Instructions:

- When the device is turned off press simultaenously the volume down button + Power button
- Your device will startup in Bootloader mode
Have Fun!

[Q] Update / Recovery mode not working

Hello!
I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S ( Austria A1 branded)
* My goal is to update to "android 2.2". (with odin...)
First problem:
Im pressing the home, volume up (also tried it with down) and the power on button, but the device boots with the usally "A1 welcome animation".
Has someone any idea ?
try down arrow (vol down) with home button.. then press power on button.. when you see first screen take finger off power button.. count to 1-1000 then re-press power button ( all other buttons are held all during this).

Make sure you read the entire thread before trying any of that, as it might brick your A1 branded phone.

is there any way to format it with out it working .... please any help .

Don't worry, your device is not damaged. Follow the guide here to fix your problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=685025
Note that you'll lose all data on your device when performing this fix. Hope you have a backup at hand!
Essential thing to be known:-
1. Bootloader mode Knowing how to enter into Bootloader mode is one of the most essential thing to be known for a opal user (windows mobile users).
How to enter?
There are two way to enter into bootloader mode.
1. If you device is on, open your device's back cover. Press the soft reset button ( red button ) using stylus. As soon as you press it, immediately press the volume down button and keep holding it until you see a tri-color screen on your device's screen.
2. If your device is off, press the power button as soon as the device vibrates immediately press volume down button and keep holding it until you see a tri-color screen on your device's screen.
Uses?
If you flashed a damaged rom, you would be no longer able to use your device. In that case enter into bootloader mode. And flash a different rom.

Anyway to force shutdown the phone

I just flash a new firmware and TWRP touchscreen is not responding.
Is there anyway i could force shut down the phone?
I have already tried the following:
- adb reboot bootloader
Got an error device not found
- hold down power button for more than 10sec
- hold down both power button and vol button for more than 10sec

[Q] Power button doesn't work in fast-/hboot

Hey,
the power button of my HTC one is working in my normal android but not I the hboot menu/fastboot menu. I can't unlock my device because I habe to confirm it using the power button.
Edit: I can use it to force the phone in the HBOOT menu to shutdown by pressing it for 20 seconds.
Thx

Trying to hard reset my xt1068 kitkat phone, didn't show dead android guy at all.

My phone was frozen when I was taking a video,
then I forced restart the phone by pressing power button until it restarted.
However, my phone stuck at the android logo for a quite long time with the screen on, so I decided to do a factory reset.
I have tried the following steps on my friend's phone as we bought exactly same phone,
and succeded at first attempt.
1, volume down + power button goes into boot options.
2, then android logo, then about 2 seconds later, dead android guy would appear.
HERE is my phone's problem:
in this step after showing android logo, my phone would vibrate once and then just gone black, just like turning off. NO DEAD ANDROID GUY showed up. Certainly would not be able to do the rest steps.
I have searched and tried so many methods that others used when they could not get into the bootloader. NONE of them succeded.
So I need help, guys.
Anyone got any ideas.
Thanks in advanced !!!
no one ?
I guess I had to bring it to the store for repairing.

1. power button + volume(down) button
then in bootloader menu:
2. volume(down) button to goto down to 'recovery'
3. volume(up) button for selecting it
Alternative I would try this:
power button + volume(down) button
then in bootloader menu stay here connect usb and use fastboot on pc.
fastboot flashall factoryImage ????
