Waze Alpha! Now Available! - G1 Apps and Games

Waze: Driver-Generated Live Maps and Real-Time Road Information. Free.
"There are plenty of social, web, and technology tools to help you with your commute. Whether you have a TomTom or constantly whip out your iPhone, you can find driving directions, locations, general traffic information, and even speed traps.
However, what Waze is aiming to do is far more ambitious. This mobile app, which uses crowdsourcing to create driver-generated maps, is expanding out of Israel and is launching today in the U.S. With it is a technology that gathers information on driving patterns, traffic, accidents, police traps, and more and analyzes it in order to inform the driver of the best possible route available."

I do love it though, the UI is freakin sweet.

Thinking Space : Preview of new Mind Mapping app for Android

Hi,
Here's a special XDA preview of my entry for ADC2: Thinking Space
Thinking Space is a Mind Mapping application for Android.
Features include basic compatibility with Freemind (http://freemind.sourceforge.net) and XMind (via Freemind import/export)
Heres a image export from the application, which helps to explain its purpose:

If you are in to Mind Mapping, I would very much appreciate any feedback you have at the moment.
It's been a massive challenge to get this to where it is now in the couple of months since the Android Developers Challenge 2 was announced, so some bits are still a bit rough around the edges, but overall it's quite complete now.
The Cloud support is very basic at the moment, however I hope to have a web frontend soon that will allow you to download your maps and also upload new revisions from your PC.
Thinking Space is freeware, I may even open source it once I've had the oppurtunity to tidy the source up abit!
Edit:
Now on Android market:

Works wonderfully. Thank you!
Wow, this looks super and exactly what I've been searching for!!
Thank you very much!
cloudify mind map
is a great application! I use it every day since I know the app.
but I have a question about the publication in the cloud.
in which service of google publish your mind map?? in Google Docs??
thx!!!
Hi,
The cloud function uses Google App Engine to the store the maps online.
I've done an update for Droid and Tattoo screens users.
If anyone has a Droid, and particulary a Tattoo, I'd be really interested in hearing any feedback you have!
Any UK devs going to Android Labs on the 19th November?
great app
works great. Thank you
I use the programme for some time and I think it is one of the most beautifully crafted apps.
It is just GREAT!
but where do i find online my maps?
Is there any way to download file
Hello,

Downloaded also. Is it just me, or does it kinda...suck? I can't even figure out how to search for a friend.
its version 1.0 im pretty sure there will be plenty of updates to catch up to other facebook apps
relax!
its finallly here!
i like it so far!
I dont know why but I always havr FC when trying to launch the app.
Anyone else haveing the same issue?
i like it, great start. widget is bit ugly, they could do to mimick the sense ui twitter widget. but im happy
It's funtional. It is a shame you can't view galleries or search for people, but it's a good start.
The Facebook Live Contacts Folder integration is awesome! It's a shame it's limited to 125 people and you can't search.
**EDIT** Also, has anyone uploaded a photo yet? Is it incredibly small?
This is NOT developed by Facebook. Click to view the developers link and it goes to a Facebook page that says "this application was not developed by Facebook"
gonna stick to bloo for a little while longer..
After reading as much info as I could find about the app, it seems Google was behind developing it but they were given access to the API's by Facebook. I was able to sign in without having to give the program special permissions, so even if it isn't developed by Facebook, it seems to be closely tied to Facebook. I guess this is as "official" of an app as we are going to get.
It's an OK start but really needs search capability...
I'm glad I can comment on feed updates - that was sorely missing on the x.facebook.com or iphone.facebook.com web apps.
As far as 1.0 releases are concerned it's pretty damn solid.

touche. be it as it may, this app is definitely streamlined and to the point. i wish it had a little more functionality, but this is definitely a SOLID base to build upon

c'mon the widget isnt that bad but i agree they should take some pointers from the htc developers
Good Lord people. Stop comparing this to the Facebook app on Hero. We will never see that level of integration on a Google build. Never. The only reason you saw it was because HTC built the contacts and dialer apks from the ground up. Google is not going to open source either of those. That level of modification and app building is not going to happen on a 3rd party level. It's just too much work for too little of a return.
I don't know about you guys but I really like it.
FINALLY!!! long over due, like it so far
I notice that we're not able to upload videos, view albums, and search friends with this official app.
i actually think its pretty ****ing great to tell you the truth
i agree its pretty solid in my opinion, plus i love the widget!

Running / Sports applications

Any suggestions / favorites in terms of "Running" applications?
I downloaded the "run.gps" trial, but it's not great. It seems to have a problem with the GPS sensor.
Anyway, there are a number of apps on the market, but I can't seem to find a good, comprehensive list or any reviews, and I was hoping to find a few suggestions from forum members, but I can't seem to find search terms that produce any results.
Thanks!
Buddy Runner by Cooloud. Elevation seems way off but I'm not interested in that. I've tried a few and thats the one I'm sticking with.
I use cardio trainer, i found that the best allthough i had stop the pedometer coming on because it was not very accurate when i have the phone on the waist. Also the gps is not as accurate as a garmin it seems to gain distance for some reason, oh and also it dosnt show splts. So basicly although it fairly good its not great and i have tried a few of them. I got ideas for a app like this and gonna have a crack at doing one but i am only learning so i am not absolutly sure i can do it but if i can it will be perfect for me anyway.
I use sportypal (free) it gives you options for all sorts of activities running, bikes etc. Also maps it for you. Pretty cool app

Yes I use sportypal also, for running is very professional and accurate with showing the pace while running, the speed, distance, time ...
And after finishing is very easy to upload the track with one button click or share across the social networks.

iGoogle will be discontinued...

Who uses iGoogle? Please contribute if you can or move right along. Thanks.
So iGoogle will discontinue on Nov 1, 2013. I really like iGoogle and how it has pretty much everything I need in one click. I like my home page to show stocks, Gmail, news, TV, especially calendar and others. Does anybody know how I can get another Home Page to look like this? http://img846.imageshack.us/img846/5310/igooglestart.jpg Maybe Chrome widget, etc. ? Anybody? Thanks.

Hopefully in the next 16 months they will release something better, maybe they are just prepping for a new homepage for Chrome that is basically the same thing.:fingers crossed:
Kind of looks like my desktop. Constantly refreshes too.
I took the plunge today and tried Netvibes. I like it a lot, but I've only got RSS feeds (except the BBC News app). It does have a ton of widgets as well, so have a look and see what you think. Here's my initial setup...
Nice. I could resort back to my.yahoo.com but it doesn't have Google products integration. And yes, hopefully they'll come up with something better within a few months.
I'm pretty sure Google got sued by Apple for using the "i" in the name. lol

lol, yeah I heard they will be releasing a ota patch soon that takes away half of the functionality so they can continue to provide the service.

That is one great looking desktop. Nice job.
Anyway OP, though my homepage defaults to iGoogle, I rarely stay on it long enough. So I doubt I'll miss it that much.
Well, you have over a year to find an alternative. Check one of the other search engines. Perhaps they might be able to provide an alternative.

If you drive on the road, you need this app

I found this cool app called Driving Assistant Robin. It is similar to Siri sort of. The main goal of the app is for you to make driving on the road easier.
It does this by SPEAKING an ETA and it gives you an alternative route if it believes your going to be stuck in traffic forever. It will also read incoming text messages and emails while you are driving.
It has some more features as well... however, the best feature is that it is FREE.
Learn more about it here:

I am just trying to help keep people safe on the road.
Hundreds of people die every year because they read a text or an email while they are driving. Now, they don't have to worry about this because Driving Assistant Robin will read the email and text message for you while you drive. The app is free as well... you should really go and check it out!

I live in a coastal area. It is (or should be) impossible to get lost.
I'll never need a gps, or a GPS app of any sort. If someone gets lost here, they don't deserve to be found.
