Anyone used these eBay accessories? (car charger, case, wall-charger) - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
First post! I just ordered my Xperia X1i from eBay. I did months and months of research and am sooooooo excited about my new phone. This is my first PDA phone (I do have a Dell X51v though). It will be replacing my X51v, external GPS, CD player in car, etc. etc.
I realize these are not dealbreakers at the prices they're asking for, but I just want to know if there's any quality/dangerous reasons not to buy these.
Basically, what I'm planning to buy is:
1) Xperia X1 miniusd wall charger (the X1i comes with foreign adapter I think)
2) Car charger
3) MAYBE a dock.
Case -- I am still up in the air about what the "best" overall case is. I can't seem to find one.
LINK #1:
http://tinyurl.com/ly4mfq
This is the one I'm thinking about getting for the wall-charger + car charger.
LINK #2:
http://tinyurl.com/lvow67
Or I might skip the wall charger and get just the car charger to use my Xperia as my music player in my car.
LINK #3:
http://tinyurl.com/mex9sg
Or I might actually get this for the wall charger + dock, but am unsure of the quality.
Any comments on the quality of either 3 posts OR recommendations for comparably priced objects you know of decent quality are appreciated!

The cradle looks interesting

Because the Xperia uses a mini usb port for charging you can use any generic usb charger, it doesn't have to be Xperia specific.
i.e I use my Kids iPod USB charger in the lounge room, the supplied SE usb wall charger in my bedroom, a USB car charger I already owned in the car and a few of my friends have Nokia Razr's and I use their Nokia mini USB chargers at their place, my laptop USB port at work etc.
I was also lucky that I had 1/2 dozen Usb to mini USB cable lying around when my Xperia arrived.
(When I 1st got the thing, I needed chargers in all those locations too )

Car charger... is it an aftermarket fake or the real deal?

I bought a "HTC" branded car charger from Ebay last week.
I got it in the mail today and it seems to be to be built too cheep to be actual HTC brand.
Is there a way to tell what is actual HTC and what is a second hand knock off?
Im not to sure I want to use this charger on my phone for fear it will get damaged.
Was it shipped from China/HongKong? => it is fake
Was it bought on eBay => it is fake
To be honest, I have never seen a HTC HD2 car charger made by HTC(perhaps it is sold with the car holder?). I need such thing but to be honest, I am also a little bit scared about damaging my phone.
Take some images so we can all take a look.
The HTC version of the car charger has the part that lugs in to the cigarette lighter and then a SEPARATE usb wire that connects to it which then connects to the phone, the wire is not permanently attached to the plug. If you bought one of those adapters that say "HTC" on it and glows (for under $10), you bought a fake.
I've got this item:
pearl.fr/automobile/accessoires-12v/station-de-recharge-usb-allume-cigare_PX1093.html add www before because of the silly antispam regulation
with the usb wire it's work well and I can charge 4 device in the same time (hd2/mp3/buetooh car hand free/gps
great and cheap
anyway 5 Volt is 5 volt and it's working !
Thanks for the replies...
yeah its from Ebay and it has the glowing HTC logo on it. wich = fake.
Oh well. glad I didnt spend a lot on it
guess it will be going into the trash with the packaging it came in. I am NOT going to risk my phone for over this piece of garbage.
thanks for the heads up on the "real" HTC car charger. Will search for one of them instead.

Huh? The official one has a lit HTC logo...
I have the official car mount and it comes with the car charger + cable. It's flat on the USB end and has a backlit HTC above the USB port.
Also, you can buy them separately.
does it work? if so, whats the big deal?
Like someone has asked, get some pictures up so we can inspect it
Charger
Seriously. I bought a Micro USB cable from the store for like 5.99. Been using the same cigarette USB universal charger for everything from GPS, to Tilt 2, to PSP, to bluetooth headsets using the same adaptor. Never had a single problem for about 3-4 years...
HTC=Taiwan
Taiwan=China (depending on who you want to ask)

Good Desktop Cradle?

Im looking for a good cradle for my desk. I have found alot online but want on that will not only charge my phone and a spare battery but will give me a audio out as well. I have seen them but never bothered to bookmark them. My bad lol.
So if anyone has any links that would be great.
i honestly dont think they exist. if you need a docking cradle, you got the wrong phone. the iphone woulda been perfect. i just dont think they have cradles with audio outs. ive seen charging cradles for car gps mount and for charging only.

I ordered this one which should be here by today. In the other thread people ordered the cradle for the unlocked version. This cradle is specifically for the T-Mobile USA HD2. It should address the fit problem people were experiencing. Has spare battery slot, audio out (mono ), a DC charge port, and a usb port for syncing.
EDIT-
Well its here and it fits perfectly however I cannot get any syncing action going on. All I can get is charging. Any ideas?

[Q] Car Chargers

Has anyone found a good car charger that they know works with the Focus? My dad's super-paranoid about my phone, and wants me to have a car charger. The problem, as many of you probably know, is that the Focus seems finnicky about what chargers it gets along with. Does anyone have one that they've tried that works?
I went with the Belkin Micro USB car adapter, works great, especially if you need to charge other USB devices.
This is the charger I used. It's made by Motorola but it works great with the Focus. Plus the LED light is a transparent window which looks awesome. It doesn't quite look like the photo. It's also discounted. I'll probably be ordering a couple more to keep in my other car.

IGO
I use the IGO car charger with the tip for my Samsung Focus. I also have the tip for my wifes Samsung Sync A707. I also had the tip for my FUZE when I was using that. It was nice, we could travel and just bring the additional tip and charge either phone. Works on my Focus very well.
I bought my Focus from Costco and they gave me a free no-name chinese car charger with the phone. I used it only once so far and my phone did not explode or anything, but I don't know if it was actually charging or not. The battery icon had the 'plug' graphic on it, but how can I tell if it was working properly?
I ended up getting a cheap charger off from eBay, it's kind of like the motorola listed that has the USB port. It also came with the USB cable and another house plug-in with the USB port. I travel a lot for the military so I like to have a spare cable and house charger.
i've used a Griffin which has a USB plugin...from my blackberry phone, HTC Tilt2 (winmo 6.5), HTC Aria (android), and will use it on my Focus. but with the battery, i haven't had a need for it yet lol. off the home charger with a full charge at 6:30am...drove to atlanta (well covered 3G area) to Athens (so so 3G) and all the back home down back roads through no name towns (spotty coverage). it's now 5:30 and i'm still showing half a battery gauge. that's with a few calls, plenty of texting, and a lot of web browsing.
damn i love this phone
I use one I got from Costco with my Backflip last year. I figured all micro USB would be fine.
Got a couple Rocketfish ones from Best Buy - work great
IMO, the Belkin is nice because it is low-profile. a very clean looking charging setup. Also can use whatever microusb I have handy rather than some dedicated cable.

Get the OEM charger here. I have had no issue with the MicroUSB connector, unlike my last car charger that just died. Can't beat the price either.
I bought three of these chargers...
I got three of these chargers off amazon. They are oem, but are official motorola and look really nice. They have a translucent window with the M on them that lights up when they are plugged in. They are a steal at less than five dollars. Go here-->http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Vehicle-Adapter-micro-USB-Charger/dp/B000S5Q9CA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1304549428&sr=8-1-spell.
That's what I got too, just through Amazon for prime 2 day.

Moto Car Dock

Edit: Discussion of the Motorola Car Dock. I'd be happy to answer any questions about it and I'll try to keep the Q&A from the thread consolidated in this first post.
Moto Version: The product includes the Moto Dock, USB/audio hybrid cable, Motorola dual USB 850mA car charger, suction cup mount and adhesive disc mount, 3.5mm stereo cable, removable adapter plate for when you are/aren't using a case.
VzW Version: The product includes the Moto Dock, suction cup mount and adhesive disc mount, 3.5mm stereo cable, removable adapter plate for when you are/aren't using a case. It DOES NOT include a car charger or charging cable, but it does have a receptacle on the back of the mount to plug in your existing micro USB charger.
Happy with the dock so far.
Compatible Cases (known)
- Incipio Featherweight
- W/ Extended Battery: TPU Case
Q&A
Q: Can anyone tell me if the Motorola Car Dock obstructs the rear facing camera?
A: No obstruction of the rearview camera.
Q: If you use the 3.5 headphone jack to play audio thru your radio can you still recieve calls with hands free or do you have to unplug it from the phone?
A: You can still receive calls with hands free, you don't have to unplug the audio cable.
Q: Will a Bionic in a Otterbox Defender fit in the car mount? If not, will taking of the silicone part help?
A: Pending confirmation.
No but you need to mount it to the dash...

I don't remember where it was, but somewhere in the options for the car dock you can tell it to stop prompting you with the terms every time you dock it. I know I found it and turned off the terms prompt because I don't see it anymore.
You can stop the agreement from coming up right on the agreement screen itself. Just scroll down before clicking accept and there is a box to check. Its very simple

Thanks for the info on the bluetooth adapter. If you're not a big fan of Moto's Car Dock app, you can download other dock apps like "Car Dock Home v3".
If you get the Costco bundle it does come with a charger, just fyi.

Just to clarify...is the car charger packaged in with the Moto Dock...or are you saying Costco includes a car charger as part of their accessory bundle?
Anyone know if something like this would get the audio-out from the USB port and allow charging simultaneously? The only problem is it is mini USB but there are micro to mini usb adapters.

I'd like to be able to only plug in 1 thing and get both the stereo out to my car stereo (pandora) and charge it.
Charger
I bought my Moto car dock from a Verizon retail store, and it included a charger. Maybe you should open a few boxes to be sure you didn't get one with the charger removed.

Weird....when I checked the reviews on the VzW website...most of the people there are saying it doesn't come with a charger. I'm not at home but I'll post up the UPC/SKU #s when I get home so we can compare. Maybe there are 2 different models floating around? Mine was $39.99, how about yours?
Here we go. Combine this -
http://www.amazon.com/Plam-Power-Audio-Adapter-800/dp/B001D4K6LU
with a charger and this -
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-Head...UUGC/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1318445980&sr=8-6
This should allow a 1 plug solution on the car dock so that you can charge and output streamed audio to your car stereo. Just pop in your Bionic and done.

I think this is what we need: http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-8949...1G1W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318447119&sr=8-1
per the description: Motorola retail packaging includes: DROID BIONIC vehicle dock, windshield and dashboard mount, rapid vehicle charger, 5ft audio cable, audio and power usb cable, quick start guide.
Guess I'll be returning my dock to Vz and buying the one offered by Amazon.

Forget the above. Here is the cable that comes with the Motorola car mount. There is no picture but this was confirmed on a Motorola support forum. It's almost half the cost of the whole kit, may as well buy the whole kit.

got the Verizon mount & it came w/ the charger, but - even using a rapid charger and getting charging symbol w/ unl3ash3d (1.7 now ) charging can't keep up w/ the GPS drain (charges fine w/o gps). is that normal?

Ok, so the moto car dock i got from the VzW store is model #MOTBIOMNT and the UPC is 7 23755 66836 2. I double checked and theres definitely no charger cable included. The moto branded car dock VzW sells is specially packaged for Vz, whereas the packaging from the Amazon kit probably has no VzW logos on the box is my guess.

audio cable
Unfortunately, the audio cable plugs into the phone, and not the dock.
BTW, it is male on both ends.

I got the Moto dock from Verizon and it did NOT come with a charger either. It just came with an audio cable, the suction cup mount, and the adhesive disc/alcohol wipe.
Couple things I want to mention for anyone thinking about buying the car dock:
1) The dock software that comes on the Bionic sucks, IMO. Half the time it won't speak directions to me. I Found a good work around for this is starting Google Maps navigation first, then docking my phone and it doesn't open up the crappy dock software that way. I imagine I can freeze the dock software with Titanium Backup and only use the dock for viewing and charging convenience.
2) I got the glossy silicone case from VZW and it fits inside the dock (not very well, but it does). However, I have found one issue and that is that every time I dock my phone it hits the power button due to the case being so large. Also, the power button on the dock itself doesn't work with this case.
3) I read on an Amazon review that the Holster style case (the one with the kickstand that VZW sells) + extended battery/cover will still fit in the Car Dock. I ordered these items late last week and will update this post when I know for sure this is the case...
4) Instead of buying a car charger, I got this TomTom cigarette lighter adapter from Best Buy (It was ~$27.99) since I already use my cars only working cigarette lighter for a satellite radio:
http://www.tomtom.com/en_us/product...-cables/high-speed-multi-charger-9UUC.001.04/
Then I bought a USB cable and a USB extension cable to go from my cars rear seat cigarette lighter to my car dock. Works great. Only issue I've had is the TomTom adapter creates a lot of noise on the power line going to my satellite radio. Going to get a Ferrite core from Radio Shack to put on my satellite radio's power line to see if that will fix my occasional noise/static issue.
5) The port on the back of the car dock is pretty shallow, so some thicker USB cables may not work. I've got USB cables that are the correct charging port, but they have very thick square "shoulders" around the base of the port and that caused a really stressed/weird angle when plugging in the USB cable to the back of the car dock. I ended up getting a different cable thinking I'd damage the charging port over time continuing to use the thicker USB cable.
Long post, but I feel like I had a lot of questions before buying the car dock and I hope I've answered them for prospective buyers.

4.2A Car Charger on ebay...need help...

Hello, Long time follower, first time poster.
I cannot post the link, but if you search "Juiced Systems 4.2 AMP" in ebay it's the first item under "Best match" and it's $19.99
Has anyone tried these chargers that claim 2.1A per USB port? Or does anyone know of any similar car chargers that charge 2 devices @ 2.1A?
I just want to buy the best charger that isn't going to blow up my phone, and a dual charger would be excellent if possible.
Thanks in advance.

If it's the same one here from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Juiced-System...dp_top_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1 it appears to be apple only.
The one Android customer from that Amazon link said:
I bought this assuming it would charge my Droid DNA at an AC rate. Unfortunately, it charged at a USB rate and could not keep up with usage while driving.
It sounds like with that particular device, in order to get an Android phone to charge at an AC rate is to either modify the charger (through soldering) to short out the data pins or use a USB charge-only cable (DIY modification of an existing cable or purchased one). The Android phone should then see the charger as AC instead of USB for, hopefully, full and faster rate of charge.
I know you are looking for dual port, each with 2.1A - but I wouldn't hold my breath this one will output dual 2.1A without throttling down one of the ports. Its impossible to fit quality circuit in a small cigarette lighter package where due to excess heat the efficiency of your converter will decrease. And even if they manage to produce 4.2A you will either blow your fuse or melt your charger. Just think about it, you won't have any air circulation to even cool it down.
I only trust dual port chargers with 2.1A/1A rating. I reviewed one before - HERE from iSmooth which does work! Also, to my surprise, iSmooth charger was actually made for iPad/iPhone but it WORKS perfectly with Note 2. I can't voucher for other Apple converters, and as a matter of fact I have another one with a separate Apple and Android ports and Note 2 doesn't charge from Apple port. But the one from iSmooth I'm using right now works perfectly for Note 2 and also looks awesome in the car with a blue glow light
