How to Uninstall Opera On Htc Diamond?? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hey guys my Device Storage memory is 88 mb and out of that free is just 15 mb.
I installed only
1) Slide to anwer dialer
2) S2U2
3) .Net Framework
on my device memory rest is all on internal storage.
I have come to know that opera uses around 8-10 mb of storage space. So i want to uninstall it.
But its not there in add and remove programs.
please let me know how to remove Opera.
Also let me know if any other software to be removed to free up the space. Like voice commander (this is also not there in add and remove programs)
Regards,
Vishal

Remove Opera?
If it doesn't show up in 'Remove Programs', it's installed in the ROM which means you can't remove it. The best thing to do if you want loads of storage is to install a 'lite' ROM. That way you can install only the apps you use

i have the original rom from the htc page! give it no solution to deinstall the opera browser, if is no opera browser entry in the program list to shown?
in the windows folder on the integrated storage not found an opera folder, also.
plz help me..
sorry for my bad english.. i hope every guys understand my problem..

you can't remove opera
opera is put in the core os which is placed in a
place where users can't access the storage
so even if one makes a rom without opera
it don't free up storage for users access
it's impossible to remove opera unless you cook your own rom from scratch
if you don't like opera don't use it
and
set the browser you like as std browser
then opera will not bother you as even if you could delete it
it would not give you more storage mem

hi folks
my current issue is slightly different
i've installed opera mini 5 which is great for my needs, however i have various RSS feeds going and if i click on links they will open in opera 4, not 5.
how do i therefore set opera mini 5 to be the default browser?
plus if anyone knows how to get rid of the annoying opera 5 prompt which asks me if i'm happy about the fact that i may be charged for accessing the web, then i'd be very pleased to know it.
thanks in advance from scrumpypaul

Well I only saw that once since I installed the version with all certificates... Try installing the all certificates version and you'll get rid of all the promts

which version did you install?
i downloaded directly to my diamond and saw nothing about certificates.

Why Opera?

I have Opera on my Kaiser. 26 days to go for free.
But I have problems being motivated to buy the version.
Anybody an opinion?
Have no problems with IE till now. But maybe I am missing some important features.
Huib
Have you tried "Opera Mini" ?
If not, try it, you will never go back to IE
It is super fast, very compact, and works, also with that neat zoom/unzoom!.
Again, the browsing and rendering speed of Opera Mini is superb.
Drag and scroll.
Highlight and copy text
Save images
Successfully renders web pages more frequently than does the IE - IMHO

Try scrolling down a long page with PIE and you will know why Opera Mini is better. PIE almost grinds to a halt after the first screen or two has scrolled up.
EDIT: Update to above entry. PIE now has a fix for scrolling issue - downloadable here: IE Slow Scroll Fix for Kaiser_Tilt.cab

Gotcha!
Tested them both with a longer page and the difference is clear.
Thanks for your input.

Hi!
can Opera-mini and other apps be run from the memory card satisfactorily?
i.e are they slower?
I wonder if my other applications such as Resco Explorer 2007 and Code Wallter can be run from the card too?
Ofiaich
Don't take what I say as gospel but when I had Opera installed on the SD card it didn't function completely correct - like didn't follow email links correctly along with a couple of other glitches etc.
Likewise I have always been a bit hesitant to install things that operate so cloely with the OS, like Resco Explorer, to the card. They have always seemd to work much better on the main memory. Just my opinion.
Thus I have Opera mini and Resco Explorer installed on the main memory while just about everything else I have on the SD card.
jcrompton!
Thanks very much! Sounds good to me, and I have space in the main memory!
I will get on and download Opera mini !

Opera Can Handle Regular Youtube!
Please Dont quote me on this, but if i am correct, Opera (paid version, not mini) can render many types of complicated flash websites including Youtube(Yes the regular one not youtube mobile). I say this because i tested it for myself, a while ago on my mda vario or vario 2 (sorry cant remember). What seemed to be a slight problem though was, it ran out of memory frequently (ram) and as such the program would not start if other applications were running in the background.
Opera users on WM6, your reviews and thoughts on this are much appreciated!

OK - so I just figured out how to get Opera Mini work via the Java app under programs -- have you been able to get email links and other http links to automatically be opened by Opera Mini - I made some registry changes to get Opera Mobile to be the default browser, can you get Opera Mini to do that ? (wasn't sure since it is buried as a Java program)

Well you asked for it. I am going to have to quote you. Youtube does not work on my 8925 in Opera, neither the moble specific version (says media file type not supported) nor the full youtube site. Ugh.
I agree that you wouldn't really want to use Opera Mini on the Kaiser....Opera Mobile though is the bomb! I just wish it was free like the Mini version is, but it's good enough to pay for anyway. PIE just is not very good at rendering most webpages.
opera is very good browser but the built in pie some times show websites better than opera example http:\\www.xda-developers.com

I don't agree , it's superbly fast, it's free and it has good viewing settings. For straightforward surfing it's fine. I say give it a try you may be surprised.

Does opera support flash videos?

I just hit YouTube with Opera on mine and any 'watch now' links open the video for streaming in WMP. Is that normal?

Refresh Remove Programs list???

Guys, I have an odd problem - can someone advise?
I just upgraded to the new Dutch 6.1 ROM and also installed Opera 9.5. Firstly, I have to say that these two moves have completely transformed the Kaiser - the new Opera is spot on. (only small problem I can see is the TCMPM no longer works)
Problem is that my Remove Programs list now contains just Resco Backup and Oper 9.5. I have tons of now useless software on the device, but it isn't showing up. I guess this might be because I reinstalled everything via Resco Backup, rather than installing the individual files. Is there a way to refresh the list of installed programs so that I can go through uninstalling them?
You will need to reinstall every one of the programs first then uninstall...
This might be a pain but its safest way!
good thinking - clumsy, but it works. thanks

opera

on diamond is installed opera we know and in tf3dthe default browser is opera.
now i've downloaded opera 9.51beta. it works well but in tf3d the old browser still remain. is there a possibility to substitute or delete old opera v.1184 with the new one?
sorry for my question in "orrible english".
Actually i've been wondering the same thing, will Opera on diamond ever get an update because i know some rendering problems exist in 9.5 op diamond, that are fixed in the new beta.
Same goes for google maps, will it ever get updated?
sorry no way?
there's no way to do that possible? make new opera beta default in tf3d?

The problem lies in the fact that the default opera is installed in the windows folder, and thenew one from the opera site in program files.
what you need to do is copy all the files from the folder "opera 9.5" in program files to the windows folder, overwrite the old files and you,,re ready.

opera 9.6 as default browser

i think i may have a stupid question but ive really looked everywhere for the solution and cant find anything!
the problem is:
on my topaz (original rom etc) i installed opera mobile 9.7b just to try it out, didn't work wit the zoombar and G-sensor so i just unstalled it. but now when i open a link in e.g. an e-mail i get IE instead of opera 9.6 (the original delivered with the topaz).
i've looked every little file on my phone but i can't find where i can put the old opera back to default! anybody here maybe can help..
or... is it possible to integrate opera 9.7beta into the topaz, so i can use the zoombar and the tilt function when i'm browsing, and acces true the internet button on my touchflo 3d?
I like the new opera but it isn't really working for 100% integrated on my phone so the old one is better to use for me

Vario III/Kaiser - Quick Question - Plz see my last post

Hi guys,
My dad's handed me his Vario III / (Kaiser 120) to use.
I did a reset using the option in 'SETTINGS' to reset it and lose all date. Now, when I start it up, it looks like new and the time/date has to be set. All my dad's contacts have gone. Cool. - 1. Was this a Hard-Reset ?
I went to something like SETTINGS > INFO and got this:
Radio Vers 1.70.18.02
ROM DATE 9/01/08
ROM Vers. 3.31.110.3 WWE
Build 19212.1.03
When I start it up, it says Windows Mobile v6.1
A couple years ago, I loaded tomtom navigator on it for my dad. It was really good with the internal gps.
Anyway, now that I have the phone, I'd like to install tomtom navigator on it, use the camera (maybe 10 photos a week) and upload pics to my PC, and browse the internet (email, twitter etc.) from time to time. Also, I'd use the handset to connect via bluetooth to my laptop so I can use it for internet (in emergencies, as it is kinda slow). I also text (3-5 texts a day)
I also downloaded an app called Shazam.cab from a site called mobilism, which I would love to use as I have seen it on my lucky friend's iPhone and the app is awesome!
2. Apart from the usb cable, and active sync on my pc, do i need anything else to install shazam on my phone/micro sd card?
3. I assume a ROM means operating system? Like windows xp, 7 etc.
I see that people are putting new ROMs on their phone. My phone has
Storage Free Space: 121MB and Programs Free 55MB. There isn't a lot of 'bloatware' hogging up resources on there, as far as i can see.
4. Do I need to install a custom ROM now that you know my uses (in blue font above) for the phone? / do I need to flash it? I.e. will a new ROM/flash make my life a lot easier? Better to convert to android system? Will I need to do any of these things to install shazam?
I was goin to do this on the weekend so I can use other sims in my phone:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334679
fingers crossed it goes ok.
Can you please help?
Thank you
Sonny
ps. I may need to ask a couple more questions after this. Once again thank you for your help. If anyone needs advice on cameras, please let me know as I am a regular contributor to a photography forum.
1. Yes, it was HARD-Reset (removes all settings, contacts, messages, ...). It doesn't do anything to the MicroSD card.
2. I don't know anything about that. Sorry!
3. Yes, ROM means operating system. There are stock ROMs and modified ROMs. For Kaiser (a.k.a. HTC TyTN II) you'll find only stock Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM and lots of modified WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 ROMs. There's no stock WM 6.5 ROM for Kaiser.
4. Android is not stable enough. Sometimes it crashes, doesn't wake up and so on... All your mentioned things can be done with both WM 6.1 and 6.5, so it's for you to decide what to use. WM 6.1 looks a little bit old and terrible, but it uses less resources than WM 6.5 which looks a little bit... like system that was made to be similar to iPhone OS. Yes, WM 6.5 is more finger-friendly, but the applications grid drives me crazy, it uses more resources (and loves draining the battery)
Thank you very much for taking the time to post. I found it really useful.
I stuck with original HTC ROM with 6.1 and I am loving it. Shazam works wonderfully well. The phone is so damn sharp. And, using 2 apps at once is brilliant.
Does anyone know if I can put more icons/apps on the TODAY SCREEN?
At the moment, I am only allowed to put 6 in the start menu screen, and 1 (tom tom) on the today screen.
My Start menu has: 1 File explorer, 2 organiser (i use the calculator a lot), 3 internet explorer, 4 MS word (for my notes), 5 shazam (use a lot), 6 Resco photo manager (for uploading to FlickR)
I'd like to add 2 more apps (wunder radio + core player) somewhere with quick access.
Any ideas?
Thank you
Try copying applications links (.lnk files) from \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ to \Windows\Start Menu\
I'm not sure if it's going to work with Windows Mobile 6.1, but it's safe to try
