cannot select between internet sharing disk or activesync - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

I have a problem with my diamond (now with BsB 6.5I rom)
usually, when connected by usb cable to the pc, a menu pops out and allows me to select between active sync, disk mode and internet sharing
now, when I connect the diamond to the pc, automatically starts with internet sharing
how can I sync with active sync if I cannot select the right mode?

Start->Settings->Connections->USB to PC
Check the "Ask about conneciton type when I connect" checkbox and then it'll prompt you which of the two you want each time you plug the phone in.

Activesync Trouble

When i connect my phone to my pc via usb, the activesync is constatly saying synchronising when its doing nothing and even where i have not set anything to sync in the set up it still does that, but i seems to work when i connect via bluetooth, but then there is the issue of the phone constatly disconnecting from activesync after a while when using bluttooth. I've tried reinstalling activesync, hard reseting my phone, lot changed usb ports and cable but still it keep saying synchronising.
If your phone doesn't need to sync any info, I would suggest you remove the partnership between the phone and your PC.
PC => open ActiveSync => open 'file menu' => delete mobile device
or
PPC => Activesync => menu 'options' => delete the PC
You will still be able to browse through the files and use apps like CABviaActiveSync.

WM 6.1 | Dial up Networking

I browse the Internet on my laptop using to the GPRS/EDGE connection of my network provider and Internet Connection Sharing on my Kaiser.
I have been trying hard to establish a Dial Up Networking using either a Bluetooth or USB but with no success.
Bluetooth:
1. I make my laptop Bluetooth enable by using a BlueTooth dongle.
2. Pair the Kaiser and Laptop.
3. On my Kaiser, I cant see any service listed.
4. Though i can see that Win XP did detect a Bluetooth Modem and it installed it. When i "Query Modem" in my Control Panel for the BT modem, it does successfully query it.
5. I create a new Dial up connection and use this modem, however it never starts to connect to the GPRS.
I do have a Sony Ericsson T610, where i do exactly the same thing and the internet works like a charm.
Please can somebody explain me step by step process how to achieve this. I have read 100's of forums and imported many registry keys but it simply doesnt work. The same was the case with my Hermes(TMobile Vario II).
The ROM details are in my signature.
Thanks in advance.
Activesync?
last time i tried this, i used a USB cable and activesync was installed on my pc...it worked like a charm and the steps are oh-so-easy!!!
using a USB cable, follow these steps:
1. ensure the applications on your phone (web browsers, weather applications, etc) can use your data connection (edge/gprs) just fine
2. on your pc, you have to have either activesync installed (if you have windows xp) or windows device center (if you have windows vista)...i have only tried this with activesync so can't guide you further regarding vista
3. sync your phone and pc with activesync...just plugging in the USB cable on your phone and pc will usually get activesync going
4. on your phone, go to "Settings->Connections->Comm Manager" and hit the "Internet Sharing" button...a configuration page will open...select "USB" under "PC Connection" and whatever your data connection name is on your phone under "Network Connection"
5. hit connect!
now on your pc, check if the internet applications are working!
Note: it helps to disable ALL OTHER network interfaces on your pc from Device Manager

I dont want with Internet Connection Sharing. I want to use with Bluetooth Dial-up networking. Why? The reason is that with ICS, my screen glows permanently(even at the lowest bright option) and eats the battery. BT the screen will go off and still be connected.
True true...BUT!

that makes sense...BUT...the phone charges when it is connected to USB so Internet Connection Sharing worked well for me on my DESKTOP...but you have a laptop so it wouldn't make much sense in the long term to have your phone charge off your laptop's battery when you're on the go! i see your point!

Active Sync problem

My T-Mobile MDA Compact IV has suddenly developed a problem in that it won't connect (automatically or otherwise) to my PC or laptop. Until today it would give me the option of connecting as a 'Disk Drive' or 'Active Sync'
It simply just starts charging on my desktop but on the laptop the window pops up asking if I want to play media files, etc etc etc.
Anyone got any ideas what the problem might be and what I might be able to do to rectify it.
Thanks in advance for any help
go to settings > connections > usb to pc and set connection for active sync. if you rather check "ask before connecting", the device will pop up a choice of connection types everytime you plug it to the usb plug...

How to sync Leo with PC via Bluetooth!

Hi everyone!
I'm wondering how to connect Leo with PC via Bluetooth..Just sometimes I come to Office and forget my cable...poor..
If anyone knows it, please share some experiences for me. Add video or picture it's more clear..
Thanks so much!
noone knows how to do it???
Pair your device with your computer, then connect to it.
You can access the HD2's Bluetooth manager in All Settings/Bluetooth.
To pair, either put your computer in discoverable mode and add it with your HD2, or the other way around.
To put your phone in discoverable mode, tab on the left (Settings) tab in the Bluetooth manager then look for the relevant option.
To put your PC in discoverable mode, look for the Bluetooth icon in the notification area, right click it and select "Open Settings", tick on "Allow discovery by other devices", and click OK.
To pair from the HD2, in the Bluetooth manager's device list (middle tab), tap Menu, tap "Add device", and follow the instructions.
To pair from the PC, look for the Bluetooth icon in the notification area, then right click and select "Add a device".
Once done, tap the "+" near the PC's name in the device list too see the available services, then tap ActiveSync.
The ActiveSync service will not appear if the PC doesn't have ActiveSync or WMDC installed, or if the device already has an ActiveSync connection established (i.e if you are connected by the USB cable)
Successfully did it today ! In office without the microUSB cable but needed to transfer a file (also didn't have a microSD card reader with me).
First pair the PC with HD2 (enabled automatic authentication between the 2 from now on)
Confirmed ActiveSync include COM5 (or whatever in your case Bluetooth is using)
on HD2 side, ActiveSync > Connect
Whoala ! Just like the cable equivalent.

Anyway thanks for your share!
