has to change? Also, do the new official ROMs by HTC include better drivers? I would be glad, If I could avoid upgrading ROM, but if this is the case, I will have to do it.
Many thanks to all 3D enthusiasts.
Have you seen this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415873
Maybe better to ask there.
hello,
In the thread that you mentioned, the author uses OpenGL ES instead of Direct3D Mobile and Managed (C#) instead of Native (C++) code. Although it is a breakthrough, these are not the requirements of my project.
I am looking for the specific programming parameters. which D3DM structures need in order to produce a visual result on the screen. After making the WM5/6 samples work, I can continue with more specific developmental issues.
Thanks
if it's under Managed Direct3D then ms stoped that platform to only focus on XDN
everybody who were using it on pc all moved to the new ms horse or do pure opengl from .net
hello Rudegar,
The samples are writen in C++, but the problem is in execution time because they do not produce the expected result and freeze. I believe that there have been several implementations (eg. lights.exe from omikr0n), which use specific parameters that allow to run successfully. I am trying to find, which are those parameters.
What is XDN that you mentioned?
I'm sorry, but I probably won't be too much of a help here. Lights.exe application is written in .NET (managed code) in D3DM. AFAIK D3DM is quite different for managed and unmanaged applications.
sorry ment xna

Windows Mobile 6.5 MIGHT be available for Diamond!

Upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.5: We know of a few phones that will be upgradable from 6.1 to 6.5, and Microsoft is clarifying this position a little. Mainly in that if they meet a minimum hardware standard — 128MB RAM, 400 MHz processor — they may be available for an upgrade. But that's still up to the partners (read: Manufacturers/carriers) to choose to do so.

It would be AWESOME if we can upgrade to windows mobile 6.5, and so be able to use marketplace. We need 128MB RAM and 400MHZ processor, which means our Diamond should be suitable for 6.5!
Doubt it, but unofficially; yes we will get 6.5 on our phones. But we will not thank HTC for that.
Well yes, ofcourse we will be able to receive 6.5.
But i hope HTC will make it official for Diamond users. But i dont think that will happen...
I hope so too, but let's be honest: if it wasn't for the good folks here at xda-devs, our phones would be pretty mediocre. So I don't see it happening officially. But I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.
The Touch Diamond does not conform to the WM 6.5 specs, HTC are not allowed to release it for the Diamond.
Perhaps we should start an online petition to get HTC to bring WM6.5 to the Touch Diamond officially.
Windows Mobile 6.5 MIGHT be available for Diamond!
Yes it will be.. but some advanced featured will be unavailable..

which features do you mean?
I thought no hardware Start key = No WM 6.5?
Funny that the previous generation phones had hardware Start/OK then they stopped putting them on after the iPhone came out.

It is handy to have the Start Key but that is not a showstopper. Having said that I do miss the many hardware buttons that were available back in the days of Hermes.
I believe the MS home key is required to allow htc to put wm6.5 on their devices. So I don't think there will be any official upgrade for the diamond or any phone that doesn't have this key. Also MS wants to change the name 'smartphone' to windows mobile phone :S Don't think this applies to the Diamond though but still..
What I'm still wondering is if tf3d2 will be available on the HTC update of wm6.5 on the diamond2..
this would be awesome to have 6.5 on my phone

I heard this too, but then practically no phones would be able to upgrade, and wouldn't the dude in the quote at the start have mentioned that?
Diamond and WM 6.5
I think any hardware key can be set as Windows Key, it's simply a software setting; it needs only mapping it in the ROM.
The new phones is coming with full touch screen, Microsoft is very stupid to pretend a special hardware key!!!!!

Applications FOR HTC Viva

Hi Friends,
I have few questions to ask, can anybody tell me the answers?
1) I have installed around 10 applications on my HTV viva which were build for pocket pc, but out of them only 1-2 are working properly. so where i can get the applications which are supported for HTC viva.
2) HTC viva windows mobile 6.1 OS looks dull compare to windows mobile 6.5 OS. Why we can not upgrate our OS to 6.5? Even Android OS?
3) I was trying to install throttle launcher on Viva, n i was successful also but it is very slow, so i decided to use Manila 2d only. Do you know any throttle launcher compatible for HTC Viva?
Thanks
Bro what u r saying we can easily upgrade to wm 6.5 rom check opal rom development section and u know we are currently using wm 6.5.1 rom which are advanced also wm 6.5.3 soon coming

CE and WinMo Devices

Morning all,
I've got my hands on something for testing but I just gone and confused myself between CE and WinMo...
Has anyone here heard of Maplins MID? (It's not a phone, just a Mobile Internet Device using WiFi) It's correct / device id is A10JQ MID and can be found on google for full specs... only costs £70 though.
My question to pose to all the brains on XDA Developers: What can be done to upgrade a device like this?
It comes with some reasonable features, but is no where near as powerful as a decent WinMo phone like my HTC Touch. I have developed some stupid little apps using .NET and despite getting .NET CF to install on the device, it still won't run the .NET mobile apps.
Is there somewhere I can look at information for ripping / modifying the ROM like I do with my phone?
Specs-wise, it's very similar to the HTC Magician (M500) but with a better screen (it has the same SIP/Keyboard). Obviously there's no GSM hardware but that seems to make the device quicker to operate.
The WiFi may have been an after thought; there's an expansion slot for SD-Cards which I am using for storage, however there is no other visible slot, yet the WiFi is powered by a SD-IO card (presumably internal). The annoying part is that the WiFi is switched off by default, and there's a fumbled routine for switching it back on using the device's 'custom' menu system. Windows CE has it's own controls to do this but there's no menus. (Think parents trying to use this thing).
Any thoughts you guys have would be appreciated. Has anyone else got one yet and found what's compatible / or not?
Thanks,
I have heard of it.
Is it win ce core?
It wont run many apps
flyboy
CE Core?
It's definitely not as good as the 6.5 ROM on my touch hd, but whats confusing me is that some of the pieces of software on there are much more advanced than the older CE devices that I've got. The system properties say:
- Microsoft Windows CE Version 5.00 (Build 1400)
- Processor Type: Telechips, ARM926-TCC79X
It's got plenty of RAM for a mobile internet browser, and browses the Internet quicker than my touch hd... well it brings the pages up quicker! It has no flash video support but uses core player to allow some access to you tube.
I read up mostly on developing my devices using .NET - from what I got; Windows Mobile is a 'fork' version of CE developed mainly with mobile GSM/Wireless devices in mind, but is compatible with CE applications. The compatibility implications are mostly to do with form-factors (layout). But I've found that I can't even get Total Commander to work!
I would just like to update to something more compatible / customisable... I suppose that's just the developer in me?
erm...
windows mobile is based on ce.
Is it that you want to run different apps on the device?
flyboy
Hy!
I think its an normal Windows CE like it runs on thousends of PNA devices.....the only Diffrerence is that the Mapplin is "DesktopFree" by default....( you can also make every WinCE PNA "DesktopFree" )......
So in Google you can find a lot of Software (Apps) for Windows CE......
MFG
Wwesome price for a device like this, i wish they sold it here
