Problems with musicplayer! - Touch Diamond2, Pure Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got the topaz
Doing what I normally do, I wanted to put some music on the thing.
I transferred a folder of mp3s to the device, and at the same time I deleted the two songs already there.
Now the player wont play!
It just says 'searching....'
When I go into the 'library' (softbutton on the lefthand side) - it shows the titles of the two songs I deleted. There is a speaker next to the first of them.
Looking around inside the library - I find the folder that I transferred myself, but I can't see the two songs I deleted.
There is apparently no way to remove the two dead entries - and the TouchFLO player seems to be operating under the delusion that if it keeps on searching the two deleted songs WILL be found.
Any way to remedy this apparent deadlock (besides hardresetting the thing)?

Can you put the two files back? Even if you no longer have them, you could rename a couple of files to match. That might get you up and running again and you can try and delete them from the library then.

That's a good idea!
I spoke to HTC Support, and their suggestion was to find a metadata folder for WMplayer - but we couldn't find it - it wasn't were it was on their device. I don't know it's name, but it was to be located in the very root, or maybe the root of the storagecard (haven't got one yet). So he promised to check it out and get back to me.
Meanwhile I hardreset the device, since I only just got it, I wouldn't lose anything anyhow.
But if the problem IS some metadata that doesn't seem to be deleted, maybe your suggestion would have worked

i had the problem on my phone, i duno what exactly fixed it but i put more music on and soft reset the phone so one of them might've fixed the issue

ringtones

So I looked inside the old backups and found that \Windows\Rings had always had only one file, RINGTONE 2. Thus, with ROM 1.06, I was getting the rest automagically from somewhere else... And with 1.42_112 I don't see them anymore -- although the list is still the same in Phone preferences, and shows OldPhone which I had before, along with Terrestrial, Mystic, RoaringGuitar, etc., -- which are no longer there. Can someone pls point out where those used to be found, and where do they come from? A little zip will go a long way, too.

CD Cover

Hi,
I copies all my music to internal\music\"CD_title" as mp3 files
in each folder there is the cover as a jpg file
I never get touchflo to show all cd covers one after another in a scrolable way.
It only shows ONE cd cover.
When I go to library, I see all uploaded cds, here I can pick a new one to listen to. The cover then is shown but always one at a time.
I read lots of messages but still can't find a way to solve this issue.
All help is welcome
Thank you all
when you go to library, do you choose for 'all songs' first? If you choose that one it should show all covers in the player.
After reading your post not sure how you did organize your files, I have all mp3's in one folder on the diamond, not in separate folders per cd or artist.
Besides that, what I've found out also, if the album or track titles contains special characters like ":" or ">" then the album art won't show for that particular song. I replaced them with "-" and all is fine now.
makes no difference.... even if I choose "all songs", all I get is 1 cover...

hmmm, putting all mp3's in one folder and see how it goes then? When you select all songs, then tap on one song in that list, it should now go to the 'main; screen again, still only shows one cover?
And with one song you mean it also doesn't shhow the 'covers' with questionmarks in it?

I stored all my mp3 files into the \internal\music folder
Did a soft reset
go to "music" -tab
get: searching
get: "nothing found"
go to library: all files with correct covers are shown
choose "all songs"
go back to the main screen...
get: "nothing found"

What happens when you select a track in the 'all songs' library to play it?
Hi
earlier i had the same problem!
then i tried media monkey because it allows you to auto tag your mp3 files from internet.
i copy all mp3 in an extra folder on my pc, start mediamonkey and begin to tag all selected mp3 files with albumcovers , songname etc. after copy the files to my diamond all covers were shown correct in tf3d !
greetings
mr moe
I'm making progress now...
Now I get cd covers, with 2, then another cover of the same cd with 4 tracks.
I can not find any difference in the tag..
I used the suggested media monkey..
What's next
JP
seems the covers are sorted by song and not by album...
If I can sort this out, I think my problem is solved.
Please.... HELP!!!! final step is so near now!
JP
Guys... please do read everything I write... you simply won't find a better source of info on a given subject than those articles... see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=415063 , it answers ALL your questions.
all that is left is to know the way to sort my mp3-files by album or artist...

Nobody for this final question?

this has also been answered by my bible. On the Diamond alone, you can't, unless you use either Pocket Player on CorePlayer. Both of these players here far better sorting capabilities than WMP
Do I need the WMP even if I use the default rouchFlo music player... the one that opens when you are on the correct tab... you know what I mean
Unsure why, but having had a few wm handsets this has never bothered me showing cd art, but this has really annoyed me on this one i think before it's just worked ! anyhow eventually sorted this for myself - none of the guides on here helped to be honest my solution is this..
The jpg must be named accordingly:
htc_"album name".jpg
Appears that the album name must be exactly as in the id3 tag and is case sensitive.
Hope this helps as it's been annoying me all morning.

Diamond Music Tab - Deleted Music Still Listed in Library

Hi guys,
Ive had a good search and cannot find anything about this problem.
On the music tab of my diamond it lists all of my music when I go into the Library option, only problem being that it is still listing items ive deleted. The library mark these files with an exclamation mark so knows they are not there, but I cannot find out how to remove them from the library list. The player will also still attempt to play them, but just skips straight past them.
Anyone got any ideas how I can make the library update to remove these files?
Thanks for any advice
go to \app data\HTC\AudioManager rename the AudioManager_Eng.vol file. Softreset and it will refresh the library and create a new AudioManager_Eng.vol file, you can then delete the old one you created.
Not sure if there's a simpler way around it.
Typical, had another search around the phoen and it turns out you just delete a file.
For anyone thats interested
Start/File Explorer/Application Data/HTC/AudioManager/Delete the AudioManager_Eng.vol file

Xperia X2 ringtones missing

I have my SEXperia X2 for almost 5 days and I am almost ready to throw it at the can-first I had a major unequal battle with the sms vibration and thx god after installing some sony-ericsson software update I raised the victory flag...but it was just a short break...today I heard some strange noise coming from my phone and when I reached it....it was ringing with some strange ringtone....I tried to put some of my old ones but what did I found no sounds in my ringtones folder at my card I tried to put some mp3's but no it is not possible, when I try to put a file there it rejects me,when I enter the folder is empty,at least I managed to put an mp3 as a ringtone from my music folder but it makes a copy to the phone memory and decrease it.So I am wondering does anybody had the same problem and what I must do to find my files or to relate files from my mp3's without sexperia to make copies of them at the phone memory?
I am sorry for the strange story and probably I should post this somewhere else but I didn't find any related topics after an hour of searching

AFAIK you have to put ringtones to phone's memory to make
it available for ringtones.
yeah I know that,at the beginning before the update(from the official SE page) all of the ringtones were at the my ringtones folder at the phone memory, but after it all of my ringtones were moved at the storage card at a folder named "my ringtones" and that was great because the phone mem remains less occupied and I was very happy with that and I paste a few songs there and they rang as my contacts and phone melodies but than just in a sudden they disappeared from there and the folder is useless at the moment.
sounds strange. normally when you update it completely wipes your phone and internal memory and starts from scratch. so all of your personal info and ringtones should of been lost. seems that you where lucky they randomly appeared on your memory card.
i found that if i put mp3s into the my ringtones folder on the phone memory nothing came up in the sounds and notifications settings at first. if i used the spb panel and selected contacts i could set the ringtone from the storage card straight away. i went back into the sounds and notifications settings and they had finally appeared in there too.lol. maybe the spb setting is better at searching or something.
no idea why your folder would suddenly wipe itself though. youll just have to try and copy your mps3 back in there and see if they work again... if they dont appear straight away try resetting your phone. it might only scan the storage card at certain times. mine are in "storagecard\my documents\my ringtones" theyre still mp3s and dont appear to be converted in anyway... maybe try deleting the my ringtones folder and creating a new one. it might of got corrupted...
theres an update due in march so hopefully if they do dissapear again its something that will be fixed in a few weeks.
The situation is unclear
how the ringtones appeared on phones memory folder before:
moved by the user or were there by default.
Standard SE upgrade means wiping off the personal data
but loading all the corporate default material
like videos, music and rjngtones too.
Try to see what choice you have in ringtones settings.
I finally came to a solution after playing with my phone till 2 am last night,I erased the folder named my ringtones at the storage card because it was inaccessible then I made a new one with the same name then I put some mp3 there and now they are still there and I can mark them as a contact ring tones even, but after a while today I found that my ringtone was changes again with some other melodie(all other mp3 were there this time but the one with which the phone was ringing was changed, but was still at the folder )-of course some ugly default se ringtone and after poking awhile I reached to an answer:I have some program called modaco-nodata that is installed at my phone card and this program blocks the gprs traffic,so when the blocking is on it blocks some folders and make them inaccessible.First it was on my storage card and it blocked the access to windows folder there, now I've put it at the phone memory and it blocked my "my device/windows" folder now I am going to remove it from the phone and I will see the result-than I will give a feedback if it was the reason of all that strange behaviour of my Xperia.
Thank you for the ideas
Hi! It happened the same to me!!! I lost almost all the ringtones that came with the phone!!!! What can I do? How did you manage the problem definitely?
Is it possible to get all the old ringtones?
Thanks

[Q] Struggling to sync one particular song through Zune

Hi guys,
Really confusing error for me: i want to sync an album to my phone, an HD7 running Deepshining, and the entire album will copy EXCEPT ONE SONG. In Zune on my laptop it says the song is on my phone, but my phone doesn't show it up - i'm tearing my hair out.
To put it into detail, i'm trying to sync Alex Clare's 'The Lateness of The Hour' onto my phone. I didn't buy it through the Zune marketplace, i just imported in the MP3s. It all copied fine first time round, but a few days later i noticed the song 'Too Close' (the one off of the IE9 ad) wasn't on my phone anymore. Zune on my laptop however, tells me it's there.
This was really irritating as it's my favourite song and i've done all sorts. All of the other tracks are there. I've tried loading the songs back on to my phone after deleting them, but that didn't work. I've tried removing it from my collection in Zune to re-add it, i've tried deleting the individual song, i've restarted Zune on my laptop a million times, i've even rebooted my phone.
Does anybody have any ideas as to how to get this one song on my phone? My laptop tells me it's there, just my phone doesn't. One thing i've not tried is wiping my entire music collection, but i'm really loathed to wipe 12GB of music to put it all back on, i only did it last week.
What is there to do?
Crap, thought i'd put this in Q&A! Sorry guys
try to open song in sound editor and save it...
